I swear to God the guy had barely 40 dialogues. Everything else happened inside her head.
The book was nice, but I didn't enjoy it one bit.
It was confusing, nothing made sense. The sex scenes were not even steamy. This book was not at all capturing. I was like o.O where is this book going?
I liked the start, then a little in the middle.
Emma's head was pissing me off.. I mean.. I couldn't even make out what was happening where and when. Some parts were outright stupid which had me all -.-'
The dreams? SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN.
The PLAN which she kept going on about? WTF? Didn't understand crap.
ALL the stupid talks inside her head? SOMEONE SHOOT ME PLEASE.
Lie? What the fuck woman? I need to teach you what lying is now HA?

FIVE 'EVERYTHING' STARS.
I'm trying to sum up thoughts adequate enough for my exuberant feelings towards this playful but well thought out novel, having said that I don't really need to say much more than I adored every second of my reading time spent with this book and I feel positively impatient that I am unable to get my hands on any other published books by Qwen Salsbury. If you can handle yet another gushing review by yours truly then read on, here are the rest of my 'The plan' book thoughts ...
What's it all about?
Emma Baker has a story to tell, she has a plan, she must succeed. Everyday she studies her elusive and so-handsome-he-is-a-distraction boss, Alaric Tundra. He is so unattainable it's becoming an obsession with no reward. Alaric is stern, demanding and quite frankly nothing short of an arsehole, but Emma can't help but be drawn to him and all his terrifying ways. This unrequited attraction equates to an ongoing, comical, one-sided infatuation for our dear Emma, but she has a plan, canon will not know what has hit him. Follow the inner workings of Emma Baker in this hilarious romantic soirée. Qwen Salsbury I'm looking out for you and your future books, I have my own 'plan'.
What did I love?
I'll say from the outset that this is a book that won't work for all, you'll need to be able to immerse yourself in a storyline and writing style that is different from the norm. After i'd settled into the differences that this author has to offer, quite simply I couldn't get enough. Where has this author been all my life? This book had the 'I-don't-want-to-put-you-down-until-I'm-finished-with-you' quality written all over it. I could not stop smiling as I read this book. Beautifully Wordy, insanely comical, my-heart-is doing-funny-things-in-my-chest-because-I'm-falling-in-love style romance, hot to the touch sexy, wonderfully quirky, comforting but at the same time original, passionately passionate, it was so addictive I never wanted the story to end. And if all that isn't enough there was an astonishingly likeable heroine and an arsehole hero that I fell completely in lust with. I can't wait to see what this author does next but until then I already want to jump back in straight away and re-read my favourite bits. Bravo, Qwen Salsbury, bravo you have created a novel that is massively unforgettable.

If you are looking for a novel that is unique, über creative, read-worthy comical, heart-in-mouth-steamy-dreamy and squeeze-your-loved-one-style-romantic then in my opinion you do not need to look any further. Everything about this book worked for me, the characters, the writing style and it's never seen by me before quick wit. I'd love for other readers to enjoy this book as much as I did, so don't delay go and grab it. Enjoy ... Kisses.

