Son of Achilles

Rate this book
In "Son of Achilles," the son of the great Greek hero, Achilles, embarks on a quest of unyielding revenge in the wake of Troy's fall. This odyssey takes him to the far north of the Black Sea, to the homeland of the mighty Amazons. Here, he becomes entwined in their mission to protect their queen and annihilate a selfish god causing havoc in their realm.

With its roots in the ancient legends of the Nephilim— offspring of fallen angels, perceived as demigods— this novel opens a window to an age of mythical heroes and villains. Experience a fascinating exploration of a time when the world's true superheroes and supervillains might have walked the earth, their powers and motivations as vast and unpredictable as the gods themselves.

The "Son of Achilles" invites readers to witness a clash of colossal powers, where vengeance meets duty, and destiny is shaped in the crucible of divine and mortal conflicts.

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

The adventures of Pyrrhus, the son of Achilles, after his father is killed during the Trojan War. He is on a mission of vengeance, and gets involved with The Amazons.

The author shoves in the concept of The Nephilim, which doesn't really add to anything. Where did this vogue about the Nephilim come from? Nobody talked about them even just a couple of years ago.

Oh well. Not bad, even if there is a lot of telling instead of showing.

entertaining enough, plenty of bloody battle and lots of fighting. also lots of juvenile writing and descriptions. sort of a love story throughout, and definitely a thrill as claimed as it told a wildly heroic tale of nephilim, giants, gods, heroes, and Amazons. can't say I'd recommend it though.

Some of the passages felt like the authors used a thesaurus to change adjectives to be more interesting. It’s hard to describe, but some of the words just didn’t feel like they fit properly. There is a stark difference in how the authors describe male soldiers versus female soldiers, which I found to be disappointing. Whenever a female character was spoken about, her sensuality was exasperated, which didn’t seem to fit with the theme of the story. There are a few typos throughout the text.

This book was independently published by the authors..I would like to thank them and Goodreads Giveaways for my copy ..which came signed! And added a fun bookmark..thank you!
If you like Mythology like I do ...you will really enjoy this book.. others did not like because they referenced the Nephilim...but having read the Book of Enoch, I enjoyed that take on the story
Read it, you won't be sorry.

An engaging tale of what happens after the fall of Troy and the death of Achilles. I never realized that Achilles had a son and I enjoyed learning more about his part in the avenging of his father's murder. The story had me riveted as I watched the unfolding of this story. It made me want to go back and learn more about these characters.

I love Greek mythology, especially when there is some romance in there. It was a short read, but it is something I was looking for.

3.5 stars for me!

I got this book in a Good Reads giveaway. I was interested due to my fascination with mythology and Greek mythology is always a fun one to read about. There is a lot of action in this book, which was fun to read through and envision. There are some triggers like violation and death but there is also some romance. I struggled some with the book, keeping interested and such, mainly because it was hard for me to read at times. It is a short read, making it easier to read as you can finish quickly. Not my favorite book but not the worst.

I won this book in a drawing a couple days ago. I’m a big fan of Riordan and his books about Percy Jackson and the Greek gods, so I’ve been delving into Greek mythology lately. So I was really anticipating reading this book, and I was super excited when I won it. And I must say, it is a thriller! I enjoyed it a lot!

Independently published by Vincent Montez & Craig Hamann, Son of Achilles tells of the aftermath of the epic battle of Troy on the voyage of vengeance that Pyrrhus, the acknowledged son of the legendary Achilles. While father and son helped in defeating and destroying the kingdom of Troy, Achilles is killed in the process. However, it is not who Pyrrhus believes to be, but rather the god, Apollo. In his quest to avenge his father, Pyrrhus becomes entangled with the Amazons, who got themselves a new Queen, Cassandra, daughter of the fallen King of Troy. Through their partnership, they vow to defeat the wicked god Apollo and claim the treasure that Pyrrhus desperately desires.

I do enjoy mythological adventures, although I admittedly, do not know much about the legendary battle at Troy. So this is all rather new to me. There is plenty of epic battles, damsels, betrayal, mystery, romance, and homages to the original myth here to enjoy for fans who are new and knowledgeable in the tale. Despite the short pages, the main cast gradually do become fleshed out and shown to have different sides to them that makes them much more human than myth. For a self-published work, the authors know how to twist and expand on myths of such legendary proportions. Even though it took a while for me to finish this short book, I did enjoy the saga thoroughly. It's not perfect, but definitely not a bad read at all. I had won an autographed copy of this book from the GoodReads giveaway and very much grateful to have received this book in the selection and would like to say Son of Achilles is worth a shot at reading.

I received this as a giveaway from Goodreads. I was not overly impressed with this book but I think that it has potential if the authors were to go back and smooth out some of the transitions between scenes. Currently it reads as choppy, almost like the authors took turns writing chapters, or at least scenes/characters. The shortness of this book precluded it from really developing several of the characters so that you had to already know who they were or be familiar with part of Greek mythology. While I really wanted to enjoy this book it actually took me quite a long time to get this read because I was willing to put it down and do other things. As an English teacher I would term this a good rough draft that needs to be fleshed out more.

I got this as part of a free giveaway from Goodreads. I was curious about the idea of nephilim and gods, but wished they would have delved more into that. While I like retellings and variations of stories of mythology, fairy tales, and angels, this one missed the mark.

DNF

I'm giving it 2 stars because I know some people who may enjoy it but it wasn't my thing. It is really like some dude bros fanfiction telling of Pyrrhus after the war where Apollo is a super bad demon like guy and all the demigods have Wonder Woman-esque abilities.

I was a bit disappointed with this book as highly recommended by a colleague. Very factual and less description which could have ‘beefed it out’ and made it more enjoyable to read

I liked this story. It took me on an interesting visual journey, while also giving the characters more depth than just beauty and strength.
