“It’s the literary equivalent of a bunch of fetish gear covered in glitter, tossed into a dumpster, and set on fire.” - A beta reader

Welcome to Rut, where your pleasure is our business.

Gorgeous, chiseled alpha dancers. Specialty drinks on demand prepared by flirty bartenders. Omega-only member hours.

Veronica has cracked the code for omega-focused entertainment. A bar where omegas like her can let loose without worrying about creepy, predatory alphas.

But Rut is more than just sizzle and sleaze: there’s something else going on beneath all the body oil and glitter. Something IRS agent Brenden Hall is getting dangerously close to uncovering during the bar's audit.

Unfortunately for her, the unassuming agent is starting to smell like temptation, just like two of her also-off-limits employees. There's Anthony, her bratty tattooed bartender with a smile full of sinful promise, and Jamie, the lovesick himbo alpha dancer who tempts her one dance at a time.

Vee can’t allow herself to give in to an indulgence that could cost her the bar. There's also the matter of that stubborn dominant streak that makes her a less-than-ideal example of her designation. What pack would want an omega with Domme tendencies, anyway?

While Vee worries about getting Rut through the tax audit, the boys worry if they'll be able to survive her stubbornness. Can these four wildcards come together and admit their deepest desires, or will they all keep dancing around it forever?

Rut Bar is a low stakes, high feels, ultra steamy MMFM omegaverse romance. There are no shifters or werewolves in this novel. A content guide is included in the beginning for readers with sensitivities. This book features multiple love interests and a heroine who won't be choosing. If you enjoy long heat scenes, a career-focused omega with switchy Domme tendencies, a soft Dom IRS agent who audits the bar, a himbo alpha dancer, a feral tattooed beta bartender, shibari, public fun, and 4 adults handling their business with minimal angst and no 3rd act break-up then this book is for you. While Rut Bar takes place after the events in Heat Clinic, the Heatverse books are standalones and can be read in any order.

DNF at 20% The consent violations were wild. All of the sex scenes involving Anthony feel coercive. There’s a particular scene involving body fluids that was too far for me. I emailed the author to ask that it be added to the content warnings because it really should be in there.

Even if reading this book again would give me 20/20 vision, I wouldn't touch it again. That's how atrocious it was.

Its hard to describe how much of a let down this book one, I wished I pirated it instead.

I'm not sure how any of them really fell in love with each other when all they did was fuck. Heartfelt moments were few and far between. I'd rather they met up for a one night stand and separated after her heat ended.

----------------------------SPOILERS AHEAD-------------------------

Vee played almost no role in her love story, sure she thought these men were hot but she never initiated shit not even sex. She got railroaded into everything - and there wasn't even a decent explanation as to why.

I wished we knew more about Brandon and Jamie, particularly Brandon who's shining feature was being too white for Black people and too Black for white people because he was mixed. As a Black reader, NEVER EVER INCLUDE THAT SHIT, it's pedestrian, distasteful and shows that you as author don't care enough to actually but some thought into Black characters.

The boundaries for BDSM play were never established to the reader nor to Vee. Sure, everyone wrote what their limits were but that detail was never revealed to us. It was uncomfortable to witness Vee reject Anthony's advances but acquiesce in the end. (most of their public sex scenes felt coercive instead of illicit because Vee never once automatically accepted those advances) Vee would state that she didn't want to have sex in the workplace but was constantly at the workplace having sex... The only time she saw a bed when was in she was in heat.

The #1 problem: ANTHONY. Yes, its cool to see a beta play such an active role in the relationship formation but Anthony as a character and as a dom was horrifying to read about. Sure in his head, his actions were justified but he was a clear violator of boundaries and did too many things without consent. This most disgusting of which was . The other instance was when Vee said that she wouldn't call him Daddy and he basically forced her into it. The former was never addressed until the end of the book and it ended with Vee being okay with it - as if her consent was never violated and it was minor issue and it was necessary because she was an omega.

