Let me tell you, THE STORY FROM THE BEGINNING TILL THE END IT WAS SOOOO GREAT! NOT BORING AT ALL! IT’S SO FUNNY, ROMANTIC, HOT AND THE PLOT TWIST OMG… IT WAS WORTH IT! I love it all guys… It just never gets boring! It’s so fun! ☺️

So the story begins with the heroine and her best friend sofia is going to have a night out wearing a mask to go to this club that her friend invited her… She also wants to do this cause she wants to pretend to be someone else that night, yes crazy fantasy lol. When she went there, she was dancing and having fun but all of sudden a man catch her eye. He was also wearing a mask. The man went for her table and grab her hand to danced and after a couple of minutes, they sit and he let her to sit on his lap… When the man tries to kiss her neck and the heroine grind her body to his thigh, the man say something to her that immediately got her attention cause it was the first time he said something to her. IT TURNS OUT THAT MAN WAS HER CHEATING EX BOYFRIEND THAT SHE BROKE UP RECENTLY 😆😆 Damn what a story there🤣 I find that so funny…. OKAY SO when the heroine hear his voice and recognize him, she immediately stand and jerk away from the man aka ex. He tries to defend himself to her but she doesn’t want to hear it (good girl) she said goodbye and walked away ASAP. She heard him calling her but she still walks away. Suddenly she crash into someone, someone wearing a navy suit with soft green eyes with black mask cover his face… He helped her by holding her, and (my favorite part) HE EVEN gets her a water and let her sit beside him (he was alone btw which thank goodness). She laugh a little thinking why this man helping her in a club when she was no one… and in a club lol. But he immediately say to her "I'm not the kind of guy you think i am.”. Then her ex boyfriend shows up and even call her BABE 🤣 But the navy suit guy defend her to that ex boyfriend and even punch him… After that whole fiasco, the ex finally left the building aka club. And then They got into talking and flirty 😋😋 Things were getting heated up so the navy suit guy call his driver to drive them to a hotel… In the car, the heroine immediately say her real name… They arrived at the hotel, flirting in the elevator and even foreplay till they’re in the room. And of course, they had a great mind blowing s3x that night… The next day the heroine have a important interview and when she woke up at the hotel, she was alone but the navy suit guy left her a note and even his personal phone number… When she arrived at the company and were going to have her interview, she was asked by the HR to meet the CEO. i saw way too many reels about this book not to read it, and while the scenes i was promised were great, literally everything else was a clusterfuck. what do you MEAN her dad is some mafia guy?! what do you MEAN a version of edna mode is making her do a personal lingerie show?! what do you MEAN somehow him playing the piano gets his father arrested?! what do you MEAN they only talk about their very serious trauma once completely off the page?! bestie i know the writing tip is show not tell, but god telling is better than just kinda pretending that there is a story there

I've recently had trouble sticking to a book and it was making me super sad but this one instantly hooked me. Damien Bass had me in a chokehold its not even funny.
The plot twists were amazing and the romance was romancing like I loved everything so so much. Hannah and Damien are so good together I am literally in love with them both.
The writing was immaculate and I loved all the characters (apart from Sterling).
Honestly super happy because i found a reel about this book on instagram and instantly put it in my library and i have zero regrets. I fully could not stop reading, hence why i finished it at 4am hehehe.
Im most definitely going to read the next book in this series and alexis has definitely become one of my fav authors!!

I cannot express how much i loved Alexis’s writing. She fully got me hooked onto this book when my attention span was lacking. Like genuinely i loved this so so much.

Guys seriously be so fking for real. We need to want better for ourselves. What is this. I read this in 4 hrs on a flight, and I usually don’t regret dumb books but this one? This one I would take back.

I need a damien in my life
What's more to love? Instant chemistry, banter, character growth, and a little suspense?? I believe this is my first time reading this author and boy was I not disappointed, the writing was great there wasn't super unnecessary angst but a good amount of tension, and I would say it's in-between medium and fast paced. You get a bang in the beginning and then it starts back up about 60% in.
This book centers on Hannah a 23 year old trying to make it in New Yorks tech world. Her boyfriend douche canoe.. I mean Sterling was caught cheating on her and her bff Sophia finally forces her out of the house and in to a club to dance and possibly get under someone else. Enter sexy Damien who's 33 who is successful in his own right by building his own company from the ground up not using a penny of his families money. Hannah and damien have instant chemistry and they end up going home together. Well the next day she goes in for an interview... where you might ask? Yup Damiens tech company.. and who is damien?? Sterlings older brother needless to say Hannah is shocked and not happy she's been duped.
Damien strikes a deal with Hannah for 2 months and during this deal they develop a friendship where we see Hannah's growth in her strength and confidence and damiens is the power to shed old wounds and open his heart to something that isn't toxic and also learns that it's ok to not live breathe and sleep work. The characters really meshed well Hannah is the silver lining kind of girl just happy to be there where damien is the broody don't give af except for Hannah... he's always been sweet for her. I won't tell you anything else about the actual plot because you should go in relatively blind but there's some delicious twists and turns and a good dose of miss karma at the end.

