A hot, hilarious fresh start! Nora’s forties begin with a bang…or rather, a crash.
What’s worse than bumping into a parked motorcycle and tipping it over?
Easy. It’s bumping into a motorcycle, tipping it over, and sending it crashing into an entire row of bikes like horrible, slow-motion dominos.
What’s even worse than that?
Nora knows the answer. It’s when the first motorcycle in the row belongs to the hottest man in a hundred-mile radius, and he watches the whole thing happen.
Lee Blair looks like he wants to pop her head off her shoulders like a champagne cork. Saying “oopsie daisy” doesn’t calm him down. Go figure.
Safe to say, Nora’s not having a great day. Her fresh start isn’t exactly going to plan.
When she gets the bill for her mistake, she nearly breaks down. In order to pay it off, she’ll have to move back in with her mother and beg for her old job back. It’s every forty-one-year-old woman’s dream…not.
Until Lee offers her a solution. He’ll take on the debt and let her pay it off over time…if she agrees to work for him.
Lilian Monroe lives in a luxurious jungle treehouse surrounded by lush greenery, with an army of scantily-clad men with rippling abdominal muscles ready to attend to her every need.
No, wait. That's not true.
Lilian Monroe spends her days dangling her feet into her pool, while a scantily-clad pool boy with rippling abdominal muscles feeds her chocolate-covered strawberries and massages her back.
Okay, okay. You got me. That's not true, either. Let's try again.
Lilian Monroe lives at home with her two children, three dogs, and twelve chickens. Her husband likes to work shirtless in the back yard. His sweaty, gleaming abdominal muscles ripple with every movement and he—
I'm sorry. I have to stop. Fine, I'll admit it. That one isn't true either.
How about this: Lilian Monroe loves thinking about men with rippling abdominal muscles serving her hand and foot, and she wants you to think about them too! She is an avid reader, writer, and lover of all things romance.
She loves everything from bad boys to billionaires. Her books are packed with sizzling-hot heat, action, suspense, and everything from second chances to single dads. She hates cheating and loves a good happily ever after (and rippling abs).
DNF @ 20% I just couldn't get past the premise of her paying for the damage on the motorcycles. Insurance would have covered all of that. It was an accident. That is the purpose of insurance. If the motorcycle owners didn't have insurance, that is not her fault, either. So, the whole time she's struggling to resign herself to starting over because she has to fork over her house down payment and then starts working to pay off the debt a little of her paycheck at a time (c'mon, it would take YEARS to pay off nearly 30K that way), I just couldn't buy into the plot.
I wish these two the best of luck, I'm sure getting to their HEA is a fun ride. I wish I could have suspended my disbelief to go along.
I’d like to move to Heart’s Cove when I grow up! It’s one of my favorite fictional small towns, filled with some of my favorite fictional characters.
In 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗠𝗠𝗔, Nora and Lee get their happily ever after and it was an incredible journey of self discovery for both of them. I found myself glued to my kindle and could not get enough of their special connection.
If you enjoy your romance laced with sexy times and self discovery , 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗠𝗠𝗔 is the perfect choice for you. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
This book was an intriguing read but a fantastic story. This later in life contemporary story starts shocking but ends up becoming a slow-burn workplace, forced proximity romance. The male Lee is swoony, sweet, and all alpha male. Nora is a basket case of complicated decisions and past damage. They both end up in a small town like no other, with unexpected circumstances bringing them together and chemistry bringing them closer. I love that the author embraced characters in their forties and surrounded them with friends, family, and love. I do kind of wish Lee was more of a bad boy as the setup was there but not embraced.
Nora had an oops that will cost her big; property damage is no joke even if she was startled and it was an accident. She has just moved to Hearts Cove and couldn't wait to make this small-town home. Lee, the sexiest man, a bad boy biker, happens to turn her libido to mush.
