unicorn horn fucking🦄…
Anyway must have been the wind…

Alright… I did not have “unicorn monster romance” on my 2025 bingo card, but here we are and I can’t lie, I kind of loved it.
Herd life basically means sharing everything, which in this case translates to full-blown public orgies while searching for bond mates. It’s filthy in the best way , exhibitionism, MF, MMF, FFM, MMMFF, plus MM and FF action. Basically, no one goes home unsatisfied.

Now let’s talk about our leads. Stirling was really sweet, caring, persistent, adorable… basically unicorn boyfriend goals. And his herd freaking lovely!! Jade, well …yeah, she’s complicated. I get that she’s in a bad situation (pregnant, alone, stuck with $40k of her ex’s debt), but she spends a good chunk of the book treating people around her like crap. It made me want to shake her a few times. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Stirling, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed her parts as much.

The setup is wild. Through a friend, Jade takes a job through Monstrous Deals to work a unicorn party (orgy) as a last big “fun” moment before having her baby. She meets Stirling , who is hosting , and, well… ends up sleeping with him in front of the entire room. Instead of being a one-and-done hookup, Stirling immediately decides she might be his bond mate. She tries to brush him off, but he’s not giving up that easily.

And here’s the part I really liked , instead of rushing her, Stirling actually takes his time, trying to show her what life in his herd could be like. When he finds out she’s pregnant (after a couple of memorable puke-on-him moments), he supports her without hesitation. Slowly, she opens up, gets involved with the herd, and even ends up being there for the birth of their first foal. By the time she has complications with her own pregnancy, Stirling is so devoted that he literally sacrifices his horn to save her baby. And finally she realizes he’s her mate and this herd is her family.

The romance is sweet, the smut is ridiculously hot, and the herd scenes were a lot of fun. But the book still left me with a few “huh?” moments , like Jade’s stalker ex suddenly disappearing after one conversation, and the $40k debt plot just… vanishing without real closure.
Still, for all my gripes about Jade, Stirling carried this story for me.

This is my first read by Ami and my first unicorn smut. I saw this cover and was hooked. This book has a trope I don't usually love but wow did Ami do it incredibly well and I actually loved every second of this. Jade is pregnant and hasn't told anyone because her ex is a deadbeat who put her in massive debt with his gambling issues. Stirling meets Jade at a herd seggs party (monster escorts yes pls) and instantly lusts over her. Their chemistry is delicious! Jade doesn't do commitment and runs from Stirling BUT Stirling isn't going to give up that easily (or ever). The unicorn herd was super sweet and very close (if you catch my drift) I loved this so much. It was totally different but still monstrous and delicious in every way. A few tears were shed. Ami's writing style is actually so fun I devoured this book in one sitting while kicking my feet and giggling. Don't worry, there's horn play, group play, massive ding dongs and so much more. Stirling could get it. His herd too.

I read another book of the series and we’re back on track, baby. This one was really good again! 🙌

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "A unicorn? Seriously?" Yes. A unicorn. I’ll admit, it sounded a little out there at first, but somehow, it totally worked.

What really made this one shine for me was the herd dynamic. I loved the polyamorous relationship in this book. It felt natural, respectful, and genuinely sweet. The way everyone in the group supported and cared for each other? Peak cozy fantasy energy.

And before you ask… Yes, the uniCORN was put to very good use 🦄 No further questions.

Oooh, I liked this one a LOT more than the past two I’ve read from the series. I liked the MMC so much more as well; he was just so steady, caring, and in charge with Jade, yet he also made sure she had space to decide things for herself, also knowing when to step in when she was overthinking things.

Also, this one was surprisingly kinky for how short and cozy these books usually are!

This one took me by surprise!
It's definitely more spicy than the other 2 books that I have read in this series (Kraken and Basilisk) and also more emotional. While Jade has some growing up to do in the honest communication department, Stirling and the herd were true gems. I liked the interactions from the fmc with the herd. They were a proper poly-family, and I loved to see it.

