Being a dog walker isn’t as glamorous as you might imagine. Unless, of course, you’re walking a tech billionaire’s German shepherd mix.
And when your grumpy, gorgeous, billionaire boss asks you to spend the evenings at his place to babysit his teenage niece, who are you to refuse? You think, what could possibly go wrong?
I’ll tell you what can go wrong: Your business implodes, your heart shatters, and you find out you’re carrying his baby.
I’m speaking from experience here. Don’t do it. Be smarter than I was, and run.
Grumpy vs. sunshine on steroids. This book is packed with banter, red-hot heat, and lots of dog-sized bow ties.
Lilian Monroe lives in a luxurious jungle treehouse surrounded by lush greenery, with an army of scantily-clad men with rippling abdominal muscles ready to attend to her every need.
No, wait. That's not true.
Lilian Monroe spends her days dangling her feet into her pool, while a scantily-clad pool boy with rippling abdominal muscles feeds her chocolate-covered strawberries and massages her back.
Okay, okay. You got me. That's not true, either. Let's try again.
Lilian Monroe lives at home with her two children, three dogs, and twelve chickens. Her husband likes to work shirtless in the back yard. His sweaty, gleaming abdominal muscles ripple with every movement and he—
I'm sorry. I have to stop. Fine, I'll admit it. That one isn't true either.
How about this: Lilian Monroe loves thinking about men with rippling abdominal muscles serving her hand and foot, and she wants you to think about them too! She is an avid reader, writer, and lover of all things romance.
She loves everything from bad boys to billionaires. Her books are packed with sizzling-hot heat, action, suspense, and everything from second chances to single dads. She hates cheating and loves a good happily ever after (and rippling abs).
Up to 30%, all that maybe-I-should and maybe-I-shouldn’t really tested my limits! Then, slowly the story piqued up and I managed to finish it. Not thrilled...
🌶🌶🌶/5 - not as good as the first two in the series BUT
Still really good actually! Yes there’s seggs scenes that are pretty good but as a whole I really loved Penny and Marcus’s relationship!
This one kind of annoyed me at first with how clueless the main character could be but she figures her stuff out and I ended up loving her character! It wasn’t about her being high powered or anything - they were just really cute together.
I totally guessed the ending but I was totally ok with that!l because I’m simultaneously reading a sad memoir and I kind of needed the levity/ romance 😂😂😂
- HEA ending - accidental pregnancy - grumpy/sunshine - big family/family drama 🎭 - **warning - this book talks about stalkers**
Penny Littleton has been a victim of an abusive boyfriend who after breaking up with him. He Stalks and terrorizes her. Eight years later she is a dog walker and designer of doggie cloths. Bear belongs to Marcus Walsh billionaire, who has repressed feelings for Penny.
This story is Boring and Slow!! the first part of the story is more about the dog Bear and Penny than Marcus and Penny. It takes to long for them to get together. Marcus is loving and caring. At first appears that Penny is loving and caring towards Marcus and Bear. But the first sign of trouble and she deserts Bear and doesn't walk him anymore. Dogs have feelings and abandonment issues!
Marcus is missing Penny and goes into the workshop in built for her and was just looking around when he sees her financial ledgers. Immediately he sees some discrepancies. Marcus investigates further only to find that Penny's long time business partner and best friend has been embezzling money of the top of their company.
This is when I just didn't like Penny, she leaves Marcus because she perceives him invading her privacy. I wanted scream at her you dumb ass!! This man who loves you just found out you were being lied too and money stolen from your company. Penny is mad and angry at Marcu!! She doesn't do anything to Brian her partner who has been stealing her money and lying to her. Of course, Marcus and Penny get there HEA but by the time they do I don't like Penny!! She acted like a fool!! This was a badly written heroine!!
