Definitely not as good as the other two books I've reviewed in regards to Coaching Childrens Soccer. I'd recommend Coaching Youth Soccer and Teaching Soccer Fundamentals over this. This book is out-dated, and it shows. It focuses on a full 11-v-11 competetion, which normally no longer occurs with children under age 10. Also, the coaching style and attitude is behind the current thinking in child psychology. It promotes punishing bad behavior instead of rewarding good behavior. Even the choice in games seems relatively archaic. They actually recommend the kids play a version of Smear the Coach. This book looks and feels like it was written in the 80s.

Good general information about proper form and follow through, however each age learns different ideas better at different ages. There is a book that I read recently that went into better detail on this and additional strategies for each age group, as well as older age stratagems and practice sections. I'll add the book here when I get it back from a person I loaned it to. However since the information is so generic its only good as introductory information without any idea on how to manage teaching strategy.
