With the future of the Arctic Circle Murder Club teetering on rocky ground, the team members have scattered. But it’s not long before they realize some bonds can’t be broken.
Fearing an adversary from her past will find her, Simmy Samuels runs, determined to find a new place to hide. But Ranger Garrett isn’t about to leave Simmy out in the cold and alone. He’s determined to both protect Simmy and to search for his daughter, whom he thought was dead.
As Ranger and Simmy set out to find his little girl, danger follows them into the vast wilderness of Alaska. Challenges meet them at every unyielding danger, truth that feels more like fiction, and reality blurred by deception.
Will they survive long enough to set things right? Or will this be the end of the road for the murder club?
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
I didn’t want to put this one down! It was full of action but also intrigue. I’ll confess, the “then” storyline was super icky with twisted people, so the justice served at the end felt super good. I loved getting Simmy and Ranger’s POV for the True Crime Junkies.
In “The End of the Road” we finally get to read Ranger and Simmy’s stories and uncover the secrets hidden in their pasts. This book was unlike the others in this series as it was written as a dual timeline. The “past” timeline kept me completely enthralled. I just had to keep reading to see what happened. The author also includes a couple big plot twists that will keep readers glued to the pages!
". . . . . she knew too much. I wouldn't let her ruin me. . . . . She was mine. And I couldn't wait to remind her of that fact."
Simmy Samuels and Ranger Garrett!!! Who knew what a story they had to tell?! So many secrets hidden deep within the mountain ranges of Alaska. When their identities are inadvertently revealed to the public through an Arctic Circle Murder Club case, they go on the run once again . . . . providentially running into each other, and deciding to face what comes next together . . . even if it means "I'm in this with you. Until the end."
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:8-9. "Lord, let that be my prayer. Help us not to be destroyed."
This fast moving romantic suspense, borderline thriller, borderline cozy mystery, borderline split-time novel is perfectly paced, perfectly plotted, and perfectly woven into the overall series with the aplomb of a seasoned veteran who knows how to keep an audience tuned in over and over again. The inspirational elements are seamlessly woven into the story, and the outcome is not only just a bit of a surprise, but totally satisfying.
Christy Barritt wrote the sixth book in the True Crime Junkies series, The End of the Road. This time reader will see Ranger and Simmy Samuels story. Barritt throws flashbacks in for Simmy’s past, which allows readers to see what actually occurred in her past. It was pretty disbursing. Of course, in true Barritt fashion, bullets are flying and Ranger and Simmy’s are testing the romance waters while they are trying to save each other and another person’s life. I enjoy the non-stop action, and the constant need to keep flipping through the pages. The romance really didn’t wow me or push me away from the plot either, which is nice. Nothing worst than reading a suspense novel, and the characters have to stop to think about their feelings for each other. Overall, The End of the Road by Christy Barritt is thrill ride from the start with memorable characters.
I received a complimentary copy of The End of the Road by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.
The first word that comes to mind after finishing this book is danger. It was nearly constant! I really felt for the characters! They encountered some truly dangerous and intense situations. The bad guys were the very definition of villains. There were many surprising twists and turns, and I was reading as fast as I could to find out what happened next.
I was excited to finally learn more about Simmy and Ranger. They both had mysterious pasts, so I really enjoyed getting their backstories. They’re both really interesting characters. I liked them before, but my respect for them grew even more.
I’m loving this series and am excited to dive into the next book. I highly recommend it, especially to people who enjoy thrilling mysteries with a touch of romance. Start with book one, and you’ll be hooked!
The True Crime Junkies series always suck me right in, and they are so hard to put down. The End of the Road is Ranger and Simmy's story. Barritt adds flashbacks to Simmy's past in this story, allowing readers to get her backstory. When the Arctic Circle Murder Club members' identities are inadvertently leaked to the public, Simmy prepares to leave because someone from her past can catch up to her. Instead Ranger and Simmy end up together searching for a missing person, Ranger's daughter. The End of the Road is a fast-paced, action-packed story with twists and turns, secrets, and danger following Ranger and Simmy. You will not be able to put this one down.
This has been the best series and a wonderful book. The readers get to learn of Ranger and Simmie’s backgrounds that lead to why they are in Alaska. The book delves into a subject that might be temperamental to some but does so in a delicate manner. The book has all of the danger and excitement we find in all of Christy Barritt books. Be sure to pick this one up to read soon. Though they are a series, the books can also be read as stand alone. However, once you read a Christy Barritt novel you will want to read them all.
I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. When her identity is released, Simmy Samuels decides to run, but Ranger Garrett won’t let her go alone. He’s determined to protect her and find his daughter. As adversaries chase them, they continue to search for answers. A riveting story about loss, protecting self and others, and staying ahead of danger. A great addition to this series.
I am enjoying this series from Christy Barritt, as I do every book of hers that I have read. This series is great & I think this is the best one so far. Not the best book of hers necessarily, as I would not know which to choose! She makes her characters al & people that I would like to know, as well as showing her faith in a way that is a part of the character's life, not in a "preachy" manner.
