They say to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Whoever said that didn't have a family. It should be keep your friends close and you family closer. After all its family who can hurt you the most.

I needed change, I needed a new life. Getting a job at a large hospital in another state was the way to do it. A way to get away from my old life, from the people who destroyed me. Working at a large hospital was a way to keep busy and to not procrastinate on my broken life, my old life, and it was working, until I met Rick Harvey.

It started out as a favour for the mother I despised, but turned out to be something so much more that happened so fast, it knocked me on my ass. All I wanted to do was work my way up in the law firm I work at, make sure that my father is proud of me and doing well himself and to meet a girl that wouldn’t break my heart. That was the plan until I met Dr Lucy Jackson, my mother’s favour.

Call her to make sure that she was ok, settled in. When that didn’t work out in the way that I had hoped, quick and easy, I was asked to go and see her, to make sure that she had all of her arms and legs. Big mistake. One look and I was a gonna. One look and I could see that she was fragile.

As it turned out our story would be fragile.

Its insane, I'll be sitting down and playing with my son or watching tv or even studying and BAM! an idea for a story pops into my head and I go "Ok...Let's see where this leads" and I head off and see where the story goes, sometimes it goes somewhere, sometimes it doesn't, but that's life for you.

I will have a twitter account as soon as I work out how to get one. :)

I love this book. Once I started reading this book I was not able to put it down. I want to thank Veronica for a ARC copy of this book. This is the first book that I have read by her and I plan to read more books by her very soon. Lu and Rik have a great love story.

I received a copy of Fragile from Veronica Short in exchange for an honest review. I wish that I could offer a favorable one, but I just can't. As the copy came directly from the author, I think I may have received an unedited copy and there were so many errors that it was actually quite distracting. And while the story started out interesting and unique, it ended up rushed and cliched.

Overall Rating: 2.5 stars- I wasted HOW many hours reading this crap?
It started out intriguing. Lucy is a doctor who has left home due to some unnamed drama in her family. Lucy's father is married to Rick's mother, though somehow they've never met. This is weird to me. Rick says he'll never forgive his mother for hurting his father, so I suppose that is supposed to be the reason he hasn't met his step-sister. However, he cares enough about his mother to do her a favor, so I didn't quite buy it. But I was willing to suspend disbelief to get to what was going on.

It started out okay. Rick seemed like he had some contacts, some mystery - he could find people. Only nothing ever came of that tidbit. At all. No mystery at all. It actually takes most of the story to figure out that Rick is a lawyer. Not because it's a mystery. Just because it's not really mentioned. We get almost no character development or backstory about Rick, which makes it hard to care about him too deeply.

Lucy is okay. She ends up staying with Rick through another set of not-really-believable circumstances and then they pretty much fall in love. I'm not putting that in a spoiler, because clearly, it's a romance novel and that's what happens.

It's actually that supposed scandal that really left me underwhelmed. I won't give it away in case you want to read it, but I just didn't find it that bad. Yes, she was betrayed. That is true. But why it would stand between Lucky and Rick, I just don't get.

And then there's the Big Twist which was just annoying. Up to that point, I'd like Lucy well enough. But then she keeps a secret from Rick and that just pissed me off and then it was all over for me.

The end was rushed and not developed well and I really just ended up not liking Lucy and thinking Rick needed to grow a pair and man up.

The sex was hit or miss. Not super smutty, but definitely a few scenes that weren't bad. And one that was downright steamy. A few more like that and I might have forgiven some of the other stuff. Sadly, it just wasn't meant to be.
Our hands and lips roam each other's bodies until we can't take it anymore. "Lu," Rick's voice is low, husky, sexy. "Lu, I need to be buried in you. I can't wait anymore."

I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love it. It's a nice story about mostly-nice people. But it just wasn't my cup of tea. At all.

Smut Factor: 2 stars- Plain vanilla, no sprinkles
Lucy: Character likability: 2 stars: I wouldn’t kiss this character with someone else’s lips.
Rick: Character likability: 3 stars: Didn’t hate them.
Storytelling: 3 stars- It could happen
Writing and editing quality: 2 stars- Seriously- try spell check.

Five Stars*****

I received an ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

From the moment I read his name, Rick stole my heart. So kind, considerate, and caring I instantly fell in love with him. He held nothing back when it came to Lucy and although they hit some bumps along the way. Rick always had Lucy’s best interest at heart, there was no doubt in my mind that he loved Lucy from the beginning to end and never once stopped loving her. As for Lucy she was the epitome of grace and dignity, she utterly amazed me. She handle the situation with a strength all her own, a female character to truly admire.

The only bad thing about this book: Ireland, Luke, and Mather were horrid. As far as Ireland and Luke go, they are hopeless and beyond redemption. Mather well she turned out okay but for a while there she was on my hit list.

A wonderful read, a story I will carry with me for some time especially because the Hero is exactly what I would look for, Rick has officially been added to my list of book boyfriends. I’ll definitely be recommending this to my fellow readers.

I loved this story! From the moment I picked it up, I just couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting and it stuck with me. This is definitely BOOK HANGOVER material!

Lucy ran. Due to circumstances out of her control, she needed change, a new life, a new beginning and she found it with the person she shouldn't have.

Rick did a favour for his mother, a person that he really dislikes but respects. She is his mother after all.

I loved how to the story developed and evolved. I loved the drama and the emotions. It's not a hot and heavy book, its sweet and caring.

Lucy and Rick's story grows with you, wanting it to hurry up and skip to the end. But it's worth the wait!

The TWIST that I did not see coming was a total WOW factor and I love, lOvE, LOVE the ending.

Great job and well worth the read!

DNF

Fragile, another awesome book to read!
I really loved it!
From the start up to last, it made me go crazy!

The characters are really great..
They are easy to love and like..
They are also relate-able and to get attached to..
The story, really loved it!!
It's not boring.
It's definitely interesting and fun!!
Love the complexity of the story..
I can easily see and feel the build up of the romance between the characters, and also the minor characters.

The way the story ended, it's really good.. AMAZING..
And I loved it!
Ms. Veronica really rock my world!!

Oh , I got so mad at Lucy at times I was screaming at her!! Rick made me mad also, ugh, the true definition of a man and how a man thinks!!! I will not say anymore, only that this is truly an amazing read