For transparency's sake, I received Used by the Unicorn as an Advanced Reader’s Copy (ARC) and my review is honest and unpaid/unsponsored.

Overarching: 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
Overrching:⭐ ⭐

Genres: Monster Romance
Tropes: HEA, pregnancy, secret baby, polyamory, ethical nonmonogamy, found family, sharing, MMC falls first, exhibitionism, high heat, monster escort service
Content Warnings: pregnancy complications, toxic marriage

PLEASE NOTE: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD
Used by the Unicorn was fine for me. Smut was the plot, and the romance didn’t disappoint, but I had a very difficult time rooting for Jade (our MFC). Jade was just a miserable character who refused help or to communicate her needs/wants/questions until it was too late. She was also unnecessarily rude to people which is one of my biggest pet peeves.
The pregnancy trope is quite polarizing in the reading community. Personally, I don’t mind it in my reads if there’s additional substance to the plot. I’m disappointed, that I didn’t vibe with the trope as written in Used by the Unicorn. The parts of the book not centric around the pregnancy were fine.
For me the timeline was hard to follow, some conversations were sloppy and didn’t seem to fit how the characters would speak based on other conversations, and the plot was lacking. I feel like something was missing in this storyline. I’m not sure what, but I needed something more to really seal the book as a 4+ star read.
I do intend to read more by Ami as it’s possible Used by the Unicorn just isn’t for me. I LOVED the short story Ami wrote in an anthology I read recently, My Monster Valentine, which was based in the Monstrous Deals world so I’m optimistic about the rest of the series books.
If you give Used by the Unicorn a read, let me know what you think!

We briefly met Jade in Kalli's book and she's now working in Kalli's shop. She's in a bit of a pickle, though, and is actively avoiding thinking about the future since the future is big and scary. So what's a pregnant lady who doesn't want to deal with the future do? She agrees to help MD with a little unicorn party. Which sounds innocent, AMIRITE? It's not. It's gloriously naughty and Jade is ALL IN.

Or maybe I should say Stirling is all in. As in, he's smitten with Jade from the first time he sees her. They have a little fun at the party and then she skedaddles because she doesn't do long term and Stirling feels like he could ABSOLUTELY be long term.

No worries, though. Stirling isn't a unicorn to just give up. He finds Jade and is there for her when she needs someone to lean on. Which freaks her out. After her freak out, she kinda likes it. Which also freaks her out. But it isn't just Stirling. She also likes his herdmates. And their open sexuality. In fact, she might just have found a place where she fits in and THAT also freaks her out.

Let's just say that the lady needs to let go of a little baggage and trust that the individuals surrounding her will support her if things go south. (Spoiler: They do!) *thumbs up* all around.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my voluntary, honest review.

Quote: It’s the perfection of this moment more than anything. Like every time I’m with him. I long for this to be my life, instead of a dream I have to wake up from.

This is part of the Monstrous Deals series, there’s not much of a plot. That’s the whole point. Jade is a cute little human that needs some more money and works for Monstrous Deals for a party with unicorns.

I CRIED AT THREE DIFFERENT POINTS IN THIS BOOK. THE AUTHOR HAS ADDED SECRET NINJAS TO ATTACK MY EYEBALLS WITH LITTLE KNIVES. Chapters 22, 23 and 25 (all for different reasons). Just saying. Js. I loved it. Jade does strike me as demiromantic, but Stirling has the horn for her. His herd is there to help too on this smutty, filthy journey. This needs to come with towels and buckets.

This was definitely a little different than the rest of the series, and yet Ami wrote it, so I loved it.

4⭐️ This series is gonna be my brain off no thoughts series for this season of my life. I had such a good time with this book. It finally delved into those alternative relationship types that I wanted to see in this series. The 2 main characters are still male and female but the found family/ multiple partnership featured in this book was fun, especially since there is M/M and F/F scenes that were handled well. F/M/M/F and F/M/M was also fun to see. The idea of the magical birthing center grove was AWESOME and it needs to be featured in future books because I am curious about the Nyads.

