This book was withdrawn under threat of lawsuit from the family, & indeed must be taken with a grain of salt as the work of a resentful former business partner. Fascinating stuff nonetheless about the business of ice shows, the difficult emotional character of Curry (and his unprofessional behaviour toward his company), and his single-minded drive towards the formation of an artistic skating troupe. Title notwithstanding, the book deals principally with the period of the John Curry Skating Company, though it appears to be the earlier chapters, dubiously told "in John's voice", and asserting that he was the victim of physical abuse by his alcoholic father, which provoked the lawsuit. Really the only extended account of the genesis and development of his important professional work; Oglanby's attention to detail, however, can be gauged by her assertion that Toller Cranston's Olympic program was to "Cinderella" (that was from an earlier year). A fairly rare item.