5 STARS!!! OR 9/10!!!!
This story line has been done before. I KNOW.
There is nothing new here. I KNOW.
You can even say it's predictably predictable. I SO KNOW.
But, oh my God, I LOVED THIS! Despite all the cliches and been-there-done-that moments, I truly loved this. I tend to love, love stories where the heroine is hopelessly enamoured by a man that doesn't notice her. A man that might even treat her unkindly. That angst from being invisible, unnoticeable, irrelevant....then to turn around and realize that the man you thought didn't know you existed....ACTUALLY DID....AND SUFFERS ALL THE MORE FOR IT.
And maybe, possibly...CARED FOR YOU JUST AS MUCH....KARMA.
Why I love those kind of stories? They're relatable to a point. Anyone can remember an experience of unrequited love, can remember liking someone who didn't know you, didn't notice you. I love the angst because the heroine just wants an opportunity, a chance to be a blip on the Hero's radar.
Emma was such a heroine and I really liked her. Working in a company and admiring the boss, Alaric Canon, has been Emma's plight for a year now. She sits outside his office in her cubicle and dreams of the day he notices her, looks her way. She tries and attempts to run into him accidentally, be conveniently around when he exits his office, show up early for work so he can finally notice the only freakin person standing in the hall!
But no, Alaric doesn't see Emma, walks by without so much as a glance. OR DOES HE?
FAVOURITE LINE: Clara, Emma's bestie upon meeting Alaric and noticing him snub Emma: " Ooo la la papa Ooo mawh mawh, Emma," Clara teases. " You can sure pick 'em. He is gorgeous, and, oh so very proper," she says, puffing her chest and tucking her chin in, " and stodgy." She marches mechanically drops her voice low. " Very good job indeed, I dare say. Indubitably. Say, could you be a brilliant chap and help me to extract this board from betwixt my bum cheeks?"
SERIOUSLY, I THINK I ALMOST PEED MYSELF. EACH TIME I READ THAT!!!
This story was so good and so funny! The prose was also different and Sharp. Emma's office has a running bet over how long personal assistants can last working for Alaric. He's an asshole extraordinaire, making people cry and demanding near impossible feats of perfection. His PA's often last under a week, some a few hours, but through a stroke of fate, Emma is asked to step into the PA position. The company is about to negotiate a lucrative deal, and with Emma's expertise and thorough knowledge of what Alaric expects, she's ushered into the role that will change her life. She's always had a plan, is this the ultimate opportunity to exercise it?
There were times I couldn't believe the nastiness coming from Alaric! But slowly we see that maybe he's using his abrasiveness as a shield. Maybe he's just as affected by Emma as she is. With him. And slowly I begin to love this man and his words.
The writing was very smart and witty. I was laughing, then tearing up....this was so good. The sexy time was written differently and I have to say, it was very hot and steamy, and better than traditional sexy time writing. Doesn't make sense but you'll understand if you read this.
The ending was very sweet and sexy, I loved everything! And since this is a standalone, I finished with a huge smile on my face. This story may not be new, it may not be groundbreaking, but it doesn't have to be. It spoke to me and made me feel exactly how books should: HAPPY!

Solid 4...Maybe 4.5--LMAO--Stars!!!
Seems people either love this one or hate it...
I thought this was quirky. Fun. Funny. Weird. Different. Entertaining. Sexy in a weird sort of way.
Day of Employment: 1:
It's Emma's first day on the job. She's packed in the elevator like a sardine. Shmushed against the back in front of a man. She grazes his thigh. He whispers in her ear.
Day of Employment: 359
Bets are being placed for Mr. Canon's latest PA. How many days will she last with the elustrious Alaric Canon? For the last year Emma haswatched, studied, examined, stalked Alaric Canon. One might say she's obssessed. Waiting for him to notice her. Dreaming of them being together.
Emma doesn't appear to even be a blip on Alaric's radar. He makes no eye contact, he avoids her at all costs, it's as if he despises her. Or does he?? They've never even said one word to each other in the entire year Emma has worked there.
Day of Employment: 367
Emma becomes Alaric's new PA.
Life as you knew it Emma is OVER. Alaric is demanding. He's particular. He expects nothing less than the absolute best. No mistakes.
Emma was smart and sarcastic and I loved her. As much of an asshole as Alaric was, I couldn't stop laughing. Emma had the patience of a freaking saint. I would have been like

All plans go out the window. The turning point. The defining moment. The BJ...yep, B as in Blow and J as in job.

It's true, Alaric barely said anything the whole book. He's definitely a man of few words. And most of the story was Emma's internal thoughts but I didn't find it annoying like most internal dialogue.

Where does this leave Alaric and Emma? Is it possible Alaric had noticed Emma?
If you're looking for something different and fun and funny, then I definitely recommend this one. You can't take it too seriously. I can see where people might be turned off by the writing style so I recommend trying a sample before buying.
It kind of reminded me of Beautiful Bastard...same kind of premise. It worked for me.

