Just a Little Chase

Rate this book
She’s in need of a fake, friendly boyfriend to charm her family.
He’s the last bachelor up for auction and a grumpy, last-minute stand-in.
Neither satisfies the other’s requirements but they might just be what each of them needs.

With Lauren Connelly’s ex marrying her sister, the last thing she wants is to show up at the wedding without a date. Which means finding a fake boyfriend ASAP. The charity bachelor auction provides a solution to her problem, except the man she bids on turns out to be a gorgeous but grumpy executive who scowls more than he smiles.

Chase Gossard wants nothing to do with Lauren’s plan to make him her plus-one at a destination wedding and pretend that he’s in love. He doesn’t do relationships, fake or otherwise—but she paid a lot of money for the privilege. So why does their touching, kissing, and sharing one bed feel all too real?

Lauren is smart and witty and sexy as hell. A down to earth combination that somehow softens his hard edges, and somewhere along the way, he’s falling hard for his fake date. But when the truth comes out and it’s time to part ways, can the confirmed bachelor convince his pretend girlfriend to make things real?

The book was great until the main character, Lauren, forgave her sister for having an affair with Lauren's fiance. It ruined and overshadowed the entire story after that.
Lauren sat there consoling the conniving wench as soon as she began to cry to be forgiven. She should've beaten the crap out of her and disowned her family for siding with the cheater and not letting the entire town know what whores her sister and ex-fiance were. Disgusting. Just another doormat character and her sister/ex-fiance don't get karma coming to them.

Lauren needs a date to her sister's wedding especially bad because her sister is marrying her ex and Lauren can't show up alone. She gets the idea to find her fake date at a charity bachelor auction. With a bachelor in mind, when it's his turn, Lauren finds he's been replaced with Chase at the last minute due to the original bachelor not feeling well. As her last option, Lauren bids on Chase. Chase tries to pay Lauren off instead of going out with her, but Lauren is insistent that they go to the wedding together.

This book has a good old-fashioned bachelor auction that we all secretly (some not so secretly) love. Plus, I always love when some girl’s ex does her wrong and she gets to run into him with a new guy who treats her like she's God's gift to the world. And even better when it's all fake! The story was good, but other than what I've already mentioned, not much stood out. This is also a crossover, so if you find those books entertaining, you'll want to grab this one!

Isabelle Turner and Lee Samuels narrated well together in this one. Lee is always a reliable go-to for me. Plus, it's my first time with Isabelle and I'm looking forward to more work from her!

Thank you to Must Love Audio and the author for an advanced copy of this audiobook. Opinions are my own.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Just a Little Hookup (Dare Crossover Series #1)
Just a Little Secret (Dare Crossover Series #2)
Just a Little Promise (A Dare Crossover Novel #3)

This is Lauren and Chase’s story. She needs a fake date for the wedding of her ex and her sister. When she goes to a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how she can get a date to the wedding. But the man she wins is totally not on board with her plan. But since she paid so much money for him, he finally agrees to do it. But what started out as fake is turning oh so real. In the end will it all have been fake or is there a future that they could have if they just take the chance?

I recommend this book.

First, let me say how creative this title is.

Every story I have read by these two authors has amazed me. They always have a way of weaving a great storyline, creating phenomenal characters and amazing HEAs.

Lauren and Chase meet when she bids on him at a bachelor action. He was a last minute fill in for someone else, so she had no choice since he was the last man up there. When they go to the destination wedding of her sister, who is marrying her ex, they become close as they get to know each other. It doesn’t take long before lines are blurred.

Loved this story, as Chase is a man who doesn’t do relationships, once he and Lauren go their separate way, it doesn’t take long before he realizes he wants to spend his life with her. Great connection and banter between these two.

Grumpy/sunshine stories can be a lot of fun when done well, and this one definitely was.

Chase and Lauren meet when she buys him in an auction. And since he's the "grumpy" in their relationship, he's grumpy about this... as one would expect.

I loved their chemistry, their banter, and the evolution of their relationship. It was a quick read, but a satisfying one that I fully enjoyed.

I recommend this title.

Lauren needs a date for her sister’s wedding. So bidding on a bachelor at an auction is her best bet!

