Three Christian couples are kidnapped and being held on their way to Africa for a missionary trip.

The premise: What would it take to break your faith and renounce God?

A harrowing look at the choices that are made under extreme duress

Cannot say more without giving it away, but this was powerful and a must read!

Thought provoking

This book really makes you think. What would you do if you were kidnapped, imprisoned and mentally tortured and told you could end it all and be released if you would push the button and deny Jesus?

This book is a chilling look at that scenario with the imprisoned being three couples who are on a mission trip to Chad. There is a pastor and his wife, an ex-Marine and his wife, and an accountant and his wife. Will any of them save their own or their spouse's lives, or will all of them stand firm?

Disturbing but encouraging at the same time. It was hard to read but couldn't put it down either.

At first I was concerned this would be like all the other books that cover this issue. Thankfully, this one is a bit different. Three couples, 6 people are taken hostage. They are being toyed with. David and his wife are among the group taken hostage. So is his pastor and his wife, and another close friend and his wife. They were all on a missions trip when this happened. Their captors seem hell bent on getting them to renounce their faith in God by using their greatest weakness to their advantage. Wait until you find out why!

The story bounces back and forth between the three couples, but focuses the most on David and Brenda, his wife. It's intense in places. I can tell you this wouldn't have held together at all with out the why this happened to them, and the follow up. It was worth reading. It would be a good book for people who have never read this kind of do you deny Him or not type book.

My copy came from Story Cartel in exchange for my honest review and nothing more.

Gripping.

I was enthralled. Very pertinent discussion given the struggles of today. I can only pray that I would have the strength of Timmel.