The Plan is one of those books I saw all kinds of five star reviews for and was super excited to read. I’m sad to say it missed that mark for me. There were parts I enjoyed, but this was just okay for this reader.
Emma Baker has a thing for her boss. Well, maybe not a thing, but she notices him, observes him, and is attracted to him. He never seems to notice her. Alaric Canon is the kind of boss that goes through a few assistants a week. He’s focused on only work and he doesn’t tolerate any mistakes. Emma has worked at her company for about a year. Alaric has never noticed her, never spoken to her. That is all about to change.
Emma gets talked into going on a business trip with Alaric. They are forced to interact. She tries not to let her attraction get in the way of her job, but Alaric is something else. Human Nutella. That may be the single best line in the book ;)
At first Emma doesn’t see it, but the more time she spends with Alaric, she see’s that the attraction is mutual.
Even though Alaric can be a huge jerk, he has feelings. I actually really started to like the guy by the end of the book. When it comes to jobs, relationships, sex, and love- what lines will be crossed? Will things go according to Emma’s plan?
What worked for me- I was happy with the amount of steam we got in the last half of the book. I liked both of the main characters, I just didn’t connect to them until later in the book. I enjoy office romances, even though it wasn’t the most original concept, the story itself was entertaining.
What didn’t- The writing style did not work for me. It wasn’t that the writing was bad, it just seemed broken and choppy at times. I found myself unable to get fully engrossed in the story. As soon as I would start getting into a scene, I would have to re-read a few lines for it to make sense to me. It threw me off.
This book appears to be one that many love and many don’t care for. I seem to have fallen right in the middle. I see so many great 5 star reviews out there, it may be a case of it’s just me, or I wasn't in the right mood to read it. This is just one readers opinion. If office romances are your thing and it seems like something you’d like- give it a go! You may love it!

Canon sighs in response. Tilts his head further. Warmth, wetness skim across my lips. Brush against the edges of my tongue. Urge to taste. Fully. Overwhelmed. Slide further. Tilt. Completely experience whatever part of him he’s willing to share with me.One other thing was the humor. There were a few funny parts, but I was expecting that laugh out loud humor and I didn't get it.

4 Blip Stars
The writing in this story is a bit different and took a couple of pages to get the hang of it. However, I really enjoyed the story overall. Emma Baker is HILARIOUS and the author delivered the funny for me.
There is an office pool of how long Mr. Canon's PA will last and Emma has been winning big time. She has been watching Mr. Canon from her cubicle and is taken with his fine ass and hottness but on in the negative category he doesn't know she exists and is a tyrant in the office.
"Fun. I sincerely doubt he did any such thing. A vision of Canon wearing Mickey Mouse ears and holding balloons pops into my head."
Emma finds herself pushed into the PA position and the humor and chemistry gets amped up.
Emma worries that her Stepford Secretary routine and accomodating fascade that has snared Mr. Canon will fall apart when she acts like herself. (I think this was what was happening, because I kinda got lost at this part. She seemed stuck in her head and the quiet Mr. Cannon became an open book.)
"This is not me, I'm not what you think I am."
"If you still think we shouldn't see each other, then we'd better close our eyes. I'm not going anywhere."
I love the television show The Office and in someways this had that feel for me. The humor was well done, the rommance got confusing but the author got back on track and delivered a very good ending.
"This has the potential to be just that; the first of forever."

The Plan is very entertaining book. I enjoy sarcastic banters and humorous thoughts and this book is full of those.
The Plan is written in very intriguing diary-like style of writing. I devoured it in one sitting and it is always a good sign. So what I liked the most about this book?
*I enjoy greatly stories about H/h who kind of hate each others guts and fight a lot at the beginning. It always make their "getting together" much hotter. Alaric and Emma definitely fit into this cathegory.
*Heroine always overthought everything. Maybe some readers would find it annoying but I could definitely symphatize. I am the same and you could say I "clicked" with Emma immediately. She was very entertaining narrator of this book.
*I really liked feelings this book evoked in me while reading it. Anticipation, excitement, anxiety, entertainment. It is always a big plus when story is able to make me feel something.
Humour is a volatile concept. What one person sees as funny, other person may found lame. For me, The Plan contains all atributes of entertaining and light story and I enjoyed reading it.

