Dark Island Scots #1-4

Dark Island Scots - Complete Series

Rate this book
Ruin, Sin, Scar, and Burn - binge read the complete Dark Island Scots series in one glossy boxed set. All the cliffhangers answered. All the steam, drama, and dark mystery ready for you in one delicious package.

Ruin
I wanted him. He wanted to ruin me.

It was the blood I noticed first. Running down the neck of the man on the ferry.
Then his bruised knuckles, dark eyes, and arrogant smirk.
The handcuffs came last.
No one else paid him attention, but I couldn’t look away. Or deny my instant lust.
I had no idea he was being imprisoned on the remote, dark Scottish island I knew well.
Or that he’d been kidnapped, not arrested.
I went from that naïve girl on the boat, dreaming of stolen kisses, to the one who held the key to his prison cell.
When heat turns to hate, all that’s left is ruin.

Sin
He was dangerous, but the real sin was mine.
Sinclair was my secret obsession.
The one I dreamed of in a homelife filled with violence and pain.
It was Sin’s darkness that saved me, wrapping its way around my heart until it beat only for him.
I helped him escape his island prison.
He asked me to leave with him.
But my mother is pregnant, and I won’t let another child be raised in that house of horrors.
The only way to free her is to betray the man I want and the family he’s creating.
Love is impossible when my only option is to sin.

Scar
A scar tore his face. Mine would carve his heart.
I’d do anything to save my missing sister, even sell my body to the highest bidder.
Until he steals me from my buyer’s mansion.
Camden rescued me, but he won’t let me walk away. Especially when I discover he’s my buyer’s son.
And the strange thing? I can’t even be angry at the sweet, gentle, scarred Scotsman for the terrible thing he did.
Chasing after me will hurt him. And loving him will only leave me with scars.

Burn
I’d wreck his life. For mine, he’d burn down the world.
Jamieson was my penpal.
My first crush. My surf-crazy, impulsive, pyro boy, and the secret I kept from the world.
Until he broke us up before we ever met.
When I discover he’s been imprisoned by an evil man, saving him becomes my only goal.
Except his enemy wants me too.
He was fire and water. With him, I’d either drown or burn.

Spicy AND Heartfelt!

Ruin started out a bit slow at first for me, but quickly grew on me as I couldn’t get to the next page fast enough. All four of the brothers hold a special place in my heart, along with their partners. Such cruel and heart breaking pasts shaped them in to the fiercely protective and loyal men they are now. I especially love how Jolie intertwined all 5 siblings and their partners (excluding Cassie), almost as if they were always meant to be fated to one another. There was so much more packed in to these stories than I originally expected, and Jolie did not fail to leave me shocked several times throughout this series. The spice was packed in there and was equally as intense as the rest of the storyline, and did not disappoint.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Ruin is Book 1 of the Dark Island Scots.
Prepare for adventure into a new world as you watch Straun get tossed into an island labeled as a troubled youth. He comes across Thea who is immediately intrigued. Forced to investigate his new found prison-mates, listen as Straun uncovered more than you could imagine.

Sin is Book 2 of the Dark Island Scots.
Lottie is Thea’s island friend from book one and you will love her story! Sinclair is the big boy leader of the group. At first we have a love/hate/enemies to lovers that morphs to a spicy hot coupling with a breeding k*nk. The secrets and intrigue from book one continues and gets so much more exciting.

Scar is Book 3 of the Dark Island Scots. Sweet sweet Camden. He’s always thinking about those around him. The plot thickens in this book and one of the group finds himself missing. Common threads are unwound and the group collects more members. Camden experiments with tying up more than his shoes 🔥. Camden and Breeze are perfection and they are so good together.

Burn is Book 4 of the Dark Island Scots. This book gives us so many answers for the ongoing mystery. We finally know so many things we’ve been wondering all along! Jamieson is a fire bug who fits right in with the group until it’s time for action 🔥. It’s another small world moment for Jamieson and Summer. Summer is also able to have her own reunion with someone we know! Like the other books he has his own 🌶️proclivities and the boys all bond over their preferences, confirming that they are still good people.
In Burn we also get a glimpse of Arran as a teen, which is a fun little drop in.

This series was amazing, and the audio book series knocks it out of the park. The voice work is so good and you could tell when the characters swapped. I had read this series previously, but listening on audio takes it to another level. When you have the audio bundle you are able to get immersed and get all of your answers at one time! 5⭐️ a must listen!

Book 1 — Ruin

A strong start with moody Scottish atmosphere and dual narration that leans beautifully into the accents. The mystery hooks early, the spice lands well, and the tone sets up the series nicely. Listening made the mix of real names and nicknames a bit harder to track, but that’s an audio quirk rather than a writing issue. Ends on a sharp cliffhanger.

Book 2 — Sin

Picks up immediately, so this series definitely needs to be listened to in order. The focus shifts to a new couple while the overarching plot keeps building. A few moments were harder to follow in audio simply because you can’t flick back, but the story itself stays clear. Another cliffhanger keeps the momentum going.

Book 3 — Scar

The continuity stays tight, rolling straight on from book two. Each instalment introduces a new couple, but the emotional core is the boys themselves, their pasts, their trauma, and the way each relationship pulls something new out of them. Plenty of spice again, and more layers added to the overarching plot.

Book 4 — Burn

The slowest of the four, but it had the most to wrap up. A new couple takes the spotlight while the series pulls all the threads together. It still gives space to the earlier couples, moving their stories along and closing out the overarching mystery and emotional arcs.