Not bad at all, just more sex scenes than plot and a few kinks explored that I'm not super into. If you're into sweet omegaverse novels with all the smut and are interested in seeing a submissive alpha, then yeah you should definitely check this out.

🥵 Whew *fans self*

Alrighty. This baby was a beefcake of smutty goodness 😂

I loved how the conventional titles didn't really apply. We had some exciting and different personalities that all came together to make a great group. 😍 Sweet, golden retriever alpha, a bad boy beta, a quiet alpha and a fiesty omega.

Calling dibs on Anthony now- FYI 😉🫠

I really enjoyed reading this story (and every other book by Alexis B. Osborne)!

Thank you BookSirens for the opportunity to read and voluntarily review this eARC!

If you liked Alexis’ Heat Clinic, you’ll love this, also there’s a little scene where we run into our OCs too!

This Omegaverse is a long read, which I’m thankful for, and through out you’ll find a lot of smut, and not the repetitive kind either. Always fun new scenes, even ones taking you out of your element. However, I really appreciated getting to know all the characters and the growth too.

Things I enjoyed:
•Vee (Omega lead female) was an older Omega. She was incredibly head strong and didn’t want to be submissive in the sense she gave up everything she worked for…. And at times in the bedroom too. I loved she put her career first and her pack KNEW this and loved it about her.
•I loved that the “normal” dynamics we see in Omegaverse fics, we’re completely flipped here.
An omega who likes to domme, an Alpha who enjoys bottoming and a more submissive role, a beta who shows Alpha traits and another Alpha who was calm, patient and in control. Brilliant.
•I loved how every personality complimented each other.
•The characters all felt flawed and authentic in their own way and again we got to see them grow on their own and together.

Things I felt iffy on:
•The toast scene…..if you read it, you may understand or maybe it’s your thing.
•Anthony, sometimes he was a hard pill to swallow and I felt he tried a little too hard at times. He also sat on the border of no consent and pushed Vee too hard imo.
•What was done to another upcoming bar, felt too out of character and then it was all completely dropped.

Otherwise fantastic story and I can’t wait until Alexis’ next Omegaverse.

•I received this as an ARC and I’m leaving a review that’s 100% my own views. Thank you•

DNF. I just didn't feel any connection between the characters, and Anthony did some very questionable things. The FMC was just never listened to, for example, she asked that their relationship be kept out of work, and they would constantly seduce her at work. It just didn't work for me

DNF at 68%.

The consent issues were wearing on me. But the hiding from your new pack while engaging in risky behavior stressed me out too much.

This was never going to be more than three stars anyway.

The short version sans minor spoilers & more in-depth discussion: I think that if you’re a fan of low-stakes omegaverse with tons of kinky smut you’ll enjoy this. Especially if you don’t mind a girthier book! I enjoy Ms. Osborne’s writing style and her omegaverse world a lot and I will definitely read more if she writes it. I think this one just had too many “not for me” aspects, and that’s a-ok!

Jamie is bae. Thank you, good night. 🤗

Now the long form review (there ARE spoilers here), take everything with a grain of salt.

TLDR good, but not my favorite because of too many me-icks. (Would still love to read more in the future and very grateful for the ARC copy!)

I was right --- this book is a wild ride! This kinky sex-fest is a cover for the truly emotional and heartwarming journey our characters go on. Designations are subverted and all love is embraced. I loved reading about how these seemingly incompatible characters found their own way to happiness.

Veronica is in her own way for a bit, but as soon as she makes that leap she is all in. Anthony is dirty and devious and dead sexy. Jamie is probaby the himbo-y-est himbo I've read. He is sweet, simple, and only wants to please. Brendan's brand of dominance is more mature and calm and just what this group needs to thrive. The combination of these three men gives Vee everything she needs and didn't know how to ask for.

There is enough plot to keep this from feeling like erotica, but it is low stakes and low drama. I enjoyed every minute I read this.

There is A LOT of sex and it is KINKY so if that's not your thing don't read this and then get mad at the book. You were warned.