Whitty. Sarcastic. Real.
The writing style was just so refreshing & relatively unique. Yes, at times it felt very sporadic, even somewhat spastic … but damn … this is exactly how my own mind operates most of the time! I felt so tuned in to Emma - loved her thoughts. It was like watching an Italian soap opera on speed. Crazy! And fucking funny as hell!
Felt like it was going to become a complete train wreck at a couple of points … and then it all just folded back in on itself and became this wonderful, fun, yet somehow very touching story … like a goddamned fairytale.
Needless to say that my verdict on this book is very favorable. It certainly won’t be for everyone. There are no long bouts of dialogue … in fact there is very little dialogue in the entire book. It reads more like an internal monologue. It is near impossible to determine what the other characters in the book are thinking or feeling unless made obvious by actions or words … but I really enjoyed that - it gave me a sense of being more connected to Emma - I was experiencing things at the same time & in the same way as her. It is mildly angsty, but in a grown-up kind of way. And the sex … well … some will likely find it less than adequate … the descriptive is … different … to me - a bit like poetry … fragmented and urgent, with moments of reflection and need … just like, hmmmm - sex maybe?
Is it good enough to make it to my best-of-the-best shelf? Hmmmm …
Yes! I really loved my time spent with this book!

I have never ventured to the coffee machine this often before. We're forming a bond. We may have to be introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Coffee at this weekend's holiday party. Alternative Dispute Resolution class last night coupled with two final take-home exam briefs due tomorrow have Nosferatued the life from me.

4 “My Boss is Hot” Stars!
Alaric is the boss no one wants to have: he is completely ruthless, exigent and doesn’t have time for mistakes. If you do not succeed at first, you’re out. The rest of the office even have a betting pool of how many time the next PA will last. Usually not very long.
This is basically him in a nutshell:
Everyone is kind of afraid of him. Well, everyone except Emma.
Alaric is hot-as-all-hell and she has a thing for him. But that’s the thing, he never noticed her. And anyone else for that matter.
When destiny does one of its own, and she end up being is PA she will work for him with a plan: a plan that will finally make him notice her. And she will find out that maybe, just maybe, he’s already noticed her as well.
But that’s the thing, now she is the new PA and she is the red zone. And is not fun at all, when this time, you’re the person inside the pool.
Rating: 4 Stars.
Storyline: Funny and addictive. It was in a way unpredictable and delightfully to read. For when you need a pick-me-up romance.
Writing Style: The writing was a little unusual and you’ll probably have a hard time adjusting to it. I know I had. It has a LOT of one-worded sentences and the descriptions and expressions used are somewhat strange. But once you get past that, it’s a completely addictive story and extremely well developed.
Character Development: Both of them are really good and I loved the alpha personality of Alaric (who would thought?), even being a man of a few words. Emma was very good as well, being inside her brain was awesome and her quirkiness was one the best parts of the book.
Steam: Heated.

I was so close to DNF-ing but I wanted to know how it would end, if it would at least get better - it didn't - so I resorted to skimming through practically half of the book.
So I liked the premise. Office romance. Asshole boss. Snarky employee. I even liked how it was written, sort of. I mean I get how it was supposed to read like a prose but I didn't quite get it. I usually love smart and witty books but this sounded too highfalutin that it just felt flat and forced. Really disappointing.
Also, I really, really don't get how someone who acted like a big douche would actually be that unmanly in bed?! It was the weirdest thing. Unbelievable. I did, however, kind of like Emma because she was sarcastic and I thought she was going to be a winner, but no, she lost me somewhere in all the skimming that I did.
Oh and about her "plan", that part of the plot was so half-assed and lame that I'm not even sure how and why everything happened the way it did. OK, so maybe it's my own fault for skimming.