I loved this book! It’s time for another billionaire’s story and it’s Marcus’s turn this time. His life will be turned upside down by his dog walker, Penny, and it’s a fantastic tale! Penny has only seen Marcus once in the year she has been walking his dog, Bear. All that will change when his niece, Mackenzie will come to stay with him while her mom deals with some personal issues. Things are off and running and there is chaos, science experiments gone wrong, one huge crazy family and love developing between Marcus and Penny. I love how their relationship develops despite their attempts to stop it. Penny comes out of her shell after some personal issues of her own and will reconnect with an old friend, find new friends and her journey is amazing to read. Her business making dog clothes will start to take off but there’s an issue going on behind the scenes that Marcus will uncover and it will put a bit of a barrier between them. But in the end, Penny will see the man that Marcus truly is and that he is nothing like the man in her past, and giving him a second chance to love her will change both of their lives for the better.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
I've read quite a bit of Lilian Monroe's books and I have to admit there is one big reason I keep picking them and that is the whole surprise baby/accidental pregnancy trope. I know this is a wildly unpopular book trope but it is my favorite (I can't get enough) and Lilian Monroe's always deliver on this trope. I have to say that overall I enjoyed this book and the story but the writing isn't the best. I know going into these books that they can be kind of formulaic, but that doesn't bother me all that much because I know what to expect but there were some parts that were so repetitive in this book and I'm not sure if she always wrote like that and I just didn't recall but there were some moments that were so repetitive that I kind of took my enjoyment out a little bit. There were times where the author kept bringing up the same issue over and over again without elaborating (for example the whole issue between Marcus and his sister) and I just found that a bit annoying and unnecessary. I still was able to enjoy the book though and I liked the characters. I just wish the whole pregnancy part of the book lasted longer because I just a sucker for that but overall this is my type of quick and easy read that I have a good time reading.
Unlike the previous two, this book didn't start out with a billionaire lusting after his nanny. Instead, it was his dog walker. The book does drag and I don't think there was really that much of a plot in the grand scheme of things to make it a 10 hour audio book. It was just missing something that the other two had.
I found Penny adorable in her awkwardness and how she spoke to Bear like he was a human. I actually liked Marcus and I didn't think I would after the last book. But he turned out to be a big softie when it came to his family and loyalty to them.
I did not like how Penny was so mistrusting of men in general and didn't give Marcus the benefit of the doubt. If you love someone, you communicate and hear their side of the story. Sure, Marcus messed up by invading her privacy and not telling her what he found out right away. But he did so with good intentions and a big heart, not because he wanted to control or manipulate her. He just wanted to protect her and he had the right to as her boyfriend.
Just like the others, there's an oops baby in this one too...
I’m of the women, by the women, for the women 24*7 and it pains me to admit this but the man was right and would’ve probably been better off without the h
Penny was so annoying and their fall out was literally all on her and so bloody stupid that i read the rest of the book in a fit of rage.
Also which 30 year old woman does not know how to input her bank details online or does not understand how facial recognition works?? Her being opposed to technology was such a joke pleaaaaase
Tragically traumatized by their separate pasts, drawn together by sympathies for that shared trauma, a compatible work ethic and undeniable attraction. These characters had my undivided attention from the start of their story. I honestly am not a fan of her titles but I sure am a fan of Lilian Monroe’s stories. I’ll look past the titles…just keep them coming!
Favorite of the three! She's a sunny dog walker and he's becoming secretly obsessed with her. Loved her interactions with him and others. She's been through a lot but keeps on going. This one has more humor than the first two, which makes me want to add an impossible half star.

Without fail Lilian Monroe books have me hook from the beginning, Marcus and Penny story was no different and a delight to read, both had a trauma in there past, you follow there story with a few bumps in the road. no spoilers. I loved the chemistry there had right from the off . It’s definitely a book I would recommend. 5 huge ⭐️📚💓📚
Loved most of this book but the heroine and hero were hung up on their past.. which I get to an extent. But. the. whole. time.? Then he looks into her sketchy business partner to help her because it’s his company’s program they use, and she connects that to a betrayal as bad as the sins of her controlling and stalking ex. Then she leaves him for a good while knowing she was carrying his child and when she does decide to get smart and go to him, he is the one groveling. he had no problem with her hiding her pregnancy at the end, even though he found out by his assistant telling him about it- & he built a crib for it before the heroine even came back but still said he didn’t know if he’d see her again. Was he going to let he keep his child from him? It was very disappointing after reading through the entire book to have the ending play out like it did. I don’t generally leave reviewes unless it knocks my socks off or it makes me regret the time I spent reading it.
