Bloodlines #3

Resistance

Rate this book
My name is Sawyer Crown, I own Bloodlines Tattoo Parlor, despise drama, and have a penchant for broken women. It's a habit I intend to kick.

Our arrangement had been simple. Clara and I slept together if and when we wanted too. We were always best friends first. We raised Allie together with love. Four years into it did people assume we were married- yes. Did people assume I was Allie's father- sure. Did I love every second of that- most definitely.

Then my world exploded. Clara left me. Moved on. I'm supposed to too. I just haven’t figured the moving on part out quite yet. The heart wants what it wants right? Or maybe the mind want what it wants for the heart. All of those scenarios are bullsh*t though. Clara went for the gold. She carved out the happiness she needed, wanted.

Now it’s my turn.

Everything seemed to be going great until a crazy one night stand that changed my world. How could anyone ever be prepared for Pepper Philips?

So here it goes....did I think Mags/Pepper deserved an HEA? If you read Objectives and know everything that woman went through, you would pray she did. Someone send her a Hero.

"How will I ever be good enough for you."

What I liked about the story?

Sawyer...."Tell me a truth." *SWOON*

I thought I wanted Mags to find a man who was going to dominate her. Someone to help her forget everything she endured. I was wrong. She didn't need to forget, she needed to accept it all and let people in. She needed to be helped. You lose love once specially tragically, there's no way you want to let it back in. So what did Pepper do? Push Sawyer away. Thanks to Clara, who I hated probably for the first 20 chapters, made it clear to him that he gave her what she wanted. A way out. He needs to make it clear to her He Wants Her!

"You fall in love, sometimes fall out, but you always fall in love again someday. You're robbing yourself of that chance."

Readers, this man fought for her. I felt it all over my bones how he bent over backwards for her. Mr. Bad Ass MC/Tattoo Artist...but that's all a shell. He's softer than a babies butt inside and wait until you read how he got his MC nickname. Priceless.

You know that moment in a book when everything is going alright and you're waiting for something to happen because it's too good to be true, and you know it's going to turn everything into shit? Yeah that happens. The past comes back like a lighting bolt at Pepper. I was anticipating that scene. It needed to happen in my opinion. Didn't think poor Sawyer would actually get to live it. It's also a time where he unfortunately learns all the truth behind Pepper's past. Mags past. No Bueno. She always warned him that she wasn't any good and she would somehow mess his life up like everyone else in her life. Now is the time where Sawyer needs to show her she can get everything she ever wanted before it was all stripped from her.

"You're trying to save me, but please, stop. You'll never save me from myself or the conflict that courses through me. The guilt."

Were you waiting for my BUT? What I didn't enjoy?

There was a big past with Ezra and it was handled too quickly for me. I get that this is Pepper's healing story, but her past was to big to let it go so easily. If he was going to come after her I needed to know why and how he was going to do it. Mind you I said: "Fuck Yeah" after Pepper handled it he way she did. But I would've like to see the psycho furious side of Ezra. Also what about Carmine. The goon. He was picked up and that's all. Come on, Sawyer could've at least beaten his ass. Maybe even Greta, Hoot or Bentley. I was lacking a little of that action.

Do I recommend the book?

Oh my god yes and specially if you're following the series. Some of these characters play such important parts and have blended very well showing up in the other books. Like Allie. That kid is Amazing. I wonder if she'll continue to crush on the President's kid? Pepper might have to teach Sawyer to shoot. No cliffy, Yes to an HEA and a Heroine worth cheering for. Oh and the Epilogue...BEAUTIFUL❤️

I have been looking forward to this book since Tug of War and Objective only made it worse! SWAYER!!! I was thoroughly in love with him before, he was every woman's dream guy, after reading Resistance it just made me fall in love with him all over again! K. Larsen doesn't disappoint. This continuation of Pepper/ Magnolia's story is fantastic and you want everything to work out and hoping it will work out, but even NOW your just don't know what is in store for her. She is so broken and he is so perfect but will he be able to glue her back together and make her whole again. That is something I kept asking myself all through this book. I just never knew!

This is written mostly all in Sawyers POV. For those who may not have read the previous books Sawyer is the co owner of Bloodlines Tattoo shop, in love with the other owner and the non-biological father to Allie the other owner's daughter. In the Prelude and the 1st chapter we relive the crushing heart break he went through in Tug of War. He struggles to recover from the blow and makes an effort to become himself again. We witness his healing process and the life altering moment when he first meets Pepper.