Lee isn't sure what to do with the insane protective instinct he has been burned before. But he takes his gallantry seriously and sacrifices his time to help Nora.
Okay, this must be someone's dream cause in what world does a bad boy biker cancel a debt with an arrangement? I can't wait to see what happens in this dreamy story.
Omg, the gossip in this small town and, of course, the ladies are a riot. Nora is a brave woman exploring her fantasies, even if it is on her own. We also get Georgia's point of view. She is in a different walk than Nora but still thriving as she embraces her freedom and choices.
I like the depth of the characters the authors brings to this story. We get to understand how their minds work, reasoning, and past scars that dictate how they act now. Both Nora and Lee are damaged but not beyond repair, they haven't lived easy lives, but their struggles have made them perfect for each other.
This author lets them go all the way and satisfies their intense chemistry. That scene was sweet, deliberate, and oh so hot. I love that he doesn't give up even amid the chaos, instead stepping up and proving how much he cares. This book ended delightfully with a happy for now ending.
Read this one out of order, as my library had a 22-week wait for its predecessor! At this point, I pretty much know the characters in Heart’s Cove and didn’t feel lost.
This one’s on-par with the rest of the series: super sweet, small town vibes, lovable ‘girls club’, chivalrous guys, gossipy old biddies … lots of ‘found family’ vibes and a mayor I loved to hate. (I’d love to see another read or even a short where he gets his! Just saying.)
Overall: 5 stars
Audio- Perfection! No hiccups, great performances.
Fun setup into the next one too, cannot wait to read on. Still a great series, 7 books in.
I liked the premise of this book, I liked the characters, and I liked the setting. But the story drags because there's just way too much angsty internal monologues for my taste. Cut that part by a third or even half, and we'd still get the point without getting bogged down in it. And I get introducing characters for the next book in the series, but having chapters from their point of view placed randomly in the story is jarring.
This book was not really what I was expecting. The characters were good and I liked the plot, but the story itself just was blah. This was supposed to be a comedy, but there was very little humor. Just a typical romance but more PG and no excitement or action at all. I was really disappointed.
I've read a lot of rom-coms in the past six months, but this book has, by far, the heroine with whom I identify most. I was cheering for Nora even when shaking my head at her stubborn attachment to perfection and control.
Nora Richter, younger sister of Fallon (chef at Four Cups Cafe in Hearts Cove, California, and Jen's fiance), has been taking care of herself and her widowed mother since her father's death. Fallon was imprisoned at the time for a crime he didn't commit, so Nora threw herself into the role of the good child who does everything right and can be depended on. It's a role I've taken on, myself, and I know what kind of pressure it puts on the person who wears it, even if it's taken on willingly.
The one time Nora lets herself go on a visit to Hearts Cove, she knocks over a line of fourteen motorcycles outside a biker bar and causes a quarter million dollars worth of damage, even with several of the bikers doing their own repairs. However, Lee Blair, the handsome biker whose motorcycle was the first to go down, is impressed by Nora's courage in taking responsibility for the accident--and apologizing to a bar full of potentially furious bikers with muscles and tattoos--and offers her a part-time job to work off her debt. His business publicizes an arts festival, and while art is not his strong suit it's in Nora's area of expertise, and an arts festival is much more interesting to her than the legal subjects she worked on at her previous job, which she quit when she moved to Hearts Cove. Quitting a job without having another lined up? Moving to a new town where she knows no one but her estranged brother? None of this sounds like a sensible plan to me... and it's a "what was I thinking" plan for Nora...but she felt stuck in her old life, safe and orderly though it was, and this is her declaration of independence!
Working with Lee is an exercise in torture because , as her boss, he's off limits--and way too attractive to her to avoid him. The ups and downs, ins and outs of their relationship, both in the office and out of it, form the rest of the book as they prepare for the annual Fringe Festival, the key event for Lee's company and--subplot alert--one the mayor is delaying by withholding necessary permits until Lee comes to his wedding... with Lee's former fiancee, who left him at the altar and landed in the arms of the mayor. It's cheap revenge, but the festival is important enough to Lee that he announces he's going to attend--with Nora as his plus-one.
