Charming the panties off ladies is one of my favorite things to do. Well, and what happens after the panties come off. I keep my love life light and fun. Rarely do I have repeats, and only if and when the woman wants a commitment less than I do.
Until I meet her. Sad, gorgeous, whiskey eyes and a mouth that I fantasize wrapping around all my hard parts. But the words that come out are just as amazing. She’s witty. Funny. And a little mysterious.
It’s more than her stunning looks that pulls me in. It’s how easily she plays along with my banter without my charm going to her head. She doesn’t leap across the bartop to get into my pants. Not that I’d mind, but it’s that she’s holding herself back when most women don’t that intrigues me.
My heart drops when I turn around and she’s gone, but she leaves something behind. Her hotel keycard and her room number.
MAIA
I’ve never been so brazen or forward with a man. Leaving my hotel key was the bravest or stupidest thing I’ve ever done. Only time will tell. The knock on my door has me regretting my decision, but I’m determined to start living my life again. The past five years have been wonderful and miserable, and I’ve been living for one soul purpose, but not my own. Tonight is about me and my needs. Not everyone’s expectations and what they need from me.
What I don’t expect is for Ryder to be so gentle and understanding. That is, until we get down and dirty. For as considerate and gentlemanly as he is, when clothing is stripped, he’s a dirty talking sexy beast. My body has never felt so alive. He doesn’t look at me with pity. He doesn’t handle me with kid gloves. He treats me like a goddess, and I’m all for it.
But when I wake in the wee hours of the morning, I walk away, needing to keep my fantasy night real.
What I don’t expect is Ryder to track me down. Or him to buy me coffee every morning until I agree to a date. I’m not his type. He’s not mine. What I have, what I am, is exactly what he’s been avoiding all his life.
This was the first book series I read from Emery Quinn and I enjoy her style.
Each of the Four Aces had their own backstory but it wasn't the main part of the story. The main part was the brotherhood between these 4 best friends that came from nothing, found each other, built a successful casino together running their individual roles, finding a love and falling in love. But nothing still breaking through that brotherhood but the wives making it stronger.
There's alot of books out there about sisterhood but somehow Emery not only outlined the brotherhood but sisterhood as well that the wives all accepted each other for all their quirks. But also the wives supporting the other ace's (like with the 3 girls helping Ryder through his tough times).
Now to Ryder's book. We find out a bit more about Ryder; but most we already knew. We meet Maia the only woman that could get him to fall in love with her. The relationship and the storyline develops at a great pace. We get plenty of steamy scenes but there is never any crassness to them like you might except from a 'ladies man'.
We are also given a bonus Epilogue that is maybe 2 years or more (we're not actually told).
Yes, you may notice spelling mistakes or wrong use of characters names and the book could probably use editing again to fix this (and definitely the bonus Epilogue) but it was just realised when I read it.
I will look out for Emery Quinn's up coming series because I enjoyed her writing style.
Getting to read about Ryder in the previous three books was the fun all of the books needed. Buttt in his own book, his funny comments and dirty jokes were the icing on the cake in this book. Ryder Benton is the head chef of Red, the five star restaurant in the Four Aces Casino. Maia Remington is a salon owner that happens to get a gift certificate to Red. Sitting at the bar, where Ryder is bartending for the night, she orders a drink and starts a very funny conversation with Ryder. Eventually she leaves but when Ryder goes to get her check, he finds she left a room key. He is already pretty smitten by her and leaves the restaurant to go to her room. She’s wanting to leave before he gets there but doesn’t get a chance to bc he knocks. After having a “fun” night, she leaves him in the morning. This is completely different from what he is used to since he’s the one that normally leaves. They start a relationship of sorts but she doesn’t tell him that she was married and is now a widow with a daughter. This changes things for him but because he is head over heels for her already, he wants to see where it goes. Her friend Flynn causes issues with Maia and Ryder and it causes Ryder to ghost Maia and Ruby. Eventually Avery gets with Maia to form a plan and Ryder and Maia get back together. The three of the them have a HEA!
Hungry Hearts is Book 4 of Four Aces and a great ending to the series. Ryder is the hunky and charming playboy of the four. Maia is a young, widowed mother out looking for a fun night. She decides to be bold after meeting Ryder at the bar and leaves her room key. They have a really hot night of passion, and Maia doesn't expect to see him again. But he finds her as can't stop thinking about her. They had insane chemistry, and Ryder was so cute with her daughter. He did upset me at one point, and I think Maia needed more groveling from him. But I still loved it and loved this whole series!!.

The last few chapters, the easy forgiveness from the fmc when in reality the MC needed a kick or two , simply spoilt the seemingly good book. If you love someone, you give them the benefit of doubt, not turn into a dumb asshole, which is exactly what Ryder turned to. Had there been grovel from the MC(hell if the fmc didn't confront the dipshit he would have continued on with his wrong notions), perhaps this book could have been salvaged , but nope the author turned the sweet book to garbage for me.
This is the fourth book in this incredible series, and this is playboy Ryder, and widowed, single mom Maia’s story. This is a well written story which has family, friendships, undeniable chemistry, emotions, romance, humor, witty banter, tension, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy addictive page turner. This is the last book of the Four Aces series, featuring four friends. Ryder and Maia's story is just as romantic, dramatic and steamy as the previous books. Maia is a single mum who catches Ryder's eye and gets under his skin in their steamy and sexy story. I've loved reading this series, and now I can go back and read the whole series from start to finish.

This was a great single (widowed) mom/playboy romance. While this is the 4th book in the series it can be read as a standalone (which is how I read it). I liked Maia’s character because she was so dedicated to her daughter…and also so innocent! She may have had a true love that died but her attitude about how “the heart will grow if we allow it to” is so sweet and allows her to love infinitely. Ryder and the birthday creation made my heart melt! Any man willing to embrace children of their significant other and treat them as their own is book boyfriend material! Overall this was a great romance that I would recommend!
