A happily married woman wakes up to an astonishingly different life in a funny, emotional, and twisty romantic comedy in reverse by the author of Three More Months.

It’s Riley Ricci-Chase’s first wedding anniversary, and she’s living a perfect life in London with her utterly devoted husband, Tristan. So what if his parents and insufferable cousin Milo work Riley’s last nerve? She has Tristan.

The next morning Riley wakes up exactly one year later. No wedding ring. It’s Milo by her side. And Tristan is a happy new father—with another woman. None of this is surprising to anyone. Except Riley. Where does she go from here? With every new tomorrow, she’s moving backward through time to face a year she’s already lived, one she’s completely unprepared for.

Unless this is some cosmic prank, Riley is on a journey with a lot of questions. What went wrong with Tristan? How in this mind-blowing flip side could it have gone right with Milo? And where do her future and true love lie? To find out, Riley will have to wait and see what yesterday brings.

This is the latest in a year of Rom-Coms with Magical Realism elements thrown in, but if you can accept that there is no rational explanation for what occurs-you might have fun with this story told in reverse!

Riley wakes up on her one year anniversary to her husband Tristan, delivering coffee and flowers to her in bed, just before the two exchange extravagant gifts. Ah-life is good!

So how can it all implode that same night?

The following morning, Riley awakens and discovers that it is exactly one year later. She isn’t wearing her wedding ring, and her husband’s cousin Milo-a guy she never liked-is lying beside her. Huh?

It turns out that Tristan is now with another woman, and he is a happy new father! None of this is surprising to anyone but Riley. It’s as if she suffered Amnesia after the traumatic break-up and she doesn’t remember how she got to this point.

But, she is starting to remember and she will soon have her answers. As she wakes up each morning, she is moving backward through time to face a year she has already lived.

What will she discover?

I had a rough start with this book and wasn’t sure if I should continue on! In the first chapter, Tristan’s overuse of his pet name for Riley (Miss America) was grating on my nerves. In the second chapter, we meet Riley’s best friend, Poppy, and their conversation was juvenile at best, focusing on materialistic things and sex, all with a lot of crass language.

At 15%, Riley wakes up to Milo who is calling her “Sleeping Beauty” repeatedly. Ugh. Can you tell I hate silly pet names? I really wasn’t sure if I should continue on! But, I wanted to give the story a fair chance so I kept on reading!

And, I have to admit-I DID become as curious as Riley was to find out what “yesterday”would bring.

Poppy never really matures, but she IS a faithful and supportive friend, and the guys seem to like to solve their problems with their fists-but Riley definitely shows character growth, as she lives through having in-laws who don’t think she is “good enough” for her son, and then the pain and humiliation of a divorce.

Too bad we can’t all wake up a year after a traumatic event to see that we are HAPPY and WHOLE again, and then process what happened by living life backwards.

A buddy read with DeAnn. Did this unique story resonate more with her? Be sure to watch for her review!

First off, this cover is gorgeous and immediately made me want to read this book. Then I read the synopsis and seen it had a time travel concept and was immediately intrigued. The time travel concept, when done correctly, makes for some of the best stories and I really wanted to love this one. Unfortunately, this one fell a little flat for me.

Riley, our FMC, is a happily married woman but on her first wedding anniversary she is stuck celebrating it with her in-laws who do not like her. After a tragedy of a party, Riley falls asleep and wakes up exactly one year later to the date, but now she is divorced and dating her ex-husbands cousin. Completely lost and confused, Riley tries to piece together what has happened over the past year. To add to the confusion every time she goes back to sleep and wakes back up the time is trickling down to the original date of her anniversary party, the last day she remembers. Riley is desperately trying to understand what has made her life drastically change paths before she relives that day so she can be prepared for it.
"Yesterday I woke up exactly one year into the future. Today I woke up the day before that. I seem to be living life backward, one day at a time, while no one else notices."

"Some people are very good at hiding who they truly are."

"He's the calm to her storm, the nerdy sweetie pie to her badassery."

Things I enjoyed: I loved the time travel and plot concept. I absolutely adored Milo and the side characters: Poppy and Nesta. Milo was so sweet and Poppy and Nesta were hilarious. The good feelings and vibes I got from this story mostly came from their characters.
"Riley, If you want a guy who just stands on the sidelines when you're being insulted, you're with the wrong one. I don't care who it is. I'll always defend you."