So. yea. do you ever read a book because your friend just thought it was the best thing since sliced bread? and then you read it & it isn't.
I read the first 4% and texted my girlfriend "Storytime me. I am at 4% and I have no clue what's going on". I couldn't even tell if the female mc was an employee or intern. Then I skipped 15% hoping it would get better.
There was a funny part. 35% the book started getting better. and I kept reading waiting for the good. waiting for the best. nope. never came.
Well - you know what they say. Not every book is for everyone. This book was so not for me.
Moving to the next one.

DNF @ 12%
Probably my earliest DNF ever.
What was my problem? It was one big massive one; the inner-monologue. It felt similar to Bridget Jones' Diary, it has the middle class feel, the crazy ramblings and visions and the flitting from one idea to the next. Most of the paragraphs were incredibly short, which also indicates the fact that her thoughts jumped from one thing to another. Oh and the Hero's name? 'Alaric Canon'???
Sorry for those of you who I can see are enjoying/enjoyed the book, I just really can't get on with this writing, where some of you are loving it.
The book (or what I read of it) was filled full of quotes like these:
Weird analogies.
'I made sure I was as scarce as intact hymen the morning after prom.'
Overloaded sentences.
'Beside the coffee pot, a collection jar of shiny silver and an inordinate amount of patina tinged copper catches my eye.'
Thesaurus-ed the shit out of.
'There is no replicant technology that affords androids procreation.'
'One might also think that a person such as myself who has manage to get up every day and leave the house fully and appropriately attired for multiple decades could be entrusted to accomplish the task of achieving said state of being clothed.'
Wait... What??? (Re-read)
'There is no point in pointing out the ludicrousness of most of Clara's asides. If it were my job, my 401(k) would be fully vested. Further, my personage has not, at any point in my longer-than-I-care-to-admit existence, been either fine nor feathered. I may have, however, recently allowed Canon to make me cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.'
I thought it was me, a friend started this book the same time as myself, and no, it wasn't. If you can put up with these sentences, I’m sure there's a good love story under it (prologue was intriguing), but I just couldn't read that.

This one is more of a chicklit than a romance. The writing style reminds me of Sophie Kinsella, which might annoy some readers. The heroine spent most of the time having quirky inner thoughts, plenty of funny internal monologue, witty one liner and the hero was a complete mysterious enigma.
Told in a form of Emma's journal, she recounted her daily life working in the same department as Alaric Canon, the huge jerk that she had a crush on for a year. Apparently, he was so demanding and such a perfectionist that he fired his PA almost daily, weekly or monthly. There was even a betting around for how long each new PA will last. Emma was on a winning streak due to her understanding and stalkerish behavior towards the man.
I had no idea why the title called 'The Plan'. Emma kept mentioning her 'plan' to get Alaric to notice her, but I didn't see any 'plan' at all. First half of the book was dedicated to Emma's interaction with her colleagues and her roommate, Clara. I'm beginning to think this might be another PG chicklit.
Things finally got interesting at the second half when Emma was forced to be Alaric's temp PA and accompany him for a business trip. This was also when our dear hero finally have some dialog. But he was still as mysterious as ever and I'm wondering why he was such an asshole to everyone. Unfortunately, being at close quarter and treated like a slave didn't make Emma desire him any less.
Alaric Canon was the kind of hot boss that you wanted to ogle at daily. He was very stoic, proper and uptight. It was rumor that he make a grown man cried. Scary stuff. However, the way he behave in front of Emma left me thinking what he really thought of her. There was one scene when he basically freaked out when Emma appeared at his doorstep in a sexy nightie after he summoned her.
Here I thought this might be PG, but suddenly we were treated to some really sexy time between these two. But I have a problem with the sex scene. I'm so used to reading erotica that all the play by play details can be easily imagined by the readers. But here I have problem following the scenes. There were times I wondered 'are they naked yet?' and 'are they still standing or laying down?'. Bottom line is, it was hard to follow and picturing it. Anyway, it was hot regardless, and maybe that's all I should care about.
I'm dying to know more about Alaric, but it seems like his background story was just mentioned in a passing. Apparently, Emma didn't know him as well as she thought she did. The guy might just surprised you. When it ended, I hope it was longer and let us see how their relationship will work out in the office. Lastly, I think it was a really fun and sexy read if you are into the chicklit genre.

