Markela aka Bossi is in a league of her own. She has written off love based off of her past and what was displayed to her as a child. She is a beautiful full-figured woman thriving and maintaining her rehab clinics that were passed down to her from her mother. Trauma keeps her locked into a world of her own until the universe speaks and sends her him…
He never thought he would change up the way he operated as an Alpha male….
Symere aka Dinero has a million ways to give a woman what she needs sexually. Romantic intimacy is the one thing that he is void of. During the day he is a Financial Advisor and the CEO of Fugotti Enterprise. At night, he collects bloody debts on behalf of his uncle Timothy Fugotti Sr. Symere never thought that a woman could have him so smitten. Markela literally came crashing into him, making him question his way of doing things.
This book will warm you up like a warm summer day. It will drive you fast around a cliff, and just when you thought you would fall off from all of its twist and turns. It brings you back to a world full of comfort while making intrusive thoughts pop into your head guiding you right back to a world with no boundaries. Symere will have you questioning all of your darkest desires when it comes to a man making a woman bow down and surrender to his dominant nature.
The authentic and unexpected love between Symere and Markela builds throughout this book. Is the kind of love we look for in real life but only seem to find within the pages of a book.
Bow Down was a sexy, thigh clenching, emotionally driven, good read for me. Dinero was a financial advisor by day and debt collector by night for the Fugotti Family. Markela owned several substance abuse rehab facilities and epitomized "independent woman." Both were not looking to settle down and in fact had a rough first encounter when Markela accidentally crashed into Dinero's car. From the first meeting until the end, there was never a dull moment with these two. The story captured my attention and I enjoyed getting lost in their whirlwind of love. The chemistry, physically, emotionally, and mentally oozed from the pages. It also didn't hurt that both were submerged in the world of BDSM.
What I loved the most about this book was the complexity of the characters and getting to experience their journey of facing their past traumas. The storyline was multifaceted, and the plot twists were unexpected. The title and cover alluded to this being an erotic tale, and while there are elements of that, it was not the whole story. The book had a strong plot that was not overshadowed by the spice. Masterpiece provided awareness and education in the mental health and medical realm. She demonstrated how the characters were impacted by those things and the steps they took to better themselves. The prologue was intense, but played a major role in the future of both characters. And just when I thought I had everything figured out, the plot started twisting and I appreciated the change in pace. There's a balance of grown and sexy, vulnerability, empowerment, safety and trust displayed throughout the book that did it for me. I also appreciated the relationship the characters had with their family members and their honest dialogue. I am looking forward to more and any potential spin-offs because the characters hold a special place in my heart. Amazing job on this one!
For most of the initial smex encounters this was a spicy read. Towards the end it just felt redundant. Overall while it liked the concept enough to push through, I didn’t enjoy the writing style. A lot of the emotional/romantic confessions/conversations read more like things you would expect to be more of an internal monologue. The story overall was ok I just couldn’t fully stay into the story because of the way things were written.
This was an ok read. It definitely had its good and boring parts Lots of trauma Lots of spice-BDSM Some fluff making this read a little longer than needed. Symere & Markela needed each other to heal from their pasts and ended up falling in love despite saying NEVER.
I went into Bow Down expecting an intriguing storyline, but unfortunately, it didn’t deliver. The book felt like 70% smut, 5% trauma, and the rest was filler. The storyline was flat, and I couldn’t get invested in the main characters or their so-called love story. Everything happened too conveniently, with little emotional depth or real development. There was potential, but the execution just didn’t work for me. If you’re looking for a more meaningful plot, this one might leave you disappointed. It's a 2-star read for me.
Yea Masterpiece you did that. This was a really good story outside of the spice/bdsm. The storyline and what was going on in each characters lives was interesting and heartbreaking. Masterpiece was definitely not slacking on giving a well rounded story.
For a minute i didn’t know whether to be turn on or off by Boss LOL. (Real quick i loved the characters names.) Back to regular program. It was nice how they both seen something in each other that made them want more and be open. Being able to trust is important. Both had not amazing past but now they have businesses and their own money and survived things that should have broke them. Now honey the plot twist in here had me taken aback. Like OMG!!!!!! I wouldn’t say a third act breakup because i think anybody would have reacted the same. But what i will say is that it was tugging at my heart how Boss was hurt and just wanted his Darling to be ok. We really got to see more of both their softer sides. A small world.
All in all the book is worth the read. I listened on the hoopla app. Oh yea, that damn cousin Tip i believe was too funny.
This book was good from the beginning to the plot twist at the end! My emotions were all tangled up. I love this book so much! I love the complexity of each character and how it was all connected. I enjoyed that this book wasn’t just about erotic moments, it was about showcasing mental health and the awareness around trauma.
The book could be tense in the beginning.