Really a 2.5 rating. I have read so many books from this author ad love her writing, that is why I was sooo disappointed with this book. It fell flat. This could have been a more exciting book if the author had either shortened it by removing the repetitious paragraphs of Penny's and Marcus' bemoaning of things that have happened, added more conflict, or brought back previous characters.
Throughout the book, Penny continually repeats the whole Billy made be cutoff really living for the past 10 years(not a quote). Too much space was wasted on this. If he was going to keep being mentioned....why not have him show up in the book, even if it was just to apologize.
Marcus kept repeating how he had to take care of so many people, that they relied on him, family, employees, community. He would mention how he let his sister Stephanie down, over and over, yet we don't know how he did that until almost the very end. Did he not hear the saying about teaching a man to fish!?! He was constantly offering to pay for things for them. He got them jobs, let them grow up. This made his family unlikeable to me. They were a bunch of leeches. He played savior and then whined about it. His mother was a hypocrite. She would tell him he shouldn't feel like he had to do everything for everyone, but she was the one calling him to ask him to pay for the uncovered medical bills of his brother and calling him when the pipe burst in her apartment. Doesn't she have two other sons!?!
Marcus was such a integral part of the other two books with Emil and Leif, yet they were barely in this book. Their friendship was also a major part of the other two books, yet they were together, briefly, once in this book and that was almost at the end of the book. There was none of the comraderie that we saw in the other books.
At least at the end Penny realized that she allowed herself to be limited by a man,Brian, because she did not make the effort to learn technology. Of course she should have know she could learn it because she was using it before all the drama with her ex-boyfriend.
I review books so that I can remember what happened for the next book in a series when it comes out or to help me remember it when it pops up in my KU again. Spoilers ahead.
Marcus is the MMC and runs a website that people use to sell their creations. (Sounds like Etsy.)
Penny is the FMC and creates dog clothes and costumes to sell. She is mildly technology challenged and has a male business partner to help her with the website. She is also Marcus‘s dog walker. Penny shies away from relationships because she had a stalker ex-boyfriend in college. He accessed her private information through social media and emails and has a fear of people doing the same again.
Penny and Marcus develop a relationship after he asks her to watch over his niece in his apartment after school. Penny moves her workshop into Marcus’s spare room, so that she can work throughout the day. As the story progresses, the business partner seems to be jealous of the relationship.
Marcus becomes concerned that Penny’s business partner is embezzling from the business when he sees a written ledger of revenue. He logs into his website and compares the revenue Penny should be receiving to what is written in her ledger. When Penny finds out, she loses trust in her business partner because of his embezzling and in Marcus because of lack of privacy when he accessed her accounts.
Marcus works through his grief and his feeling of responsibility for his father’s death. Penny becomes more technologically savvy.
HEA. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

vI easily became obsessed with this series during book 1—this installment is no exception. (Is it just me or does Monroe’s writing somehow just keep getting better?)
I liked this because it manages to pack a dose of reality, unlike lots of tropey romances. This one is more like … plausible and just happens to hit the fun tropes. It’s also exciting for a variety of reasons, we’ve got unwanted attractions, smexual tension, lovable dogs, a stalker, a young woman entrepreneur, and also actively healing from her past trauma .. and more. What is not to love?!
I did predict it, but this didn’t take away from the experience at all—this is a great world to get lost into or take along on workouts, housework, etc. to help pass the time.
Trope hit / things to love:
🏙️ Incredibly sweet male lead. 💙 Strong, entrepreneurial female lead. 🏙️ Strong family bonds. 💙 Fresh-start vibes. 🏙️ Loveable canine secondary character. 💙Loveable kids secondary characters. 🏙️ Boss /employer relationship. 💙 Suspense-y vibes, financial scandal. 🏙️ Girlfriend posse. 💙 Rekindling old friendships. 🏙️ Billionaire romance - but the FMC doesn’t need rescuing or his money, she makes her own just fine. 💙 Set in NYC. 🏙️ Part of a series, but reads as a standalone.
Overall, I was addicted & missed it when I stepped away. Might even read this whole series again. 4.5 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Audio: Excellent! Professional sound quality and great performance.