Overall Series Summary

The series begins by introducing all the boys (brothers) on their isolated Scottish island, a tight, loyal group with shared trauma and secrets that shape everything that follows. Each book then brings in a new love interest for one of them, while the overarching mystery and emotional threads carry straight through to the end. Listening to the full box set felt like a long, immersive journey. Jolie Vines is great at writing depth and emotional layers, though at times I did feel a little overwhelmed by how detailed some sections were. Breaking the series up might have helped, but I’m a binge‑listener by nature, so once I started, I just kept going. The dual narration and Scottish accents added so much atmosphere, even if the audio format made name‑tracking a bit tricky. Spice, tension, character growth, and mystery build from book to book, creating one continuous story best

Ruin: Wow, when I say I love this book, I truly mean it! All the twists, turns, and mysteries of this book plus the smut made me finish this within one day! This is simply amazing!!
Sin: Sin and Lottie's book goes from friends to enemies to lovers, which is absolutely amazing. I had a feeling Sin had a breeding kink way before he realized it! I hate what happened to have them run, but I'm glad that Sin and Lottie finally were able to be happy.
Scar: Wow!! I knew Scar's book would surprise me, but it left me speechless... when Burn went missing and Cassey was taken, it literally broke me. It was beyond crazy, and then Scar tried his best to help and did what he thought was best and then found Burn, but in jail (not legally), which was awful. This one had so much heartache and love that I seriously didn't want it to end. Then how he fell for Breeze, and then buying her, it was a crazy ride.It was definitely worth the ride!
Burn: What an adventure this one took us on! Burn and Summer's love story is one for the books. Young love to heartbreak to back to love, ahhh, it was perfect with the imperfections and all! This one took us for a loop and didn't want to let go, I seriously didn't want this story to end, but I'm so happy how it ended!

worth the time invested

Ruin - begins a dark and complicated story. The characters have very little joy, except what they find with each other. All of the male main characters are introduced and the love story between Ruin and Thea is intense and explicit yet still relatable.
Sin - intense, loyal, and strong. This is another fascinating story that moves the main plot of the corrupt rich along.
Scar - answers some questions, introduces more, and continues to dig into darkness. Insta love is not my favorite genre, but Scar may be my favorite complex character in the series.
Burn - I still like the characters and the writing, but the number of coincidences is exceeding my willing suspension of disbelief.
Things got lighter and more of the coincidences were explained by the end.
This is a long series and you may want to break for something lighter between the books, but I absolutely recommend it.

Well you wouldn't expect the dark secrets hidden on a remote Scottish Island, yet there they are.
A cleverly written series about 5 siblings and their fight for justice. The books each feature the lead characters Ruin, Sin, Scar and Burn and the romance that blossoms with each of their lasses. Along the way they encounter deceit, imprisonment and corrupt systems. That's not to say each of these guys are angels, far from it. They are however, good hearted and loyal to each other and especially protective of their little sister.
I loved that there were appearances of characters from previous books. There was also plenty of spicy moments with each of the couples.
Compelling reading, absolutely loved it.

A 4 Book Series

Ruin, Sin, Scar and Burn
The 4 books all together make the Dark Island Scots. It's defiantly a different read and the story has enough twists to keep it interesting. Each guy has his own back story and of course his own 'lass' to get their HEA with.
Defiantly a bit of a dark romance with a few dark kinks and the story involved sex trafficking, prostitution and imprisonment.

Another amazing series

This series was an emotional whirlwind. Throughout all four books, the characters build a raw, fiercely loyal chosen family that becomes the heart of the story. Set on a remote, haunting island, the high-stakes plot—featuring kidnapping, captivity, and betrayal—keeps the tension high and the pages turning. Intense, erotic chemistry weaves seamlessly with psychological suspense, taking the Highland romance genre into darker, bolder territory.

I was a little reluctant…

I was a little reluctant to read this series. I have loved every other book Jolie Vines has written so I decided to give it a try. I was very surprised about how much I loved this series! When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about the story. It was fascinating and a completely engrossing read!

Dark Island Scots!

I found this author through her Body Count series. A lot of these characters show up in that series, so I was really excited to get to read their stories. They were tragic, heartbreaking, entertaining, but had a great ending. I loved each of the characters and how they all found each other. The writing was good and I absolutely loved the audio.

wow

I don’t know what I expected when I downloaded this series but I’ve hardly slept. I couldn’t put it down, what a read.
I love how everyone has their place apart but a better place when they came together.

Blown away by these men and their stories! And Cassie is the cutest little thing. Twists and turns in every story, I was spellbound. Lots of angst, worry, and even more steam.

Loved continuing from the scots series. Especially like Gordon being involved with Max. They are two of my favorite characters. These brothers are tragic but have a need for family so I loved reading about them all. Love how strong the women are in these books. Thank you Jolie Vines

I loved this series. I listened to it with Audible and wow did the accents make it that must better. The way each of the relationships built and the mysteries that had to be unraveled and solved. I really loved that each book was about a new couple but it still involved all the other also. I wish every series did that. Now back to the beginning since I did not realize there were other interconnected series before this.

an entire series of a twisted family drama, where we get to know all the members and how they are healed by the loves in their lives. These couples have some fun kinks. Tattooing names on private parts, chasing. The list is laaarrge. This serious links into Jolies Body Count series. Darker men, darker lives, darker fun.
