My Little Pet Dragon is a unique children's read full of fantastical fun!
I really liked the cover page with the CD art of the dragon on a skateboard. To me, that really stood out compared to other children's books I've seen around recently. The entire book is continues to pack each page full of the awesome 3D art that's on the cover.
Each page has just a few words on it and a 3D picture that matches the plot that's carrying on.
I'd say the general age group for this book would be between 2 to 9 years old. The story is rather simplistic, but is extremely cute.
At the end of my copy, which was an eBook I found via BookBub, it has a story about how Scott got into writing. While I thought it was a touching story to include, I felt that it didn't need to be in a children's novel that a child might read themselves on a parent's tablet or phone. As an adult I loved reading it, but it felt out of place (in my humble opinion). It is a motivational and inspirational set of words though!
The version I was reading also included lots of sneak peaks at his other books! While it does a great job advertising these books, it didn't feel right sitting in a book that a child could be reading. You're introducing them to a couple chapters and then they can't necessarily finish it. As someone who has studied marketing, I understand the need to market and advertise your books, but it just didn't mesh well with the way this book was set up. Maybe put sneak peaks as links at the end or on your website? Not in the book that ends up taking WAY more pages than the story itself.
The final bit (I promise!)... It asks to support the author on Patreon. Again, I totally understand the need to support artists and writers, but it felt out of place.
Overall, this book was really cute and I'd love to read more by Scott Gordon! I think he has lots of potential and he appears to have quite the catelogue!!
I don’t usually read or review children’s book as I have no children, but I saw this picture book the other day and the following statement really stuck out to me:
“As an added bonus, 100% of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the family of Alyssa Mowery. Last October, Alyssa was struck by a car while crossing the street with her friend Mia Decker (deceased) and sister Rain (minor injuries). Although Alyssa has awakened from her coma and said her first word since the accident, she has a long way to go.
With your contribution and support, you can make a difference in this young girl's life.”
You know, I don’t see authors giving away all their proceeds to help someone else all that often. The last author I saw to do something like this is Joshua Grover-David Patterson (and he’s still doing it), and so I think it’s a very rare author indeed who writes in order to financially help another. Therefore, even though I don’t have children, I bought this book, and I read it too, because it’s very short. And I think it’s worth the buy, even if you don’t have kids, because it’s going to help a child in need. If you do have kids, well then, it’s an added bonus. Gordon has cute pictures of the baby dragon and all the things he does for his owner, like helping him brush his teeth and the like, so I think it’s good for really young children.
Support Alyssa through buying this inexpensive picture book.
This is a very simple very cute book about a child getting a dragon for Christmas. the two or three words per page along with a simply but beautifully drawn dragon on each page makes it a sweet book for a young reader-listener.
This wasn't the best. I appreciate the pictures (which were pretty good), but the story was kind of lame, and uninteresting, and it was maybe 15 pages... So much more could have been done with these pictures.
Can I please have this little dragon? Pretty please?
I instantly fell in love with the illustrations of this book. That’s actually the sole reason I purchased the book–because of how adorable this little dragon is.
The story is definitely for a very young audience (under 5) but it’s cute and entertaining. It’s simple, easy to read, and overall adorable. It gives kids an example of being helpful, remembering to brush their teeth, and is sure to cause a few giggles.
Overall, I really like My Little Pet Dragon and give it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it as a great Christmas present.
My Little Pet Dragon is a cute, funny, picture eBook that is sure to delight your little ones. Told from the child's POV, it tells the story of the pet dragon they received last Christmas. The child tells you all the stuff the dragon likes to do and each page shows colorful pictures of the dragon performing these various tasks. There is a silly twist at the end when the child receives this years Christmas present and it is sure to make your child giggle. The images are beautiful, the story whimsical and silly. The story is simple enough, that after a few reads, your child should be able to tell you the story. My children are in college, but as toddlers they would have loved this book.
My Little Pet Dragon is available only on Kindle. I reviewed this on my pc, and the images were crisp and clear. If you do not own a kindle, you can download the kindle app to your phone, personal computer, tablet and iPod. Treat your little one's to a fantastic picture book and help out a good cause. 100% of all proceeds go to helping Alyssa and her family.
My Little Pet Dragon is a simple book for children written by Scott Gordon and illustrated by Julien Tromeur and Dimitar Marinov. This cute children's ebook is about getting a dragon for Christmas, and just what a dragon might be useful for and what the dragon likes. there is a cute twist at the end, adding to the whimsical charm of the tale.
My Little Pet Dragon is a cute little book. The illustrations are well done, and pair perfectly with the actions the brief words describe. There are only three words per page, along with a charming dragon, which makes the book great for new readers to explore on their own, or for sharing with even the youngest book lovers.
I would recommend My Little Pet Dragon to anyone looking to add to their digital reading collection for children. the story and illustrations are charming, and the purchase has a feel good bonus. All of the proceeds to to a charity helping the family of a young girl pay for medical bills following a severe car accident. It is available in English, a bilingual edition (Spanish and English), Spanish, and French.
