THOUGHTS:

I love it when I read a book that makes me think about the “what ifs” in life and how in life, we always want what we don’t have until we don’t have it then we want it back. This is a book that brought joy as I reimagined a life worth dreaming about - a little sprinkling of magic and lots of self discovery and transformation that makes this book so captivating. This short read really packed a punch.

Enjoyed it!

In Pamela Spradlin Mahajan's captivating novel, "Skye, Revised," the protagonist, Skye Peters, embarks on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery and transformation. After a humiliating experience on a reality singing show, Skye finds herself trapped in a mundane existence with her unfulfilling boyfriend, Teddy. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she is inexplicably shot by a masked intruder and awakens in a parallel reality. In this alternate universe, Skye is a celebrated pop star with a devoted fan base and a handsome Scottish husband. Initially, this newfound life seems like a dream come true. Yet, as time progresses, the facade begins to crumble, revealing a darker truth. Skye yearns for the familiarity of her old life and the genuine connection she shared with Teddy. Throughout the novel, Skye grapples with the complexities of identity and the choices she has made. The parallel reality serves as a catalyst for her personal growth, as she confronts her past and the limitations she has imposed on herself. Mahajan skillfully explores the themes of self-acceptance, the pursuit of dreams, and the power of human connection. As Skye navigates this surreal landscape, she discovers hidden strengths and resilience within herself. She must make difficult decisions that will shape her future, both in her current reality and the one she left behind. The novel culminates in a poignant and thought-provoking resolution, leaving readers with a profound message about the transformative power of embracing one's true self. "Skye, Revised" is a captivating tale that seamlessly blends elements of fantasy, romance, and self-discovery. Mahajan's vivid storytelling and relatable characters draw readers into Skye's extraordinary adventure, inviting them to reflect on their own aspirations and the choices that shape their lives.

‘I had no idea that true happiness could be so subtle.’ The entire book seamlessly and beautifully makes you realise this simple and often overlooked truth. Moreover, love how the simple writing style takes you on a journey balancing these two personalities than you know and then becoming one and wiser again.
It encourages you to look for these subtleties which isn’t always to do. Would definitely recommend a read.

3.5 stars!!

Skye, Revised is a classic tale of girl hates her life-girl undergoes trauma and ends up in an alternate timeline of her life- girl misses her old life- girl wake up more grateful---but with a Hollywood twist!! Skye Peters dreamt of being a singer, but blew her chance on a singing competition and has not sung since. She has a nice enough boyfriend but isn't sure she wants to marry, a job that could be cool but a boss that overlooks her, and dreams of seeing and being seen out in town but ends up at a table by the toilet. This book has a fun (or not so fun depending on how you look at it) twist with some extra characters and POVs, and is a fresh take on a classic story! My only wish was for a little bit more development of Skye and Teddy's characters, but I liked them enough as is in this little novella!

Thank you so much to Pamela Spradlin Mahajan and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Skye, Revised. The characters were relatable and vibrant. The main character was strong, clever and got to experience her life in a way that none of us get to, but every woman in the world has imagined. The “what ifs?” are suddenly unveiled and she sees through clear eyes that not everything or everyone who glitters is gold.

Have you ever wished your life was different in some way? I certainly have, so it was a lot of fun delving into Skye’s story of wanting a whole different world. Of course, the grass is always greener, right? Sometimes we take the things we have and the people we know and love for granted, and it takes a moment like this to realize how much it actually matters to us. Unfortunately, wishes don’t come true and we can’t snap our fingers and do life all over again. Skye’s story is a gentle reminder to live in the moment and live your life to the fullest!

“SKYE REVISED” by Pamela Spradlin Mahajan is a captivating and intriguing Fantasy, Romance, and Magical Realism novel. This has the vibes that reminds me of “Sliding Doors” starring Gwyneth Paltrow which alternates between two storylines showing two paths in her life, depending on what train she catches. In this suspenseful novel, the author transports us to an alternate timeline or alternate reality where the protagonist revisits her life and dreams. The author vividly captures the essence of the fantasy and describes the colorful and dramatic characters.

The protagonist , Skye Peters, feels deep regret and humiliation after losing her dream on a reality singing show. Skye is now A PR Assistant and is disappointed with her job. Skye is also ambivalent about her boyfriend Teddy, who has a singing TV show. Teddy seems ready to propose, and Skye excuses herself, and goes into a closet in a room to reflect on what she wants out of life, and what she will do. Skye often wonders what life would be like if she won the contest. Tragically, Skye is shot by a masked man.

When Skye wakes up she is in an alternate reality, where she is a huge success, and a famous star, married to a handsome man. Everything seems perfect, until it is not. Is there anyway that Skye can revise the alternate timeline, and reverse what has happened? I highly recommend this novel, and suggest you read it to find out what happens.