Things I disliked: Even though the idea behind the plot was great, I feel it was poorly executed. The writing lacked depth which made it hard to connect to the characters at times or to stay interested in parts of the book. The ending also felt rushed which left me a dissapointed.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and Sarah Echavarre granting me early access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another audio fail. Not rating this due to my DNF specifically related to the audio version. The narrator is flat and when she attempts a British accent it is jarring and awkward and horrible.

Can’t listen anymore. DNF at chapter two.

Maybe an amazing book so don’t judge based on the above. Will revisit if I can obtain a hard copy or e-book.

A time travel tale à la Groundhog Day, in which a happily married woman goes to bed with her spouse, and wakes up the next day with a different husband. Unlike any book you've ever read!

I really did want to like this book. I love a time travel concept and a sliding doors take off but I found it so dry. The authors writing had no real flavor to it imo and I feel like I never actually knew or connected with the characters. It was just hard to care. I do appreciate the representation of Filipino characters but this is an excellent plot with mediocre writing.

I am always up for a book that plays with time, so I was really excited to get started on this one. And, I really enjoyed it. It was easy to read and it kept my attention throughout. I liked the friendships and also the close (and not so close) family relationships. I also found the ending satisfying.

What might be an issue for some is the strong language. There seemed to be less as the story went on, but maybe that was just because I was getting desensitized. :)

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

First off, thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this!

I really wanted to like this book - and I did like parts of it. I think Milo was a fun character and I enjoyed seeing his relationship with Riley. It was sweet and he was so wonderful to her.

But honestly? I don't get it. I don't fully understand why we had to go to the future then work backwards. It just didn't seem to make much sense to me. I understand it allows her to let go of things and stand up for herself - but I just don't know. It didn't land the way I hoped for me.

Additionally, the family characters were over the top and I got a little sick of the harping on the cheating piece. I totally *get* it was important but by the end I was starting to feel like it was getting slammed in my face and I was just... done.

I don't know. didn't fully land for me is the bottom line here. 🤷‍♀️

I haven’t read many books that have had a time leap element to them, so when I read the blurb on this book, I was excited to read it. This is the first book I have read from this author, and it won’t be my last.
I really enjoyed it. The storyline kept me engaged from the get-go.
Imagine waking up one year in the future and then your whole life is going backwards? The whole concept was so compelling and I was eager to know what happened between Riley, Milo, and Tristan.

Lots of interesting characters in this book. I adored Poppy and Desmond and their relationship. They came across like chalk and cheese, but they were inseparable. I also loved Poppy’s constant loyalty to Riley.

The family dynamics were a huge part to this story. Some of the family elements were so wholesome and warm. They really put a smile on my face. But some of the relationships were strained to say the least. Portia had me seeing red. SE must be a skilled writer to make me hate a character so much. This story does touch upon serious subjects of racism that evoke strong emotions and highlight problems in our society. Unfortunately still today.

Tristan! I just wanted to wallop him (and that’s being polite). The family golden boy! A complete and utter coward. When it came to Riley and being there for her, he was spineless. His love was false, and I was so happy as Riley was living her backwards life, she gradually saw that she deserved a real love.

I loved Milo. He was so patient and caring. I loved that he called Riley “Sleeping beauty” – very apt.
And, Riley, what a fabulous protagonist. I loved her determination, assertiveness, and her vulnerability.

I was so happy with the ending. It was romantic and poignant, and I found myself feeling so happy and contented that Riley had found her happy ending.

“And in this moment - in this world, in this timeline – he’s the only one I want.”

Unputdownable, clever and moving. This story kept me intrigued all the way through. It has made me want to read more books with a time element for sure. Chick flick rom com feels.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for providing me the arc of Never ever you.

- "I thought I was happy. I thought my life was perfect. It wasn't even close."

- "Yesterday I woke up exactly one year into the future. Today I woke up the day before that. I seem to be living life backward, one day at a time, while no one else notices."

Riley's life in London seems idyllic and blissful: a former lingerie model turned successful businesswoman, happily married to a caring husband who's all she needs to balance the not so good parts of her life. However, her perfect world is turned upside down when she wakes up a year after their first marriage anniversary to discover her husband has left her for another woman, with whom he now has a child. To add to the chaos, she finds herself dating her ex-husband's cousin, someone who has always managed to grate on her nerves.

The author skillfully introduces Riley's initial shock and disarray upon discovering her shattered reality. However, beyond the gripping premise, the execution falters. The writing lacks depth and is subpar, leaving characters feeling shallow and just following a poorly written script. The plot was rushed and left many unanswered questions. While the story had the great potential of a charming romantic comedy, it ultimately failed to deliver due to its hasty and abrupt ending.