My Little Pet Dragon by Scott Gordon is a cute e-book. The story line is simple and told from the point of view of a little boy who got a pet dragon for Christmas last year. The story is told with short simple phrases and words accompanied by a single pictures of his pet dragon “Ness” on each page. The book emphasizes brushing the young boys teeth a few times which is a nice addition for an young reader, but the best part of the book is the illustrations. The Illustrations are done by Julien Tromeur and Dimitar Marinov. The pictures are done with such detail and great artistry. The dragon is fixed on a plain white background which I believe allows the images of “Ness” to pop! I cannot say enough about the beautiful illustrations; even on the Kindle they are detailed and beautiful. Yes, a pet dragon can be beautiful! The ending is a little strange, but overall the illustrations are enough to make the book above average. I recommend this book for children 3-6 years of age.
A child receives a pet dragon for Christmas in this picture book written for the author’s son, who has autism.
The book had outstanding graphics with short sentences on each page, telling a charming story . A good book for those just learning to read. It is a cute picture book and I think the fact that author, Scott Gordon, is planning to make the dragon, Ness, into a series of books.
My only 2 nitpicks is : One, I that I wanted more description and more story with the graphics being so cool. Two, there is a similar picture book called Me And My Dragon by David Biedrzycik that I love as well, but My Little Pet Dragon ends differently.
Here’s hoping there are more books with Ness and his friends. I love dragons and I think this would be a great introduction to fantasy for kids.
I thought it would be fun to read a picture book. I haven't done it in the longest of times. I just wanted to say how much I loved this book and although it was a short one it had a good message. Also there was a dedication that I read that was absolutly beautiful! It was about the authors son and to be honest it made me cry because of how devoted of a father this author is. I also wanted to say that it teaches vocabulary in many ways and in the dedication it mentions that it's never too early to start reading to your children as it can help them in many ways. Lovely book would read it again in a heart beat..
The story here is fun and interesting. I am going to say that the book probably should be for younger reader's than 6-10 though. The art is amazing.
Now what others that have reviewed are upset about; my copy of the ebook did have a few chapters to preview another book at the end and that was very good as well. It also had an author bio that explained why they started writing.
I loved both stories and understand the ads. If you want books without don't get them for free. They need to promote their work somehow and honestly the only real issue with this book is that it is too short and maybe for the wrong age group.
My Little Pet Dragon is very cute, featuring a helpful little dragon named Ness in beautiful 3D illustrations. This book will be helpful to young children learning to read, as it is simple with just a few words per page. It was fun, but not the most creative of books. Basically it lists different ways that Ness helps out around the house and presents an illustration of him performing each activity. Again, great for reading comprehension since the pictures correspond to the words so well, but there are doubtless many similar picture books on the market.
If you are looking for a cute read for your young child then this is a book worth purchasing. The pictures in this book are so vivid and entertaining. The story is sure to generate a few giggles too. My three year old wanted me to read it over and over again. I absolutely loved it! I would definitely recommend purchasing this book. Even if you don't have a child the proceeds are going to a good cause. So run, don't walk, and purchase this book and help a young girl on her road to recovery!
Very cute little e-book who's story is told by single pictures of him on each page. The Illustrations by Julien Tromeur and Dimitar Marinov are rich in detail, with a plain white background that allows the dragon, named "Ness" to shine. The dedication at the end to a little girl in a neck brace is very sweet as well. My 3 year old granddaughter liked it even though "You know grandma, dragons can be mean! But this dragon is nice." I thought he was nice as well. No isbn# found
This is a cute picture book for toddlers. The illustrations are large, colorful and animated. It tells about a child who had received a pet dragon last Christmas and then proceeds to list the things that the dragon can do. There is no plot line; some of the pages contain a few words instead of sentences. Young children will enjoy looking at the pictures. A bonus puzzle is included at the end of the book. I'm not really sure about the age range, but I don't have kids. I got it to read to my nieces. The stories are cute and sweet, but a bit too simplistic for the 4.5 year old (she asked for a different book). They are only a few words per page, but do tell a pretty long/full story. They seem a bit too long for the two year old, but she loves the pictures so I think it will be good for her to grow into the length.
My Little Pet Dragon tells what a child does with a dragon that they receive for Christmas and how the dragon helps around the family. The dragon is given the name Ness. Considering another dragon gift for the next Christmas is a cute twist at the end of the story. The illustrations are cute, the text is simple and age appropriate for preschool age children.
I purchased My Little Pet Dragon as part of an anthology by Scott Gordon.
I bought this book, because it was recommended by Amazon for my 6 year old. Not only the font is barely readable, but the book is also almost entirely lacking a story. That's not even the worst part. The absolutely worst part is that after just a few pages it proceeds into many pages of advertisements of other books and is written for yet a completely different age group. It was a big disappointment for my kid who likes to read on his own.
My Little Pet Dragon by Scott Gordon Illustrated colorful children book story about a Christmas gift a child got, not just any dragon. A special smart one called Ness. He helps with homework and fixes my computer and brushes my teeth. He can do everything. This Christmas he gets a dragon, Neka. The dragons fall in love.
My Little Pet Dragon is by Scott Gordon. It is a very short book for preschoolers about a pet dragon he receives for Christmas. My grandson loved it. Scott wrote it for his autistic son who finally could say, ”dragon” after reading it over and over. It is a cute short book but the explanation of how it came about is interesting too.
This was a delightful easy to read story! My granddaughter Mary is 8 years old and autistic. Part of her autism is having obsessions, her obsession is dragons. She loved this story very much. So much so that we have read it enough times that she can read it herself.
If you are a science lover this is the read for you. It has a cute story hidden inside. Oh and it mentions Bacon. I didn't quite get the title with the addition of the extra stories but they were very inventive as well. Good kids read for science lovers as I stated before and for boys!