We first meet Pepper when she comes into the bar and asks Sawyer "Truth or Lie?". Though Sawyer didn't think he was at all interested at first he was soon caught in her snare with in the first few seconds. One night is all she is willing to give him or any man. When their interlude is over Pepper is gone fast. Sawyer doesn't... can't forget her. When fate pushes them together again it's Game On! He works hard using all his charm to get her to go out with him and turn their fun time into something she doesn't think she can handle anymore.

Hard truths and secrets hit home for the both of them. A huge test to how much he loves her and if he can handle what lays ahead is thrown at his feet. Pepper needs to find out if she can be that person Sawyer claims he can see. After reading the first two books and getting to know these two characters this book is so much deeper. It makes your chest ache. It can be read alone and be OK, but If you want it to grip you and make you feel how much pain Sawyer is in, how hard all this is on Pepper you NEED to read the first two. K. Larsen has weaved such an amazing story about these characters that they have become real. Her writing doesn't stall or make you wonder what the heck you just read. It is clear and the story, the heart break and pain, the fear and distress are all believable. I would recommend not only this book but the whole series to anyone who loves a good read.

This is a contemporary-romantic-suspense book, the third book in The Bloodlines Series. This can be read as a stand alone, but I advise reading the first two books, this does pick up from the previous book Objective. K. Larsen supplies enough details you will understand the story, either way. I recommend this book for adults only. After reading the first two books I was anxious to see where life takes Sawyer and this story is all about him, his journey, from his point of view. Awesome... there is no other word for this story. I was addicted at "I adjust myself..." you are so cruel K... cruel I say. Pepper, is one fortunate girl, but she deserves it. I can not wait to find out what comes next. And I must add this book supports not drinking and driving. Thanks K.

This is Sawyers highly awaited story. Sawyer is the owner of Bloodlines Tattoo Parlor, daddy to Allie, with a stamp on his forehead... broken women please apply. He is trying desperately to stay away from turmoil. Somehow it seems to follow him. People change, relationships change, sometimes there is nothing you can do to stop it. Clara, she was his best friend, his lover, and the mother to the child he is helping raise. All those years down the drain, she up and left him, broken and alone. Well she got the happily ever after, something he wants, no deserves, the only problem is he wants her. A night of pleasure could be what he needs, maybe. Sawyer is in for a surprise the day Pepper Phillips brings him to his knees. Can she be the one to help him to get over Clara? Or is she everything he is trying so hard to stay away from?

favorite passages:
"Good Lord, this woman is going to kill me."
"I wish it was me whom made her look like that, feel like that, but it's not and I've accepted that... kind of."
"The whole day is poison to my soul." <3
"I am the motherfu*king king of the world right now."
"She's bossy. I like it."
"She's so broken."
"My mom says I'm full of sass."
"Ah I see. Mommy porn," I retorted.
"I am doing the biggest fist pump ever on the inside right now."
"I've been cockblocked, turned on, shot down, and offended by someone who's supposed to be a friend."
"I know and she can sense that I'm about to call bullsh*t."
"It doesn't change your soul."
"Tell me a truth," I say quietly as I bring her hand up to my mouth and gently kiss the inside of her wrist."
"You are the lightness to my dark."
"Dancing. Now, shh, don't be a moment ruiner."
"My heart, that mass of scarred tissue, beats." <3
"Lucky is an understatement. What he's given me, it is more than luck."

“The heart wants what it wants right? Or maybe the mind wants what it wants for the heart.” What Sawyer’s heart wants, what Sawyer wants……is Pepper. “This girl will kill me. I know it. She’s a death wish. I want her. Here. Now.” “Her smile could make a smart man stupid”
Penny for your thoughts……..I think your heart will break for Sawyer, you will feel his sadness, his happiness, his ups, his downs, his desires, and ultimately you will fall in love with him.
Penny for your thoughts……I think Sawyer is completely attracted to broken women. The more broken they are, the bigger the challenge. And what a challenge he’s in for when he walks into that bar, takes a seat, and Pepper asks “truth or lie?”
Penny for your thoughts……..I think my heart is still shattered from Objective, that story crushed me, devastated me, and although I was really hoping for a certain someone to be the one who walked into that bar, I’m happy it turned out to be Sawyer.
Penny for your thoughts……I think Sawyer’s words will melt your heart ….”Love is a simple thing really. It’s not in the gifts or the money spent. Sometimes it’s not even in the time spent. It’s something that happens in the “in between” moments. The space between minutes. The space between music notes. Love is having all the little things.”……and with every word spoken, you simply fall deeper in love with him.
Penny for your thoughts….. I think when Sawyer falls in love, he falls hard and with a fierceness that consumes you and radiates off the pages…a love you feel…….”She has a grip on me so powerful that one glance from her and I would do anything she asked.”
Penny for your thoughts……I think you will enjoy the Bloodlines series, the intensity in which the characters were brought to life, and how flawlessly their stories intertwine. It’s one hell of a ride…that I promise.