Chase is guilted into filling an empty spot at a bachelor auction by his sister. He is about to get a lot more than he planned on.

I loved how these two found each other !!.

Deliciously Disheveled

I love Chase Gossard with all his grumpy ass mumblings and big heart. When he lets some of the moodiness go, I like how he has plenty of sweet, playful, and smexy moments with Lauren Connelly. They really are good together - once he gets his head out of his backside. 💜

Chase’s standoffish demeanor wasn’t doing him any favors. Unfortunately for her, if she wanted a date for her sister’s wedding, he was her only option, and she was desperate enough to take a chance on him.
-- Lauren Connelly

Lauren's family drama is handled with more grace than I could probably muster, but I like that it gets addressed. Along with that, I love how Chase supports her through it all.

I enjoyed the audio book as part of the 'Dare Crossover' series. Even though the quality of the recording isn't as good as I expect, I do like the narrators, Lee Samuels and Isabelle Turner. 🎧💜🎧

Just a Little Chase❤️‍🩹

Just a Little Chase is the fourth book in the Dare Crossover series and is totally swoon worthy🥰 Lauren is working as an event planner and involved with a charity which is raising funds via a bachelor auction. She also had a huge problem - her sister is getting married and she needs a date to go with. She plots to buy a bachelor at the charity auction, only to end up with her friend’s brother, Chase😮

But the weekend away for the wedding stirs up more than just small town gossip🙃 Loved Lauren and Chase and I’m hoping for more in this Crossover series. I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and willingly leave my honest review❣️

Just a Little Chase is Book 4 in the Dare Crossover series. This story is Lauren and Chase's story. It's a steamy, instalust, grumpy-sunshine, fake relationship, girl gets her hunk romance. Lauren is a sweet and sassy event planner who needs a date to her sister's upcoming wedding, in which her sister is marrying her ex. She is planning to bid on the bachelor auction and get a date that way. Chase is a hunky, grumpy businessman who agrees to do the auction last minute to help out his sister. He doesn't believe in love or do relationships. Lauren ends up bidding on him, and he fully plans to buy her off with expensive gifts, but she is having none of it and plans to hold him accountable. If course real feelings develop between both parties but Chase doesn't want to admit it. Will he just let her go??? I loved their witty and snarky banter, and the chemistry between these two was pure fire!!! I loved them together, and we did get a happy ending, but it was a bumpy ride. I love this whole series so much!!.

Dare Crossover #4

Lauren Connelly just received a wedding invite in which her ex fiance is marrying her sister. The small town she's from no one knew the real reason their engagement ended, he cheated on her with her sister. Then Lauren moved to NYC and is working as an event coordinator at the Meridian Hotel, a job she loves. But in order to go home for the wedding she needs a fake boyfriend. Luckily there's a charity bachelor auction that will solve her problem.

Chase Gossard is a managing partner at an investment firm and doesn't do relationships fake or otherwise. When an issue comes up with a bachelor being sick his sister Billie talks him into filling in since it's for her company she works at.

Lauren has a bachelor picked out and then has to run to handle an issue and comes back only to find out the guy she's gonna bid on isn't the same one but she has no choice as this guy is the last one. She wins the bid, talks to him afterwards, thinks all is settled until she receives a basket with a bunch of expensive items thinking that will get him out of the date. He's grumpy, hardly ever smiles and thinks he dodged a bullet until Lauren shows up at his office unannounced and tells him he's going she paid a lot of money for him and to deal with it.

With all the time together they learn things about each other and get close. She's half in love with him and tells him but at the end of the weekend he's gone.
Is this the end?

With her sister’s upcoming wedding to her ex, Lauren needs to show her family and the rest of the town that she has moved forward with her life. Her plan is to win one of the bachelors at the charity auction she is managing and even though Chase might not have been her first choice he is definitely her best choice.

Chase doesn’t allow many people close and doesn’t believe in romantic love. Wanting to help his sister he agrees to be one of the bachelors, with the intention of offering the winner a much better prize than him. What he hadn’t expected was that Lauren was going to hold him to the deal or that she would show him what was missing in his life.

