A scorching tale of a young college graduate who becomes entangled in the dangerous world of the mafia after a wild and reckless night at a party. Despite her initial reservations, she falls into a passionate affair with the charming yet ruthless mafia boss.
This book was amazing! The spice added to the story was fantastic, and the fast-paced drama had me on the edge of my seat. I appreciated how the main character remained loyal to her promise to her son throughout the entire book. And that ending...so satisfying! It's refreshing to read a story with closure and no lingering questions. This author has a true talent, and I will definitely be picking up more of their works in the future.

A wonderfully written short story with amazing characters which is a page turner. A steamy spicy romance that has a happy ever after but also has a tearful ending that’s easy to read.
A story about a college graduate and a mafia boss falling for one another. The college graduate is the best friend of the mafia boss’s daughter. The mafia boss lost his wife when his enemy’s shot and killed her, the mother of the mafia boss’s daughter.
The two graduates were having a party at the mafia boss’s estate, classmates and friends were there. The mafia boss’s daughter’s boyfriend was there and they snuck off but soon the college graduate found them. During the party the mafia boss flirted with the college graduate and after the party was over the two had sex. The next day the college graduate went to go say her goodbyes to the mafia boss’s daughter who was going to the UK for an internship.
Weeks later the college graduate wasn’t feeling well so she went to a family friend who was a doctor. After testing the college graduate found out she was pregnant. The college graduate calls her mother telling her about being pregnant, her mother has her come to Japan where she was born. The mother has her put the baby, a son up for adoption to people that the mother knows.
The mafia boss finds out after the college graduate leaves that she was pregnant, he finds the doctor and forces out of her about the pregnancy. The mafia boss searched for the college graduate.
Three years later without her mother’s permission the college graduate went back to New York, the city that she graduated in and that the mafia boss is in. The college graduate goes out to eat with an old friend. While out she is grabbed by a couple of guys, when she screams they smack her around before duct taping her mouth and potting a cloth over her face.
The college graduate is in a guest room at the mafia boss’s estate, she’s fist tied and is in a chair until she won’t answer the mafia boss’s questions about their son after that he had his men take her from the chair and put her on the bed chained by a collar. The mafia boss does give her much water for a while and no food. The mafia boss slaps her around a bit. The mafia boss has sex with her once. The college graduate is at the estate for a long while during this time the mafia man tries to get her to tell him about their son.
The mafia boss has the college graduate come to the garden for a picnic and during this time she tells him that she loves him. That night they went out to eat at a restaurant. After a guy on a motorcycle shots at them, the mafia boss puts himself in front of the college graduate. The mafia boss was grazed by a bullet. They get back to the estate where the college graduate cleans the graze and bandages it and afterwards they have sex.
The next morning the mafia boss tells the college graduate that she can go, that he doesn’t want to see her hurt because of him and that he understands now why she won’t tell him where their son is at. The college graduate won’t go because she knows where she is supposed to be with him, by his side. They tell one another that they love each other. The mafia boss asks the college graduate to marry him and she tells him that she will.
They get everything ready for the wedding. The college graduate calls her mother to get her blessing but her mother won’t give it to her. The college graduate calls the mafia boss’s daughter, who is her friend and once the friend figures out that it’s not a joke, she is furious at her friend screaming at her.
The two get married and have a reception. They go on their honeymoon which the mafia boss keeps secret until they are close to their destination which is the island that he owns. They get to the island and he has new clothes for her and informs her that whatever she wants that she just needs to ask for. They go swimming in the ocean, soon he’s taking off her bikini and they’re having sex.
Years later the mafia boss is old and his wife passed away years before. The mafia boss is still looking for his son but without any luck. The mafia boss is growing tired. He misses his wife and he knows he will join her soon but he’s hoping to find his son before his time is up. He hopes his wife will be there with her arms wide open waiting for him.

Mafia Boss gets outmaneuvered
Massimo is a tough, in-control ruler of his New York crime family. His daughter Laura’s best friend Nora has caught Massimo’s eye and they share one night of frantic bliss after celebrating Laura’s and Nora’s college graduation. Soon Nora discovers she’s pregnant and she disappears because mob violence terrifies her for their child. Nora gives her son up for his protection. When Massimo finds out about a child, his child, he goes ballistic but Nora and the child can’t be found. A couple of years later, the idiot Nora returns to New York where she is shocked when she is brutally kidnapped and tortured. Massimo wants his child, a son, but Nora will not reveal where he is. Here is where I got whiplash from Massimo’s mood swings. One minute he’s torturing Nora, the next he’s kissing her.
Massimo rules with an iron fist, regardless; Nora falls in love with him. What saved this story for me is their love and commitment to each other to the end of their lives. Cold Corruption is the prequel to the Kings of Corruption series and I think we will be introduced to Nora and Massimo’s long-lost son. I also hope Massimo gets to meet his son before he dies. Nora (h) catches the attention of mafia boss Massimo (H) at a party celebrating the end of his daughter/ her best friend’s college years. The two share a secret night together, but Nora realizes weeks later she’s pregnant with Massimo’s child. Worried that Massimo’s lifestyle would put their child in danger, Nora goes into hiding to secretly give birth to their son and put him up for adoption. Massimo eventually becomes aware she was pregnant with his child and bides his time until she returns to New York so that he can force her into telling him where his child is. He doesn’t count on Nora’s steely determination to keep their child safe, even in the face of kidnapping, imprisonment, and mistreatment. Massimo’s treatment of Nora is brutal, but he eventually realizes he’s in over his head emotionally with Nora. Hot and steamy mafia romance with vengeful treatment of the FMC by the MMC leading to their HEA. Final chapter is somewhat bittersweet. Great start to the "Kings of Corruption" series.