I absolutely love K. Larsen and her books! She is amazing and thorough when it comes to her style of writing. You will be sucked in from the get go and there is no use in trying to resist.

I did find, however, that this book isn't as jaw dropping as her other reads. There is less action and less drama,in my opinion. But then again we have learned a lot from the previous books and so much has already unfolded already. What it has more of though, is a romantic side of things. After we were emotionally gutted from book #2 in Bloodlines this book is almost a beacon of hope for Mags, now known as Pepper, as she goes through the internal struggle of forgiveness & acceptance with the help of a man named Sawyer. I must say I freaking swooned over this man HARD. You absolutely feel his own despair when it comes to intimacy and love. The two are more alike than we think but Pepper has deep wounds that Sawyer simply does not understand but is willing to wait for all to be revealed. The sexual tension in this book is HOT and if Pepper wasn't going to get on that I swear if I could of jumped into my ereader to take her place I would of!

There is also a deep emotional message and a lot of character growth with Pepper. I really felt for this girl and for all she has been through. To relive and come to terms with all that you have been running from is not an easy task. I had to run to get some tissues on more than one occasion.

I highly suggest if you haven't read the Bloodline series that you start now. Get the tissues, find a quiet corner and get ready for one of the most wild, thrilling, emotional reads in your life!

Sawyer, Sawyer, Sawyer what can I say. I didn't know what to expect from Sawyer after the whole Clara disaster. I knew I wanted him to have a happy ending because he deserved it. Don't kill me if this review is short or rambly...I had surgery on my hand and Im on pain meds.

I read Objective what seems like forever ago, I loved Magnolia/Pepper. Her story was awesome. I was thrilled with these two characters coming together. It makes sense. As I started this journey I wasn't as sucked in as the first two but I know K. Larsen had to have something up her sleeve because If you have read anything she's written you would understand. Sawyer is still being moody and kind of an ass, I mean after the whole Clara thing I could see why. I love that his love for Allie never wavered and was always there for her rain or shine.

Allie, gah I love that little girl. She just makes the story. Her wit and sassiness were perfect. Clara, well at first she was gettig on my nerves because she was being an asshole to Pepper and Sawyer.

Pepper, this girl, like I said I loved her book and in this book there were times I wanted to smack her but I completely understood why. I love her banter with Sawyer. It takes sometime for these two to see what is in front of them but damn when they figure it out....AWESOME!

My only thing is this, the author says these can be read as stand alones but I truly feel like you need to at least read Objective first. Why? Well there are things that confused even me and I had read Objective, granted a while ago but still. I feel like if someone just picks up this one they might feel a bit lost. Other than that I feel that K. Larsen once again has shown that she can write a great story. One full of love, angst, excitement and swoon.

Book 3 in the Bloodlines series lived up to my expectations. I was waiting on Sawyers story since book 1, and after meeting "Pepper" in book 2, I knew they would be perfect for one another.
Sawyer, trying to get over his heart being broken, meets Pepper in a bar when she asks "Truth or Lie?" Pepper is willing, and wants, to give Sawyer one night. That is all she will give any man. At first Sawyer is not interested, but quickly is caught up in her and sees her a little differently.
The two of them have a hot time together, and Sawyer feels he is not done with her, and needs more. Pepper, dresses and leaves him like it meant nothing. Atleast that is the impression he gets. Pepper was in fact affected as much as he was, only she can not give in to it.
Pepper living the life she is, in witness protection, can never be involved in a relationship. Not only would it be based on lies, but it is not safe for anyone to be with her, and besides, she already met, and lost her soul mate, she could never possibly love again. Right?
When they see each other again, he works hard to make Pepper see how could they can be together. As much fun as they have, she still fights it. When the truth comes out, will it be too much for Sawyer, or can they overcome all of it and find their happy ever after?
I gave this book 5 stars. I love how the author has built up the characters in her book and brought them all together. This story was so real for me. Laughs, tears, hurt and anger all rolled up into one amazing read.

