Full Moon Gamma

Rate this book
Rayce is sent on a recon mission to find out if hellhounds are in Lansing. What he discovers on his way is his mate, Peyton, has followed him into the very heart of danger.

Peyton has loved Rayce from the moment Rayce saved him. He knows he probably shouldn’t be following Rayce, but the instinct driving him to protect the man he has already fallen for causes him to go recklessly into the city. All is not as it seems, and Peyton will have to find strength to survive for not only himself but his mate and friends as well.

This may be read as a standalone book however for better reading enjoyment, it is adviced to read the series in order. Thank you.

Short, sexy and sweet—where a little love goes a long way.
That’s the best way to describe Jackie Nacht’s stories. I was introduced to M/M Romance through my sister, Stephani, and read it for years. Then, I thought it was time to put my own stories on paper. I began writing short and sweet stories that ended with a happily ever after…and sometimes more than one, in the case of my YA Fork in the Road series, which has interactive endings.
Thinking back to my own book addiction, where there were many nights I stayed up way too late so I could read just one more chapter—yeah, right—I decided to write short romances for young adults as well as adults. Hopefully, they will give high school and college students, or working men and women something they can read during their lunch hour, in between classes or just when they want to briefly get away from the daily stresses of everyday life.

Don't get me wrong this was really good....but it's super dark at the same time! Kidnap, torture over a the course of a month. We also finally see some friutation of an interesting hellhound surrounding his bite.. what's up next is anyone's guess.

Yet another excellent installment in the Moon Compound series. This time around we are treated to the story of Rayce and Peyton. As this is the third book in the series we have had a chance to get to know a little bit about these two characters previously. Readers of the series were already aware that they were mates as Rayce was hyper-protective of Peyton as soon as he rescued him and his brother Colin in book one. This prior history enabled the author to expand the story further and introduce more action as the war with the Hellhounds takes an unexpected turn (and no I won’t tell you what it is).

While we do see far more action in Full Moon Gamma with the war’s escalation, this does not mean that we are not treated to the same level of relationship development and hot M/M action as we have been in the previous books. Rayce and Peyton are both involved in the conflict in this book and their time together strengthens their bond and causes their relationship to move along faster than Rayce wanted. Unfortunately incidents occur that bring out Rayce’s protectiveness of Peyton and drastic measures must be taken for Rayce to insure Peyton’s safety.

Ms. Nacht has continued the development of her shifter world by introducing the Gamma wolf. It just so happens that Peyton is the rare Gamma and what he can do is freaking cool. Of course, I won’t tell you what it is because that would spoil the story, you’ll just have to read Full Moon Gamma for yourself to find out. This series just keeps getting better and better and I am looking forward to the next novella.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

BEST. ONE. YET! I was totally not expecting (or prepared) for the intensity of this third book in the series. It started out with a foreboding in the very beginning that something terrible was going to happen. And then when it did, my heart was just pounding at what they all went through. Oh the torture! Damn you hellhounds! I was so tense reading it but I could not put it down. There was no easy out or magical escape from their captivity and you could feel how much these guys really suffered (especially Deacon). Even their recoveries were difficult, both physically and emotionally. There were some tender moments too but overall it was quite a ride. I cannot wait to hear more about all the potential new mates . Even the last paragraph was emotional. War is gearing up and I shall be there.

Firstly, I’d advise not to skip straight to this book because, IMO, you will be a little confused on the world and what’s happening without reading the first two books before this one. This story picks up right where Full Moon Feral leaves off with Rayce and the others assigned to do a little recon of the hellhound Ripley’s said he’s seen before. When they arrive in Lansing, they uncover two things, one, Peyton’s followed them on their mission, unwilling to leave Rayce alone; and, two, the hellhounds are much more organized than they thought when they’re ambushed and captured. Through weeks of torture and no chance of survival, their only hope comes in the unlikely form of one of their enemies…

