Just one wrong turn and her life will never be the same again...

Abbie’s husband walked out on her two months ago. She’s now a single mother of a two-year-old, fighting to keep her job and a roof over their heads. She’s up for a promotion, and she needs it, but the universe has other plans.

Faced with a long tailback on her daily commute, Abbie follows a car down what she thinks might be a way around the traffic. It’s a dead end, and she drives straight into a murder scene.

At first she’s willing to be a witness and help the police convict the high-profile killer, but after her son’s life is threatened, she pulls out.

What happens next is out of her control. She’s thrown into a world of lies, violence, and deceit; where not all the good guys are on her side, and her worst fears are used to manipulate her.

But even the toughest criminal is no match for a mother’s revenge.

Perfect for readers who enjoyed The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.

Gwyn Bennett is a best-selling author who writes intriguing fast-paced character driven crime mysteries.

She's always been a writer, initially working as a broadcast journalist and newsreader for the BBC and ITN in London, before she was able to become a full-time fiction author. Gwyn undertakes a lot of research for her books, weaving fact in with the fiction in order to make them relatable to readers. Her favourite days are when she hears from people who have enjoyed her books and meeting the characters.

Gwyn was born in England, but has lots of Welsh and some Irish blood in her. She now lives in the tiny Channel Island of Jersey, where her husband was born, with her family, rescue dog, and geriatric goldfish. Apart from being chief dog slave and fish feeder, she enjoys walking, yoga and eating crisps, with a bit of gardening when the sun shines.

I just love a juicy psychological thriller that really gets my brain doing overtime, and Dead End by Gwyn Bennett did just that. I was engrossed from beginning to end and didn't see that plot twist ending coming.

Character wise, I was really rooting for Abbie. Her love and devotion to her son was beautiful, so it was horrible seeing her mixed up in the devastation. All the characters were developed well, even Harper, the bit on the side 😉

I'm in awe of Bennetts writing style, her ability to draw the reader in and keep them guessing until the very end. I finished this in one sitting, so it says it all really!

Thriller fans, this is a must read, I for one, looks forward to reading more from this author in the future. [ heads off to check out the back catalogue of books]

Thank you to Random Things Tours and Gwyn Bennett for a gifted digital copy of the book and the tour opportunity.

What a brilliant book! My first from Gwyn and won't be my last! Excited to read more from other series. I really enjoyed the cat and mouse aspect of this book. The witness to a murder, the twists and turns and not knowing who you can trust!

This book is a real thrill ride and you are on the edge of your seat trying to work out who knew what and why they wanted to know certain things. High profile murders, cover ups, secrets, twists, suspense, this book has it all!

I loved Abbie's character, her motherly love for Ben is paramount and she wants to protect him at all costs. Abbie's work involvement with the journalist opens up a can of worms and you are taken along for the ride! Running late for a meeting and taking the side road turn off - that seemed a quick detour to avoid the traffic set her whole world upside down when it turns out to be to a dead end and she witnesses something she shouldn't have. This is a fast paced read, with a real love, hate emotion towards certain characters. It was well written and I cannot wait to read more from Gwyn in the future!

Here is my review for Dead End by Gwyn Bennett

This was a fast paced book which I managed to get into from the start. The writing was pacy and I just loved Abigail from the moment her life changed for the worst and she realised it. Then DS Barnes helped her and he was so different to the leading DI on the case that Abigail felt that her life and her son’s life was in danger whether she testified or not. It seemed Nick made her feel safe in a way no man had, not even her ex-husband. This was a fabulous read, full of tension, pace and good writing. It held all my attention so I read the book in a day and thoroughly enjoyed it, I found I couldn’t put it down. I hope to read more books by this author, especially if they are all of this high calibre.

This is the first book I've read by this author so wasn't sure what to expect - but loved the look of the front cover which drew me in - and I was so not disappointed!

This was a super fast-paced thrilling read from start to finish.

When Abi is running late one morning, she heads down what she thinks is a short cut, only to get stuck in a dead end and a murder scene.
When she steps forward as a witness, threats to her son force her to make decisions that will change her life forever.

It was really easy to relate to our main character, Abi. As a mother myself, I know how it feels to be juggling life and work and that feeling of always running late and taking short cuts in everything.
Not that I've ever got caught up in a crime scene - but having this affinity helped me instantly connect and feel that same pressure as I was reading.

I loved the writing style which was totally immersive and had me on the edge of my seat - again, being a mum, I could feel my heart pounding, thinking about just how far we'd go to protect our children

I was hooked from the start and raced through this one in only a couple of sittings!

This standalone thriller is so very exciting! Abbie, a journalist and single mother, by fluke, witnesses something she should never have seen. From that point, things spiral, with plenty of intrigue, murder and twists and turns to a thrilling climax.
So very well written, I was gripped from the start. Abbie is a believable and likeable central character. I have loved all of Gwyn's books and this is no exception. Highly recommended.

I couldn’t put this book down and it certainly kept me gripped. I had a suspicion that there would be a twist but it kept me getting as to what it would be.

A reasonable story thread but lacked any depth in the characters; very disappointing.

Well - that was gripping!
A fast-paced read, and although I kind of guessed how it would end it didn't detract from the story.

This book had me gripped from the off, I love it when we start at a point near to the end and then go back to see who it is and how we got there!

The pacing of the book is good and I found that the chapters seemed to fly past. As I was reading I felt so sorry for Abby our main character, I mean how much can one person deal with right?

She manages really well but as I said you do feel for her. The storyline is well constructed and builds up piece by piece towards the ending where all is revealed and I was like no way, I’d had a little fleeting thought along the way but dismissed it!!

The definition of taking a wrong turn!! Abbie is such an interesting character, she already had so much going on and juggling work/mum life and then witnessing a murder added into the mix.

The authors writing style really drew me in, I was visualising Abbie peaking out of her car to see what was happening. I also liked that we saw both her career and home life.

There so many twists and turns, I didn’t know who to trust!