It doesn’t take long for Lauren to fall for Chase and even though Chase refuses to acknowledge it he feels the same as well. Lauren’s optimistic personality is exactly who Chase needs in his life and those closest to him let him know that as well.

This is a well written grumpy/sassy romance with strong characters in Lauren and Chase. The authors do a great job bringing them together and takes you into their lives with chemistry, steam and emotions and kept me reading from start to finish. They move it fluidly with their descriptive scenes and deliver a terrific read.

Liked the premise of needing a date to sister’s wedding bc she’s marrying my ex. The idea of not discussing it until day before and day of was bizarre. After the wedding the story lost my interest a little. Still liked it.

If you’re looking for a quick, fun, clever, and swoonworthy audiobook with fantastic narration, this one’s for you! Lauren’s sister is marrying her ex boyfriend (🙄🙄), and she is in need of a date for the wedding, so her friend recommends she buy one at a charity auction. Enter Chase, her grumpy prize, who wants nothing to do with dating. The way they found each other was perfect, and I loved how their relationship progressed, and how sweet he ended up being!

Lee Samuels and Isabelle Turner were a pleasure to listen to, their voices paired so well together and they fit the characters perfectly!

This story truly is the story of two people learning that sometimes love can lead you on Just a Little Chase. I enjoyed the story even when I was crying right along with the characters and feeling their feels, but in the end, I loved that their found their way into an HEA. Lauren was a woman that had given up on finding love and decided that settling for some fun and just getting through the tough family times was more than enough, but Chase throws her life and emotions for a loop, reminding her that we all need love. Chase believes that he doesn’t need love and that his life is perfectly fine the way it is, women are available when he needs them, but he doesn’t want anything permanent, until Lauren begins to show him just what he is missing if he is willing to let go of his past and pain and reach for what he wants. These two are so obviously in need of one another and their sparks fly from the beginning, but their passionate chemistry is sometimes hidden behind apprehension until its just no longer able to be fought. Once they unleash their desires nothing will hide the need Lauren and Chase have for one another, until it becomes an out-of-control wildfire, and they have to find a way to fight to control themselves. I loved every word of their story –especially the epilogue one year into the future! —and am sorry to see the series ending, but I am looking forward to the next series planned for Carly and Erika (Sterling Crossover Series)and hope readers will continue to enjoy that and Carly’s Sterling Family series as well. Nothing beats two well teamed authors and the magic they can create together, and they’d proven it again.

Lauren needs a fake boyfriend to attend her sister's wedding...to her own ex. What better way to find one than to bid on and win one at a bachelor auction? Too bad the only guy left is a grumpy, scowling suit, one entirely different than the kind of bachelor she had picked out. But she and Chase are stuck with each other, so they'll have to make do.

Chase doesn't do relationships, and his heart is locked up tight. The only person he loves is his half-sister, she's the only one who could have convinced him to fill in at her bachelor auction. But he can pay off the winner with a nice luxury date, alone, right? Or wrong, because Lauren not only paid dearly for someone to attend her sister's wedding with, but she also draws him in with her sass, her determination, and her beautiful face. Now he's faking a relationship that's starting to feel all too real. What will he do when their weekend comes to an end? Walk away and take his heart with her, or have an epiphany and realize what he'd be losing?

Oh Chase...this poor man, I wanted to give him a big ol' hug when his backstory played out. I love that Lauren's sass and her big, tender heart brought out Chase's soft side, and made him realize how much he deserved, and wanted love. Forced proximity and grumpy/sunshine are always fun, but Lauren and Chase have something more than this - they have the heart that make them more than just another couple. Carly and Erika make such an amazing writing duo, and I think this one might be their best cowritten piece yet.

OMG! This book was so cute!
Lauren needs a date to her sister’s wedding. She refuses to go alone because her sister Ashley is marring her Ex Gary. Yes you read that right! So Lauren refuses to go alone and have people fuss over her for not moving on.

Chase is a Mr. Grumpy, single, workaholic. He lands himself in a bachelor auction. And guess who won the bid for him? Yes you guessed it, Lauren!

Can Chase actually enjoy life? Is he the right man for Lauren?