I'm a big fan of the "Bloodline" series by K. Larsen. Resistance lived up to my expectations and I throughly enjoyed reading this book.
The story follows Sawyer. He owns Bloodlines tattoo parlour. Sawyer doesn't do relationship, and hates drama in his life. He some how seems to attract "broken women" that he doesn't have the patience to deal with.
Sawyer has been having a " casual" relationship with his friend Clara for years. Their best friends with benefits, Sawyer loves how their lives are integrated and it diesnt bother him that everyone thinks they are married. Clara however breaks away from Sawyer very suddenly leaving him lost, confused and not knowing how to move on from her and their "casual" relationship that he was secure in.
Sawyer ends up having a one night stand and it changes his life forever.
I loved Sawyer. His character was amazingly written and developed. He was a bad/good boy that was different than most "bad boys" you read about. He was very likeable and hot and all the way through the book I just really wanted things to work out for him.
The pull between Sawyer and his number one girl was very good to read about.
The way K.Larsen wrote the book really pulled you in and felt like you was living your life along side them. The story keep me interested all the way throughout and I read it in one sitting.
Overall the book was wrote very well,. The characters were very likeable and the story wasn't just "another" romance book.
Great job.

While this book can be considered a stand-alone, if you read the two previous books, Tug of War and Objective, you should be very happy with the characters featured. At least I was. Because this book features two people that never got their HEA and total deserve one.

My heart hurt for Sawyer in Tug of War. While his physical description makes me think of a bad ass, his character is all heart. He loves freely and he loves hard. Although not her actual Dad, he treats Allie as if she is his own. He's the model father every kid should have. And it's taken him time to recover from the heartache Clara caused in moving on.

This book is primarily told from Sawyer's POV. I absolutely loved his inner monologue. He's a bit of a goof and I LOL'd at some of the moments his berates his own behavior. And I was eager for him to find a woman that would love him as hard. Who would guess that the emotional distant and broken Pepper (Mags from Objective) would be the game changer.

As the title suggests, Pepper is resistance to the kind of relationship Sawyer wants. But he worms his way into her world and makes it hard for her to ignore.

Oddly enough, it is Clara who helps Pepper repair her broken self. I loved that this part wasn't rushed and that Pepper forced on getting herself right before committing to Sawyer. I also liked how Sawyer found an outlet for himself with an MC club.

This book tells a great story about how two people deal with heartache and how they move on, and finally get the peace and HEA they have been chasing all along.

So who else was devistated at the end of Bloodlines Book 2? And more curious than even to see how things go for Mags now known as Pepper. But even more than her we always wanted to see awsome and amazing Sawyer get his happily ever after.

Sawyer is in a dark place after losing Clara and he's not sure how to get out of his funk. He's happy she's happy and of course he still has Allie, but he wanted what Dom now has. Until a mysterious funky chick actually peaks his interest one night in a bar, and then she disappears.

This is Sawyers journey to happiness and it's not all sunshine and roses. He's dark and broody after the pain from losing Clara, but inside he's still the amazing great guy we fell in love with in book 1 of this series.

While this is told solely from Sawyers POV through him you see all the pain and anguish Pepper is still going through from her ordeal even if he doesn't know what happened to her.

Seeing these two not quite broken but maybe bent souls find each other and heal each other is quite the journey. After everything they have both been through all we wanted was to see them find their happiness and this is their story in doing just that.

Another great addition to this series and I can wait to read more.

Sawyer liked to fix women, or at least that was the case with Clara, and something he didn't want to continue to do. She shattered him when she chose Dominic. But he's over it, mostly, or so he tells himself. And then he meets Pepper. Pepper is so damaged that he doesn't think he'll ever be able to get her to let him in. But Sawyer is patient, so very patient. He allows Pepper to heal, but he's there, pushing and making sure she knows that he's there. Gawd I love Sawyer.

And as usual, Ms. Larsen doesn't disappoint. The story takes over where Objective left off. We get caught up on Clara and Dominic, completing their HEA. And Allie, that child... She's precocious, and I adore her. I'm hoping we get more Allie in Target84.

Overall, this series has been one of my favorite reads. There is danger and excitement. There are strong, well written characters. These characters will stay with you long after the story is finished. There isn't a weak link in this series either. Each book is as good as the next. I am just thankful that this one didn't gut me, as Objective did. Well done Ms. Larsen!

