After a not so happy Thanksgiving, Yandi Williams is forced to finally do something that makes her soul happy. Four years of ignoring herself and her heart’s desires, she’s looking for anything that isn’t Kendrick Saxon. But the issue with playing the game is that someone is always better.
Kendrick returns to his day to day activity, but nothing smells, tastes, or looks the same without Yandi in her rightful place. Determined to have her, he spares no expense or plan to make right, all that’s wrong in their worlds.
With Kendrick showing Yandi he’s the MVP of petty games, will the truth finally set them free?
Well Kendrick and Yandi left us all at the thanksgiving dinner table wondering if we’d ever get the answers to questions that tore them apart let alone if we’d ever see them again. Emotions were high during their last encounter and despite words exchanged in the heat of the moment I held out hope that we would get the conclusion we deserved.
This book was the perfect wrap up to their love story! The chemistry was jumping from the pages between these two and I anxiously awaited the moment when Yandi would finally reveal to Kendrick what prompted her departure to Greenwood and kept her away for 4 years.
With all of the flashback scenes that took us through the journey of what happened and the aftermath I’m surprised no one picked up on what happened with Yandi. All of the signs were there and if Kendrick was as in-tuned with her as it appears even if he didn’t know the specific cause I feel like he should’ve had some idea. I’m glad that monster JR got what he deserved.
There’s no debate that AP is an exceptional writer when she gives us completed stories (which is rare). I’m appreciative of her spinning the block with Kendrick and Yandi. This was a good 🍑 story and I’m glad to see they got the HEA they deserved.
This was 100% a 5 star read but the errors couldn’t be ignored! We didn’t know the MFCs name from one page to the next. She went from being Yandira to Yandria to Randi and even Yankee. Simple mistakes like this should not be overlooked by an editor. Better luck next time. 🤷🏽♀️
I can honestly say Yandria, Yandira, Randi, Yankee, or whatever name the author wanted the MFC to be was much more likeable in book two. At the end of Remember the Time, Kendrick had finally gotten fed up with Yandi and her refusal to communicate with him so, he dipped and went back to the LO. Now, while he was very much frustrated with Yandi, he was not done tryin’ to get his girl back. Kendrick and Madear devised a plan that would not only get Yandi back to Los Oceania but, get her to finally open up and tell him what happened with JR. I almost did a lil’ jig when that secret was finally revealed. I loved the conversation between Yandi and Madear about the generational curses in their family and how important it was for Yandi to make sure they ended with her. Madear said, “What we not gon’ do is roll these same traumas into the next generation of Williams women.” And, can somebody tell Kimberly to bring her triflin’ azz outside cause, we definitely jumpin’ that heaux. The phrase, “As long as you have family, you don’t need enemies” was coined just for that heffa. 😒😒😒😒 When You Fell In Love was the perfect way to wrap up this couple’s love story. I absolutely love how Kendrick never gave up Yandi and did what needed to be done to get his Candy Yan back to him. I could’ve easily given this book four stars but, once again, the errors wouldn’t let it be great.
I'm so glad we got an update for this couple because I was sick about the way things ended in the Thanksgiving novelette. Kendrick pulled out all the stops and then some to get his woman home. It had been 4 years and he was tired of living without her. After an explosive night of trapping ....apparently, he knew Yandi's heart, mind, and body still belonged to him. I honestly could have read 100 more pages about their life together, but I appreciated the sweet ending and epilogue.
Everything was resolved and secrets were revealed that I didn't expect. Kimberly was premium trash and she deserved a worse beat down. JR was a disgusting, greedy, jealous piece of shii on the bottom of my shoe and he earned his fate. Madear shined as only she could.
I enjoyed this story, but the editing could have been tighter. I have a pet peeve about misspelled or incorrect mc names. There was at least two times where the fmc was called names that were not close to hers. Overall, good read.
AP! I have to say I love your forwards. ❤️ You always get us together, as well as give some good laughs. I was so ready for this read, as the last one left me heartbroken for both Yandi and Kendrick while yearning for more. You ain’t never lied about the beginning being heavy. Those flashbacks shook me to the point of tears, and I wondered how Yandi found the strength to go on.
Kendrick was down bad. Still racking his brain trying to figure out where he went wrong with his woman. She is his light, his rib, his world, and nothing is well without her! Well, that ends now! Time to put a plan in place, cause she is coming home. Let operation pressure begin!
Lawd, that conversation between Madear and Yandi over tea!! The generational curses those women have had to endure, and the trauma that has been passed down….I just can’t ya’ll whew! 😢 But Madear said that ish ends here, right now with you Candy Yan! You will be alright and change the course of the lives of our family going forward.