Omegaverse (non-shifter)
Workplace romance
Age gap
Sub and dom dynamics
Strip-club owner (F omega)

This is an OV book with a dom beta and sub alpha. It was so interesting reading the bad boy beta taking control while the sweet Golden retriever was a sub, add in a fiesty omega add in a quiet and patient alpha and you have the perfect pack.

Vee (the omega) is older, head strong, and puts her career first. Her pack knew this and didn't make her choose. As mentioned above, Vee has more domme tendencies and one of her alphas is a submissive bottom. Anthony is a beta with alphas tendencies and the driving force behind their relationship.

Rut Bar truly blew me out of the water! After becoming completely obsessed with Heat Clinic the first book in the series, i was anxiously waiting for this book to come out. I received this as an ARC which I’m sooooo grateful for, thank you sooooo much Alexis😭🫵🏽🩵. This series is known for low plot HIGH vibez (pun intended) but the plots are so good everytime! The smut is craaaaaazy, like it’s so good you’ll be a puddle within the first 5 chapters. (Better charge up now🫨)

Rut is a bar for omegas to come and drink in their fill of alphas dancing on stage in little small outfits .Think Magic Mike but omegaverse😈 and of course the bar was ran by an omega Veronica (Vee), which made it even better because it’s more than just a bar for her. Reversing the roles and letting the omegas have a chance at being entertained instead of being entertainment. Himbo Jamie was the main dancer and very submissive for an alpha which isn’t very common in the hierarchy. Jamie was such a himbo but he truly loved Vee and his pack more than anything, he was so self sacrificing and i just loved him so much🥹 Anthony our bratty yet very dominant bar tender and beta was the main mastermind behind convincing Vee to create a pack with him and Jamie. Anthony definelty stole the show for me in this book! He was super helpful with Veronica although at times a little too pushy & he loved Jamie while never belittling him for not being incredibly intelligent. I also love that Anthony enlisted the help of Brendan the IRS auditor in helping out with Veronicas heats and in joining the pack.

Brendan never stood a chance between these 3 and I’m so glad that he stepped in to help Jamie and Anthony with Vee’s heat and fully solidifying the pack. He was a typical alpha but he was also really knowledgeable when it came to down to it. Anthony as a beta only knew so much and Brendan was definitely okay with taking charge and fitting a role within the pack despite his own insecurities about being too old. Veronica was so strong and really didn’t like the idea of being with a pack since she was so used to being by herself but seeing her progress throughout the book of letting the people she cared about care for her was so beautiful. I loved that we got a cameo from Marcus & Tom as investors for the new Rut and seeing that although Veronica had a pack, she started Rut from the ground up and created something beautiful. A true boss and i loved that for her! I can’t wait for next book in this series to come out! Alexis is truly doing an amazing job with this series and its diversity.

I'm always up for a new omegaverse so imagine my surprise to find one that takes place in a strip club owned by a female omega. That alone grabbed my attention.

Never mind that Veronica "Vee" is an omega. She's an amazing businesswoman, she's intelligent and capable regardless of her sex and designation. She's really built something, she is there for her fellow omegas in a way that no one ever was. Vee's awesome even if she doesn't realize it.

It's something about this group of guys. Anthony is a mastermind, watching him plot and have things work in his favor was intriguing but when I saw the vulnerable parts of him was when he had me. Brandon's physical insecurities make him the most relatable no matter who you are. It was easy to connect with him on that level. Last but certainly not least is Jamie. Oh my gods I loved this man. He is the sweetest most thoughtful person, he reminds me of a goddsdarned puppy and I just wanted to protect him from anything and everything. He touched my heart.

This series isn't called the Heatverse for nothing. There's a lot of sex in this book (and this is from a girl who loves a bunch of steam), the kink was very real but it was more than that. It was about a pack finding their way together with very little angst, about becoming okay with who you are finding your people, the people who accept you for you, and in that way, it was touching. Outside of the pack coming together, there were some other interesting tidbits nesting stores, midnight hijinks, a colorful cast of characters, and a need for a serious alibi.