I had a good time reading this one. It was fun reading about polyamory as represented through a Unicorn herd. The romance was sweet and the angst was low. The spice was higher than some of the other books in her Monstrous Deals series, but I assume it was due to the nature of the unicorns and their non-monogamous ways. They say variety is the spice of life and you get that with this book.

Hot damn! I've never read a unicorn monster book but I am a fan now! Herd life means sharing ... everything. These unicorns know how to party, and by that, I mean they throw huge orgies looking for their bond mates. There are all sorts of yummy spicy scenes that contain exhibitionism, MF, MMF, FFM, MMMFF scenes and there is MM and FF action. *Big trigger warning for some* The book contains pregnancy, birth and talks about possible abortion & pregnancy loss.

I'm not gonna lie, I really don't like the FMC, Jade. I think what made me a fan of this book was all the smut and the fact that Stirling is so damn sweet, and the rest of his herd is as well! While Jade is in a shitty situation and is dealing with being pregnant alone, she really treats those around her like shit and I'm not sure why Stirling continued trying to be with her after how she treats him.

Jade is keeping the fact that she's pregnant from everyone, while she works at Oniero to chip away at the $40,000 debt that her ex-husband saddled her with. Through her friend Kalli (book #1) she gets asked to work at a unicorn party as an escort through Monstrous Deals. She goes to this job, treating it like a last attempt at having fun before having a baby, and meets Stirling, who is hosting said party (orgy). Stirling is immediately drawn to her and ends up screwing her in front of the entire room. He asks to see her again and this scares the crap out of Jade and she's a dick to him, saying that she really only wanted him for sex and that nothing else is going to be happening. Stirling however, is a persistent dude and goes to Monstrous Deals and has a contact reach out to her for further deals. Jade accepts because he'll be paying her to go on dates and she crosses her fingers she can get more of that unicorn dick. Stirling, however, is trying to take things slowly and get her to get on board with the idea that she might be his bond mate and to be part of his herd.
Stirling ends up finding out about her pregnancy (after she pukes all over him multiples times) and goes with her to her appointment. Things take off from there and they start to bond more and more, and she becomes more comfortable with the herd and their group activities. She becomes so close with the herd that she's there for the birth of the herd's first foal.
Skipping forward a little bit, there are some complications with her own pregnancy and Stirling comes through for her in a big way and sacrifices his horn to ensure that her baby lives. It's a very sweet moment and Jade realizes that she's been a huge dickwad and that this herd supports her and Stirling is definitely her bond mate. Thankfully she pulled her head out of her ass before any major damage was done with their relationship and everything works out in the end and they get their happily ever after.

Jade's ex, Carston ends up contacting her and even finds her at her new house. I don't really buy that just having that one conversation with him puts him off of her forever. He's been stalking her up to this point to try and get more money from her and after one conversation, he just gives up? That seemed like what was the stretch in this book. Not unicorns or giving birth in a glen, but that a stalkery ex wouldn't leave well enough alone just because he was told to. The book also never really mentions how her debt is cleared, or if it is at all. I'm assuming the massive amount of money that Rin gave her covered it, but it's not specified. And since that was a big part of her backstory, I would think it would have been paid closer attention to.

I really liked this one in the Monstrous Deals story and recommend it for sure! I wasn't expecting unicorns to pop up, but I'm glad that they did!

Jess’s overall enjoyment: 3/5⭐️
Spice level: 5/5 🌶️
Angst level: 3.5/5 ❤️‍🩹
Plot: 4/5 🗺️
Writing: 4.25/5🖊️

This was a good book! It had a lot of interesting elements -- obviously the biggest one being that the FMC is falling for a unicorn whose culture is all about sharing. I don't want to give away too much more without spoiling it so I'll leave it at that but there were definitely twists and turns happening in this book. It was on the shorter side but there was still a lot of plot happening a lot with all of the spiciness.