Its not long before she learns that she is pregnant, and she doesn't want her child to be in the life Massimo is in. So, she leaves the country and has the baby in secret. Massimo has never forgotten her and has been searching for her. However, everything changes when he learns that she had his child. What will he do once he sees she won't reveal what happened to their child? Can they be together?
This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

This was an interesting and compelling read. This was an arc given in exchange for my honest opinion. I read this book in one sitting. This not the normal one mafia clan has something against another mafia clan. There is however, someone who doesn’t want to see Massimo happy, but there is no retaliation at all on the book. It’s just a love story. What happens to Massimo is sad, and author only tell the story from a broken heart perspective and she misses the opportunity to use the rival coming after his family, but she doesn’t tell the story of how he avenges this treachery. That’s why I couldn’t give it 5 stars. But it’s a good love story so from that standpoint, I recommend this book. But not a good mob story.

Depressing and cruel!
From beginning to end, both mcs are just secretive and manipulative. What makes it worse, there is no resolution and after the FMC finally makes peace with fact that she is in love with this much older sociopathic MC, after he beats and rapes her, WHY ON EARTH DOES SHE KEEP THEIR SON FROM HIM..??? Oh and then it ends depressiingly; she dies before him, granting him no more babies and at an old age, he sadly dies, never having known the son they conceived. And you also never find out whether or not her best friend forgives her and her own mother disowns her. Awful to the 10th degree! I I'm writing down the name of this author , so that I know never to read anything by her again. I don't mind the dark romance but this was just awful.

So much wrong with this one. Is Nora an idiot? Is Massimo an idiot? Better yet, is Massimo a rapist POS? Yes. Yes he is. I know for most of these mafia lite tropes there is a healthy dose of “suspension of belief” but this was too much.
She could have literally just told him she had an abortion or a miscarriage. How would he know? How can he be a mafia don with resources for all sorts of stuff and not be able to figure out that Nora flew to Japan? Why would Nora be ok with being kidnapped, punched, starved, slapped and chained and just “fall in love” with the guy responsible for all of that?

I understand this is a prequel/novella. This is also a new author for me.
For me this was a different read for me. The scenes seemed rushed. Some of the scenes jumped around.
The epilogue jumps what feels like decades.
This had a mafia version/retelling of beauty and the beast?
The scenes had some spice! Great alpha vibes! Loved the characters and storyline!
I’m off to grab the next book in the series- Heir of Corruption because I need to know what happens next!

Laura and Nora have been best friends since kindergarten and now just finishing college. Laura is going to the UK for an internship and Nora is still deciding what she wants to do. Massimo, Laura's dad has a fun filled night with Nora and she ends up pregnant. Massimo finds out is enraged. He wants to do everything in his power to find his child. Once he has Nora chained up she still wont tell him where their son is. Their life is good, until Massimo is alone again.

This thrilling drama had me all caught up in this story. Nora is taken with her best friend's father, and it leads them to a one-night affair. When she learns that she is carrying his child she flees the country, but he learns about the repercussions of their affair. Will it lead him back to Nora and will they get their chance to find happiness with each other without losing her best friend.

He is her dad best friend and off limits but he wants her, ever if it is just for one night. It was a great night but she soon finds out she is having his baby. She runs from he as he is a mafia boss and has powerful enemies. He soon finds out and he wants to reclaim what is his. She may make him choose between her and the baby. What will he do? Will he demand both? Who would he give up? See just what is going to happen for them all

Definitely a tense read
Interesting plot for a mafia read. No real mafia wars or fights going on. The male lead is just a cruel, abusive mafia boss towards the female lead for most of the book. What I like about the female lead is she does stand strong in her one goal throughout the whole book.
The story definitely has ups and downs. It has points that make you mad then some that make you sad. The author really did a good job writing this one.

Novella, More Like It
This is a little over 100 pages. That's why I call it a novella. The storyline and plot show a lot of promise. The writing is a little too formulaic for my taste, but the story is a quick read and enjoyable. The story needs more passion, inner voices, and some depth. I find the ending quite disappointing, but maybe this is a lead up to a more complete stories for other characters.

A compelling page turner. Won't detail the story which has been outlined in the blurb & prior reviews. I do enjoy age gap romances & this did not disappoint. This is the 4th book I've read by this fairly new to me author & I look forwardd to reading more of her work in the near future. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

Sylvia has really and I mean really wrote an extraordinary and suspenseful romance book. She spun together Massimo and Nora's characters perfectly that they are BRILLIANT and full of ROMANTIC SUSPENSE. This book is going to get your HEART a PUMPING that you feel like you are running in a Marathon and winning.

What an awesome book. I loved Massimo and Nora’s love for each other.
The fact that she kept her sign a secret from him was awesome considering what he put her through.

unconditional love
I really like this book even though it was very predictable although I thought the ending would be different. It was almost refreshing to have an unexpected ending that you almost never see in books. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I loved a good mafia romance and I love a good mafia romance novella. For me, this wasn’t it. This was Stockholm Syndrome with spice and violence. Check the warnings as it does involve domestic violence and gang violence.

Was hoping for more
Some of the tropes included made this book seem interesting: Mafia, secret baby
Barely saw parts of him related to the Mafia.
There were really no redeemable qualities to Massimo that made you like him.
Kept switching between present and past tense.

A good start to a series
This is a prequel to a series. It left a bunch of unanswered questions that I am guessing that the series will answer. It intrigued me enough that I went ahead and purchased the three book series. I enjoyed this book on both audible and kindle.

Goodness! I have no words. Massimo and Nora embarked on a fast paced, intense, and gritty journey. I enjoyed going on this dark and raw ride with them.