The concept of living life backwards was really intriguing. I thought it would be weird to know the outcome of events before it happened, but this was done very well in the book. I wanted to know what happened between Tristan, Riley, and Milo, and there was still some suspense that kept me turning the page to find out their history. Also the Audacity of Tristan like are you kidding. I was so mad for Riley. Throughout the whole book, Milo was so understanding, especially in the beginning when Riley was totally freaking out about waking up a year in the future. I could see how his heart broke whenever Riley pulled back. It was enjoyable to see Riley and Milo's journey from being enemies to lovers and how Riley's feelings deepened as she went further back in time. The book also touched on some heavy topics regarding interracial couples and racism from family members. It was great to see Riley recognize the kind of love and respect she deserved from her relationship/partner.

I did feel like the ending was kind of abrupt - I would have loved to see some of the future.

Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC! This comes out Sep 17, 2024!

First of all, I was drawn to this book by the cover. Yes, I can be that shallow, but it's a pretty cover with nice colours.

This is a strange book as the plot moves backwards. Not a spoiler, it's in the book's description. It starts on Valentine's Day, 2024, jumps to Valentine's Day 2025. Then it goes backward to explain how everything changed in the one year. It's confusing to the main character, Riley. It's confusing to me as the reader. But, it's also intriguing. Admittedly, it takes me a while to get into the swing of the backwards timeline. The reader sees the results of actions before the actual actions. Hard to explain but the author makes it work.

The story centres around family dynamics and very dysfunctional and toxic relationships within the family. Books with this theme are usually quite heavy, but Riley somehow lightens it up. The older I get and the more I read, the more I realize how many dysfunctional families exist. Some of the main themes are infidelity, prejudice and friendship. The characters are great, some are lovable, some are not.

If I suspend the fact that my mind likes everything to be logical, this is a fun and entertaining story.

The ending made me smile!

For me this was an entertaining, time-bending romance novel. The main character lives a full year in reverse, waking each morning to the day before. She never knows quite what will happen, only the results from living the previous days and doesn't want to ask too many questions and appear crazy in front of friends & family. I've previously enjoyed Sarah's other books under her other pen name so wasn't too shocked to also enjoy this one. Not a very spicy book but there is some spice. Overall, I enjoyed the time difference & waiting to find out what events lead to the actions of the day she's experiencing. A solid 4-star romance for ingenuity & well written characters.

While magic realism isn't my usual genre, I occasionally explore it to challenge my reading experience. This particular book had an intriguing concept, and I appreciated the resolution where good ultimately triumphed. However, I found myself wanting more depth in the story. The narrative felt a bit disjointed at times, making it hard for me to fully connect with the characters and plot. That said, readers who are more familiar with and enjoy the nuances of this genre may have a different experience

I'm not a magical realism fan but I always think the synopsis' of these type of books sound good and ultimately end up requesting them. Never Ever You kept my attention with the audiobook narration clear and concise. Around halfway through the book though, I found myself thinking the story wasn't really going anywhere. Sadly the ending was rushed as well. Considering this isn't my favorite trope, this book actually showed promise. I will definitely read what this author writes next.

Ridiculousness. This book will certainly find its readers, but I am not one of them. Extremely low stakes (what can the stakes be? The heroine knows everything will be great ahead of time), very predictable and repetitive story.

The characters constantly "swell with emotion," find their jaws on the ground, and watch someone’s eyebrows hit their hairline. “A hard swallow,” I kid you not, moves down someone’s throat at least three times.

I listened to the audio version, and the narrator somehow made the book even worse. She might be great elsewhere, but this was not a good collaboration. The really bad English accent is distracting and goes away and comes back randomly. In the first chapter, it sounds like the MC mocks her British husband's accent. It is very difficult to "hear" different characters.

Cliches, anyone?

In the first ten minutes of the book, we get breakfast in bed on a wooden tray, followed by a sex scene; One love interest has “alabaster skin”, the other “mahogany eyes.”

MC is very happy that her husband was able to “fit her in his schedule” (on their wedding anniversary), so he must “really care.” The man made her a coffee and got her three plastic daisies.

(He is allergic to flowers - a clear sign this guy is the villain of the story and a better man is coming, who will gift her a row of peonies.)

Mentioning the cost of the gifts they give each other?
Being a lingerie model is “how she got her husband?”
“I think I’m ready to pop my pet cherry” is said at one point about finally agreeing to get a cat. 🤢

Thank you, NetGalley, for sharing an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. The book is out on September 17.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for providing this book, with my honest review below.

