more like devils and their double penetration cause that’s all I remember happening. I’m being generous with 3 stars here.

I actually liked the first book, the plot is a bit thin but the cliffhanger left me wanting more. This book, on the other hand, was just a drag to read sometimes. I find it incredibly wild how easily Mackenzie was able to forgive the devils after they literally caused her to have a seizure just cause she wanted some dick. Normally I’m fine with more porn than plot, but the little plot that is there should be good lmao 😭 just felt like Mackenzie playing therapist with her pussy for 3 guys with daddy issues.

Miss girl is the DP really worth the trouble? A butt plug and a vibrator can serve the same purpose, and the best part is they can’t talk to you like you’re worse than hotdog water. _(┐「ε:)_ fuck my life

Everything felt so rushed. There was no real progression to the underlying plot, and there were numerous errors in the writing that I felt like the author with how much shit I was making up to fill in the blanks like it was a used copy of madlibs at the library. Except this copy had a couple of pages sticking together. Is that cum or glue? I need to file a complaint.

More like 80 percent smut and 20 percent loose plot line, and that’s honestly me being generous.

Not my favorite series…

I hate to say it but I’m finding it difficult to read. The storyline isn’t bad but I don’t like the FMC at all. I’m also struggling with the author’s voice. It feels inconsistent and immature in ways. I’ll finish the series but it won’t be a repeated read for me.

I absolutely loved book 1 I devoured it so quickly and book 2 did not disappoint. I was just as hooked. Mackenzie and her guys have more enemies than they thought or they accumulate them in this book! Kirill’s dad is definitely one to watch! Is he behind the ending? Paxton the professor dead? Not dead? Is it him? The men Mackenzie’s dad screwed over? The guys are determined to find out! Will they get there in time to make sure nothing happens? Or will it be too late? Can’t wait for book 3! Such a great series so far!

Hmm, why do I think it's not the professor but the other guy's dad who took him? He did seem upset that he didn't force her to accept the engagement. Or maybe the professor is well connected and has people holding her until he gets there. No idea, and I obviously need to figure this out.

I’m glad we got more POV chapters from the boys, it fleshes out their relationship and feelings WAY more. I still could’ve done with even more of their POV to be honest

I accidentally fell into this series. I thought I was downloading a Halloween-themed book with book one, and pretty quickly I was like… what the hell did I just open? 😳 Bully romances are not my thing, and “why choose” usually isn’t either—especially when every guy is a total asshole to the heroine at the start. But somehow, I kept reading. I skimmed past the parts that weren’t for me, but I still got enough of the story to follow along.

I don’t feel right rating it because it’s so far outside what I normally enjoy, even within the darker genre. I wouldn’t read it again, but the Devil’s trilogy pulled me through just because the chaos kept escalating and I wanted to see how it all played out.

This series is fun, easy reading. The subject matter is quite dark, but I don’t think there’s enough depth to the story or the characters to give it the gravitas it needs to really shine. At times the dialogue is super cheesy and takes me out of the story quite a bit.

I did enjoy this one more than the first and I will read the final instalment but I wouldn’t rush to recommend this as a must read.

As always i would argue that there needed to be more grovelling and again, the ending is soooo tense! Think i know who it is but will be starting the next book to confirm. This book was alot slower then the first book and definitely felt a little bit like setting things up and filler but still a great book

The Devils and Their Doll

Book 2 of the Verona Falls series we see how far these devils are willing to go for their duchess and each other. There are serious growing pains as they all struggle to figure out their relationship as well as working through their own trauma. Ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book.

I really liked this because for once they communicated.

My suspicion about the end is that is not the professor but Kirill’s father. We will see

(I was a tiny bit disappointed because I thought their reaction after learning about Mack’s past was going to be more violent?? Possessive?? Idk)

This series is a textbook example in poor communication skills and people needing intense professional therapy. I’m having fun, but at what cost???

RH MMM/Academy/Dark Kink/Multi PoV

SYNOPSIS (of Trilogy): The series opens with the FC thinking she has killed her professer lover and she and her mother fleeing to Verona Falls Academy to hide and where her mother has agreed to marry the dean. The Academy is a school for the children of powerful criminals. The MCs are the “devils” and at the top of the academy hierarchy. The trilogy covers the FC’s relationship with the MCs as they bully her, fall for her and make her theirs amid a backdrop of kidnapping and stalker threats.

