Rate this book

This was a really interesting start to a new graphic novel series. Two twins find each other and have to learn to use their magic together to fight against some scary people who are trying to eliminate them. There are secrets, lies and lots of other things to uncover and I’m sure the next books will only get more interesting. I’ll definitely be giving them a try when they come out.

Also, massive bonus points for the teleportation tortoise! Absolutely loved that lil guy!

[Hardcover]

A likeable book, both in illustrations, story and characters. My main issue with it was the amount of world building that drowned out any chance of connecting with the characters and caring about their struggles and wants. Just the balance between background and cast was a bit off, which I can imagine happens when you have a limited amount of space to make your story's case. And that is a repeating issue with the format of these first volumes and their page count.

No doubt Dahlstrøm has plans for both world and characters, but those are too big for one volume. It might be better balanced in the continuation of the series, where the urgency isn't as high.

Denne var a breath of fresh air! Alt fra karakter-design til fargevalg er fantastisk. Språket flyter. Panelene gir mening. Historien er interessant. Verdenen er godt gjennomtenkt.

Lowkey elsket skurkene.