When Yandi gets back to the LO I wondered how she would react to being there, as well as how Kendrick would get her to open up. He didn’t give a damn about what happened, he just wanted his woman and his life back. If he had to beg her and crawl on his knees, he would do just that. Yandi would not make it easy for him, as she is still afraid of how the truth will impact Kendrick’s life and career. However, being in his presence is breaking her down, as her love for his is so strong. She wants her man back desperately, but how can she tell him?
That damn JR is scum, a fboy monster, that has allowed his greed, jealousy, and need for power to overrule his common sense! How was no one able to see he was a snake? Ughhh…… 🤬
A simple dinner brought all the ish to light, and hell breaks loose! Kendrick took charge and handled business, just like I knew he would! 💪🏾 It was the soft conversations, care and love Kendrick displayed as he repeatedly told Yandi how sorry he was that he failed her, that broke me! I was no good after that! 😢
Kimberly!! That heifer was an evil bih, and I have a feeling her cousins gave her the good ass whoopin' she deserved!!🤬 However, I would have loved to witness it on page. 😂
Sunshine does come shining through after the storm, as Yandi and Kendrick’s love is rekindled, and their future looks bright. AP you always write damn good stories, but this one ma’am was one of your best ones yet! Bravo!! 👏🏾👏🏾
This was so cute. Kendrick is that man! He definitely knows what it means to protect and provide. And he pays attention to the details. Thank God for healing and 2nd chances.
This was such a beautifully crafted story. Yes, it was heavy. Yes, it was traumatic. But the way she captured EVERY part of this journey was amazing.
You ever read a book and halfway through, you knew. That book was going to be the one. That book was going to be your favorite book of the year. This was that for me. Not even halfway through, this book shook me.
Please be sure to check trigger warnings because this opens up heavy. But as a reader, a person in love with words and stories, full stories? I appreciated the heaviness of the beginning and throughout the book. Aubree was so delicate in writing Yandi & Kenny’s story. It was done with such depth and poise. We got to see Yandi’s healing in a way where we got glimpse of her past and current life after her trauma and to see that really did it for me.
To see Kendrix fighting to just be let in, to know how to fix things?! 😮💨🥹 that man did not care what happened, he just wanted to make sure him and his lady was okay. He wanted his baby home! I’m wit ya when you’re right Kenny. Do whatever it takes to get your lady home boy! His dad?! Kendrix had BDE for sure but we know he got that from Senior. BIG STEPPAA!!! That man showed you how to lead a family okay!! And it trickled down to Kenny. He saw where he had to grow in his lonesome so he can lead his rib.
Their families making sure Yandi is pushed back where she belongs?! Chileeeee
Now…JR. I needed a lil more detail on his “accident” I needed to feel that just like I felt Yandi 🫢 Cousin Faith…? Girl. No words.
Aubree, you deserve your flowers ma’am. You really created a beautiful story without sugarcoating the hardships, especially the harder ones most can’t talk about and did it with grace. I loved this. 🤎🙌🏾
After Remember the time ended it left us with a lot of questions. Will these two make it? Will she tell Kenny what happened? Why won’t she just tell him what JR did to her? There was so many questions running through my mind.
Kenny is a good man! When he found out his best friend violated his woman there was no stopping him from her hurting him almost killing him!
He did everything in his power to get his woman back ! When I tell you I love me some Kenny I love me some Kenny!! I loved how his family still consider her their family even after the four year gap. I hope his sister finds her some love one day she deserves it! I recommend everyone read this two book series 💕
When I say this lady doesn’t miss, we don't call her Big Pynn for nothing! The way my heart broke and was put back together so beautifully, only true talent can write a story as full and fulfilling as this. Here are your 💐 now Aubree 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 you deserve.
Okay on to my review. We left off in Remember The Time with Kenny and Yandi at olds again right when we thought he was going to get his girl back, shit hit the fan and we were left with a cliffhanger. We start When We Fell In Love with so many questions, we wanted to know if Yandi was ever going to tell the truth about why she left. I needed to know why Kenny did not come after his wife for four years. So much. And I will say all of our questions did get answered.
The love, chemistry, and family between Kenny and Yandi radiated from the pages, Kendrick wasn't for the games anymore and he meant what he said about bringing his wife home. That man said even if I have to trap her ass, then ole well 🤷🏾, but she was bringing her ass home 😆.
The flashback scenes helped tell a fuller story, but man were they hard to read. JR was just, I don’t even know if I have the words to describe how disgusting of a human being he was, and I still feel like he got off light! Speaking of getting off light, cousin Faith aka Kimberly needed more than that ass-beating, baby had crossed one too many lines and I was begging for AP to tap me in so I could get at her ass, she had me 🤬🤬.