Absolutely delightful well written romance read. Chase Gossard is an emotionally closed off man due to his childhood. The only person he will be open with is his half sister. Thus, he finds himself a part of a bachelors auction for his sister’s charity. Little did he know that his life would be turned upside down by the woman who won, Lauren. I loved watching Chase’s self imposed walls come down as Lauren lights up his world. This is a beautiful journey of humor, pain, hope and love.

Engaging and readable romance
5 stars

We continue into the Dare Crossover series with this fourth book. It does take place in the same world as the other books in the series - and at the same Bachelor auction - but it features a brand new couple and completely stands alone. You don’t have to read any books before or after to understand and enjoy this one although if you have, you might see cameos and mentions from previous characters.

This story is about bubbly yet feisty, Lauren, and her need for a last minute fake boyfriend to take to her sister’s wedding. The sister that happens to be marrying Lauren’s ex! But the regular, average man she set her heart on winning at the bachelor auction is the complete opposite of the gorgeous, grumpy and aloof, Chase. Yet it’s him she’s stuck with. And him that, despite his grumpy personality, she wants something real with.

Lauren is an event-coordinator at a posh hotel but she lives a fairly normal, down to earth lifestyle. And she might be a small-town girl but she’s all New York in attitude. She never comes over as too bolshie but I love how she stood her ground and went after what she wanted. She was always kind - sometimes too kind as I personally would have scratched my sister’s eyes out - but she was exactly what Chase needed.

I always love a grumpy hero but Chase took that one step further by also being a little arrogant and a lot aloof. His bafflement when he can’t just buy off Lauren was a delight - as was watching him try to keep his emotional and physical distance and his walls crumble for her. His gradual enlightenment towards his feelings felt real but he was always just a touch grumpy - so I was happy.

As a couple, Lauren and Chase were made for each other. They got on well, connected and they had some sizzling chemistry. This book is written by two queens of spicy romances so of course we’re going to have some lovely, sizzling sex scenes. I loved them as a couple and was rooting for them from their first meeting.

This is a short book at just 188 but I loved the way it was written and that it easily held my attention from beginning to end. I have absolutely no issue with a third-act break-up but I have to admit that it was quite nice how Lauren and Chase parted, and how everything was resolved. I’m always keen for a Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde collaboration and this book showed me exactly why. Easily 5 stars.

I choose you. Aah!
Lauren is in a bit of a bind. Her sister is getting married next month. To Lauren's ex. Yeah. Awkward. After all the pitying looks she got from the people back home, she knew she couldn't show up alone. She needs a fake boyfriend for the weekend, to show that she really has moved on. That she's happy. Lucky for her, there's a charity bachelor auction at the hotel where she's an event planner. She can get herself a date and support a great cause. Win-win. She even has her eye on one bachelor in particular.
Chase is not the bachelor auction type. If he had the ability to say no to his sister, he definitely wouldn't be here. But some other guy got the flu, and she needed a stand in. He's last on the list of bachelors, but the permanent scowl on his face scares the ladies, apparently, so that works for him. Until a voice rings out with a bid. Amid the gasps from the audience, he turns to look at her with a look that says "Really?" And she gives him a look right back.
Lauren had gotten called away, but returned just in time for the last bachelor. Who was not who she expected, but was her only option now. At least she didn't have to clean out her bank account for this, since no one else bid on him.
Except Chase was determined not to spend a weekend with Lauren, and tried to make it worth her while to let him out of it. So she showed up at his office to yell at him. He wasn't used to people standing up to him, and he actually found it amusing, though not enough to change his mind. Until she told him why she needed the date. And he realized he couldn't say no.
Chase had a rough childhood, and it's made him the grumpy guy he is today. He's never really experienced love in any capacity, so he just knows he's not capable of having a healthy relationship. But there aren't many people who stand up to Chase. In fact, Lauren makes two, and he can't seem to shake the feeling that gives him. The more he gets to know Lauren, though, the more he finds his walls crumbling. Which is why he knows he has to walk away when the weekend is over. He'll never be what she deserves.
Aah! So much fun! Chase is perfectly grumpy, with all the attitude that money can buy. And Lauren loves to push his buttons. But she cares about him, too, and she wants to help him move past his pain, even if there's still no place for her in his life.
Neither of them were what the other wanted. But maybe they can be what they each need?
A fun grumpy sunshine, fake boyfriend, close proximity story, and a nice addition to the series. Add in plenty of nosy family, not to mention townsfolk, just a little drama, and an adorable Gramps, and you won't want to put it down. I didn't!