Overall this book was the definition of grown and sexy, it showed vulnerability and strength. The honesty between these two characters was so beautiful.
Masterpiece has a new fan, first book of hers and won’t be the last. I can’t wait for the novella to come soon!
This one started really slow for me and also dragged a bit. I strongly considered putting it down bc the MMC was a bit too aggressive for me in the beginning.
Kela & Symere were the walking definition of hurt people hurt people, but they found solace in each other, brought together to heal on another.
The background stories of were a bit hard to get around for me as they were really long, but added needed value to the story. It touched heavy on mental health illness which can be a lot to digest, but the TW was there from the beginning.
I really Loved this story of Symere & Markela! The way they just fell in love was just 🥵! Loved how he loved on her and made her feel safe!! if you love a lil smut and Sub/Dom action this is a must read!!

I did not enjoy this book for many reasons. Generally speaking, I was not a fan of the writing style and word choice. These things, along with many grammatical and syntax errors, really took me out of the ability to focus on the story itself because I’m trying to decipher what is being said.
Additionally, the story itself was just so unrealistic. I do understand that it’s a work of fiction and that by nature, it doesn’t necessarily need to be realistic. However, I think unless otherwise specified that the fiction is mythical, magical, speculative, etc., I assume that most romance/steamy books are still generally based in reality. This book felt very soapy. Some of the traits and characteristics of the characters lives, especially the main male character, were just so over-the-top. There were also so many “plot twists” and subplots that were never revisited or wrapped up poorly once the author realized the book was ending and things hadn’t been addressed.
The actual romance itself was based almost completely in sex. Don’t get me wrong, I love a steamy book and fully expected that I would get that from this book. However, the couple fell in love after like 2-3 encounters, most of which were sexual, and literally knew almost nothing about each other. The pacing of their relationship was so fast and seemed grounded in nothing substantial.
Overall, I just think that maybe I wasn’t the target audience for this book.

Markela is trying to thrive after a tragic childhood and isn't looking for a relationship at all, or to submit to a man in any way. She runs into Symere aka Dinero, literally, and he's a Dom who wants her to bow down and open herself to being at his mercy, first with her body, then with her heart.
Okay, so let's start with what I liked about this book. I loved Ruby. I loved that Symere had an emotional support animal and he doted on his dog. I loved his and Markela's passion. The scenes with them connecting physically were written very well, in terms of details and feeling. I loved that they connected with each other outside of scenes and built a bond where they surrendered their hearts and exposed the darkness they dealt with. I loved the honesty between them.
Given all of that, I am disappointed in the way the story arc developed. First, this book had the barest of content warnings and I think they should have been specific. The beginning pages simply said there was explicit content and to watch your triggers, but I feel like the possible triggers should have been named--there was a lot of trauma of varying degrees in this story, and I think it should have been spelled out.
Second, the book touched on so many tough topics, and this hit me in a couple of different ways: first, it was hard sometimes to see the romance, or even feel the passion in the erotic scenes because of what it was surrounded with, and second: I don't know if I feel like some of the topics were treated as delicately as I wanted them to be. As an example, the author used the word "crazy" all throughout the book to describe people who had diagnosed mental illnesses, which isn't the best word choice anymore. And in terms of the bdsm, the couple had a dominant/submissive relationship, but we never see them talk about their needs, terms, hard and soft limits. She never even picks a safe word. They just start having sex and doing scenes. So things like that took me out of the story when I was trying hard to immerse myself.
Overall, the premise was good, but for me it mis stepped a lot in terms of content and the way it was handled.
Trigger warnings: violent death of a parent, discussions of mental illness, drug addiction, psychosis, grief, abandonment, and chronic illness with blackout episodes
I read the kindle version of this in January and loved Bow Down so much. I absolutely ate it up. Dinero and Kela were *everything*.
With the audiobook recently releasing I HAD to check it out and wow wow wow. So glad that I did! I didn’t believe the story could get any better but the narrators brought the pages to life. Everyone had a distinct voice, even the dog sitter, and TIP (Dineros cousin) had me in stitches from laughing. I’m sure I will give this another listen in the future.
Character dev: 👤👤👤👤 Originality: 📝📝📝📝📝 Narration: 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️ Plot: 📖📖📖📖 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Action: 👊🏽👊🏽 Troupe: Dom/Sub , AA romance Triggers: mental illness, violence (mostly off page)
If you’re looking for a black dom and/or plus size heroine, this is the book for you. Sprinkle in a lil crime family drama, mental illness, disabilities, a service dog and family secrets. Highly recommend for a quick spicy read.
This grew on me! It started off with a shock then I said a gangsta who is into BDSM? And then the horrible tragedy that connects him to his sub?! Wheew. Then it just kept getting good. Spice level was definitely 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️So if you looking for some heat Masterpiece got you covered with this one. I had to pause a couple times.🥵Sheesh lol. Enjoy!