My heart broke for Yandi again at that dinner but the way that Senior loved and held on to Yandi broke me down! Ugh🥹🥹
The way these two prayed over each other was also one of my favorite parts of this story. And Kendrick wasn’t playing about Yandi praying over his body “God please bless this man’s elbows, back, and knees,” 🤣🤣
If you’re looking for a short, but fulfilling story about forgiveness, overcoming obstacles, unconditional, love, a tight, knitted family, and just overall a good time then look no further.
A few of my Favorite Quotes:
“I know you. I know your body. Took personal classes in it for years. I know how you sound, how you feel, how you taste, how soft you are during ovulation. How wet you are when your body needs me. I missed it before how slippery you were that small window in time when you carried. This time – I needed to make sure you came home.”- Kendrick
“We all hide what we’re ashamed of not knowing that the tribe around us is equipped to hold it – to hold us. I am equipped to hold you. - Madear
Book: When We Fell In Love Author: Aubree Pynn Genre: Romance Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
A Riveting Tale of Love, Redemption, and Petty Games: Unveiling the Truth in 'Playing for Redemption
This book was a lot to unpack. This book was so heavy and raw with emotions. It has strong character development and emotional depth. It is a testament of bravery and it explores themes of love, loss and resilience in the face the of adversity. Everything about this story was riveting. The themes of empowerment and resilience were incredibly inspiring and motivating in this book. It provided a sense of hope, and encouragement, even in the face of difficult circumstances. Kendrick and Yandria are such beautiful character and their character arc was the highlight of the story. To see them mend what was broken was so beautiful. They deserved every good thing they received after undergoing so much trauma. JR was the epitome of a snake I was so happy when Yan finally spoke and he got his behind dragged up and down that restaurant. He deserved that and far worse than the faith he received. And Kimberly she was just out right cruel and jealous because how do you do that to your sister how can one be so evil. However while this story had lows it also had many highs and characters like Madear offered comedic relief to help release tension for readers. Overall this story was well written and the energetic atmosphere was intangible but very apparent. Aubree you never cease to amaze me. This book is gold.
I really enjoyed this book and was glad that Kendrick and Yandi finally got there happily ever after. These two were made for each other and I loved how they loved on each other. Kendrick played no games about his Candy Yan. Madear and the cousins gave me some laughs and helped ease some of the seriousness that this couple needed to heal from. This was an excellent read that I would highly recommend.
What a tear jerker. Yandi’s pain was intense and all consuming. Kendrick’s hurt was felt. Their love though, whew swoon worthy. This was a journey of restoration. Yandi needed the space to share her trauma with Kendrick to be set free. Once the truth was out their love was able to blossom. I admired Kendrick’s persistence because most would’ve given up. He stood firm and was determined to win his woman, even if she was insistent on blocking him. Thank goodness for meddling family giving her the push she needed.
If ‘Spin About You’ was a person it would be Kendrick with Jolene, Shakira, and Neicy as close seconds. JR was the scum of the earth and so was Kimberly. I wouldn’t wish that level of hate and jealously on my worst enemy. JR and Kim got what was coming to them though.
4.75/5 - Found the extended version of the Thanksgiving novella and I ate this up! I know some readers complained about Yandi’s lack of communication in the novella but this book delved into why she was that way and it was sad and messy!! JR and Kimberly will never see heaven!
Kendrick may be my new book boyfriend! He wasn’t giving up until he had Yandi back and I wasn’t mad at how he went about it. He made sure that he listened to her wants and applied the notes accordingly.
I do wish Yandi would’ve explored some type of therapy as she experienced some major trauma. I know it was said briefly, but I would’ve liked to have seen her talk through it during a session vs relying heavily on religion.
Aubree Pynn...this book had my heart from the very beginning. I couldn't wait for you to give us Kendrick and Yandria's story in it's entirety. I cried, laughed, cried and laughed some more. While the story was heavy - it needed to be told for healing purposes. Kendrick was definitely a fool in love and willing to do ANYTHING to get his woman. Yandria, my heart ached for her knowing what happened and how she had to reconcile all of that and that's something that definitely takes time. These two families were meant to combine, but Kimberley can gsth! Such a good book.
**Please, please read the trigger warning before reading.**
Kendrick said he was going to get his Candy back one way or another. I love how the entire family helped set his plan into action. Madear is a hoot.. Yandi held on to a traumatic and painful secret for so long. Grimey ass JR got karma swiftly served. Forgiveness and unbering hidden secrets were the essential building blocks for their reconnection. Just when we think all secrets have been exposed, Kimberly dropped another bomb. Ass whippings were plentiful in this here novel. Second chances lead to second blessings. I would love another follow-up from these two.