Personally I found this trilogy badly written and edited and the content just nasty. Not sexy or hot just twisted, sick and nasty. (Prepare for a bit of a rant) What is wrong with authors, especially female authors? This is not a romance by any stretch. This is basically bad kinky porn with a very basic bit of story joining the sex scenes together. There’s no character development or depth and the characters are all one dimensional. They’re all “broken and damaged” because, of course they are. Apart from possibly Kirill, there is no real reason for any of them to act the way they do. But then, these authors aren’t interested in actually writing a story or a romance, they just want to write porn.

The kink is just grim with the MCs treating the FC like a toy (and not in a hot way) and doing what they want with and to her. Pretty much anything goes from using foreign objects to others watching to getting off while kidnapped and watched by the kidnappers. Of course the FC laps this bad treatment up because, again, apparently this is how authors show empowerment in women.

I genuinely shudder at the fact that young women will read this kind of thing and actually think that this is normal or something to which they should aspire as opposed to being treated with respect and being strong.

In summary, don’t read this, don’t support authors who write this kind of anti feminist trash.

I thought the first book was interesting enough. This one? Ehhh… definitely not as much. I still read it, I’m still somewhat invested, but it it got a little boring.

A good chunk was smut, sprinkled with plot. I skimmed the smut, which made this book a much shorter read. If Camile is supposed to be the bestie trope, I really didn’t see much of a connection, or really, any development. It’s a generic friendship at best.

In the time frame I picture, it’s only been a few months since the beginning, when Mackenzie first showed up to VF. Fall is mentioned, so assuming the university starts its year like normal, maybe three months have passed? Give or take. So sentences like these seem a bit dramatic for such a short amount of time in a non paranormal setting:

“that the three men I’d started to wonder if I could love had betrayed me” After a few months, with all the crap she has going on in her life… love? Really? Infatuation, sure. But not love.

“I can’t believe I’d thought I could live without her” Dramatic much?

It all just seems so bunched together in a short time frame. Something my nitpicky self doesn’t like.

The writing was okay, although there were a lot of run-on sentences. And sentences like this:

“It’s the bed that was in my room back in the house where we’d lived back when Dad was alive, when I’d believed we were a normal family”
This is just painful.

The first book had potential, this one kind of floats in the mediocre pool. I’m still going to read the third book, because yes, I’m a little invested. If there’s as much smut as this book, though, it’ll be another short read.

The writing was horrible. The immaturity was at an all time high. This series has soo much potential but the writing is just horrific. Mack is a pick me girl and these guys have absolutely no depth. They are all surface level.

I liked this book of the Verona Falls University series less than the first in the series. All of our main characters are absolute messes and fucked up to boot. They each spend the entire book spiraling and continually fucking up. At no point did I feel like things were turning around for these characters. I'm not really sure how they redeem themselves or fix some of the shit they've landed themselves in during the next book in the series, but I did download the next one to see how it goes. Too far invested in it to stop at this point.

All of the characters (Mackenzie, Dom, Kirill, & Tino) are all sorts of sexually depraved. The spicy scenes are ridiculously good in this book and probably what kept me interested in the series. Not really sure what that says about me as a reader, not going to look too closely into that. Even though they're fucked up, they're pretty hot and the spice alone is worth the read for this book. Solid 3.5-4/5 all around. One on one or group scenes. The author does not mess around with her smut.

Kirill's big dark secret is that he stole money from his dad to buy watches? I mean, I guess that they're expensive watches and he seems fixated and obsessed with them, but it was a little anticlimactic. There was definitely more material for his tragic back story to be deeper from his time with his dad, or delving into his cum kink as part of his haunted past. Dom cuts himself, likes receiving and giving pain, and likes to be in control. Tino has a videotaping thing and is addicted to pain killers and has survived an attack that left him broken. I feel like Kirill's story could have been more developed or deeper than he bought watches because they were pretty and he wanted to have them. Kept waiting for them to be attached to the torture his dad put him through or why he doesn't like the dark. That didn't happen and it felt like the author used up all their good ideas on Tino and Dom and only had scraps left to develop Kirill's character.