4.5 🌟 I came for the spice and stayed for the romance! When I say, Authoress Masterpiece wrote an emotionally beautiful BDSM romance between Markela and Symere, it feels like that still doesn't describe just how much I loved this novel. And the way Symere (aka Boss or Dinero) just oozed dominant BDE was leaking from the pages! MY GAWD.
This novel is the perfect example of the fact that erotica can be more than just spicy, steamy, nasty sex scenes, because while this had all that AND then some... I fell in love with how Markela and Symere fell in love despite the very traumatic past/link they shared. They both simultaneously broke down each other's walls while showing one another a genuine, healthy love connection was possible and chose to bow down to the other.
This was honestly a 5 star read for me, but I cannot give it the full 5 stars because the editing was horrendous and needed to be done with much more care! 😑 But other than that major setback, this was a phenomenal read!!! I'm rooting for Boss and Bossi to find all the love and happiness they desire AND deserve from one another, because I will definitely be reading their follow-up novella whenever Authoress Masterpiece blesses us with it! 🙌🏾
WHEW BAAAABBBYYYYY!!!! A time was had in this book… DO YOU HEAR ME?! 🔥
When I say Authoress Masterpiece has NO CHILL with the pen game, I mean it wholeheartedly. Bow Down is an unforgettable, spicy, and wild ride that had me locked in from page one!
The story follows Symere “Dinero” and Markela “Bossi”, two characters who weren’t dealt the best hand in life but know how to play to WIN. Markela is the true definition of BOSSY—dominant, headstrong, and refusing to be controlled. With a father and bonus mom who would give her the world, she’s no stranger to getting what she wants.
But then there’s Symere… THE MAN. THE LEGEND. THE DOM OF ALL DOMS! 😮💨🔥 The crash between them was INEVITABLE—and NECESSARY. Bossi swore she would NEVER bow down to any man, but NEVER SAY NEVER! One night, one request… and BABY, EVERYTHING CHANGED!
I can’t even tell you how Mason turned Markela every way but loose, but just know—you MUST READ THIS to experience EVERY. SINGLE. THING. 🔥🔥🔥
And let me warn you now: This read is EXTRA SPICY. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ If you love dominant men, boss women, and a romance that is both intense and unforgettable, this is the book for you!
Another hot read for the books! 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 📚🔥
This book grabbed my attention right from the start, around 4% in, and took me on a rollercoaster of feelings. I found myself shocked, sad, angry, and then flipping to happy, pumped, overjoyed, and even left me going "wtf" at times. Then, it wrapped up with a happily ever after. The plot twist was totally unexpected and had me hooked. I was thrilled to see everything come together in the end. The dynamic between Boss and Bossi was something else—his ability to handle and tame Bossi's stubborn and strong-willed nature was unmatched. He was the epitome of masculinity, offering Bossi the protection and safety she desperately needed after everything she'd been through. It was clear they were meant for each other, providing the peace and balance the other needed.
This is my first book by this author and I can't wait to read more of their other books! I enjoyed the different plot twists, the bdsm scenes and the spicy scenes were definitely SPICY! It was fast paced and entertaining.
*Bow Down: When A BBW Submits* by Jenine Corneal presents an intriguing dynamic between its characters. Markela, a successful and self-assured woman managing her family’s rehab clinics, has shut herself off from love due to past trauma. Her life changes dramatically when she encounters Symere, a complex Alpha male who leads a double life as a financial advisor and debt collector.
Symere’s character is compelling. He balances his dominant persona with a hidden vulnerability that emerges through his interactions with Markela. Their relationship develops in unexpected ways, challenging their views on intimacy and control. Markela’s initial resistance gives way to a fascinating exploration of power dynamics and emotional growth.
The story is filled with dramatic twists that keep the reader engaged, though some might find the transitions between high tension and comfort jarring. The romance between Markela and Symere is portrayed with genuine emotion, making it a captivating read for those interested in stories of transformation and complex relationships.
This was a decent read that did move my emotions. I don’t see what the point of Symere being an enforcer to his uncle’s loan sharking really even mattered to the story. Maybe it was just something to reinforce his being a hardass that just wasn’t needed because nothing was added. I’d give this story about 2.5 stars because when Markela left Symere towards the end after she found out a revelation that I saw coming after they told each other about their pasts I felt it really made no sense. I get that she was scarred from what happened at her mom’s wedding but her reaction and blame laying made no sense, then for her to say she never too off the chain he gave her because deep down she knew she wasn’t leaving him, but since people don’t make sense all the time I guess her contrarinesses can be expected.
I like that Symere was emotionally intelligent and didn’t mind shedding a tear or two for the woman he loves.