The other major subplot involves the arrival of the artist being honored at that year's festival. He happens to be an old flame of Georgia, the gorgeous divorcee who bought an extremely expensive waterfront house from realtor Rudy and flirted with him out of habit. She never had any intentions toward Rudy, but that artist is bound to win her back despite their messy breakup nearly twenty years earlier. The post-Epilogue chapter in Georgia's voice hints at a sequel starring her and the Texas cowboy who won her heart and ruined her life.
Back to Nora, my doppelganger. Her romance with Lee is as good as announced to the entire town (small towns like Hearts Cove make it impossible to keep a secret!) and Lee wants her to hand the honorary plaque to the artist during the upcoming opening ceremony, when her phone rings. Her mother has fallen, broken her hip, and been taken into surgery. The old Nora rises up and blames the new Nora for allowing herself to stop paying her mother's medical insurance and for buying a house with mortgage payments she thinks she can no longer afford. She goes far enough on her guilt trip to call Lee and tell him she can't see him anymore. Nora, what are you thinking NOW?
I loved Nora, liked Lee a lot, and even found myself sympathizing with other, more minor characters like Nora's mother Prisha and Fallon's fiancee Jen. Lillian Monroe's characters stayed with me through the entire story, and they will probably stay with me through the rest of the series!
I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dirty Little Midlife Dilemma to anyone who struggles with perfectionism, is a control freak (or a recovering one), or has ever wondered what would happen if you just let go. Nora would tell you that the world won't fall apart. And then she'd kiss Lee!
I wasn't really a bad story. But I really have to say Nora irritated the heck out of me. I mean it's a comedy. I only found comedy maybe in 1st chapter. I'm a med to fast burn person and this so not only slow burn but incredibly slow burn. I wanted to stop reading because there wasn't any romance til toward the end. The while book of denying. And also I would of told the mayor off even after the wedding. I would if made it 100% clear I wanted nothing to do with a man who blackmailed me to attend his wedding only for appearance. He couldn't of been the confidant if he just had to Lee there. As soon as I got the permits I would tell him just where he could jump off a cliff and made the people of town knkw he blackmailed him by holding the permits over there heads. I mean he was a crapy best friend stealing his fiance but blackmailing him after all that too. Purposely both rubbing it into his face. He would of got told off same with her. Anyways back to Nora. I just thought she was rediculous. I get the damage of her ex but come on she saw 1st hand Lee wouldn't hurt her. It was because of him she had a job to pay back her mishap. Money to buy her house cause he saw what would happen if she had to pay everything at once so he made an arrangement with her and had never been anything other then a gentleman. I thought her constant battle was rediculous. But I do get me can be like that. It just wasn't for me. And I'm not saying not to read this book or series cause everyone has their own taste but Nora ruined it for me along with the extra slow burn. Romance I expect to be romance. There really wasn't til 3/4, the book ending. Not a bad story but I was bored. But I dont like not finishing a book I started so I finished not bad of you like those super slow burn and romance at the end of the book. I like to see people happy atleast half way through the book. So they have time together. The ending was a bit abrupt too. I would of like to see a future in epilog like marriage or even a child since she wanted to have kids. This is just my opinion only
Dirty Little Midlife Dilemma Book #7 Lee and Nora Small town, couple in their 40’s, office romance
Sometimes you just have to lean into the turns life throws your way. I really liked this book. It’s a bit different than the others in the series and that’s a good thing.