Ok, ok…where to start…because I loved…no wait…I floved, FLOVED this book from start to finish.
Normally, I start out with the guy because let’s just be honest…the guy is EVERYTHING. I promise I’ll get to him in just a minute but first I have to talk about the way this book is written. It’s quite unique in a really awesome way, but its also hard to explain the awesomeness. It’s one of those things that you really need to experience to understand. Part of it reads like entries in a diary, and then you’re inside Emma’s head which can be a hilarious place to be. Seriously, I did a ton of laughing and smiling while reading this book.

Stars to give: 4.5
You just never know what you are getting into when handed an ARC from a “new to you” author. Let me say, I was a bit worried with the first person POV in the beginning. It took me a minute to get use to the “report style” cadence of Emma’s inner mind. Have no fear it flows once you get into in.
I had many laugh out loud moments and would somewhat compare it to authors like Emma Chase, Christine Lauren and Alice Clayton. It’s that fun, quick-wit kind of humor. Office hjinks and love-from-afar longing makes Emma a likable character.
Emma and Canon made for a great team. Even with Emma’s plan to change who she was to get his attention her real self just came shinning through.
We never delve into the mind of Canon. But I like it that way. What I found so enjoyable with him was the total in control attitude he had everywhere, from the board room, to the wait staff, and beyond. When Emma finally cornered him in the bedroom, though, she was the one seemingly in control. It came as a revelation to me, a “hold on a sec” light bulb moment. It is a nice change for pace guys and I loved it.
There is so much to like here and I hope readers give it a chance, because when I closed the book I had a big grin on my face.

I need more stars for this one.
I want to be this character's friend - she's witty, clever, funny and snarky. If she won't have me as a friend I definitely need to work in her office. She lusts after her boss, tracking his little habits like you would a wild animal and observes everything.
The diary writing style was so fresh and original, quite like nothing else I've read.
What I really liked though was once they got all down and dirty, that original style continued. It was such a joy to read sex scenes that didn't trot out all the tired old phrases I've read far more times than is healthy. The love story part still managed to be sweet, tender and plausible. I didn't want this to end.
Absolutely bloody brilliant read. I can't recommend this one highly enough.
I want to be this character's friend - she's witty, clever, funny and snarky. If she won't have me as a friend I definitely need to work in her office. She lusts after her boss, tracking his little habits like you would a wild animal and observes everything.
The diary writing style was so fresh and original, quite like nothing else I've read.
What I really liked though was once they got all down and dirty, that original style continued. It was such a joy to read sex scenes that didn't trot out all the tired old phrases I've read far more times than is healthy. The love story part still managed to be sweet, tender and plausible. I didn't want this to end.

Okay, so to sum it up this book is about a girl - Emma, who is working in some company that had a huge crush on her boss. But the boss is a bastard that never even notice that she exists. The boss is a freak perfectionist person that not allow any kind of mistake, even the smallest one. This makes everybody hates him but not to Emma. For some reasons this what makes her more curious about him. Emma has plans to make her being noticed by him. And in the end he did notice her and
I've been trying so hard to enjoy this book. I even almost DNF-ed it but I kept reading because I wanted to know about the ending and was hoping that maybe the ending can make me rate this book higher. BUT too bad, no, even until the end of the page this book failed to amaze me!

