The decimation of my ten-year relationship leveled me, crushed my soul into a heap of dust. Time healed the bulk of my brokenness, but I refused to relinquish myself to another…until Ransome came dancing his way into my life. Wickedly sexy, all I needed was one night with him to douse my My job as a dancer didn’t inspire relationship hopes in the minds of any self-respecting woman. I wanted more, but drunken nights of sex and one-night stands summarized my unflattering relationship status. Finding a woman willing to give me a chance was as unattainable as picking winning lottery numbers…until my eyes gleamed the darkness and found Charlene.
Keta Kendric is a USA Today Bestselling Author who enjoys writing romances featuring alpha men and strong leading ladies. Her books are edgy, raw, gritty, and some are dark.
Thought-provoking and Edgy Love Lied by Ms. Kendric is captivating, this book grabbed my attention from the very first page and refused to let go until the very end. I experienced a roller-coaster of emotions from pity to anger to overwhelming joy.
The unlikely setting of a strip club sets the stage for Charla and Ransome unconventional love story, which is both intriguing and captivating. Charla is an accountant trapped in a toxic relationship, and Ransome, a charismatic stripper she meets at a club.
I appreciated the challenge of stereotypes and expectations; the secrets and unexpected twists and Charla's journey from vulnerability to empowerment are both believable and inspiring.
Keta Kendrick is just good reading for the IR Bwwm genre period. Excellent writing. The description of the emotions of the fmc at the beginning and her journey throughout to the end was so well done, never corny or cringe. This was more of a woman power, insta love, cute but edgy story. Fast paced, IR, BWWM, HEA, no cheating, SPICY🌶🌶🌶Feel good. Women's Fiction. Will read the next full novel.
I was all in with reading chapter one. The story only got more interesting and mysterious from there. However, the ending left me wondering what happened to Carter. Also, did Ransome and Charla get married? Otherwise, an enjoyable tead.
Charla was dumped by her boyfriend of10 years! It was never a true hsppy relationship with Carter! Her girls convinced her to go out to a strip club, which she didn't realize until they got on the inside that this was one. She catches the attention of a hottie named Ransome and it was only supposed to be a One night stand but they both caught feelings for one another. Carter was a whole mess, he wanted his cake and eat it too! After threatening Charla and basically holding her hostage in this sham of a relationship, she decided a plan along with her girls Callie and Dayton and that's when they could finally get their HEA! I loved this novel it was hot, steamy and sexy! Can't wait to see what happens in the next book in this series!
I just finished reading Love Lied by Keta Kendric. In Love Lied, we have Char and Ransome . Char was an accountant who was in a bad relationship .So her friends took her to a strip club, and that where she meets Ran, and that's where the story begins. While reading this book, it had me wanting more. How the author wrote the characters were amazing, and I loved how she wrote about certain stereotypes. There were secrets revealed that were unexpected that you don't see coming. Some of the scenes had me in my feelings and clutching my pearls. This author really wrote this book really well. I would definitely recommend readers read this book because it won't disappoint. Love Lied was recommended by Unique Words
This is really more a 2.5 but I wasn't sure if a 2 or 3 was better but it's not closer to bad than good I didn't think so I pushed it up. Charlene, Charla for short, is 28 and works for a successful accounting firm I think it is. When the book opens, she's a month out of a relationship when her friends talk her into going to a male strip club. Although she's not looking for anything, Ransome spots her when she's there and can't keep his eyes off her. When he gets the time after his set, he comes out to introduce himself and they agree on a one night stand. Little does Charla know, Ransome isn't really interested in a one night stand but sees it as a way to get closer to Charla. After they hook up, Ransome and Charla start spending a lot of time talking on the phone together even though she rebuffs all of his attempts to see her again. Ransome wants Charla but is unsure if she'll take him seriously in terms of a relationship because he's a dancer. Ransome owns a barbershop where he also works on cutting hair and has aspirations to stop dancing at some point.
Anyway, Ransome and Charla do eventually reconnect physically and he convinces her to go on a date. Just when things are moving along smoothly, Charla's ex returns to the picture. The ex says he wants Charla back but he'd left her for another woman he'd gotten pregnant and after an almost 10- year relationship with Charla. This is also where the book kind of lost me because although Charla makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with him, a couple of things are issues. The first is he's still paying for the condo that's Charla lives in, despite her attempts to take over the lease or make payments because the ex had blocked her from doing so. The second is the ex blackmails her. He probably has cameras set up somewhere in the condo's bedroom because when Charla is headed out the door with her bags packed, the ex pulls up footage of her time with Ransome. The ex threatens to send it to her employer and use the footage to also destroy Ransome by doctoring the footage and going to the police to tell them that Ransome raped her if Charla leaves. The first threat Charla shrugs off, but the threat to Ransome's future is enough for her to stay and call things off with Ransome. This annoyed me on the one hand and felt unnecessary on the other. I wanted Charla to tell her ex to beat it, and even though the ex works in security and has police buddies, I'd think they'd need Charla as the victim of the alleged rape to be the one to corroborate or testify or something. Understanding that the legal system works slowly, I can see why she wouldn't want to disrupt Ransome's life and have him hauled in for a false charge, but just the weak manipulation got under my skin. From there, Charla breaks things off with Ransome but hires a PI to dig up dirt on the ex while she's stewing in the shared space. Charla uncovers a lot of dirt with the help of the PI, there's a scene where she and friends follow the ex to his other apartment he shares with his future baby momma and do some snooping, and a confrontation before Charla gets away. She then hits Ransome up at his shop and they go from there. It's not until Charla freely chooses Ransome that she finds out he's 24 but doesn't let that deter the choice she made.
