True happiness is a fragile illusion—one moment it's within your grasp, the next, it's brutally torn away. My world crumbled when she fell, unleashing the demons I kept buried deep within.

So many in my life had fallen, but never me. Life was cruel like that. This time, though, I refuse to let it happen.

My sweet Red and Ethan are my anchors, the family that holds me together. No one threatens my family and walks away unscathed. Dmitry made a fatal mistake, and now, he will be the one to fall. He will pay for daring to harm the ones I love.

This is the second book in a dark, MFM Menage romance, which concludes Ashlee, Magnus and Ethan's story.

Caged by Jess Peters is book two in the Dark Empire Series. After reading the first book I was very much looking forward to this one. You do have to read them in order. I will also say just to check your content warnings to be on the safe side. When I sat down to read this book I wasn’t expecting not to move again until I finished. But that’s what happened, I needed to know more. This is a dark, why choose romance. I thought it had a steady plot that held till the end. There were a few times that the conversation felt stilted to me. Nothing immersion breaking. I enjoyed the characters and how the story went. I really loved reading how they needed each other to grow. The spice is always great and it was done so well. (Some scenes, I’m surprised my kindle didn’t start smoking.) The tension was palpable, a few times I was on the edge of my seat. The descriptions were good and I could imagine the Scenarios that happened. I also liked how it ended but I’m looking forward to Hannah and Mario’s story. Overall I had a pleasant reading experience. The lines/quotes I connected with the most was…

“You’re strong because of what you went through.”
“How am I?”
“Because you survived.”

MFM. Dom & Sub. Mafia Family. Revenge.
This part of the story picks up after a wedding that is interrupted by gunfire. The war is ready to play out. But all of this drama brings Mags demons to light. Can their little family survive it all?
I think some people forget that Ethan is the youngest son of a Mafia Don. Most Mafia stories are about the eldest son. Let's be realistic about that, the youngest always have different treatment. I truly love this story. The why-choose element makes it even better. The men in this trio are dominant, especially Ethan. Ashlee is mouthy, but she still likes to submit to her men.
The only thing I would have changed was to reduce the number of times the descriptive phrase “the air crackled with” was used.
My introduction to Jess Peters was her Explicit Dom series; therefore, I am familiar with her work. I love the way she writes about doms and subs. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but it is her niche and mine too.

I was soooooo ready for this book after I read Captured! Caged is book 2 in the Dark Empire Series and the continuation of Ashlee, Ethan & Magnus’s story.

It was everything I’d hoped it would be and more! So action packed and full of lots and lots of amazing spice! Each of Ashlee’s men had past trauma that affected them in different ways and she was able to help them both so much. I loved seeing their growth throughout this book!

I’m very interested to see where the epilogue leads us in the next book. I’m pretty sure it will be Mario and Hannah, but imagine we will still get glimpses of Ashlee, Ethan and Magnus. I can’t wait!!

Yes their love and relationship is not the political correct thing but its so hot and sexy I couldn't put either book down. I do hope there are more to come... Pun intended.

This is an interesting second installment of this series. Enough suspense and intrigue to keep one interested in the series. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