Nora. Fallon’s younger sister. Starting over after her divorce. New in town, getting to know her brother again, making new friends. A huge new debt she has to pay off and no job. Enter Lee. Owns one of the bikes she damaged. Is willing to take on her debt and let her owe him. Offers her a job working for him. Has been attracted to her since he first saw her. Both Lee and Nora have had their hearts broken by those who were supposed to love them. They don’t date often, and rarely trust the opposite sex. But their chemistry is off the charts, and their attraction to each other is hard to deny. They work well together. Nora is the missing piece their team has needed. I loved both of these characters. There was not the usual, overwhelming inner monologues about why they can’t do what their doing. It’s still there, but not nearly as much. There was not the constant back and forth of emotions. I loved watching their relationship build. They start with the business arrangement, then become friends and when Nora is ready, they cross that line. And of course you have that obligatory third act breakup, when Nora gets in her head and overreacts. But fortunately Lee doesn’t let her get away with that. He chases her down and sets her straight. It really wasn’t that bad. I loved that. As always the side characters are hilarious. And we’re are reintroduced to Georgia who had a tiny role in the last book, but seems destined for her own story when the Texas hottie shows up in town. The whole premise for the story is a bit hard to buy, I’m sure insurance would have taken care of most of the repairs. And I’m not sure how much Lee is paying her, but I want a job where you can pay down a thirty thousand dollar debt in several months. Not really believable, but necessary for the story. Multiple points of view. No cheating. I would read the series in order.
I have seen this series in various ads and book groups, but didn’t dive in until this one. I think the idea of accidentally knocking down 14 motorcycles was so delicious I couldn’t pass it up 😂 And it was great.
Nora is 41 years old and 8 years post divorce, and finally ready to start her “do over” in Heart’s Cove. Her dad died when she was young and her mom was overwhelmed with grief. Nora and her brother Fallon reacted in opposite manners- he became reckless and she became regimented and Type A by the books. After ten years with her worthless soul sucking husband she finally divorced him, but still has scars years later.
Lee is basically perfection. He was destroyed when his fiancée left him at the alter and then slept with his best friend that night, but he knew when he saw Nora that he needed her in his life. When she knocks over 14 motorcycles domino style, he comes to her rescue to help and offers her a deal to work for him to help pay off the damage.
Overall, this book was great and I love the world enough that I’ll go back and read the other books. Nora was annoying at times with her obsession with control, like that they officially dated for a month and had make out sessions but she felt things were “moving too fast” to sleep together. She was 41 years old and 8 years from her divorce (so it wasn’t a fresh split) - just seemed weird imo. Lee was a saint though and let her control it all. Her reaction to her moms injury seemed overly dramatic and unbelievable as well, but again Lee was a saint and things worked out. It would have been nice to see some karma come for Lee’s ex and his ex best friend, but that’s just because I’m petty like that 😏
I’m really enjoying this series. All about people over 40 navigating life’s changes and relationships.
Nora is Fallon, from book five’s sister. She just moved to Hearts Cove after divorcing and then quitting her job. The women from this series have bonded & formed their little group that gets together weekly for a girl's night, and they have invited Nora to join them out at a bar. When she arrives at the bar, she sees a row of motorcycles and is fascinated by them and when she gets closer to inspect them, she bumps one causing a domino effect and as if in slow motion she watches them all fall. Not that she would try to flee the scene but the owner of the first bike in the row of bikes witnesses the whole thing. She met him previously and already finds him to be the most handsome man in town but he’s large and a bit intimidating.
Lee Blair is Mac’s brother from book four. Even though Lee is shocked and disturbed by his damaged bike he is quick to come to her rescue when the other bikers file out of the bar and see that their bikes are also damaged.
Even though Nora has been saving for years after her divorce so that she can purchase a home to start fresh now her savings is going to have to pay for repairs of all the motorcycles that are damaged. Again, Lee is there to offer his assistance by offering her a job. He really needs the help & she needs a job so it should be a win win.
This book was interesting, entertaining and sexy. I also like how all of these books have other POV’s thrown in occasionally from completely different characters. It is somewhat setting up interest for the next book.
