You’ve got to admire people who come up with a whole new agile approach in the 2020s. In a nutshell, Fluid Scaling Technology (the “a” possibly stood for “agile,” but they seem to have dropped that) is using Open Space Technology to continuously discover and then do what needs to be done.
Start by forming a “collective” (of about 10-100 people) around a common purpose. Have a few people (“stewards”) stand up to lead a few days’ worth of effort, and the rest self-select into teams around the various work topics. After a few days (not weeks!), reconvene, share what you did and what you learned, then start this whole “value cycle” again – with new topics and a new team configuration.
No sprints, no permanent roles, no DoR or DoD; just do the right thing next. Interesting, isn’t it?