I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't so irritated by the FMC. As a character she bothered me and it detracted from my enjoyment from the book because I felt like she was making stupid decisions that put her in various difficult situations. It felt hard to read in that way. However I would still recommend this book, it wasn't an ideal book for me is all.

Also I did have a hard time visualizing a unicorn in an attractive way... but also I think that's a 'me' problem since I grew up with the generation whose high school classmates were obsessed with those fake horse head masks.

This one wasn't for me. Jade is a pregnant girl who takes a sex work job to pay the bills. She ends up at a party hosted by Stirling and his herd and basically has sex with him in front of everyone. I get it, Jade's tough and sexually liberated but it just felt like the whole story was just a bunch of smut. I would have liked to see some actual relationship stuff and Stirling as a character just felt really flat to me.

🦄 “I’ll make sure you still want me every damn day. Whatever it takes. I won’t stop wanting you.”
~~~
Jade is amazing! She’s bold, direct, sassy and incredibly strong. And I loved that she never hesitated to speak her mind and stand her ground. Jade’s been through quite a lot and I loved that she’s always found the courage to overcome all the hardships thrown her way. But after being hurt and used in the past, she’s not someone to trust easily. Nevertheless, Jade is a wonderful woman and I loved her so, so much!
And Stirling is such a fine male! The smoking-hot unicorn is not only incredibly charming, but he’s also kind, understanding, supportive and thoughtful. Even more, I loved that he could be persistent, but he was also incredibly respectful. Stirling is a magnificent, “glass half full” cinnamon roll and I adored everything about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Jade and Stirling! With the secret she’s keeping, Jade needs an additional income, so she accepts a job from Monstrous Deals for a Unicorn Party, where she meets Stirling and his herd. I loved Jade and Stirling together! The reverse grumpy/sunshine dynamics are one my favorite and Jade and Stirling fit them to the T. I loved their instantaneous attraction and their chemistry was fantastic right from the start. I also loved their banters and teasing. Every passionate moment they shared was off-the-charts hot! And when Stirling’s herd got involved, things got even hotter and I couldn’t get enough of all the naughty and sensual delight! Oh, the creativity of those unicorns! In addition, I loved how patient, supportive and welcoming Stirling and his herd were and the more Jade got to know them, the more the walls around her heart crumbled. Jade and Stirling were such a perfect match and I adored them together!
Overall, the story is another fun, emotional, naughty and spectacular addition to the series and I absolutely loved every page of it!
Unique & Healthy Ethical Non-Monogamy Dynamics
Gleeful Goblin Review: This book was such a phenomenal exploration of sensualíty, relationship dynamics outside of strict monogamy while still involving commitment of two people to each other, and the dynamics involved in new relationships while dealing with the very real consequences of a past relationship (pregnancy). I also just flat out adore this series for how it handles sèx work in general. This book diverges from others in the series in that from the start there are group dynamics involved at first indirectly and then later VERY directly both of which reminded me beautifully of Stalked by the Kraken from Lillian Lark and is just *chef's kiss*. And just like in that book there is...exploration of appendages that you don't find on humans let's just say and it's very good to know your way around a horn. The backdrop to all of this admittedly very steamy physical connection is that our FMC is terrified to make anything permanent so when I read this tidbit at the end of a scene I really felt for her but was comforted by knowing there's a definite happily ever after waiting for everyone: "Then I wipe my face and we all collapse into a tangle of limbs on the bed. I am sandwiched between two muscular unicorns, one stroking my hair, the other my back. I should move. I know I should. Cuddling is against the rules. I don’t, though. I lay there and lap it up like this was exactly what I wanted all along. Like I didn’t make the rules to protect me from making another big mistake." Big oof there Jade, big oof.
Even though there's rightfully and delightfully a lot of focus on physical intimacy, there's also a lot of found family dynamics as well as radical acceptance of self and others in ways never anticipated. Absolutely loved this book. 5/5 Stars
📚✨Book Review✨📚
Used by the Unicorn
Author: Ami Wright