Okay at least this one didn’t start out with the billionaire guy being wildly attracted to the nanny, but it did have the same surprise pregnancy which I like normally but it just felt like the same ole same ole for this series. This one does have a bit of mystery (not sure that is the bast way to describe it) so it gave it some interest. To me it was easy to figure out that something was a bit off with her best friend.
Penny is the dog walker for a tech billionaire. She happens to care for his German shepherd mix. When she was at his place to care for the dog, his sister & niece showed up, she somehow gets roped into babysitting the niece to keep her out of trouble when her uncle is at work. He accommodates the fact that she is a business owner and somewhat has her turning her business upside down with the changes of location. This all leads to friction between she and her partner opening up a whole other can of worms.
I’m not sure I understood the whole issue with Marcus and his sister. That part seemed as if it wasn’t needed in the storyline. I understood Penny being leery of men, but I do feel like it was a bit harsh of her when it came to Marcus sticking his nose where maybe it didn’t belong. She was sort of unreasonable if you ask me but just my opinion. It was still an okay story. It did keep me interested but also not my favorite in the series for sure.
Penny and Marcus are absolute fire. Penny, a quirky woman who’s a dog walker started her own business, making dog clothing. When her business takes off, she decides she’ll keep one client as a reserve income just in case. Lucky for him, Marcus is that client, and Penny not only adores Bear, Marcus’s dog, but enjoys dressing him up in her designs. After one day when she’s about to head out and walk bear, Marcus’s sister, Stephanie, and niece, Kenzie, barge in. Stephanie is a recovering alcoholic and she’s falling off the wagon. After screaming at her daughter, Stephanie leaves her teenager daughter alone at Marcus’s house. Seeing Kenzie is upset, she forgoes Bear’s walk to comfort this young girl. When Marcus sees his sister and nieces exchange on his security cameras he rushes home. There he finds Penny and Kenzie talking. And that’s where it all begins. As they both fight their intense attraction while still guarding secrets they both have that have driven them both to be a success in their own business. Will they succumb to their chemistry? Will they be able to move past past hurts? This is a great book with fabulous characters and a great storyline that provides you with all the feels.
It was fun seeing an inside look at this broody billionaire. After seeing Marcus be a grump in the previous books it was hilarious to discover what a cinnamon roll he is. Penny on the other hand is incredibly clueless and the embodiment of sunshine. The two of them together are cute as can be.
The gist of it is: Marcus ends up the guardian of his teenage niece and needs help keep her out of trouble. Who better to ask than his dog walker? Because dog walking and babysitting are DEFINITELY the same profession. And yet… he manages to convince Penny she’s perfect for the job. 😂 So of course with that wacky set up, things are bound to get heated.
This one is definitely has plenty of slow will they won’t they tension. It had a dash of spice to keep things steamy. Lots of dogs and children to raise the cute factor. And a simple storyline (I guessed the ending pretty easily lol). It’s not a groundbreaking read, but that’s what makes it so enticing for me. It serves its purpose as a low effort happily ever after that helped brighten my day.
If you need a good fluff book, this one is perfect.
Unpredictable, easy-to-read, funny, captivating, unputdownable, wonderful characters, romantic... in a nutshell A MUST READ. The journey of Marcus and Penny was heartbreaking. I was totally wrapped in this story. First of all, the dogs and I love dogs. Penny is a dog walker and she designs and sews dog's clothes. Marcus is a billionaire, a bachelor, and most of the time a grumpy one, but in his mind, he can fix everybody´s problems. He is overprotective and cares about the people he loves. So, fate happens. Marcus needs someone to look after his niece and Penny is the best option for him. They will have tp face their fears and challenges This book is a fascinating page-turner. You start reading it and can`t put it down. There is no words that can describe how much I loved reading it. This book is a solid 5 stars. Thank you so much Lilian for writing such amazing stories. This book is my favorite in the Manhattan Billionaires series Thank you for allowing us to read it. I can´t wait for the next one.
I love the Manhattan Men series, but I think BIG BOSSY PROBLEM may be my favorite of the three books so far. It’s got the grumpy billionaire boss and the caring, effervescent (to the dog at first) and talented woman that are connected by the dog Marcus owns and Penny walks twice a day.