I was so excited to finally get sawyer's story ... I happily dived in and wow it just drawn me in and kept me wanting more as I devoured it within hours....
As finally after book one left me wondering about sawyer and his future
And book two left me wondering about peppers new life
I finally got all the answers in this third instalment to the bloodline series and of course i got more of Clara and Dom and alliecat.
This book took me on a emotional roller coaster as both Sawyer and Pepper have to battle their own demons to ensure a healthy bright future is achieved and it was no easy journey as they battle themselves and each other.... I don't want to give spoilers away but I simply adored it all and Sawyer is swoon worthy and loveable and Pepper you just want to hug tight ....
This may be the third book in a series but can easily be read as a stand alone but then you would be missing out on two great books which came before....
I can not wait for the finally instalment in series to land on my kindle .... I need Greta and Bentley's story now.

So this is a broken love story, the kind that I like. This book is a stand alone in the Bloodlines series, but if I could I would urge you to read Objective first. It is my Favorite of the series and gives you important background to this book. I fell in love with Sawyer in Tug of War and this is his story, but it's so much more. This is a slow burn love story. There is not instant gratification. They have to work very hard to get to where they end up. I enjoyed this book, there is a little for everyone in this book. You will chuckle and swoon. The attraction between Pepper and Sawyer was instant and the road to the end is filled with roadblocks, namely Pepper herself. At times it's frustrating, but so is real life. Thank you Katie for continuing this series and I can't wait to read Target 84.

Sawyer isn't in a good place since he lost Clara to someone else. Even though he never truly had her, he is devastated. He is happy that she has her happily ever after but that doesn't stop him from wanting that for himself. He is on a downward spiral when he meets Pepper. A one night stand that turns into so much more.

This is the first book in the Bloodlines series that I have read but I will definitely be going back to read the first 2! This can be read as a stand alone novel, obviously because I did! :) I really enjoyed this book and the characters. I fell in love with Sawyer! K. Larsen did a great job drawing you in and making you feel the emotion from the characters. Can't wait to read the first 2...and the next! :)

So the first and second books were just OK for me and I almost didn't read this one, but I just had this feeling that I should just stick to it and well, my gut was right. I devoured this in one sitting! It had me hooked from the very beginning.
I feel like K. Larsen stepped her game up with this book. The writing and the story telling was just so good. I feel like she def made up for all the anger and irritation I felt for the last two books. The stories in each book get better and better and I think this one was definitely the BEST in the series. I guess that saying 'third time's a charm' is really true!
LOVED Sawyer, loved Pepper and I loved this book!

This story is a great addition to the Bloodlines series. I especially enjoyed that it was told to us from Sawyer's prospective. He has a tendency to fall for woman that need a lot of fixing up and are closed off emotionally in one way or another. Despite that Sawyer is able to find someone who is capable of standing strong and realizing she needs to fix herself before she can commit to anyone.

What I love most about Miss Larsen's writing is the way she draws you into the story. You become so connected to the characters and their struggles, really hoping they succeed. I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!

I am honored to have been a BETA reader for this book. Sawyer is incredible. I cannot wait for you all to read his story. Our favorite characters from both Tug of War and Objective are throughout Sawyer's story. You will love it! There are some HOT moments, some heart stopping moments and some "Oh my, what?" moments. The pull between Sawyer and his number one girl is infectious. He really shows his true colors in this story.
Wonderful job miss Katie! I cannot wait for the final product to come together. <3

After the way Objective ended I was a bit 'flat'. I couldn't get over that was how Magnolia ended. But I did wonder if that mystery guy at the bar was Sawyer. Low and behold my thoughts were right and thus started Resistance. Knowing Mags/Pepper's story already really helped. I really liked Sawyer too in the first book with Clara so it was nice to read more about him.

In honesty though this fell a bit flat for me.Yes there was that chemistry and bond between Sawyer and Pepper that grew throughout the book. Pepper healed and grew stronger and the course of the story was good. But if I'm honest the 'dramatic' scenes we had in the previous 2 books weren't there and I hardly call the whole Ezra thing a climax. That wasn't really even a thing and it was very, blah. This book felt more like a romance and less like the other two and I'd grown accustomed to certain things in this series from K Larsen. It wouldn't put me off reading book #4 in the Bloodlines set, but this for me just didn't hit the mark as much. 3 stars I'm afraid.