I feel like I say this for every release in this series, but these books just keep getting better!
Nora is Fallon’s sister who just moved to town, and Lee is Mac’s brother. After an incident with a group of motorcycles, Lee comes to Nora’s rescue and she has to work with him to pay him back. You would think the story would be somewhat predictable, but BOY! Would you be wrong!
I love how this series doesn’t include the typical game playing that you would get in many romantic comedies. What you do get, is heroines with a backbone, who have already been through the ringer once and know what they want out of life. No Wilting flowers here! The men in their lives are real life Prince Charming’s, supporting their better halves in the ways that they want to be supportive, without overstepping, or when they do, it’s quickly corrected. The issues that they face are real- world (or real-world adjacent) enough to be relatable with characters in an age bracket that doesn’t leave me feeling like I’m reading something that should be in a YA section.
Lilian Monroe started off being one of my favorite authors with her Royally Unexpected Series, and since I have read pretty much all of her books. This series, is my favorite and I love watching the characters expand throughout it. I look forward to watching it grow.
I really enjoyed Nora and Lee’s book. They were a perfectly matched couple and their story was gripping. After shared glances and always passing but never meeting each other they finally do and it is not how Lee wanted the introduction to go. Their introduction leads to circumstances that creates for an interesting dynamic that they struggle to navigate but with it and their growing feelings the tension grows. Lilian does a wonderful job of creating tension and it had me on the edge of my seat multiple times. I was racing through the book as I needed these two to finally give in to what they were feeling.
I couldn’t get enough of them as couple they brought out different sides to one another and it was such joy to read about. Both Nora and Lee are scarred by the past and left with the belief that they can’t trust their hearts with anyone. After properly meeting one another they wait for the panic and fear to set in but it never does. As their feelings grew they may have become a little terrified of how deeply and quickly it happened but it was coupled with the awareness that what they felt was right. Therefore they were content.
I enjoy this series so much. I love that the characters are older and the stories feel real. Nora and Lee have become one of my top couples and I looking forward to the next one.

I rated this book as 3 stars because it's not even close to being a romcom. I think it comes down to the way it's packaged and sold.... Heart's Cove stories are sweet and all the women are awesome. Are there funny moments across the series, yes. This one...not so much.
Nora is new to town. She knocks over a bunch of motorcycles, which is cringey and awful and I felt so badly for her. The damage is somehow not covered by insurance (though I have no idea how that isn't a thing in the story, at least to go into why it's not a thing) and Lee, her swoonworthy crush ends up covering the debt and giving her a job.
Now, there's an Italian saying that roughly translates to "Don't shit where you eat." Nora know lusts after her boss, to whom she also owes a debt.
But here's the thing... how exactly does Lee afford to cover this debt? We don't know. His job can't possibly pay that well.... so he's just.... rolling in it? I don't know, that seemed weird.
There's a lot of angsty internal monologuing in this one that could have been edited down.
Otherwise, it's a sweet story. There is a third act freak out that felt both realistic and sad and made me wonder if Nora had really changed as much as I thought she had.
This was probably one of the lowest rated books in the series for me. It was okay, but I had a really hard time connecting with the characters.
First, the whole premise of Nora paying for the bikes out of pocket is ridiculous. There's a thing called insurance these days...
And who has nearly $30k that they can pay off in less than a year making the small salary she made? Lee himself said they had a small budget, so yeah, that also wasn't believable.
For this one, I think the author just did poor research and came up with a completely unbelievable plot.
That said, I liked Lee. He was sweet and not the gruff guy I expected. I mean he works for the French Festival lol. Nora is where I struggled. She was always trying to martyr herself and it became soooo annoying after the fifty-eleventh time she got into her head about her having to take responsibility for every little thing remotely related to her. She really needed to go to therapy for all those issues related. At least Lee didn't let her run too far when she gets scared and tries to once again give up her life to make someone else's just a tad bit better (maybe).
