Yoga practice as key for aging beautifully

While advanced age is revered by some, very few of us are in a hurry to get there. This guide treats physical well-being and spiritual growth as two sides of a coin. It is custom-crafted for midlife and later by addressing both eternal verities and physical health. Yoga, the time-honored philosophy of which headstands and downward-facing dogs are only a fragment, doesn’t physical life will end and material joys, as lovely as they can be, are temporary. In acknowledging our true nature, the eternal divinity that is our essence, we have the best shot at well-being on every level.

This book explores spiritual awakening yoga-style, and the fundamentals of yoga’s sister science, ayurveda, for care of the body. No one is too young to take up these practices, and no one is too old either. Asana practice, the “physical exercise” component of the spiritual adventure of yoga, is fully adaptable to anybody of any age. And the mental and spiritual practices of yoga need no adaptations.

Age Like a Yogi not only gives the reader immediately applicable tools for spiritual awareness and physical health in the post-fifty decades, but also a way to leave this world kinder, safer, saner, and a little more beautiful.

Just what I needed for my passion for 2025. I have the kindle version but added the audible version as well. So much to take in! I am very interested in following this path. It is a bit overwhelming being new to it, but I know I can start with baby steps. I am passionate about being healthier this year and letting go of what doesn't serve me. This is so positive and uplifting. I am eager to begin.

If author and podcaster Victoria Moran advised me to “Age Like a Neanderthal,” I’d strongly consider it.

As anyone who has met Victoria can attest, she radiates health, youthfulness and positivity. I’m not going to tell you her age, but if I were to make you guess, you would in all likelihood peg her to be about 15 years younger than she actually is.

To put it succinctly, whatever she is doing is working for her, and will probably work for you and me, too.

So if Victoria had written a book titled “Age Like a Neanderthal,” I would have read it with an open mind. Well, maybe not with a completely open mind, because if she had aged like a Neanderthal, she would have died in her mid-30s.

Fortunately, for Victoria and us, her new book is called “Age Like a Yogi,” something we can fully embrace.

You’ll come away with an understanding and appreciation that yoga is much more than sun salutations, downward dogs, and Lululemon pants.

Victoria introduces us to the broad scope of a yogic lifestyle, including its spiritual and ethical dimensions. And she connects yoga to its “sister science,” ayurveda.

No matter your age, you’re older today than you were yesterday. For all of us, this book is worth reading, and even more so if you’re in your mid-30s or beyond.

A journey to graceful and empowered aging: How Age Like a Yogi transformed my perspective

Age Like a Yogi resonated deeply with me, offering a refreshing perspective on aging physically and spiritually through the lens of yoga, ahimsa, and Ayurvedic wisdom. The book beautifully integrates ancient rituals and practices that nurture both body and soul, making the aging process feel like a sacred journey to me. The practical tips on yoga, mindfulness, and Ayurveda provided a holistic approach to maintaining physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance. I found the emphasis on living with intention, compassion, and daily rituals incredibly grounding. This book is a gentle yet powerful reminder that aging gracefully involves nurturing not just the body, but also the mind and spirit. It left me feeling more connected, empowered, and ready to embrace the future with grace and purpose in a very different way than I ever have. Highly recommend!

I picked this book up for my book club to read and I hope you pick it up too.

This is a wonderful book with reminders of our eternal nature and soul. They come from yoga, and Ayurvedic teachings as the title suggests. There are exercises at the end of chapters.

Young people nowadays tend to be concerned with looks. They get all the serums, apply sunscreen, and do everything to perserve their age. This book asserts that the age has more to do with our connection to the soul rather than the appearence of our physical bodies. It is full of material and suggestions that are more useful than what is being marketted on most places online. This is a great starting point for someone to view health holistically— to live from the heart and kindness.

The writing itself is soulful, energetic, inspired and heart-centered!

I haven't delved into Ayurveda much so a lot of it was new to me and I had a great time. I liked the simple meditation instruction in the book. Not sure I can use the knowledge about what type of body I have yet. I only learned that there are eastern horoscopes lately. I think I heard about the yoga types before, but I haven't looked into them that much then. There is so much to discover for all eternity and there is a lot more still to apply!

I loved this audiobook read by Victoria. She has a great voice for the narration. I loved all the information she shared and suggestions she gave. As a senior myself, and only a vegan for a little over five years--I'm a fan! I plan on buying the hard copy too because she shares so many resources. I rarely listen to an audiobook more than once, but I think this one I will. Read or listen to it!!!!!
