Q didn't exactly have an exciting life. A small description would be able to tell you that. What it wouldn't be able to tell you is how all of that changed. In a flash, Q's world is tossed about as his perception of 'fear', 'anxiety' and 'danger' are pushed to completely new limits. Join him in his journey through space (and obviously time) as he meets new allies and enemies, forges new relationships, explores infinity and beyond, and most importantly, discovers the hidden power inside him. But he isn't the only one with secrets. One of his friends holds a deadly secret. A secret that could make him or break him And the Odds are not good

I generally like YA books, but I found this one to be too juvenile for my taste. The whole plot line was rather dull, with so many pointless 'twists' revealed in the most boring manner. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and I didn't care what happened to them or the story. That's not to say it's necessarily a bad book, just not suited to me.
I really enjoyed delving into this sci-fi fantasy. From the beginning it has a really fast pace that keeps you moving forward at lightning speed, but not so fast that you get confused. I immediately had questions that I couldn’t wait to get answered, like for example, what really happened to Q’s parents? What is Carlos hiding? I didn’t have to wait long to have most of my questions answered.
From Earth to S.P.A.C.E, from humans to Zyxians, this book will keep you entertained and intrigued as you get to know the characters amid captivating surroundings. With descriptive scenes it was easy to visualize what Q saw as he discovers this whole other world full of things he never imagined in his wildest dreams were true. To discover his brother has a secret life in a world so different and beautiful (yet dangerous) is quite the shock to Q but his curiosity is stronger than fear and next thing you know he is thrown into his own fantastic adventure.
All the characters are well developed and I really enjoyed reading their stories. I knew getting into this book that it was a sci-fi romance but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed every aspect, not just the sci-fi side. The author does a great job of showing the character’s feelings instead of just telling you so that you can really get into their heads and feel what they are feeling. The romance side of this story was sweet and fun to read. The sci-fi side was fascinating and unique. Would love to know more about how the portals work.
I also liked how the tension builds and builds, keeping you glued to the book and just waiting to know what happens next. With the first person narrative you can really get to know Q and experience what he is going through from his perspective. His confusion, his excitement, his passion and love, it’s so moving and makes for a refreshing read.
I loved the addition of mythical creatures (like griffins), a delightful surprise! I also wasn’t expecting the subtle humor that runs through the book, often with an almost sarcastic tone. Along with the plot twists and turns I was left guessing and waiting in anticipation for the next surprise to be revealed.
I am definitely glad I bought this gem and cannot wait for book 2! I will definitely recommend this book to all my sci-fi loving friends.
The only reason this book doesn't get a single star is because the author actually finished three books, and that's worth something.
The plot is so nonsensical as to be incomprehensible. The characters are worse than two dimensional, they barely qualify as points on the spectrum. The action is poorly planned, poorly executed, and poorly described and invokes no sense of danger or threat. The personal interactions between characters reads about as realistic as a teletubby episode. And the writing quality throughout is sub-par. I've read better in my amateur writing group.
I've also never seen more characters shouting in capital letters throughout a book outside of Death in a Pratchett novel, and I hesitate to even put a master of the craft's name into a review of an inferior specimen.
I bought this based on an Amazon recommendation, but I didn't notice until too late that it was an Amazon Kindle recommendation, not an Amazon Books recommendation. Kindle does not do as a good a job on vetting the quality of its recommendations and this is the last time I'll be trusting it.
I am not a sci-fiction fan. I read this purely out of curiosity.I would certainly not recommend this book to teenagers at all.
In one line why I didn't like:It was such a drag. Here is the longer one, reasons, why I don't like this book:
1.Too many details. There is a point where Q is explaining his suit and I am like "okay I get it! Now move on already.Where I would have liked details there was none like about the zyxians.
2.I thought this book was sci-fiction. so from which view does a werewolf and a dragon seem sci-fiction???
3.This book felt like it had a mixture of Harry Potter and Vampire Academy.
4.All the use of exclamation marks felt like it was directing you on where to laugh than just a form of expression.
But there are a few plus points: The author's writing style is very good. His personal touch to the book by adding a note. The quirky one liners which was the only form of humour.
Bottom Line: Good plot but lost its point,so not a good read.
I am a true lover of science fiction space opera and I really enjoy getting lost in a good sci-fi novel. ConQuest by Dhayaa Anbajagan is just such a book. Once I started reading this book I had trouble taking a break.
The author has put together a fast pace, exciting adventure that is full of action and intrigue. I loved all the twist and turns that kept me guessing what was going to happen next. The author's storytelling style made the storyline come alive.
Dhayaa Anbajagan has created a cast of characters that were awesome. I really enjoyed getting to know them and following their adventures.
I really liked ConQuest by Dhayaa Anbajagan and I highly recommend this book to all readers.
I just couldn't carry on reading it beyond the first few chapters. The characters were weak and what was happening to them was all too weird without any explanation and without any good build-up for anticipation for the big reveal. The whole thing was full of cliches - rich kids without parents living alone in a massive mansion and one of them having an underground facility with super high tech, the otherworldly city was something taken out of cheesy '80s sci-fi film. The blurb made the book sound fascinating, but the reality was far from it.
This book was really good!! I enjoyed reading it! Everything was described in an amazing manner.....cud really actually imagine it happen.... But...the last few pages..like d last 3-4 pages went on too fast.....maybe a little more.....ended a little quick I felt.. But an amazing book to read for all sci-fi and adventure readers!!! Thank you sooo much Dhayaa Anbajagane
While the story line had potential it was never really developed. It was just one crisis after another with inane dialogue I between.
Character development was virtually non-existant and each was clueless throughout the story. The writing was juvenile; I am not even sure elementary kids would like this.
There was a few editing mistakes. I can forgive that easily enough. I could not put the book down though. One day he was an average kid and then wham. I will be reading the next book.
This was billed to me as something like David Weber or John Ringo. I did not find that true. I would say it is closer to Harry Potter. It is no where near as good as any of the mentioned works. Not really worth your time.