Wish I had more nice things to say, but this one just didn't do it for me and I was pretty bored.
Another amazing book was written by Lilian Monroe. I am addicted to Heart Cove's series and right now I am in love with Lee Blair. Nora is a smart, funny, kind woman who decided to change her life and take an impulsive attitude and move to Heart Cove. She spent all her life worried about her mom and the others and suddenly she realized that it was time to look after herself. It´s not an easy decision and a careless move (literally speaking) makes havoc in her life and of course in her bank account. She was going to take a step back, but there was a handsome biker willing to help her. Lee Blair is a thoughtful guy and of course a knight in shining armor (in this case a motorcycle) that will support her. Who doesn't want to be pampered and loved? Nora will learn about those feelings. New beginnings. A deal, a friendship, a desire and a strong connection that they can't control. When they find each other, it results in an extremely powerful story of love and resilience. The book is not so unpredictable, but it is a good love story.
This book is awesome! The next chapter of the Heart’s Cove saga and it’s Nora and Lee’s turn. She’s Fallon’s sister and determined to start her life over in Heart’s Cove. An incident outside the local bar on her first Girl’s Night Out will have her fearful that her dreams will never happen. In steps Lee. He makes it possible for her to stay in town and make reparations for the incident. The chemistry between the two is off the charts but she’s nervous about coming out of her shell and taking a chance. But Lee gets her and it’s wonderful the way he lets her take control over how their relationship develops. Things get really good between them but a family emergency threatens to derail Nora’s new found freedom. But Lee is there to pick her up and carry her through the tough times and it will allow them to get their happily ever after.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Nora moves to town looking for a fresh start and keeps seeing Lee when she is out and about and the attraction is instant. Nora’s main priority is getting a job and settling in to town, not falling under the spell of the hot biker. When she accidentally causes tens of thousands of pounds of damage to a lot of motorbikes Lee offers to help her out. If she works for him on the Fringe Festival he will pay the cost to fix the bikes and she can pay him back. Working together seemed like a good idea, but they both keep fantasising about each other. They become closer and the more time they spend together the stronger the attraction and feelings become. Nora is very wary, always having been organised and sensible and Lee has had a bad break up the past which still haunts him so they both have their issues. But as you would expect with this series they get their HEA with a lot of laughter, love, passion and friendship thrown in.
I honestly loved it. Lee and Nora are on journey of overthinking and copious internal monologues that I strongly connected to; I have a soft spot for over-thinkers. It is common in Romance novels for the MCs to allow miscommunication to drive them apart at about 75-80% of the book. It was a breath of fresh air to see the MMC rise above that, follow the FMC and ask for clarification instead of closing off around a bunch of assumptions; very mature behavior. The 🌶 was of the slow burn type but it was worth the wait.
I initially disliked how some parts of internal monologues were repeated, especially from Nora; then I realized that this is exactly what over-thinkers do. My only gripe is that Lee was advertised as a “bad boy”; but he is a total cinnamon roll. And I am not mad at that; on the contrary, maybe we should be more open towards Macho bikers being also glasses wearing office managers and total softies on the inside.
Let me start out by saying I am a huge fan of all the books in Lilian Monroe’s Dirty Little Midlife series. They each are uniquely steamy, sweet, funny and fantastic stories. The characters are well developed and a breath of fresh air. All the stories include a love story between two 40ish year olds finding love. The latest story in this series introduces you to Lee & Nora. My favorite thing about is that it’s the patience Lee has for Nora as she navigates adjusting to her new life in a new town. Months before her move to Heart Cove, Nora and Lee’s instant attraction to each other is evident. But when they are thrust together due to an unfortunate accident that lands them on opposite sides, they’re chemistry will sizzle as they work together toward an acceptable solution for each party. I highly recommend this entire series and all of Lilian Monroe’s books.