Time leap (both forward and revere in this case) novel of my dreams, Never Ever You was a delight to read! I’ve always loved novels with the premise of someone living through an alternate timeline or playing with the time in a novel and this one delivered on it flawlessly, being one of only two novels that truly did so with so much style that I’ve read this year (and I assure you, there have been many read).

Ex-model and now entrepreneur Riley is married and celebrating her first anniversary of beyond perfect bliss when she and her husband, Tristan, have a run in with many rude relatives, even coming to punches with Tristan’s cousin Milo. So when Riley wakes up to find herself almost a year in the future - now in a relationship with sarcastic and patronizing Milo, with Tristan in a relationship with his ex, complete with baby, Riley is desperate to find out what happened and go back to her perfect life. Riley quickly realizes that Tristan had to have been cheating on her to have a 9 month old baby but doesn’t understand how she got to this point. As she slowly lives her year in reverse she learns a lot about her own life but also develops confidence and a belief in herself that Milo already has.

This was beyond stellar, deserving every one of its five stars. The pace was perfect (which is saying something given we as readers already know the big things that came to pass and are reading in reverse) and the suspense was excellent, keeping me glued to this novel. Light at times, emotional at others, even tackling some racism, in general so satisfying. If you enjoy modern romances, premises about time travel, or just highly entertaining books - I guarantee you will adore this.

I did not think I would enjoy this story as much as I did!

We meet Riley while she is happy and enjoying her life. She believes she has everything she could need: a doting husband, a shop, and a great best friend! The problem begins when she learns the truth about who her husband is. Riley quickly realizes that her husband has been unfaithful her entire marriage when she wakes up on Valentine's Day 2025 and has to live her life in reverse!

This story is such a shining example of second chances. The people Riley hated at the beginning of this story turn into the people she holds the most dear.

The idea of living life in reverse for a year is so interesting! I thought it was so neat to see big events happen, but all of the ones around Riley have moved on because they have already lived through what happened.

It was also fascinating to watch Riley living in reverse because things that should have bothered Riley more didn't because she already knew the outcome!

If you are looking for a story that makes you think about the people in your circle, second chances, and unconditional love, this is the perfect one for you!

Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Sarah's previous book, What We Remember; I even gave it five stars, and so I was really looking forward to reading this newest offering. But sadly it did not live up to it.

It was a complete diversion from her previous book. I try not to compare books, especially when they're so different, but I couldn't help it as I loved What We Remember so much. This did take me quite a while to get lost in the story, I needed the fantasy elements to come in earlier.

There's three main characters to focus on:

Firstly, our main female character Riley. She's happy but she is frequently put down by her husband's family just because she's not rich, white, and high-class, and was a former lingerie model. And so I did try to like her because she is so unapologetically herself. Then we have her husband Tristan, who we don't know much about to begin with, but seems like a good guy. And finally we have Milo, Tristan's cousin and Riley's surprise future partner.

Sadly, none of these characters worked, they felt a bit 2D, like cardboard cut-outs, no progression, and I didn't like them enough to really care how it ended. I felt for the most part, Riley didn't really seem fussed by what was happening. To begin with she was confused, but then she quickly just sort of accepted it, which didn't sit completely right with me. Surely, you would find yourself more confused and distressed that you were suddenly dating your husband's cousin 1 year into the future. But she was quickly acting like all this time travel was normal which jarred with me.

It felt very disjointed at times, like Sarah had created this timeslip novel but then wasn't 100% sure how to handle it. So it wasn't the smoothest of reads. It was interesting, but didn't live up to what it promised.

You really have to suspend belief to get through it. I know it's fantasy and sci-fi etc, but I'm fine with that, but even fantasy worlds have to make sense in context, and I struggled here. I agree with some other reviews in that it was an interesting and promising plot, but was let down by less-than-stellar writing. I had to almost make myself get to the end because I wanted to know how it resolved itself but I didn't really want to read the rest of it to get there. And when I did get there, it felt a bit unfinished, like a cop-out.

Overall, this sadly did not live up to my expectations. Her previous book was fabulous but this one just fell short for me. But it won't stop me checking out what she writes next.

Can you imagine waking up every day to a day you don’t remember from your past? That’s exactly what Riley Ricci-Chase experiences in Never Ever You by Sarah Echavarre, a romantic comedy that’s as twisty as it is emotional.