I really, really liked this one. I felt like it had so much more intensity to it. Rayce and Peyton, along with a few others, spend a few weeks locked up in horrible conditions, starved and beaten to an inch of their life, all at the hands of the hellhounds. So much happens during their time captured including getting to know each other, caring for one another and Rayce finally accepting that he can’t outrun his mating bond anymore. I liked that Rayce was so determined not to force Peyton into his shift, since he still had a few years to go before he was ready but I also liked that Peyton had a unique ability that guided him through certain situations. Their time together in this book is sad because a majority of it is when they’re weak and emotionally damaged. The last half of the story or so, I was literally on the edge of my seat afraid of what might happen next. It was interesting to see it all played out and to see how everyone’s opinions of hellhounds changed. Some for the better, some for the worst… if that makes any sense lol

As with the previous books, I desperately wished this one had been longer! I loved that we got to explore more into the hellhounds and how weird they’ve been acting and I also loved that this one took place outside the Moon Compound, I just really wish we had gotten a meatier story. I would have liked more depth to the characters and the plot. As it was, it’s a good little story that deals with a much darker trope than the previous books. In fact, this one doesn’t have much happy to it until the end or so but I think that’s why I liked it so much, because it had more substance and dealt with more of the horrors around this world than the others did.

In the end, this was a great story. I’m really enjoying how this series is progressing and love that with each new book, we get a glimpse at possible future mates. I liked that we got to experience a different kind of shifter than just the omegas and alphas and it was interesting to see where this story went. I’m looking forward to reading the next book, Full Moon Hellhound, and will definitely be eager to get future stories, as well. If you’re looking for something short, intense and slightly different than the usual shifter story, give this one a try. It just might surprise you ;)

Full Moon Gamma by Jackie Nacht, Review & Giveaway!
Jan 17th - Jan 21st

I am NOT going to reveal this story or talk about the blurb or give away spoilers. One must read it and feel the full impact of this story without anyone spoiling it or taking away from the tension that surrounds you the entire read. But I am going to tell you my opinion on Full Moon Gamma.
.
I knew it, I knew it the first time I laid eyes on the series that I’m going to get hooked. I knew it. But Sweet Mother of Hades, this is beyond good. I love, love, LOVED this book. It was painful, it was horrible even, it was explicit to the point I felt the welts on my own flesh and the pain wreaking havoc on my own body. Add to that the emotional break-down of a mating pair being slowly torn apart and I had a lump the size of an elephant on my chest for mostly half the read, and yet I loved every single moment of it. But it was incredibly painful reading the story as it unfolded. Even as I knew it’s all going to be well in the end, even as I saw how and where the help was going to come from. And oh my god, can you believe I felt sorry for the “helper”? At some point I wished for him not to be able to feel, because damn, his inner turmoil dealing and coping with those emotions must have been HELL, which by the way I can barely stand to wait for his turn and story...

Jackie Nacht is kind of a bad writer. I get what she's trying to do with these stories, and aspiring to be on par with the likes of authors like Charlie Richards shouldn't be an unattainable goal. Sadly for some (like Nacht), it is. The premise is cool, but that's about all this series has going for it. The pacing, characterization, world building, dialogue, technical writing... It's just all bad. And where Charlie Richards can usually make her stories engaging enough that you want to ignore the glaring shortcomings, Nacht just doesn't have that same knack for storytelling. Because on top of everything else, these stories are boring. Formulaic to the point of sleep-inducing.

4****.....i think.....
Cause, wow. I so wasn't ready for that level of intensity! It's funny because I'm not really sure I '' liked '' this installment because of the content. But I realize that it is indeed an important part of the series. Those things HAD to happen. And yeah, war is war... But.... You have any idea how many times I said No! while reading this??? Sigh... Okay. Okay. Looking forward to the next one (I think?....)

Okay this story was satisfying, a third book in Moon Compound stories. Peyton and Rayce story was well develoved. The whole storyline was full of pain, hurt and suffering, but made the storyline richer, because it wasn't just a simple romance, but much more.

In third Compound series we got little bit of changes in story plot but still it was boring.

So from my point of view it was nothing special.