When Mackenzie gets taken, why did no one suspect Kirill's dad? They all assume it's Paxton, but that doesn't really add up. Especially when Kirill's dads parting words to him were, "you brought this on yourself." Then we never hear what that means, and he doesn't seem like the kind of character to make idle threats or not mean what he says. Feels like if nothing happened to Kirill himself and then his girlfriend disappears, someone would make that connection. This obviously isn't discovered in this book, but I'm just making my prediction now in this review that Kirill's dad is the one who abducted Mackenzie.

And if I am right about Kirill's dad being the one to abduct Mackenzie, I believe that Camile is owed a big sorry and she can yell, "I told you so," as many damn times as she wants. Camile has literally been warning Mackenzie that this kind of shit would happen to her if she got involved with the Devils, and damn ... look at all the shit that's happened to Mackenzie as a result of being involved with the Devils. It's like it all could have been avoided ... because it could have! If I were Camile I would drop Mackenzie in a heartbeat. She routinely blows her off, doesn't listen to her and in fact walks around flaunting the opposite of the advice she's given, and has brought the attention of the Devils upon Camile several times when that is exactly the opposite of what she has explicitly told Mackenzie. Seriously Camile, you deserve better. I feel like she has her own shit going on with the Vipers and likely doesn't need Mackenzie's bullshit extra clogging up her life.

So to sum up - great sex scenes, the plot left something to be desired, and I'm not sure how the group comes back from what all has happened and how they plan a future together. This is a great dark romance series with top tier smut, why choose components, and the mafia. If any of those are things that you're into, I would suggest reading this book.

After the doozy of a cliffhanger in book one, we pick up with Mackenzie in hospital. She doesn’t want to speak to anyone. She’s so angry with everyone and feels used and humiliated. But Tino and Kirill attempt to see her regardless.
When she’s discharged and returns to Verona Falls, she knows she has to run. Anywhere. Packing little and taking her mums car she’s making headway. Until an eye opening phone call to her best friend from home changes everything. Tracked down by a devil, she returns to Verona Falls facing the new reality that she’s only safe there. The Devils are genuinely sorry for how things played out. They took things too far. Dom is still against the marriage but when Mackenzie’s past is revealed to them, it puts a new perspective on everything and the Duchess is theirs.
When Kirill’s father makes an unwelcome visit which leaves bruises, a white lie can hopefully save Kirill’s neck. His father takes an interest in Mackenzie and when he discovers that she’s seeing Kirill, he puts him in a difficult position with the other Devils and their Doll.
Just as they think everything is starting to heal, fractures reappear ending on one heck of a cliffhanger. Can the four of them survive it.
This was a brilliant second book in the series. The tenuous relationship between Mackenzie and her Devils fractures, begins to heal, then fractures again. Which way is up? And how are the Devils going to comeback from this. Superb.

spoilers***********

Mackenzie wakes up in the hospital mad at the guys for setting up that video to hurt her and mad at her mom for what the video revealed, she’d had her husband killed. Mack now knows who the people of the school are, their criminals. She runs unable to stay near any of them, but Tino tracks her down. Before Tino gets to her, she calls her friend Lola and learns that Paxton isn’t dead like she was led to believe, and that means he’s after her. Tino convinces her to come back with him and she knows she can be protected at the school by the guys. She’s upset with her mother even more because she knew Paxton was alive. Kirill’s father is volatile and now wants him to marry Mackenzie. When she said no, Dom beat Kirill for even asking and Tino overdosed on accident. Kirill told his father that he was going to win her over but she said no for now. Though Kirill thought it went well, he couldn’t understand when his father said “you made me do this”. The guys went to a spa, and while they were there Kenzie got a call from Lola saying that Paxton had shown up and was violently asking about her and what VF stood for that he’d found her mothers car. While she was outside on the phone someone kidnapped her.

