This is a must read for anyone experiencing chronic persistent pain or is looking to help others with their pain!
This book is written in an easy to understand way and has many examples to help you fully grasp the concepts. You do not need to have a full understanding of the human body or the nervous system to make sense of the lessons. Each lesson is broken down into a variety of tasks and goals for the reader to think and write about. There is an app and a YouTube channel you can look at to help learn the material. These were both very useful to have along with the book in providing examples and scenarios to help understand.
If you are someone who has been to many many doctors and healthcare professionals with no explanation to your chronic pain, READ THIS BOOK. Find a physiotherapist that has a background in pain science and go through this book with them. Find a family member or a friend and read through this book with them. If you are serious about regaining your life and taking control of your pain, read this book!

A must have book for people with chronic pain, and practitioners helping them. Simple, clear, and helpful in its explanation of why some pain doesn't seem to go away. It incorporates the latest neuroscience research findings in pain as the basis of its explanation. This book can help reduce or alleviate the confusion of why pain continues, reduce fear and worry that comes with constant pain, and is a great foundation in starting the healing process.

This is a book that EVERYONE should read! We all know someone who has chronic pain or experience it ourselves. It helps in the understanding of chronic pain, the nervous system, emotions and how it is all connected in an easy read.

Several months into treatment, after a bad car accident, my physiotherapist gave me this with the workbook. We worked through it together, sometimeswith tough love. I really don't know what I would have done without it. It gave me insight into my own body and how my experiences made my injuries feel even worse. With that understanding, and a heck of a lot of personal work (including physiotherapy, massage, kinesiology, personal training, specialists, counseling and lots of homework) I was able to resume a more normal lifestyle in a much happier way. I'm experiencing life again and enjoying it.
