Laurel is a romance author, who like most writers loves to read. She has no one favorite genre to read because she believes "a good story is a good story" regardless of what genre it's published under. However, her first love (pun intended) is romance. From the sappy romantic chick flick, the sappy YA romance novel to the more risque erotica novels, Laurel is a sucker for a good love story.
Laurel writes paranormal and contemporary romance. She is a self proclaimed, out of the closet nerd, and admits that she can't seem to avoid adding a bit of "nerdology" or "geek-dom" to all of her stories. Living in Miami, she also admits that she can't seem to avoid giving her heroines gorgeous shoes, "In Miami, we worship everything strappy, open toed and just plain hot!"
If you like hybrid paranormal romances, this is a book you must read. It has a little of everything in it and it makes for a very thrilling story. With witches, vampire, werewolves, and anything else you will be in awe with the story. The author does a good job of mixing these mystical creatures together and making them a family of sorts. It has a very intense story and there is a lot of twists and turns in the story. I was more into the mystery than I was into the romance in this book. The mystery and the secrets kept me going to the very end, because you can't figure out who did what and why. About 60 percent of the way in, it got more intense and the story started to unfold to give you some idea what was going on, but not everything. I liked that a lot, I liked being driven to find out what was going to happen and why. Marcus was a great lead in the story. I actually liked that you didn't know his whole story till later because he was more of an in depth character. More than meets the eye kinda guy. And how the author plays everything into the story made it perfect. As a strong lead, Marcus played the role perfectly, he did what he had to to protect Georgia and did it with no hesitation. In these types of books that is what you need. Georgia was great too, there is more to her also and I like once again you don't know everything until you get to the end of the book. It made the story line just flow so much easier. Being an alpha just seems to get harder and harder in books because you have to find an interesting story line, but this author did.
I enjoyed reading this book. The author did a great job of showing different sides of hybrids and how they all could coexist. The only thing that frustrated me was that it was a cliff hanger and I hate waiting. I like to have a complete story in my hands, but I will tell you that I can't wait to read the next part of this series to see what happens.
Midnight Dare is an ultra-short, power-packed second installment in a paranormal series. The heat is on, literally, at the beginning of this story. The heroine, Georgia, is the daughter of the Alpha pack leader. Georgia’s problem is that she’s in heat and her wolf wants the one man that causes her to feel “weak in the knees” and not her usual in control self. That man is Marcus. Marcus, is an enforcer. He has done many horrible acts against others for the sake of the pack by order of the Alpha leader, Georgia’s father. Marcus is highly intelligent and dangerously sexy, with tattoos marking each kill he’s had to make for the sake of the pack.
The other problem for Georgia is that her father has decided to choose a successor. Three exceptional wolves are up for the nomination; however, Georgia’s biggest fear is that Marcus will become the new Alpha leader. Her Alpha leader. Marcus is given the task of escorting Georgia home for the announcement. The “chase” is on.
The banter between the two is funny, sexy and well-written. Marcus desires Georgia and tries his best to convince her that they should “give it a go”. However, Georgia does her best to avoid what she and her wolf desire.
Although there are no sex scenes in this installment, the sexual tension and foreplay are high and make me look forward to the next book in the series. Will Georgia have to submit to Marcus if he becomes the new alpha? The ending leaves you hanging for the next book in the series.
For those that love a good shifter love story, this would be a great one to read.