DNF 😭 WHAT AM I READING 😭😭😭

you know its so bad if they start the BEGINNING of the book with a smut scene, i looked at the third book and SAME THING.

genuinely dont know if theres any notable substance in this story bcs its either smut or pure nonsense. i could scroll through pages and still be in the same understanding of the plot as i was a few pages back. theres not much progression of ANYTHING. you cant tell if a bond is forming or not bcs theres not description of any new feelings or revelation, its just so sudden. either the fmc or the mmc does something new bcs they're 'obsessed' & 'need an outlet' and thats the only progress we get. not even an explanation of HOW or WHEN their feelings developed.

also i HATE the fmc. i get that you can get attracted to someone and it can make you lose ur logic and what not. but how tf do you FAIL everytime. 😭😭😭

everytime i read "no i cant let this happen, no way am i letting it end up the way they want to, i will stand my ground" NO YOU DID NOT 😭 and it has happened so much times i lost my sanity reading this. she says that she's stronger than anyone can ever imagine. but the moment shes tempted, she gives up. even if she had better options/decisions to take. I CANT TAKE HER SERIOUSLY

Good if you’re looking for smut. Toni, Kirill, Dom being the mmc and Mackenzie. I enjoyed the darker sides of what happened in the basement, her killing the dad and finally offing the ex teacher. I think the bullying aspect was layed on a little too thick and I wish there was more positive interactions. It felt like multiple times during this book I was yelling at the FMC because she would completely forget about the bad things they would say and do and turn to sex as a form of communication/forgiveness. I did enjoy them getting to experience the pregnancy and Toni getting clean of drugs. I wish I could get a separate book about a happy ending for the dean!!! My heart just aches for him for loosing his ex wife and his young lover after just getting her back. I cried when her mom died, it was devastating and I don’t understand how she didn’t have more pregnancy complications because of all the trauma. Overall I enjoyed the series. Onto the vipers!

This was not my favorite. I skimmed a lot of the book because it was just drawn out too much for me.

I'm not sure if it's because there were two different authors or what but the RH was not very cohesive. The guys called each other brothers and liked to share women but it didn't seem like any future plans had been discussed or even thought about. It was like they just assumed they'd part ways after college.

They were also constantly getting jealous of each other. And Mckenzie always wondering if they were with someone else but then telling herself they never made any commitments to each other so she probably shouldn't get upset about it. It was details like this that irritated me.

This could've easily been a duet or just one book that was a bit longer. I don't think I'll be reading the next book.

Massive DNF. spineless FMC who lets one of the guys who put her in the hospital fuck her as an apology TO HIM. For running after she got out of the hospital. Then proceeds to go back to the school and let the other 2 finger her under the table in the middle of the fucking cafeteria. 😃 but it’s okay because they may treat her like shit and humiliate her in front of everyone but they “make her laugh when she’s sad” and “brush her hair”

The bitch is literally so annoying and constantly talking about her “friend” Camille who we see her interacting with what three times in the first book? Yet they’re “friends” literally no.

Plus just having to read her back and forth inner monologue is giving me a fucking migraine. She’s going to be strong when she goes back. Then immediately fucking folds bc one of the guys has a fucking boo-boo on his face.

Oh my! The second installment did not disappoint! I was lucky enough to get an ARC and inhaled it all in one day!
This book picks up where we left off the first, from there it was like going down a rollercoaster. We find out more about the Devils backgrounds, making it even more interesting to see why they are all they way they are. Mack has her hands full trying to come to terms with everything being thrown at them and trying to be true to herself as she figures it out more and more.
The ending of the book ends on a cliffhanger, you just want to snatch the characters away and hold them all safely in your arms, away from what is about to befall them all. Honestly can not wait for book 3.

There's authors that could write on toilet paper and it would be brilliant. These are two that could. Every book is better than the one before and you never know what's coming from one page to the next. The Devil's And Their Doll is book 2 of Mackenzie and her Devil's story and holy h*^*, if I thought book 1 left me speechless I was completely wrong!
Dom, Tino, Kirill and Mackenzie are up against evil in a huge way in this one. This book had me glued to the pages, up all hours of the morning reading and up early to finish. It's completely consuming! Of course the cliffhanger put the brakes on in a massive way! Way to keep us in suspense ladies!