It was short. It wasn't very deep in terms of delving into who the characters were I didn't think, and I rolled my eyes hard when the ex came back on such flimsy reason. Actually, I don't know what the reason was, Charla guesses it's because she let him do whatever even though Charla wasn't aware of the ex's cheating at the time. Also could be that the ex misses all of the other stuff Charla was doing for him. We don't find out that Ransome is 24 until the end which in some ways I felt that he wasn't as assertive when it came to what he wanted with Charla.
Charlene’s ten-year relationship with Carter was far from ideal; however, when he abandoned her, Charlene’s friends Callie and Dayton treated her to a night of entertainment at a strip club. There, she encounters the irresistible Ransome, and what initially appears to be a one-night stand evolves into something more. Meanwhile, Carter decides he wants Charlene back and decides to exert control over her. But Charlene wants to fortify her resolve by leaving the past behind, which culminates in a daring scheme to reclaim her happiness with the assistance of her friends Callie and Dayton. This novel is steamy, hot, and brimming with drama. I thoroughly enjoyed each page and am eagerly anticipating the subsequent installment in the series. Four out of five stars!
A BWWM romance with suspenseful elements and a toxic Ex. I enjoyed the random connection between the main character and LI, it definitely gave don't close your eyes to love from an unthinkable place and neve judge a book by the cover. While I appreciated the self-sacrifice from the main character to protect her LI, Ransome - the way she stayed and went about it was MAJOR CRINGE however, I understood that it was necessary for the story flow and true vindication and freedom from her toxic ex-partner.
Charla and Ransome started out as doomed to fail as can be, but will end as a tear jerking, heart palpitating ride of twists and turns. Ms Kendrick is always able to bring the drama and this doesn’t disappoint. What I’m hoping for in the second book is what happens to Carter. ( don’t want to give away too much) Another great series is being birthed, you won’t regret reading.
I loved this story, the main characters Charla and Ransome were so romantic and charming together. Ransome was refreshing and warm, he was very emotionally mature and connected well with Charla. The twist to the story when Carter came back was nail biting as I wanted her to be rid of him. The whole story had me eagerly turning the pages to see how it was going to end. I simply loved it....!
Carter was a real dog azz jerk. Not only was he cheating on Charla with someone else's wife and throwed away their ten year relationship after getting an under aged girl pregnant, he blackmail Charla into taking him back. He won't have been able to close his eyes. She beat him at his own game tho. I love Ransome for her. Even tho he's younger than her and a stripper he's more man than Carter will ever be.💓💓
This was a pretty good read. I like that Charla saved herself and didn't do the whole damsel in distress. I don't know if it was his youth or strong feelings, but a time or two I was kind of concerned with Ransome's actions and that they mat have been going a bit stalkerish. This was one of those quick in love stories, but it really didn't bother me much.
Oh I think Ransom is my new book boyfriend 😍 A delicious 😋 read, no house work for me today just had to get this book read. Started it in the hair dresser, and you all know what that's like 😉. So half the shop is now reading on Kindle. That should tell you all you need to know, get on it you will so enjoy, had me laughing out loud in parts.
Ransome was on fire!!!! I liked his back story which brought depth to the table. Charlene was loved by many the 2 men that should have loved her didn't do their job.
I loved her girlfriends!!!
But most of all I enjoyed the love that Ransome had for her. He knew Charlene's value even if she was unsure.
Loved it! The truth always come out' never doubt that! My thoughts, what happen to carter? No good! Love Charlene and sorry it took her that long to dump him! Her best friends they were there for her I have ones just like hers, I loved! You will not be disappointed with any of her books, I have love all that I have read and looking forward to the ones I have not read!
The book read very stilted as in you could not really differentiate the characters’ voices because it was written like an essay. I mean even the way the characters were talking sounded so mehh It made it very boring very quickly because it all sounded the same like an essay assignment. Great idea for a story let down by stilted execution.
This was a nice read. I must admit, it took me several tries to get through this book. In Charla's case, you think you know someone after ten years. Wow. Ransome is a good man just looking for love. They are a beautiful couple. I will still recommend this book.
Ransome & Charla couples goals. It was meant to be a one night stand turns into a world wind romance. Ransom was everything Charla needed. This is a contemporary romance with so much steam you might go blind…
I read this book as a Vella first. I couldn't put it down and and I know it will definitely be one I reread over and over again. Ransome and Charlene are couple goals. The plot twist are always on point. We'll done Keta Kendric.
I enjoy Keta’s books but I felt this one was rushed. I wish there was more backstory on the male romance interest. They wasted no time getting down with the get down, and I wish there would’ve been more of a build up. I just feel the characters could have been more developed and the story was predictable. I gave it a three for entertainment value and the fact that it wasn’t so bad that I felt I couldn’t finish it.
I loved the fact that the MF and MM characters were well tight out, but there were too many loose threads left. What really happened to Carter was my main irritant. All in all, a HEA and a quick read did it for me.
Keta Kendrick knows how to stretch a scene! Even though this is a short book (less than 200 pages) , it’s a complete story with well-developed characters. I remain a fan. I look forward to the rest of the series.
This was a beautiful story! I love the connection between Charlene and Ransome! I am glad that they got their HEA! Now, onward to reading the second story about their friends Trent and Callie!
The book was a little slow getting started, but once it picked up it was good. I almost stopped reading at one point, I won't spoil it, but then it got even better. What a great read!!! I loved it