I really love this series by Lilian Monroe. The books may be stand-alone romances but their character connections and story thread of true friendships, support, love, and middle-aged women pull you in and make you want to move to Heart's Cove. I really want to be part of the gang. Ladies' night seems like something no one should miss!
Dirty Little Midlife Dilemma is Nora and Lee's story. Nora is Fallon's sister and Lee is Mac's brother (another a hot motorbike rider). This is their story and not to be missed. The story unfolds beautifully, pulling you in. There are moments of laughter, and moments of despair, life is never perfect and Ms Monroe captures that brilliantly with this series.
This is a series I will return to again and again, it has a strong feel-good factor that is good for the soul!
This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.
I have never laughed harder during the beginning of a book. Tears were streaming down my face. I've always been nervous when walking past a row of motorcycles, parked all in a line just so. And this opening is exactly why. And then when Nora's friends get the video that just killed me again. That's exactly what my friends would do too. I thought this book was a perfect addition to this series to add some levity and laughter after a couple of more serious books.
Lee and Nora have a romance after she damages his and a bunch of other motorcycles. These two have been smoldering through the previous books so we knew that they were going to be amazing once their story was realized. I really liked how protective Lee was of Nora.
Lilian Monroe's book series pull me in and make me want to be enveloped by these friend groups.
Another great book in this series. Of course, because of all the previous stories, I was just anticipating what sabotage would happen to the relationship to cause the couple to break up, then get back together. Luckily this one is short-lived and it isn't a huge emotional rollercoaster like some of the others in the series (book 1 was almost traumatizing!)
I really liked the analogy that moments and memories in life can be like a snowglobe that can be taken off the shelf, looked at and re-experienced, reliving bad feelings and regret. But once you've moved on from what happened, it's just a memory on the shelf that you don't have to touch. It has to be a great romance with Nora for Lee to have given up looking at his left-at-the-altar snowglobe. He comes across as an emotionally strong person to be able to move on from his past that way.
I think Nora is every 40 year old woman who spent her entire younger self with the wrong person. The struggles from her childhood (loss of her parent) left her with a big hole and without a father figure. Fast forward to her twenties thinking she had to control everything by never losing control. All her decisions , including her husband were chosen to avoid being hurt. Lee had heartbreak himself and despite having trust issues couldn’t ignore his insane attraction to Nora. I liked that he was patient with her. I also liked that even though his ex was involved it was more about showing he moved on and the revelation he had. The ending was the best because it wasn’t drawn out, but simply he proved he never give up on her. Just a genuine book about second chances at finding love.
Nora's trying to get her life back on track after dealing with the finances after an awful divorce, she moves to the Cove to be closer to her brother and start anew. She goes to girls' night at the bar and accidentally knocks over a line of motorcycles and causes $30k worth of damage.
That's scary and sad enough, but her crush Lee is involved and it turns out he has a much of a crush on her as she on him and they spend a long time dancing around their feelings. He becomes her boss and she excels at her job.
The thing with Nora is that she's always played it safe, pretty much because her parents suck (see Fallon's backstory for family disfunction story.) and he's skittish because 3 yrs ago his fiance dumped him the day of their wedding and the hooked with his best friend and is now marrying him. Like ew.
So there's a lot of that drama. Which is what propels this story.
I’m really quite shocked at this one. I was excited for it. I couldn’t wait to see how things played out, but this one doesn’t really fit the series aside from the fact that it takes place in hearts cove, and it has all the people.
There wasn’t a lot of com to this “Rom-com”. While I like books that deal with serious issues, and I appreciate the fact that this dove into some of that, there was a lot of storyline missing for me. Or maybe I should say backstory .
Without giving things away, there’s a lot missing for me with Lee, and his jobs, and how time jumps with the wedding, the fringe festival and salary with payback. Hopefully that doesn’t give too much away, but I feel like I missed an entire book of full of details.
This has been my least favourite one, but I’m still continuing hoping the next one is better for me.