It felt like I was reading wattpad..
There was absolutely no plot until the last 10% which seemed pointless to me?
The book was utter filth which was great 🤣 but apart from that…. Meh
I really didn’t understand Hannah & Damien being pared together.. we never really found out anything about his Dad.. Hannah’s dad ran away and didn’t come back and that confused me.
All in all idk the book was super spicy, towards the end it got less spicy 🤷🏻♀️

I don't have any criticisms of the book, even though I'm a certified hater, but I loved the ENTIRE book. The book has a divine and well-crafted drama; they don't exaggerate or overact, so I loved that.
The spicy scenes are on another level. My God, Damien, what u do to me🤰🏻

Fake dating slay. Won’t lie, this is straight smut LMAO (what else would you expect with a cover like that) but the story line kinda ate🤭. It moves pretty quick so even though it gets a smidge confusing at times trying to keep up, it keeps you entertained. It does have bit of the classic enemies to lovers on top of the fake dating and there’s a 3rd act “break up” (if you wanna call it that), which I usually hate. They make up pretty quick and it do be kinda wholesome. The split was silly though because her reasoning is literally the last thing that would come into my mind but it might be bc its a dual pov and I get to read the inner-workings of his mind (and obviously she doesn’t bc telepathy isn’t a thing here). The book was good honestly. I love me a woman working her way up in power even if most of it is because she’s sleeping with, as the author made it seem, the most powerful man in the universe. 🤨 BUT IT DOESN’T COUNT BC THEY’RE IN LOVE. I had high hopes for the end because there was a fun little plot twist but I was highly disappointed during the epilogue because it always ends the same way….mf pregnancy. Like yeah I knew marriage was coming but EVERY FUCKING TIME WE HAVE TO END WITH A BUN IN THE OVEN?! Stop it. Give me something new fun and fresh. I’m. Bored. With. That. Ending. Gimme a couple that doesn’t want kids for once PLEASE. I need that drama. Anyway the author has a little bonus chapter thrown in there if you want to subscribe to her newsletter and get it sent to you…but I’ll tell you it has nothing to do with the plot. He’s just filthy rich, buys her a yacht named after her and then they fuck out in the open while they sail to Greece🤨😵💫. It’s giving modern day colonizers. Sorta. WOMP WOMP

I am OBSESSED!
The attention to detail in this book is immaculate and the spice is🔥🔥 . I love that there was a great plot intertwined with the spicy scenes. Damien and Hannah were the perfect characters. I couldn’t put it down!
What an amazing first book full of scenes that will be playing through my mind for months to come. I’m officially an Alexis Knightly fan!

They grow together, Damien overcoming his childhood trauma and learning that not everything in life should be work related, with Hannah he experiences new sides he never thought of.

I want to give it more stars
I really feel like this has been thought through thoroughly and the author did a good job in not only making it about the couple but including the business side of things as well, yet … the fmc wanted experience and to learn and she didn’t get to do that because of the private things that kept on happening between the main characters.
The beginning of the book was mentioned on how she wants to know more and educate herself and attend meetings but none of that happened because the focus was securing one investment that gave her the look of a trophy wife only, nothing more.
Plus it feels like the side characters that affected the fmc needed to be a lesson to others to not be rude etc.

I am shocked feeling unstable and happy. The book was a roller coaster of emotions and had me hooked I read it in a record time of 3 days. The end had me crying and dying just overwhelmed but overall happy really recomend.

I’ve had this book on my TBR for quite a while and decided to give it a go. Even though this wasn’t a complex literary work of art, I quite enjoyed it and had a hard time putting this book down! I’m normally not the biggest fan of the ‘fake dating / fake engagement’ trope, but didn’t mind it as much in this one as it was clear this was more than fake right from the start. We get quite a few scorching spicy scenes (bring a fan), a lot of tension and some sweet romance. This is a ‘sit back, relax and escape reality for a while’ book. I’ll be adding the next book in the series to my TBR!
Safety:
- OW: we get a catty girl that looks down on h because she isn’t from a rich family. She claims H is only with her temporarily and she’ll snatch him up when he leaves h. H is not interested at all and OW gets her due 😏
- OM: h dated H’s brother. We see him throughout the whole book. Causes some jealousy, but h is not interested at all anymore (OM was a big jerk).
- No cheating
- Short separation (3rd act break up due to misunderstanding). H fights for h in this time and both stay celibate.

This was ok. It’s a brother’s ex trope, billionaire, fake dating, etc.
I feel like the pacing wasn’t the best. They don’t get fake engaged until 70% and I felt like by then it should’ve been going on for a while and turning into real feelings. And it was to an extent, but I never felt a deep connection between them.
The end sort of threw me. It had some mob/secret society vibes and random things with her dad that sort of felt out of place.
There was also too much telling and not enough showing throughout - for example the hero has a lot of childhood trauma hinted at and then it says he told her everything off page! And then it’s never really discussed again. This happens a few more times and I felt like we missed on what could’ve been cathartic or angsty moments.
For the plus side, I found it to be an easy read!

Great, laugh out loud, spicy book
I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of this book and I'm so so happy I did.

This book had me laughing (the gift he buys her🤌), it has plenty of spice, no cheating and a HEA.
This is my first book I've read from Alexis Knightly and I cannot wait to read more especially book 2 with Lauren.

I loveee a fake dating trope so that had me hooked, and I liked the contrast between the characters! The smut was 🥵🥵 (except the word c*nt gives me the ick😂)