1. The hero is the worst kind of hero.
I know just by reading the blurb that Mr. Canon is an asshole boss. But didn't expect that he'd be that fucking annoying. I didn't even think that he's actually a human. He really is heartless bastard! Honestly even Edward Cullen the vampire is more human than him!
But this is the ironic one: Canon is a Dom when it comes to business and work, but he is a freaking Sub in bed. HAH!
2. Weird writing style
I don't get this author's writing style. She's using the weird choice of words to write this book. Even the monologue is hard to be understood!!
3. The sex scenes are super boring
Usually if the story is boring enough, the sex will help to make it a lil bit more interesting. But not with this book. God isn't it super frustrating reading a book with not even an exiting sex scene in it??!
I've never read a book that when the sex scenes come, I skip them right away because it's so freaking boring!!
4. Confusing
What is Emma actually? A college student? A master student?? Here's described that she's a law student but she's working in... what kind of company is that, again?

Basically,I was hyped when Alice Clayton recommended this. Or so I heard she did.
But when I started reading it, the hype was muffled like a scream.:(
Story began slow, too slow for me. Around 45%, yet, nothing was happening. He was being bitchy boss, she was day/nightdreaming about him. I understand that we have to have an intro, but this has been too much. [I tolerate around 25% of slow pace in the beginning.:)]
I give credit for unique style of writing. I can tell you that.It is strangely unique.
But that's it. Maybe 2 funny situations and 1 hot one,
other than that, just confusing and wondering what the hell? Whole communication is done by a look or a touch or some small gesture... and very few words. Except them talking boring office/papers/contracts talk. Ugh.
Like the author was trying to achieve that they are perfect for each other with this,and internal Emma talk...Huh?
It didn't work for me. I need dialogue. And more action. [I don't mean xxx rated stuff, romance is not all about that. :)]
Like Alaric said "Deeds,not words matter" but we did not got, not words, nor some special deeds here.

I couldn't put this one down. I laughed out loud (usually don't); stayed up too late because I couldn't put it down; loved Emma and eventually loved Canon. I thought the diary style format worked in this one - a little bit Bridget Jones Diary but much better because the laughs were not all at Emma's expense (so I didn't cringe.) I liked the office betting pool. Emma was smart and funny. I had a good time reading this one and enjoyed it - wouldn't mind reading more about the characters.

4 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It was a random selection based off of a review from a friend that I saw. I'm not usually spontaneous enough to actually BUY a book from amazon based off of one review, but I had a credit... so here I am.
This book is pretty light, it's a boss/PA romance but with a good dose of comedy. It's written from only the heroine's POV, so the hero is a bit of a mystery throughout the book. The writing style is also akin to a series of journal entries (not literal journal entries though), and not quite as easy flowing as other books. It all still somehow worked for me.
Safe; celibate heroine, non-manwhore hero, some OW drama caused by a woman who constantly hits on the hero, but he isn't interested, some mild OM drama, no scenes with OM/OW, no cheating.

It has a good plot for a light, enjoyable reading. If it was written better, I would have given it more stars.
After a while reading all the rumbles made me tried and reading diffucult. In a sentence or paragraf, I read heroine's inner thoughts, some events and reactions from hero. Sometimes, I confused who said what or if what I read happened or it was an imagine etc.
Also, imo it's not just CR, it's an erotica too. I don't like to read so much sex scenes. After all these pages, I still didn't learn much about hero and I didn't like his beign like a secondary-character in story.
Overall, I can say that it was kind of very erotic chick-lit.

This book was so distracting! Fun, sweet, touching, hilariously cute!
I really loved it! Just a few hours since I've finished it and I realize that I already miss it. I miss the fun and the chemistry. When a book makes me feel this way, it's really good!

