Perfect for those love crime thrillers with a good and decent main character — noble friends — action — clean language — no graphic sex — a little romance — and an undertone of faith from a Christian worldview.
Some crimes are beyond imaginable, especially when they strike close to home. Those crimes sometimes deserve a special brand of Frontier Justice.
In this 2nd installment in the BIG SKY Series, Sheriff Wade Lockhart tracks his prey, a man suspected of murdering one of his deputies, to a neighboring Mountain state.
And with each new development in the case, Wade realizes his just quest will soon put him to the test—as a lawman, and as a man of virtue.
Because lurking beneath this 45-year-old’s rugged exterior, and steely resolve, are unseen forces fighting for his attention...
Justice and Revenge.
And near Yellowstone National Park, while closing in on his adversary, Wade fears those two forces are on a deadly, life-changing collision course.
Entertaining crime thriller — in a modern-day country setting — featuring a no-nonsense sheriff, beautiful scenery, and fast-paced action.

“Ambush” tells a great story, it's just a pity that the writing lets it down somewhat. One example is a direct lift from the first book in the series (“Big Sky):- “She sported an inverted triangle-shaped body - broad shoulders, small hips, and slender legs.” The author, promising a curse-free book, created an unusual problem for himself when people (bless 'em) used bad language:- “Tell them it would be great if they could get off their fat,” he cursed, “and take a look at a few seconds of video.” He offered his condolences, and I told him to go,” Baxter let loose with a vulgar term, “himself.” “I wish I knew. He owes me for this month’s rent, and my landlord is up my,” she cursed, “about it.” “He’s usually here every night.” A moment. “Actually, I’m starting to think the little,” she uttered a vulgar euphemism, “bailed on me.” Vulgar euphemism? That's bloody unusual! Set in and around Montana, Big Sky Sheriff Wade Lockhart is devastated (also a deputy) when his son is murdered. There's only one thing on his mind and it ain't justice. There were three men in the car and he's going to track them to hell and back whatever it takes. There are a number of good set-pieces and, of course, Sierra and her K9, Ranger, help in the final search. 3 Stars.
Extremely good read. Reminds me so much of Longmire. This is one of my favorite shows. The plot line moves quickly but holds the readers interest. I have read both of the first 2 books and look forward to reading the rest.