Just a Little Chase by Carly Phillip and Erika Wilde, book four in the Dare Crossover series, is a heartwarming and enjoyable story of betrayal and forgiveness, family and friendships, acceptance and love. There are a few tropes, including: a grumpy vs. sunshine, one bed, fake relationship, close proximity, and dirty talking hero.

Lauren Connelly, an event planner at Meridian Hotel in New York City, loves the life she has created there after breaking off her engagement. With her sister and ex-fiancé getting married next month, she didn’t want to return to her hometown alone; but she’s not dating anyone. With the non-profit Future Fast Track for Foster Kids Charity Bachelor Auction, that she’s working on as an event coordinator coming up, she decides to bid on one of the bachelors; hoping she can convince him to pretend to be in love with her.

Chase Gossard is all about working and having fun, but he is not into relationships. He is a busy and successful financial advisor loves being a big brother to his half-sister. His half-sister, Billie, is in charge of the bachelors for a charity auction and when her final planned bachelor gets the flu. When one of the men drops out, she enlists her brother's help; despite it being the last thing he wants to do. Billie never asks him for anything, so he gives in and agrees.

When Chase learns of Lauren’s plan, his first thought is he does not have time to spend an entire weekend with a stranger and tries to buy her off. But Lauren is persistent, and honest, and he can't help but feel for her situation. He agrees to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend at her sister's wedding after Lauren threatens to tell his sister that he was trying to renege on his commitment to the charity.

These two have off the charts sizzling chemistry and the more time they spend together the more difficult it becomes to fight off the attraction and sparks blazing between them. Spending time in Lauren’s small town filled with history and meeting her family, breaks through Chase’s walls; walls that were a survival tool for him after his mom left him. Taking the time to talk helps them open up, when they didn’t need to, and changes their lives for the better. It was fun to meet Lauren’s parents Dale and Penny, as well as her sister Ashley, ex-Greg, and Chase’s half-sister Billie. There is an appearance by Neil, the bachelor who had the flu, which directed the ending in the best way; giving Chase a wake-up call. This was such a fun story and I hope that there will be future stories for a new group of bachelors and single ladies.

Lauren is the event coordinator for the Meridian Hotel. She is overseeing the bachelor auction this year. And she needs a date for her sister’s upcoming wedding. Chase gets hooked into being part of the bachelor auction because his sister hooks him into it. And he isn’t happy about it. As they get to know each other and their reasons for participating in the auction, Chase realizes he is going to help Lauren with deceiving her family and pretending to be her boyfriend. Can a fake relationship turn into real and lasting love?

Chase had a terrible childhood. Before the book begins he finds out that he has a half-sister he never met. The book starts with the reveal that he loves his sister and will do just about anything for her even though he is known far and wide as a closed off grumpy dude. Chase has become very successful in his chosen career but he has no one to share it with and he isn’t looking for anyone. Lauren has a great family and she had a wonderful childhood. She moved to New York after catching her sister in a compromising position with her fiancé. Now her sister is going to marry the man Lauren was once engaged to marry. Needless to say, this is causing Lauren a lot of stress since everyone will be attending the wedding. I think the way Chase and Lauren come together and learn about each other was well done. I found their relationship believable at the end of the story. I was glad that the author included an epilogue answering where the participants of the bachelor auction ended up.

This is a BIG SPOILER! My one complaint is that Lauren was hurt terribly by her sister and fiance and she was too forgiving. Perhaps I am bloodthirsty, but I felt like the people in town needed to know that Lauren had been wronged. Her sister and ex-fiancé needed to feel the judgement of the town. In addition, Lauren’s parents need to be held accountable for not forcing Lauren’s sister to own up to fracturing the family. Did it end up okay for Lauren in the end? Yes but that doesn’t matter. I ended up hoping that the epilogue would reveal that the ex-fiancé cheated on Lauren’s sister because he’s that type of man. Like I said, I’m bloodthirsty.