I’m a fan of magical realism, and 𝐒𝐤𝐲𝐞, 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 offers that in an alternate reality for an entertaining story.

Skye Peters is bored with her life as a PR assistant on a reality singing show and her average boyfriend, Teddy.

But when an armed intruder breaks in and shoots Skye, she awakens not in her current reality but a new reality as a famous pop singer married to a hot husband. But is this really the better life?

Ultimately, this is a wake-up call for Skye. I think many of us tend to look at celebrities' lives and think, “If only,” as Skye was doing, but when she experienced it, she found it was not quite as she pictured.

The author could have delved deeper into this topic, and things would have gotten heavy. Instead, it’s kept as a lighter and breezy journey of self-discovery, making it a fast, enjoyable read with romance, the Hollywood lifestyle, and a touch of magic.

Skye, Revised by Pamela Spradlin Mahajan is a quick, fun interesting read that I enjoyed.

This book reminds me of the phrase the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Skye Peters, the protagonist has a really awful experience on a reality show. She is generally unhappy in life and with her boyfriend Teddy.

When she is shot by an intruder, she wakes up in an alternate reality where she is a famous pop start with tons of fans and a gorgeous husband.

Skye goes on a journey of self-discovery and maybe what she thought she wanted she didn't.
This book is part romance, part fantasy and well written.

I found Skye's story to be quite thought provoking as she went through the different emotions as she learns to accept herself, a good lesson for everyone.

Skye, Revised whisks readers away on a delightful journey, offering a refreshing escape to a vibrant new world. Its narrative took some unexpected turns that kept me flipping pages wondering what surprises lay ahead!

While initially not my favorite, Skye's character development throughout the story turned me around by the end. I did find myself wanting more depth in Denver and Dallas, but filling out too many characters could have taken away from the fun and lightness of this story.

If you're looking to escape reality and maybe learn a little life lesson while you're at it, give Skye, Revised a read!

4.5 stars!!

Skye, Revised is a story that reminds you to appreciate what you have. With Hollywood as a backdrop, the characters showcase the glamour and excitement of the life of the rich and the famous; however, we’re also shown their public burdens and challenges. After trauma, Skye wakes to find herself in an alternate reality where she is living out her dream as a famous pop star. We learn that the dream is not all it seems to be and she longs for the comfort of her original life. This book is a fun read an excellent reminder that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Skye, Revised is a fun romp through a #metoo Hollywood from a side angle view that provides insights to the inner workings of the entertainment industry, and multiple opportunities for anyone paying attention to learn something about stardom. A quick and easy read, grab it and read it with your daughter, or better yet - your mother. Every generation has a story like this - so let them tell you theirs after you read the last page. You know how sometimes at some point in our life we wonder how would it be if we made different choices and have an alternate life?
Well that’s what Skye Peters is going through in this book. Skye wants to be a singer, the competition she auditions for didn’t go very well for her. Things are just not happening for her in various aspects of her life.
Then she finds herself in an alternate life but it isn’t going exactly how she thought it would. This is a quick and interesting read on “you never appreciated what you had until you lose it” type of story.

This is a “what if” book that gives a cautionary tale when a dissatisfied woman gets the life that she dreams of after a traumatic event.

It’s told mostly in Skye’s, the main character, point of view. It has the lure of the music industry and all the parts of life that stardom brings.

There is also a little side story about how Skye winds up from being a PR assistant to a mega music star that has a bit of a thriller edge that I enjoyed.

It was a quick and engaging read. It’s a perfect read to start and finish on a beach, boat, porch, or park 1/2 day!

This was entertaining and thought provoking. I’m fascinated with alternate reality and Skye’s story grabbed me right out of the gate. Although probably few people could relate to being an incredibly famous pop star, living a life we’ve dreamed of is fun to consider. It’s also a good reminder to appreciate the blessings of our current lives because things aren’t always as good as they seem for those who look like they have it all.

This contemporary romance is a quick read and uses magical realism to show Skye that the grass isn't always greener and brings about a lot of character growth for her. Teddy seems like such a sweet guy, but Skye can only focus on what bothers her about him till her life changes into what she thought she wanted. It's a good reminder to have an attitude of gratitude for what we do have instead of longing for what we don't.

I thought this was a wonderful debut. It was a quick read with the different timelines and couple different POV. Skye was a very relatable main character, and I loved the self-discovery along the way. I loved the explanation that came with Skye’s alternative universe she found herself in. It was fun to see Skye shinning doing what she loved in her new world but also making different decisions that her “past self” had made. It had both lighter moments and deal with some deeper topics too. I really enjoyed it.

This book was a great reminder that you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. A person may look like their life is great but in reality, they are trying to hold everything together.