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Notes: I received a copy of this book as an advanced reader, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Please check the trigger warnings for this one. The spice is super hot but there are also some non spicy situations that might make people uncomfortable. So please please please check them before reading!
What I Liked:
🦄 I usually love the FMCs in Ami Wright’s books the most but this time it’s all the MMC Stirling for me. He has such golden retriever energy. He is so attuned to Jade’s every need that he really is a magical mythical creature!
🦄The whole herd is so open. I feel that they really communicated well throughout the book with each other.
What I Didn’t Like:
🦄 If you read the trigger warnings like I suggested, you would know this has a secret baby. I’m not such a fan but took a risk and read it anyway. Overall I loved the story, but I’m still not really a fan of the trope. However, I thought the little twist at the end was cute….guess it helps that she’s with a magical creature!
Final Thoughts:
🦄I had some reservations about this book but I’m glad I read it. It was steamy, yet also sweet. I’m curious to see which monster or magical creature Ami Wright writes about next!
This is a series although they are all pretty much standalones. This one however is rather different from the others I believe but you'd only be taking my word for it, so why not read it and see for yourself?
Ok, you would be hard pressed to miss the secret baby that is part of the story here and yet not. I have to say that I generally do not read that trope but as it is an Ami Wright book I just had to read this one (I have read them all). To be honest it doesn't quite fall into the usual expectation, in that the baby is not between the two lead characters and is not the main reason for their relationship. Jade is pregnant before she meets Stirling but this is not the whole focus of the story. Please also do check the trigger warnings if you need to and be aware that there is sharing in this book, by pretty much all.
Stirling is a darling of a cinnamon roll. He is not intentionally charming but he just seems to know what Jade needs and sets about making sure she has it. In short, he can "Jade" so to speak. That said he wasn't able to stop her running when he told her that she was "it" for him. Jade is brilliant and I loved her. She is determined to be herself and stand on her own in spite of her past which gives her a little more bite than she had before. Picking yourself up and carrying on is never as easy as it made out to be. The herd are wonderful and just add that extra dimension to it.
"I’ll admit I’ve been curious about taking a unicorn for a ride ever since I took this job and did a little reading."
Well, that quote pretty much describes how I feel after reading this book. I will admit I was a little hesitant with the secret baby trope but, Ami in all her monster magic made it not cringe for me and I love that!
Stirling the MMC is a cinnamon roll unicorn who has a polyamorous relationship with his herd mates Sapphy, Knight, and Boaz.
Jade the FMC is a human who works for Monstrous Deals and just happens to be working the party Stirling herd is hosting.
Being a novella you sometimes worry about the plot lacking, well that's not the case with this book. The journey each of the MC takes is beautiful they grow and develop such a strong herd together.
I also have a big weakness for a polyamorous relationship and unicorn culture encourages promiscuity. This one is written so well where each partner communicates and consents, the herd is everything.
“I am a monster f***r now. And I’d never go back.”
The spice! OMG. 3 men and 2 women think of all combinations 🤭🔥Ami always brings the spice to the next level.
Who else is so excited for Maurice story 🙋‍♀️
Need a good monster romance series check out Monstrous Deals. You won't be disappointed.
The book follows Jade, a friend of Kalli (first book FMC) who works in her fashion design shop. Jade is down on her luck, and just found out she's pregnant by her ex husband, who slapped her into an astounding amount of debt before she got out. When Sofia, the owner of Monstrous Deals invites her to escort for a Unicorn party, she jumps in feet first for a bit of fun and an escape from the stress of her new normal.
But when she meets Stirling, one of the males in the herd, and spends a steamy night in bliss with him, all bets are off when it comes to her heart.
All in all I enjoyed the story. Stirling was such a sweet, caring MMC who really did just want the best for his mate. I was a little annoyed with Jade at times, as it felt like she self-sabotaged a lot and made a ton of excuses for her behavior instead of just communicating, but with trauma everyone responds differently, and I know how hard it is to open up once you've been burned time and time again.