This is a contemporary romance that takes place in New York and Massachusetts. Both of the main characters are successful and career driven. I have enjoyed this series and I will definitely read more from these authors in the future.

4.25stars-JUST A LITTLE CHASE is the fourth instalment in the contemporary, adult DARE CROSSOVER / BACHELOR AUCTION erotic, romance series co-authored by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. This is Corporate Financial Advisor Chase Gossard, and Events Coordinator Lauren Connelly’s story line. JUST A LITTLE CHASE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: The DARE cross over series is interconnected with the authors’ KINGSTON Family, DARE and DIRTY DARE series.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Lauren and Chase) JUST A LITTLE CHASE follows the fake relationship between our story line couple. Lauren Connelly needed a plus-one for her sister’s wedding, the sister who is about to marry Lauren’s ex fiancé. An invitation to a ‘bachelor auction’ finds Lauren bidding on Chase Gossard, the only remaining bachelor for the evening but Chase wants nothing to do with our story line heroine and attempts to buy his way out of a weekend alone. Desperate for a plus-one, Lauren all but threatens our story line hero who reluctantly agrees to one weekend together. What ensues is the fake but building relationship between Chase and Lauren, and the potential fall-out as their time together comes to a close.

The world building focuses on Chase’s heart breaking past; the mother he barely knew, and the sister of whom he recently discovered. Lauren’s heart break is mired in betrayal by the two most important people in her life, but Lauren sees the betrayal as an opportunity to find something new.

The relationship between Lauren and Chase begins acrimoniously. Chase doesn’t do relationships, wants nothing to do with a weekend away, but Lauren is determined to face the family with Chase by her side. The $ex scenes are erotic, and impassioned without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Lauren’s parents Dale and Penny, as well as her sister Ashley, ex Greg, and Chase’s half-sister Billie.

JUST A LITTLE CHASE is a story of betrayal and forgiveness, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is heart warming and engaging; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are desperate and determined.

This was my favorite in this series so far!!

Lauren Connelly’s ex is marrying her sister, so she's FOR SURE not showing up without a date. But, she's very busy with work, and hasn't been dating lately, so she decides to buy a weekend with a man at a bachelor auction. Surely that will be perfect. No muss, no fuss, no emotional entanglement. She doesn't plan on Chase, though.

Chase Gossard is rooked into the bachelor auction by his sister, after her final planned bachelor gets the flu. He's a busy, successful man, and he has no interest in spending an entire weekend with a stranger. But Lauren is persistent, and honest, and he can't help but feel for her situation. He agrees to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend at her sister's wedding.

Lauren and Chase had chemistry like whoa, but they both decided nothing would happen between them. Later though, Lauren has a change of heart and orchestrates an only-one-bed situation on their trip. No reason they can't enjoy themselves even though they likely won't see each other again after their weekend away. It ends up being far more than either of them expected.

They really help each other work through their respective issues, and they show up for each other in so many important ways. A weekend together changes their lives for the better, but what do you do when all these big feelings weren't a part of the plan??

For a shorter story that went about the way I thought it would, I REALLY loved it. Lauren and Chase were wonderful characters, and I loved their dynamic. They were so HOT together, and the book also made me cry, twice. So that's a solid 5 Star story for me! This series has been fun, and a great way to catch up with some much loved side characters from earlier stories. I can't wait for the next one!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given.

*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*

Lauren Connelly needs a date for her sister’s wedding to Lauren’s ex. More of a fake boyfriend, who will dote on her in front of her family and show them that she’s really okay with her ex moving on with her sister. The non-profit Future Fast Track for Foster Kids Charity Bachelor Auction that she’s working on as an Event Coordinator for the Meridian Hotel may just be the key.

But when the bachelor that Lauren had decided to bid on got sick, she had no choice but to try for on his replacement. Chase Gossard wanted to be anywhere but, on that stage, up for auction, but he just couldn’t say no to his little sister, Billie, who works for the charity said auction is raising money for. Instead, he stood up there with such a sour look on his face, he was sure he would scare everyone off and then just make a sizable donation anyway. But that didn’t sway Lauren, and she got him for a song.