We meet Riley on the first anniversary of her marriage to Tristan. She seems to have it all—her shop, great friends, and a husband she adores. The only real blemish in her life? Her relationship with Tristan’s mother who clearly despises her. But despite that tension, everything seems perfect—until it isn’t.

At a celebration in the evening of their anniversary, things take a sharp turn after a family argument at Tristan’s restaurant. After the event, Riley dozes off during the car ride home, only to wake up one year later… and next to someone unexpected. She’s not with Tristan anymore. She’s with Milo, Tristan’s insufferable cousin. As Riley navigates this alternate reality, she realizes she’s moving backward in time, reliving her past year with new knowledge but no memory of how things got this way.

This narrative style—moving in reverse—took me a minute to adjust to. It’s not your typical linear story, but once I settled in after a chapter or two, I found it to be a refreshing and unique way to unfold Riley’s journey. As she rewinds through her life, seeing things from this reversed perspective, you start to question the choices she made and the way her relationships evolve.

The characters shine in this story. Riley is relatable, and it’s fascinating to see her romance develop in reverse, from something seemingly perfect to the unraveling truth. Milo, who initially feels like a thorn in her side, becomes a central figure, and watching the dynamics between them shift is both heartwarming and surprising.

The Narration:

I listened to the audiobook edition narrated by Jennifer Aquino. While she delivered a clear performance, I sometimes felt like she was simply reading the book rather than bringing it to life. Personally, I connect more with narrators who offer a more animated performance. That said, her narration was still enjoyable and easy to follow, making the story accessible for audiobook listeners.

Final Thoughts:

Never Ever You is an intriguing exploration of love, choices, and time. If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted but thought-provoking romantic comedy, this one is worth a listen—or a read.

I received an ARC of this audiobook from the publisher but the thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.

Everyone has that thing that, no matter how it’s written, will just drive them nuts and make them not like a book. For me it’s when the main character has more internal dialogue that external interaction. Unfortunately for me, Ever After You falls victim to this and was not the book for me.

Besides the fact that Riley comes off pretty unlikable in the first few chapters, we get to see most of what happens in this book through what/how Riley thinks about it. Even interactions with other characters ultimately revolve around Riley’s interpretation of it. What that leads to is the same thoughts on a page over and over…how Tristan’s family treats her, how Milo’s family treats her, how Tristan and Milo are different…all repeated multiple times in pretty much the same way. The scenes incorporated are meant to emphasize these thoughts rather than really let us know the characters and couples in a deeper way, and to be honest it drove me crazy. I think I would have really liked Milo if we really got a better sense of who he was instead of just what Riley sees him to be. I wish I got to see more about each couple as a couple so I could form my own opinions of the characters vs. how Riley sees them.

The conflicts also fell very flat for me. Riley’s conflict with Tristan, while big, never felt fully flushed out. Riley’s conflict with Milo just annoyed me…she created more of out something that was already known for the sake of conflict IMO. The plot of this story had so much potential in my eyes, but the execution just wasn’t it for me. While others may not have the same hang-ups, this is a hard book for me to recommend to others.

**Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I appreciate the opportunity.**

After celebrating her first wedding anniversary, Riley goes to sleep content in her seemingly perfect life with her perfect husband Tristan. The next morning, however, she wakes up one year later, divorced and living with her (ex)husband's annoying cousin, MIlo. To further complicate things, Riley wakes the next day to find it's the day prior, and continues to wake up a day prior for an entire year. As she puts the pieces of the puzzle together bit by bit as she works backwards through the year, Riley has to wonder which life she's meant for and what she's supposed to do now.

I loved the concept for this book. I am a huge fan of alternate path stories and the concept of this one (flashing forward a year and then living that year backward) absolutely blew my mind. I had some concerns initially about how it could possibly be structured to make it linear and not confuse the whole thing but this author knocked it out of the park in that respect, it was perfect! Very easy to follow, no issues at all with confusion or continuity, truly impressive.

The thing that holds this book back from being in my absolute favorites list is that I just didn't like Tristan or Riley at all. I didn't hate them, either, they just fell totally flat for some reason which is bizarre because the secondary characters (Milo, Poppy, Nesta, ect) were great! They all seemed real and were all likeable. I just wish something would have been done with Tristan and Riley to make them as interesting and real as the others.

Overall amazing though! I can't get over the execution of the concept! Well done!

Thank you Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for giving me this ARC to review.

A truly unique love story that will keep you on your toes.