I loved the dynamic of the herd and that there was no jealousy, and all love. It was beautiful to see Jade go from complete isolation other than Kalli to being a family unit with 4 people surrounding her with love and affection that she hadn't ever had before.
If you like group play/dynamics you'll like this one. :)
3.5 stars. Jade, the female human lead, has found she’s pregnant by the drunk ex-husband who left her with huge debts. She’s not happy about her situation and struggling to work out what to do. When a friend needs an additional sexy waitress for an event, she obliges for the pay, but she’s shocked to find she really enjoys Stirling, the male unicorn lead, when he offers her a public ride at the party…
Stirling has been looking for his personal bond mate to join their polyamorous herd and he’s sure he’s found her in Jade. Jade’s grumpy presentation isn’t offputting for him - he’s determined to convince her, however she needs to be convinced and by providing all the support she needs, both from him and his herd.
This novella is dual POV, well written, and an unusual polyamorous fantasy romance. I enjoyed the unicorn social structure the author created. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters who were part of Stirling’s herd and integral to the relationship. I enjoyed and empathised with Jade’s initial reticence to Stirling’s wooing, and I enjoyed Stirling’s gentle persistence that looked for and would have respected a refusal. This story is rated relatively low because, quite frankly, the themes and interactions are not my preference. I respect what the author has done with them but didn’t enjoy the story enough that I’d bother rereading it because it’s simply not to my preference. However, if you like polyamory, this is a great story.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
I smile. “Call me crazy, but a whole herd of unicorns sounds like the sort of challenge I live for.”
I loved the dynamic change in this one - up until now, the series has given us strict 2-person pairings. This opens things up a little and I really liked the herd that Stirling belonged to! While is not usually a trope I enjoy, I didn't mind it that much in this read. The whole story was kind of basic but in a good way. It read easy and quick!
Idiot that I am, I’m bull-headed enough to ignore it. Might as well have been born a minotaur.
LOL. Overall, another higher-rated book in this Monstrous Deals series! And next up for a co-read, we have the long awaited story featuring Maurice in Worshipped by the Werewolf!
One thing i love about this series is its sex positive & body positive !! Its about an escort service but its not done in a sleazy way . The way each fmcs finds their true love through working in the escort service is cool. Is it Absolutely unrealistic? yes but i mean This series is about humans getting with monsters so . - I love this book alot because Its so positive about the whole being non monogamous ( unicorns in this universe are non monogamous but do have their true mate) This is all
done in such a non sleazy way. it feels like its just meant to be . The fact they all basically fuck each other somehow feels like they are all in a poly relationship of some sort !!!
There is something about this series that i just love
this book has the pregnancy trope but the child isnt the mmcs . the mmc does see the child as his though!!! Men like this >>>
aaaww!! this was so sweet!! another great addition to the 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴!!
stirling was such a cinnamon roll & a pretty stand up guy or... 🦄!! the lengths he took to show hes there for jade & the baby was very admirable!! im so glad he did not give up on her!! with stirling & the herd's help, they were able to get jade thru her difficult times & get her act together. she was able to fully embrace her pregnancy, her new found fam (herd), & especially accept stirling as her bond mate. it was a beautiful HEA!! & the shmexy scenes were DEFINITELY 🔥🔥
𝓤𝓼𝓮𝓭 𝓫𝔂 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓤𝓷𝓲𝓬𝓸𝓻𝓷 is Book 6 of the cozy monster romance 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴. They have interconnected characters but can be read as 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦
This book was so different from what I was expecting!
I love the other books I’ve read in this series and expected to like this story as well! I definitely did!
Thinking this would be a 1:1 book, there was the element that Jade was pregnant already when she met Sterling and the fact that this book features play parties and the herd, which is a polyamorous family.
I loved how absolutely committed Sterling was to Jade from the get-go even though she’s grumpy and pushes him away. And I love the character trait that Jade is unsure about her pregnancy, it was refreshing to see that side of having a baby - it isn’t always sunshine and roses from the day you miss a period.
Loved this! Can’t wait to keep reading more MD books!
