An intimate tale that explores mental health conflicts, addictive tendencies, a desperate attempt for understanding and love, and a journey of self-discovery.

Sat in an Edinburgh train station, Lucas recalls meeting Megan during their darker years.

Transported back through the years, Lucas relives the spiral of falling in love, his hope in life restored through the feeling that a new chapter of his life is now beginning.

Desperate to escape their inner demons, they find sanctuary in each other, but how long can they keep the shadows at bay?

Everyone must face themselves eventually. The two of them dive deep into a year-long relationship, trying to find love for each other and themselves, fiercely seeking sanctuary from their own minds.

They meet and break. Push and pull. Fix and fall apart. But through suffering, torment, escape, and ecstasy, can they learn the lesson that will ultimately set them free?

I Escape Through You is a novella that dives deep into the hard truths of relationships and love, and while hard to face, still provides hope that love is always the answer, just not in the way you first expect it.

So this book took me by surprise. The best way I can describe it is by the tone of it. It gives off a “Perks of Being a Wallflower” vibe.

The author did an amazing job setting not only the tone but the visuals. I pictured everything so clearly in my head. I felt the emotions on the pages and the need to know what happens next. I wish I could do better in describing the book itself, but this is one of those books where you are just left with the feelings you felt. Almost like you lived it and it’s now a distant memory.

(Also if you’ve ever seen 500 days of Summer-this has that vibe too).

I Escape Through You is a love story told from the point of view of Lucas, who recalls his first experience of falling in love. After meeting in an online game chat, the lonely Lucas quickly begins a turbulent relationship with Megan, a troubled PhD student who can never quite fulfill his expectations and desires.

I found this story to be very thoughtful, fascinating, and beautifully written. It is the type of novel that causes you to stop and remember your own past relationships, while perhaps even considering the importance of understanding expectation versus reality. You will still be reflecting on this story long after you have finished reading it.
