"Life would go on, And I would be strong, But now I'm just Letting Go..." After the disastrous final American Superstar show, Lennon's world is plunged into darkness. Camila had left her, her parents disowned her, and the online smear campaign had her locked inside her apartment. Struggling to keep her head above water, Lennon realizes she has to fake it until she makes it—no matter how hard that would be.
Still reeling from the abrupt dumping by Camila and trying her best to move on, Lennon throws herself into reviving her career and writing a hit album, all the while trying to hold together the heartbreak at the rejection of her parents and the loss of Camila.
Shattered by her decision in New York to save Lennon's career, Camila continues to battle the fallout while trying to come to terms with her own demons, all while struggling to decide if the life of a performer is something she wants anymore.
Realizing she made a grave mistake in leaving Lennon, Camila sets out to win back the one person who understood her most in the world while healing the darker parts of her soul.
The final instalment in the American Superstar series.
4.5 stars! Such a very captivating book #3 of this elating 'American Superstar' series. After being deeply hurt in book #2, Ms. Paris now focus more on each (Lennon & Camila) reflecting on all the past family painful issues that made them into these flawed characters -- then began the steps of trying to heal and move forward in forgiving each other. There are lots of writers out here who can suck you in every time they chronicle their leading characters interact with first they have eye contact from across any room, then they flirt, start kissing in so many ways, get excited, be intimate which leads to making love anywhere, anyhow and anytime. Well, Shay Paris is one of those kinda writers --- her characters do have chemistry and she also develops her secondary ones to have their own side stories plus intermingle with everyone through out the storyline. Overall, this is also well-paced and well written. Highly recommended book and series!
The final instalment focuses on Carmen making amends and trying to win back Lennon’s affection after realising that the ‘sacrifices’ she gallantly made when she walked out of Lennon’s life in book 2 didn’t exactly pan out as she thought it would. Of course, our 2 MCs got the HEA but it was left late into the second half of the book.
The next book in the series will focus on a different couple, and how Book 3 ended has left me intrigued. I can't wait to read the next instalment.
4/5 Another banger.God how much I loved this series for no accurate reason.
What I did not love was the songs???like I know it's an singer books, but don't give me the lyrics they created, in my head it's always sucks and cringe.
And that epilogue, everything was sooo good????like that was such an unnecessary ending honestly
Lennon dumped by Camila, said it was not real to save Lennon. Her parents drop her as well: "The Bible is so clear on homosexuality, Mary! You have been raised on the laws of God! You know what you have done is a despicable sin in God's eyes!"
Camila dumped the love of her life to get out of the scandal as advised, wanted to protect Lennon, a career and a chance to be herself, doing the right thing. Such a stupid action and she did not even talk to Lennon before she acted.
Lennon completely crushed but must try to find the strength to rebuild her life without Camila and her parents. After a month she has the strength to try again but she is so angry with Camila, hates her for what she did. Decides she will try to make it so big that everyone who ever screwed her would regret it. Her BFF and manager Jessie is a fantastic support.
Camila is in pain, she misses Lennon so much, but she knows she is too good for her. She works on her biography, and we find out about more about her horrible mom and childhood. She decides to move back to LA and find a way back into Lennon's life, somehow.
A Swedish song on the playlist for the book: Zara Larsson’s Ruin My Life, one I know very well. Works perfectly with the vibe in the book.
Camila wonders is winning her back even an option, had made ger life harder, not better as intended.
So much angst but thanks to forced proximity in Grace’s house over Christmas they reconnect, and they start working towards making a relationship possible and the HEA they both deserve.
The book ends with a spoiler for a spinoff book about Gracie and Ashley, Forget Me Not. I really hope that will be published soon; I need more stories from Shay Paris!

To my angst loving girlies: PLEASE READ THIS SERIES!
There were definitely times where I was pulling my hair and saying "ahhhh come oooon just get together and be happy" but I feel like considering the circum stances the angst wasn't superficial and made up and unrealistic. Yes, both of the MCs had waaaay too much to unpack, and at times I wishes at least one of them was somewhat okay but I fell in love with this series just as hard as Lennon and Camila fell in love with each other.
I'm already preparing for the book hangover I'm about to have after reading these 3 books in 3 days but the dip in the mood about to come was definitely worth it.
The only issue I had with this is I kinda wish that they got together sooner in book3, because I would've liked to see them together dealing with Lennon's new career and drama-free and happy. But I did get the gratification at the end, they are just too cute.
I'm definitely reading the next book of the author about Gracie and Ashley. Love you, thank you🩵
I really enjoyed each of the books in this three part series of Lennon and Camila. After their affair was outed on national tv during the final American Superstar show, the two went through so much independently for many months before they could begin to heal and find each other once again. It was quite an emotional ride for this reader as well. Neither of them had families that supported them, but found families with the friends they had chosen.