Yandi has a new job and returned to Kendrick, unbeknownst to her. Kendrick has finally put everything in place to get Yandi back. When Yandi finally gives in to what Kendrick wants, the love between them is shown. Yandi fights her past but knows her future will be brighter. The introduction of Kendricks' family is something I never knew I needed. When all the past secrets are revealed, it changes people lives forever. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, couldn't get enough, and would catch myself rereading it at times. Big Pynn dug deep in her back for this story, and I'm glad she did!!!
This was such a fun read! I really loved how the story came together in the end. The whole trapping Yandy situation got on my nerves a bit (Yandy, girl, why?!), but I had to remind myself—it’s just a story! Lol.
I’m so glad Yandy finally spilled the secret. It was about time! 🙌 And Kendrick? Whew, that man was determined to get his woman back. I’ve been rooting for them since Book 1, and I couldn’t be happier to see them come together—with some extra bundles of love, no less. 🥰
Kendrick loved her down BAD, okay? She wasn’t going anywhere—you hear me? 🔥
If you’re a fan of messy, dramatic, but oh-so-rewarding love stories, this one is a must-read! 💕
Candy Yan + Kenny. I mean in my eyes Big Pynn can do no wrong and if you don't agree that's you. She doesn't miss and this book is proof of that. This story was a beautiful act of redemption. Yandi stayed true to herself. Kenny was determined to get his woman back and that he did. He proved how much he still had her even after their four-year departure. They received double for their trouble in the end and that had me at the end. This book is definitely on the list of my Pynn favorites. 10/10 for me. You do have to read Remember the Time before reading this novel.
What a way to make up for Do You Remember👏👏👏. This book had everything! It was soft and sweet, sexy💦🔥and full of love, forgiveness and healing. Jr. 😡got what he deserved. His treachery was not enough to keep Kenny and Yandi apart. They truly belonged together. Madear stole the show. Kimberly was trash and everybody needs cousins like Neicy, Shakira and Jolene ( sis in law Sondi was with the smoke about Yandi too😘😂). I loved all the family in the book. Great job, definitely. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you for providing the context after the “Remember The Time” abrupt ending of Yandria & Kendrick story. Now “When You Fell In Love (Kendrick & Yandi - Book 2)” their story (and the families too) makes much more sense. Thereafter, I commend Kendrick Jr, because he is/was the epitome of sacrificial, commitment, dedication, loyalty & protection for his first & only love (since they met in college) his candy 🍭 girl…He’s satisfied by the Yandi effect 😍🤭🤷🏾♀️‼️
I am glad to read more about Kendrick and Yandria. OMG...you have to be careful who is in your circle. Best friend and kinfolk turned out to be the worse. Yet love had the final say. The character development and the supporting cast made for a rich story even when parts of it were traumatic and heartbreaking. The author owes me nothing...okay maybe another ssa whooping of Kimberly. LOL. Well done.
2024 has already come in swinging with When you Fell in Love. This continues the return to love story of Yandi and Kendrick!! This book will make you cry because the emotions are heavy. Aubree always comes through with each book. Aubree has the ability to grab you from the beginning and not let go until the last page. If she isn’t one of your favorite authors, she should be!
What's done in the dark will always come to the light. If it's meant to be... Patience young grasshopper because it will come back. Kendrick was persistent and totally in love with Yandi... That man would move mountains for his woman. I am so happy the truth surfaced to allow healing as a whole. I loved Madear❤️ Healing is so important and we can't linger in our hurt or it will cause us to miss our blessings. Beautiful continuum Aubree Pynn 🥰
What needed to happen and though it took them 4 years and uncertainty they ended up together. B**** a** n****** who needed to die check hos that need a day ask what check and futures that look bright as ever check. This book definitely had my heart Aching for my girl and you and everything she had been through and held close to her chest. But Kendrick did not play about his candy and he met her where he needed to got the job done Hella BDE energy all the way
Baby the world had to stop after you ruined Thanksgiving! You had me clapping and yelling when Kendrick had to stand on business at the restaurant! This story of forgiveness and healing was truly beautiful 😍 without giving too much away please read this story and get ready for all the feels!
This story was so good. I laughed so hard I cried and then cried foreal. Kimberly want them paws and I'm glad that her wish was granted. Yan and Kenny were made for each other. That man LOVED her down and allowed her to shine in her own right. The book is a follow up to Remember the time (you must read in order). P.S. This cover is everything
