Faith Galloway is an orphan, a witch, a powerful charmer, and still in love with her high school sweetheart. But Abel Barlow isn't the man she fell in love with, instead he's the cunning coyote Alpha behind the kidnappings and killings of wolf shifters in Leeds Point.
While Faith isn't completely innocent, she realizes someone has to stop Abel and contacts the Kapok Shifter Council where she meets grizzly bear Alpha Erich Krause. Faith awakens the bear within Erich, making him realize she is his true mate. Erich will do anything to help her, even if that means risking his position with the Council.
As the secrets of Faith's family are revealed, she discovers her role in an old curse that Abel plans to use not only to control shifters, but to open a gateway between the human and spirit worlds. Will Faith remain true to her love for Abel or will she follow her heart which is leading her to Erich?
Liliana Rhodes is a New York Times and USA Today Best Selling Author who writes romance with fun, engaging characters. Blessed with an overactive imagination, she is always writing and plotting her next stories. She enjoys movies, reading, photography, and listening to music. After growing up on the east coast, Liliana now lives in California with her husband, son, two dogs who are treated better than some people, and two parrots who plan to take over the world.
Carelessly written. The author didn't even make the effort to make sure the timeline was right. The two main characters should be around the same age--not 10 years apart--as evidenced in the book #1, Charming The Alpha.
Faith Galloway couldn't have a more perfect name. Her past has been a series of heartbreaking experiences that has made her doubt her own value.
Abel Barlow was her childhood sweetheart, the one person she could always trust to be in her corner, but he has changed over the years, and darkness has overcome his once loving personality.
Faith must choose to continue to support the one person she loves, or do the right thing and reach out for help to stop the darkness that has overtaken her onetime lover.
Doing the right thing has never been more difficult. When she finally reaches out to bear Alpha Erich Krause, Faith learns that if she believes in herself, she just might find the one true love she had given up on ever finding long ago. If only it isn't too late to stop the darkness that shadows her life...
Second in the Crane Curse series, Resisting The Alpha is darker and more emotionally powerful than Liliana Rhodes' more lighthearted first offering, but the personal journey of choices each character experiences is one that you won't want to miss!
A copy of Resisting The Alpha was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I just did not like anything about this book. The blurb made me think I may not enjoy certain aspects of it but I thought I would give it a try. It was not for me. I thought it completely ridiculous how long the relationship between Abel and Faith was dragged out. To me, it just seems unrealistic that she would still love him after the horrific things he did. It made her seem weak and dependent and needy and I did not like that portrayal AT ALL. Also, I would say only about 15% of this book was dedicated to the relationship between Faith and Erich. So that was a disappointment. Ugh, it just wasn't what I was expecting and this was not a good thing.
Faith Galloway is an orphan who has always searched for family, some sense of belonging then one day Abel shows up in her class and refuses to take heed her rejection. A bound is formed, a love found. Faith wears a necklace of a crane which seems to be connected to a curse, Abel believes she has powers and helps her learn how to charm shifters. Unfortunately, Abel's shifter side begins to take over as he plots something using Faith's skills. She realizes she needs help to stop him so she meets the Alpha Bear Erich who senses she is his mate but realizes she loves Abel so he must be careful. As the story unfolds we get to experience Faith's unwillingness to give up on love while at the same time finding answers to her history. A fabulous journey into finding belonging wrapped up in the shifter world.
i received ARC for my honest opinion, and i have to say that i was taken away it is such a good series. i love that you still mention the original characters in the first book by you don't dwell on them so much to where the book becomes about them and not the ones it should be about. you start with an Abel an alpha male coyote that was once man but now he has given in to his coyote. little by little he is becoming something totally different then what Faith fell in love with. poor Faith the only family she has known is now practically a stranger, will there love bring them back or will new love come. the story has a great flow and rhythm that you want to continue reading. Liliana did a great job and i can't wait till book 3.
Finding love and family thru trials and tribulation This is the second book of this series and yet it’s a self-contained story. But reading the first book does add character value to the storyline. Action with some bad guys with a love story in the mix along with finding unknown family. Well written and very enjoyable to read. There’s hope and love that make you want to believe in a better future and a storyline that keeps your interest right up till the end of the book. I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
2.5 stars. Promising storyline with some choppy scenes and story shifts. This is the second book in the trilogy that follows the Alpha Bear shifter and council member Enoch. He is tasked by a mysterious someone above the council to get closer to the rogue coyote shifter Abel that caused so much damage in the previous book. Still wondering why he would be allowed free much less live... He is also attracted to Abel's girlfriend and witch Faith, his fated mate of course.
Having read the first book in this trilogy and not really getting into it, I am glad that I read this one. I liked learning about Faith, a character that isn't 100% good, either wittingly or unwittingly for the sake of love. The inner strength she found in order to fix what she had caused and to stop her first love very well written. I look forward to reading more from this author.
The story was decent and solid. It was a different take on a feral shifter. But....when I read a paranormal romance, it would be nice if there was some. There is one sex scene and that was only 2paragraphs! Boy, I was disappointed :(
This novella was part of a box set (since I've already read a few of the books as stand-alones, I will rate each of the books separately also). Very hard time finishing this one. Couldn't engage with the characters or the storyline. Seemed to jump around a bit, and parts weren't very detailed.
What an incredible mess. This book jumps time periods and point of view so much, with no transition besides some headers saying ten/ 15 years ago. So bad I checked for updates thinking the editing was bad. Just horrible would return if I could.
The Crane Curse #1 was what started me reading Liliana's books. This books is just as great as the first one. There are not many love scenes but, that's because the character in the book is at a cross roads in her life. This is a full length book. I also can't wait to finish reading book three!
good book, the second in the Crane Curse trilogy. Great story, alpha characters and good witches. I love the shifter books and so will you. I read this book in one sitting. up couldn't put it down
This is a quick interesting story about a young woman who grew up in an orphanage. She kept waiting for her mother but she never came to get her. This is about the people and situations she allowed to influence her life. Entertaining read, enjoy I did.
I love the style of writing. I was drawn into the story from the beginning! I was gifted with an arc in exchange for an honest review. I also bought the books.