And when he found out that it was for an entire weekend, Chase wanted nothing to do with it or her. Especially after finding out she wanted him to be her plus-one in her hometown at her sister’s wedding. Yet again, Lauren stood her ground and called Chase on his bluster by threatening to tell his sister that he was trying to renege on his commitment to the charity.

Lauren made sure they spent some time together, interweaving a story to tell her family, while learning something about one another so they could pull this off. By the time they pulled into her hometown, you could just feel the attraction between Chase and Lauren. However, Chase isn’t a relationship guy and Lauren’s not really looking to get into one either. But you know what they say about best laid plans…

Grumpy vs Sunshine, One Bed, Fake Relationship, Close Proximity, Dirty Talking Hero… I’m not sure which trope is my favorite. I’m here for all of them. I have a feeling that this may be the end of this great Bachelor Auction series, but never the end for the besties that write such amazing stories together. I can’t wait to see what they tantalize us with next!

This is book four in A Dare Crossover Novel and it is Lauren and Chase’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Lauren is in a difficult position because when her fiancé cheated on her with her sister Lauren decided not to reveal the truth because of her family but now she had received a wedding invitation and knows that if she goes alone things will become difficult and uncomfortable especially as no one knows of the betrayal that she had suffered so now she needs to find a fake boyfriend to go to the wedding with her and she had the perfect solution. Chase is convinced by his sister to be a stand in at the bachelor charity auction and he is unable to say no to her and when Lauren bids and wins she asks him to go to the wedding with her as her plus one but Chase doesn’t do relationships of any kind even if it is fake so he tries hard to bribe Lauren but she is stubborn and he has to give in because she paid for the privilege of his company for the weekend and she didn’t give him any other choice so he ended up helping her not knowing that it was about to change both of there lives. The attraction and chemistry between Chase and Lauren is so strong that they are unable to deny it and when they decide to give into it they are totally explosive but Chase is determined to walk away after the weekend is over because of the baggage he still carried from his past where as Lauren is determined to move forward with her life after everything that she had been through but what will the outcome be in the end for them. Wow this book certainly takes you on a rollercoaster ride of so many emotions with what they had both been through especially Chase and I read it in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down as the story pulled you in and kept you turning the pages to see what happened next and it was so addictive and kept my attention throughout the whole book. This book is definitely worth reading and you will not be disappointed.

Lauren Connelly's little sister Ashley is getting married to Greg, Lauren's ex-fiance. The last thing that Lauren wants to do is show up at the wedding dateless so she gets the brilliant idea to bid on one of the bachelors at the Future Track charity bachelor auction where she would win one weekend of their time. Since the wedding is in Fairview, Massachusetts instead of New York City Lauren thought this would be the perfect solution. Lauren decides on the bachelor Neil Pierson who is the last bachelor auctioned off. Much to her surprise, Neil isn't there but instead in his place is a gorgeous but grumpy executive named Chase Gossard. Having no choice she bids on Chase. Of course Chase has no desire to be involved in the auction but is doing it as a favor for his half-sister Billie.

When Chase meets Lauren and she informs him that she needs to act the part of doting boyfriend at her sister's birthday out of town, he is not happy. He tries multiple ways of getting out of it but Lauren doesn't care and she calls him on it. Reluctantly Chase agrees.

As Lauren and Chase start to get to know each other before the wedding, he finds that he actually like the sweet and charming Lauren. By the time they get to Fairview, Chase starts to realize that there may to more to this "fake" relationship than he thought. By the end of the weekend, many lines have been crossed and this fake relationship is starting to look very real. Too bad they agreed to it being over by the end of the weekend once they got back to New York City because Chase does not do relationships. Of course after a few days apart, and a whole lot of inner reflecting, smarter heads prevail and Chase and Lauren get their real happy ever after.

I just loved this steamy, sunshine/grumpy love story. Chase had a few skeletons in his closet but deep down he was a really great guy and he just needed the positivity that Lauren brought to the table to bring it out of him. I loved their banter throughout the story and could not put this book down. Great addition to this fun series.