Where do I begin? I'll be honest and say that I was skeptical when I received this book for review. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the author, but I've read so many stories where the secretary falls in love with the boss, that I find the plot a little cliche.
And I'm happy to admit I was wrong. The Plan is the very amusing love story developing between two employees of an enterprise. Emma Baker is a law student and she's working while preparing her exams, and Alaric Canon is a lawyer and, in a way, her boss. He's moody and has a difficult character.
“The levator into wich I'm sardined cannot hold another soul.good thing the guy trying to squeeze on is reputedly not encumbered with one.”
“He has high standards and low tolerance. Very low. Subbasement low.”
“Canon: Add an “N” in the middle and launch him out of his own name.”
His imposibility to find and keep a personal assitant is reason fot the rest of the office to have a good laugh and make money from the bets they place on how long the latest “victim” will last.
These bets give Emma a chance to buy pretty shoes and keep an eye on Alaric. She's been infatuated with him since the first day she started working there even if he never even glances her way.
“How long have you had a thing for your boss?”
What? “That’s crazy talk.” Crazy, crazy, craziness kind of crazy. Like post anti-helmet law Gary Busey crazy.
“Crazy or not, you definitely have feelings for him.”
“Of course I have feelings for him. I feel he drips disdain and breaths arrogance and harbors standards designed specifically to ensure their failure to be met.”
“Uh-huh.”
But one day, she finds herself appointed as his assitant and here's where the fun begins.
Despite her attraction toward him, Emma is not about to let Alaric treat her as bad as he did the others. Easyer said than done. Alaric seems determined to ignore her unless he has something for her to do.
Lunch: Cold. Mine. His. Both.
Demeanor: Icy.
I was bid to go and fetch his lunch. Which I did.
I delivered it to an empty desk over twenty minutes ago.
He did not bother to share his whereabouts with me. Even setting aside how impossible not knowing such an important detail cripples the ability to be an effective assistant, that makes the dropping of everything and dashing off to retrieve his hot food pointless.
Now, I am told to set it outside the conference room door.
I am not a Labrador.
However, I am closer than ever to lifting a leg. I’d cheerfully whizz in his Cheerios.
So, when they have to travel together to close a contract, Emma doesn't know if to be happy or send him packing and stay where she is.
This is Qwen's first novel but, for being a beginner, she did an amazing job. What I like most is that she doesn't follow the usual patterns. She didn't focuse on how good looking or how wealthy the characters are, even if those details are not missing. She focused on how their relationship develops, on their feelings for eachother.
There is drama, tears, fighting, laughter and many, many funny moments. I found myself laughing out loud since the beginning.
Location: Bread in Captivity Bakery.
Breakfast: Early coffee date.
Date: As compatible as arranged ones typically are.
It: What I am not into.
But I can't say more without giving spoilers so I'll stop here, but I'll tell you this: you don't want to miss this book! Trust me. I couldn't put it down and the only reproach I can think of is that it was too short.
Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! You HAVE to read it!
Will I pick up more of Qwen's books? Yes. She has great potential. Maybe she has to perfect her style a bit, but that will happend in time.

This book was a great blend of intelligent humor, office shenanigans and love. Emma Baker cracks me up. I totally embraced her character from page one. She never spoke to Mr Canon but was in love with him from their first encounter.
As for the billiant plot:
There is an office pool with bets placed on the new Canon PA and how long they last. She has a manager friend Rebecca who eventually convinces her to just fill in a day or two, then he has a business trip. So Rebecca offers a raise and begs until Emma agrees. She knows his work, his schedule, his likes and is basically the perfect PA.
The office is complete with Madeline and Bert who live and die by the office pool. As for Emma she is a gem! Her room mate and savior Clara is almost as funny. She is the girl who prepares everything, is nosy, loves you to death, and your best friend. The characters were easy to like. The book flowed well, and I had an ARC, so I know the complete package is going to blow people away.
Mr. Cannon was so different. He said little when he spoke. He had no times for games. He was all about work. He was told(**wink) that he needs to eat pineapples! Best part of the book! Does Emma reach the goal? Emma has a plan, but even with her military covert operation planned to the nearest second, does it work? I say read it now and you wont regret it. It is loaded with juicy scenes, office humor, a main character you will love, and Mr Canon!