On the morning after her first wedding anniversary with Tristan, Riley Ricci-Chase wakes up exactly one year later with no wedding ring and Milo, her husband's cousin, who she hates by her side. The confusion doesn't stop there, as when she runs to find Tristan for comfort and answers she finds that he is living with his ex and has fathered a child. With every new day that comes, Riley is travelling back through time to the mysterious morning after where her life turned upside down. And she is dying to know the answers to what happened with Tristan and what blossomed with Milo.

As a unique take on the amnesia trope, Never Ever You has you gripped from the very start and has you feeling intrigued yet frustrating as you play catchup alongside Riley. Never reading something like this before, I admired Never Ever You and was eager to finish the book to discover the answers that Riley was seeking. Yet I would argue that the plot carried my interest and desire to continue reading, as other aspects such as connecting with the characters and depth within writing fell flat for me personally. I would still recommend this read however as you may have a different experience and it is such a unique plot that was an enjoyable experience to read for the first time.

I really struggled with this book and it just wasn’t for me.

The whole backwards timeline was confused with no real explanation about what or why this had happened. I kept thinking we’ll get to the end and find out what this is all about but it was a bit of a cop out with no explanation, like it might as well as been ‘and it was all a dream’ kind of ending.
As a main character, Riley was hugely unlikeable - obnoxious, full of herself and thought herself better than others. None of the secondary characters made up for this sadly, with most feeling very one dimensional and only there to prop up Riley’s ego. The writing style wasn’t for me either, and I found it a little lazy, for example numerous occasions Riley woke up in a different timeline and thought what had happened or where her relationship with a particular person was up to, and miraculously another character would just stumble into a conversation about it. There was also a lot of repetition of conversations and themes throughout which felt like a lot of filler.

Normally I finish a book in a day or two but I found this one a real slog and took me well over a week to get through. There were many times I considered giving up but I like to give the benefit of doubt and hope there’ll be an exciting twist or ending to make it worthwhile but there really wasn’t. Just not for me I’m afraid.

What an amazing concept- if only it was done right 😭

Okay maybe it was me- I just didn’t connect with this book like I thought I would 🥺 I got soooo bored 🫣

We follow Riley who was happily married, until she wakes up one year later with her husbands cousin ( who she hates btw) to find they are now going out.

Weird, to get with your ex husband’s cousin but we move on.

We basically follow Riley as she heads back in time to figure out what happened. While she falls in love with milo ( the cousin)

For me a murder would have made this book far more interesting, but we get a fire instead.

The writing is easy to follow and enjoyable and made me laugh a few times.
The characters had depth and added something to the story. I especially enjoyed poppy character. But I just got bored very easily, you find out what is going to happen early on- I think the author intended it to make me want to read on but instead it worked the opposite.

Also who drinks earl gray in England I am a Yorkshire tea girly through and through

Overall it was good in parts but I struggled to get through most of it

Thank you NetGalley for gifting me this book for a honest review

The premise of this book is honestly so captivating with the most interesting characters to accompany the reader on this distorted timeline journey. I was worried that the execution of the plot would go very wrong, but to my surprise, it's done brilliantly.

The story opens on Riley's anniversary, which happens to be valentine's day, and she's deeply in love with her husband Tristan. When she falls asleep that night, she wakes up exactly one year ahead in time, with her Tristan's cousin Milo (who they both hate) driving her car. Turns out, in the span of the year, she divorced Tristan, got together with Milo, and Tristan now has an infant. The only problem is- she doesn't know how any of this happened.

I don't remember the last time I read a book with family dynamics this relatable where you hate these relatives but have to tolerate them. The author handled these scenes with perfection to make me instantly pissed off when those characters were just mentioned. Couldn't recommend this book more, it's so good!!

I love books like this, where there is a time slip blip, sliding doors kind of scenario and this one didn't let me down, as well as being different to anything else I've read. I was engaged from the very start as we met Riley and her husband Tristan, who were deeply in love.

And then Riley wakes up, having jumped one year ahead, with Tristan's cousin Milo in her bed! She can't stand Milo and neither can anyone else! As Riley's days start to move back in time, day by day, she discovers that everyone now adores Milo and Tristan is very much the bad guy. What went wrong with Tristan, and what changed her view of Milo?

There were some great moments as Riley tries to extort information from people without arising suspicion, particularly when they were discussing what happened the night before - a night that Riley hasn't lived yet - and I really enjoyed how the author very cleverly revealed the development of her relationship with Milo, backwards!

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Sarah Echavarre and Lake Union for an ARC in return for an honest review.