I was drawn to these books because of my love of music and my fondness for The Voice and American Idol. However, I may be looking at the shenanigans on those shows a little differently now! I hope to read many more books from this author in the future because I love her emotional writing style. It makes me feel. And the beautiful music lyrics... wow! What a great trilogy!
Perhaps better than any other. The emotional ride with Camila and Lennon was traumatic yet beautiful.
I read the first two books so long ago that I couldn’t read the third without re-reading the first. I remembered it as I was reading, but I’m so happy to get all 3 books completed.
I kept thing of American Superstar as a combination of American Idol, X Factor, and The Voice. I think we are all beginning to realize that reality tv is trash tv. I still watch because I love music, just not the silly antics that put pressure on the contestants.
I really enjoyed this series of stories, at first annoying that they ended in cliffhangers, but now finished the 3rd I wasn't disappointed. OMG wait, A 4th is promised, continuing on with the other characters we have come to love. So well written I was fully engaged in the show biz lives not to mention the vile influence of social media it's pretty up to date, I look forward to book 4 and really recommend reading these so enjoyable.
OK, I'm yet again left with a cliffhanger, but at least this time it's not about Lennon and Camila... Honestly, I was super ready for these series to finish, because I read the first 2 almost one year ago, and the way book 2 ended was ... welllll... major cliffhanger! Happy for the closure for these ladies. Also: Can't ask for a better beach read. Or hospital read, as was my case for the first two.
Gripping romance that you have to complete. Being a trilogy, you need to read it in order and you need to complete the series but it's worth it. Gorgeous characters, great dreams and smoking hot steamy scenes.
Lots of flashbacks in this one, which I suspect were needed if you read them months apart, but as I read the three consecutively I found myself skipping over bits. No harm there though.
I was waiting for this book to know what happened after the end of the 2nd one and this book didn’t disappoint me at all. Wonderful story about second chances, love, hurt with so many feelings. Beautifully written with real characters, emotional dialogues and wonderful scene descriptions. And the end is ……how long we need to wait?
One of the best books I have ever read for a long time, from Set The Stage, Time To Shine to Drop The Mic. Camila & Lennon’s story will forever be one of my favorites! And I am so happy they got their HEA, looking forward to more of your work Shay! You are one of the best authors of WLW for me.
Wow, what a trilogy. When I finished reading book one I was a little irritate. But now that I have finished reading all the books I can see why each had ended the way they did. Stay, Congratulations on a beautifully put together story. I loved the characters they were awesome. Now, are you able to get Lennon and Camila to record those songs for me please?
Wrapped it all up with a hea for the MCs with some reasonable amount of angst along the way, loved the themes of found family, owning choices, and of course the same house troop :)
I loved this series (the first 3 book at the moment of writing this review). It's a slow burn story, and I would say the main arc is not finished until the end of the 3rd book, but it still finishes with a cliffhanger, where you can't wait to get to the next book.
In this final book of the trilogy, Lennon and Camilla have broken up in the wake of the scandal that broke in the American Superstar finale. Camilla has convinced Lennon that her feelings weren't real and Lennon is heartbroken and falls into a deep depression. But Camilla, who realizes the error she's made, is determined to win her back. Most of the book focuses on that.
Now that the show is over, we are spared a lot of the details we had to read through in books 1 and 2. There's a lot for these two women to have to work through, both with regard to their relationship, their careers and their own histories. All of that is dealt with in this book.
It's a bit too long and there are some lengthy sex scenes, even before the two are reunited (they are memories recalled). But overall, a decent finish to the trilogy.
Three part series following the two pop singer main characters. This one in the aftermath of a reality show singer contest. Great story with both MCs having unsupportive parents and other roadblocks. Book one and book three (this one) were fantastic. Book two was good.
This was a very satisfying conclusion to Lennon and Camila’s story. There was less of the performing in this installment, though they wrote a lot of lyrics about each other and what they went through. And, there was a lot of wrap-up of things left open in prior books, including both their families. There was a lot of new information revealed on Camila’s youth, in particular, that cast some things in a different light.
So… it’s hard to consider this as an individual book. The show tour was over, meaning fewer performances, and since I ate that all up in the previous books, that was a bit of a bummer. On the other hand, so many stories came to satisfying (if not always purely happy) conclusions, it was wonderful to work through all that. Plus the relationship drama was finally worked out, though as others have noted it was late enough that there wasn’t a lot of happy-together time with new career directions and etc. Hopefully the next book will have enough Lennon and Camilla to satisfy that a bit more?
All in all, this is easily my favorite sapphic trilogy, and that includes some others that seemed to be pretty hyped. (Late 2024 Update: now I have to admit Grace Notes is a contender.) It was angsty without being just egregiously painful, I loved the characters, none of the events seemed like “filler,” I was satisfied with how the storylines wrapped up, and like I’ve said, I really really loved the touring and performing over the course of the whole thing. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this before!
Definitely looking forward to Gracie and Ashley’s story!