Finally we learn Simmy’s story- and it one you’d never expect!
Another exciting storyline from Christy Barritt’s Arctic Murder Club & The Round Table podcast. Although this one’s not for podcast publication, it’s just as twisted & full of excitement as any that came before. Fans of Duke & Andi will love having them be the back up for this adventure as well. I can’t wait for the next chapter!
I am enjoying this True Crime Junkies Series, and though I love when the whole group is working together, each doing their own part to solve a crime, it was fun to get to know Ranger and Simmy as we heard their story. Simmy suddenly took off from the group, followed by Ranger, as they each faced dangerous secrets from their pasts. Follow along with Ranger, Simmy, and yes, Duke and Andi, to solve the mysteries of years past.
I received a free coy of this novel. The opinions are my own.
4.25/5 stars. Amazing book! This book specifically talks about Simmy and Ranger's background story. I loved how every character has a backstory that you never expected. And the romance? Amazing. I think Simmy and Ranger are made for each other. I also loved the timeline between old Simmy and the present Simmy. The mystery that they are trying to solve is intense, and I loved how everything turned out. I will read the next book in the series.
Christy never disappoints. She holds your attention and makes sure that you are living in the story. I kept traveling along with the rest of the crew and never looked back. I was disappointed to find that Apollo was a traitor and working with Vivian. Great story of suspense and romance and very well written..
Wow! Another great True Crime Junkies book. I was kept wondering what was happening next. This story is full of anticipation! Ranger & Dummies past catch up with them and as it unravels you are taken through a journey of past secrets, deception, bad guys and a missing child. The way everything turns out is nothing but a miracle and smart thinking.
It was not what I expected, it was more. The suspense keep you on edge and reading taking in each clue and piecing them together. There were so many different scenarios you could come up with and until the end the pieces came together. Great job Ms Barritt! Now for Adie's and Duke's story.
This series is just getting better and better! The End Of the Road is even more full of dangerous adventure than the previous books in the series! The story is so face paced that it’s hard to believe than a budding romance fit in the nooks and crannies, but it masterfully does. Hold on to your set, or, better yet, just let go and experience the ride!
Ranger is on a mission to find the daughter he'd thought was dead, but recently discovered she was alive. Simmy is running scared. Something happened to my review, so I'll just say this was another really good addition to the True Crime Junkies series. Will Andi ever nail Victor? Maybe next book?
True Crime Junkies has become a favorite series of mine! Finding out the truth about Simmy’s past and finding out the amazing man Ranger was and still is and now knowing how devastated he was about his daughter really got to me! This is one series I don’t want to end!
Awesome read....the best of this series so far. It was different from the others: Most of the book focused on Ranger and Simmy, and the two siblings were not in the book at all. The pasts of both Ranger and Simmy are revealed, and they both have ghosts and bad guys to deal with. This one also had more romance in, which was cool. I couldn't put this one down, and it was definitely a page turner.
Christy Barritt again leaves you with questions that we all need answers to! I am so glad to finally see some closure on Simmy and Ranger's stories. The story line in this series is entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'll admit I never saw the ex husband plot in Simmy's past nor the children. Spectacular job!
Now if book 7 and 8 would hurry up and be released...
Mark was a very cruel manipulator!!! The more you read the more you are stunned and heart broken. Ranger and Simmy and others worked to figure out what he was doing and why he was doing it. I can’t wait for you to read this story. You’re gonna smile big at the end. NO PEEKING!!!! Enjoy
I have read a lot of Ms Barritt's books, and enjoyed this one as much as the others. Even though this is the 6th in this series it's the first one of these I've read. I plan to go back and read the others. I love the mystery of the story as well as all of the action.
I've liked every book I've ever read by Christy Barritt, but this .... her best ever! Do read these in order, however, so you know these REAL people, I mean characters, from the start. I find myself thinking about their situations. That kind of story! Incredible story!
The end of the road is as always a page Turner and always looking for the next story. Simmy story was incredible , sad, and yet scary. I don't know how Christy Barritt does it but she is an excellent writer.
At first, the back and forth story was hard to follow, but then both stories had their own draw. Christy does it again! Suspense personified! Action, intrigue, moral compass, Godly encouragement! Enough said, read this novel!!!
This 6th book in True Crime Junkies series is extremely suspenseful. I read it in one day and couldn't put down. I can't wait for the next one in the series. I really hope you continue this series, Christy.
Packed with intense action, this latest release is full of backstory and several puzzle pieces from the series. Add it to your TBR list, and clear some time for uninterrupted reading, like I wanted.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
I love this series and this book has been my favorite so far. Christy Barritt is one of my favorite authors. Her characters are wonderful. Great suspense with not too much romance.
This book held you from the start and has left unanswered ready for us to see the series play out in the next couple of books. Cannot wait to see what happens next!!