Marcus is the lone bachelor in his big family but so comfortable with his young nieces and nephews. He has appointed himself the family’s caretaker of sorts - looking out for all family and friends sometimes at the expense of himself.
Penny is one of those women that is adorable but not artificially so. She’s so different from the women Marcus usually hooks up with and he knows he is better off staying away from her.
So, does he stay away from her? Does she want him to? It’s a great story to read. I couldn’t put it down because I had to know what was going to happen.
This review is voluntary and written after receiving an advance copy of the book from the author.
I not sure you can name a book an accidental pregnancy and then have the FMC fall pregnant at 80% 🤔 .
Along side the title on amazon and goodreads it states that the book is an accidental pregnancy which it is don't get me wrong but it had nothing to do with the plot line until the very end so I think it's a bit misleading in that factor.
Other then that this book had its enjoyable moments and I really liked Marcus' character. The FMC not so much she had her moments where i was like give her a chance Toyah but really she was just annoying 🤣 especially nearing the end.
I found alot of the book to be very repetitive, especially when talking about their pasts. Which made their back stories hard empathise with at times, like I get it, it's sad but at the same time does it need to be mentioned on every other page 🤷🏾♀️.
Overall not a bad read, had its moments that I liked.
I loved this book so much, I read it in one day! I knew going into reading it that it was going to be interesting, not your typical "boss/nanny" book, since Penny is essentially babysitting for Marcus' niece, and that's what made me love the book all the more. I am not typically too fond of the nanny trope, so I was on board with this as soon as I realized that this was a little different, and BOY! is it! The cast of characters in this book are heartwarming and hilarious, supportive and surly. There isn't a point where you stop and say "yea, I saw that coming," because you definitely won't. There are twists and turns along the way but I was LOLing right along with them.
As far as the Manhattan Billionaires series go, this one is definitely my favorite, although I do recommend them all! Ms. Monroe has done it again!
I received and read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third book in the Manhattan Billionaires series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone but it is connected to the first two books so you will see previous characters. If you've read the first two books you've already had an intro to Marcus. Penny has been Marcus' dog walker for the past year but they really haven't had much interaction with each other. Marcus believes he doesn't have room in his life for a woman or the worry of not being there if she needs him. Penny has been hiding from life, staying away from men after her ex stalked her and made her life miserable. I enjoyed watching Penny and Marcus' relationship develop and both of them start to heal from their past traumas. Funny, steamy and well written. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
If anyone ever reads my reviews, I do use "what a great book" a lot because it's true and I can't think of something more eloquent to say. If a book makes me laugh, cry and/or want to punch someone (which I wouldn't due unless backed into a corner) it's my kind of book. This book had it all, really enjoyed it. Penny and Marcus were so cute together. They both had their past to fight along with a few current problems. Marcus has such a great family where Penny wasn't so lucky. She also had a "friend and business partner" who really wasn't either one of those things. She was talented in her own right and had gained two great girlfriends. Read what they all go through together and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Liked the NYC references too, it's been a while since I have been there. Nice memories. Written by Cindy :)
Like a professional darts player, Lilian Monroe hits treble top with every one of her books! Love the quirky Penny's dress sense. She's totally committed to designing outfits for dogs whilst dog walking as a sideline. Marcus - rich in money and family values but carrying a heavy guilt over a family members death is running himself into the ground trying to be everything to his friends and relatives but no time for himself. Penny has walked Marcus's dog Beast for 12 months but they've only met once. Marcus's niece moves in with him temporarily and he asks for Penny's help - this little oddly-dressed whirlwind who makes his heart beat faster. What could possibly happen?? Enjoyable chemistry and some laugh out loud moments - would recommend.
Billionaire Marcus Walsh never expected his life to change when he hired Penny Littleton to walk his dog Bear twice a day after only seeing her once in person but on doggy cam every time she took him for a walk. Penny Littleton had dropped most of her clients except for Marcus as she expanded her business making clothes for pets. But Penny couldn’t turn him down when he needed help with his niece.
If you want a romance where the characters are unpredictable especially with Marcus’ niece MacKenzie and the rest of his family where it is big, loud and always there for each other.
Big, Bossy Problem is a stand-alone book but if you read the other book in the series you will know the other characters better.