Rut Bar was an interesting take on an omegaverse, I mean who ever heard of a strip specifically for omegas. Genius! The story may have been a little long (all those sex scenes take time) but I really enjoyed it.

5 stars for all the smut. This is a delicious omegaverse erotica that isn't over quickly. It stands out by not being a quickie and because, as a reader, I could connect with the characters through the descriptive details. It was wonderfully over the top and ridiculous but also unapologetically sexy. Omegaverse, reverse harem, m/m, mmmf, full length novel.

Do I think this novel could have had more grovelling when it comes to some side consent issues? Yes. And although I didn't dock a star like I did for the first book, it kinda works within this version of omegaverse. Sort of tongue in cheek shock value. I kinda can't believe they went there!?!

"Rut Bar" is the story of Veronica, Anthony, Jamie and Brendan.

Difficult to describe this book but it a smutty fetish-filled sex romp between our heroine who runs a bar, and three men- her bartender, her dancer and the IRS agent who comes to investigate her. It is filled with insane amount of four way sex, BDSM, fluid play and just loads of breeding and knotting. You get what you are promised, and it is dirty.

Overall I really liked the characters. There is omegaverse without shifters, an alpha himbo surfer/stripper, an older alpha IRS agent, a badass boss lady omega, and a charming sneaky beta with ties to “the family.” There is a consent thing that made me nuts but otherwise.

Filthy, capital F. Totally cringey, but in the 'omg I could never. omg no. omg WHY' type of ways. Nope, this guy is a showstopper. It aligns so well with the first in series with writing style, while also being a completely different vibe of storytelling, and that's a cool talent this author has with her other series.

Two issues I had:
--Sometimes Jamie's lack of intellect feels like a joke in the beginning. The first bathroom encounter is a case in point. BUT. Stick it out, the respect gets woven in later.
--The dynamic shifting is super cool in theory, but there's a lot of backtracking and rearranging it feels like. Just when someone says they're firm on a certain boundary, someone pushes it--and while consent is given, the way it's written feels very borderline insensitive. There's A LOT going on in this book though, and the editing to keep those threads together is TOP NOTCH. So while I felt like there was room for improvement, I definitely don't think anything in the text is lacking, necessarily.

I was actually thinking of book one the other month, and was trying to remind myself to look it up to reread (when I got home or whatever), and kept forgetting. But this one popped on my recommended feed and I was thrilled the reminder was practically assigned to me. Worth it if you like super raunchy books, but like I said, the continuation of writing style is top notch. I reread the first before tackling this guy, so they could be fresh together.

Recommend? Yes. A definite yes.

I picked up this book immediately after the enjoyable Heat Clinic but, ooph. I can usually handle an employer/employee relationship, especially in an alternate universe like this where a little handwaving can go a long way, but there is no handwaving here. Instead Vee is worrying about being attracted to her best dancer, her long-time bartender, and the hot IRS guy who is auditing her business... and then fucking two of them because they cornered her into doing it. Ugh. Putting it down at 17%, and reading other people's reviews it looks like I got out while the getting was good.

I was disappointed in this book after reading the first book. I understand the intent with mixing up the norm of dominant/submissive and the pack dynamic but this didn't seem to make sense in the usual Omega world. Anthony seemed like he had control issues and wanted to be an alpha but wasn't. He was the more aggressive/protective one and really set on dominanting both the alpha and omega as a beta. The consent felt a little off in this book and the humiliation kink for Jamie was too far for me. It didn't feel like Brendan or Jamie showed many characteristics of being an alpha and I think Anthony dominated too much of the story. I really liked the first book and had trouble reading through this one.

FIRST 5⭐ OF 2024

Rating: 5/5
Spice: 5/5
Platform used: Kindle (ARC)
Trigger Warnings: Group Sex, BDSM/Kink, Graphic/Rough Sex, Sexual Assault (Mentioned), Mild Violence.
Tropes: RH/Why Choose, Boss/Employee, OV, Co-Workers, Aftercare.
Kinks: Anal, Male Sub, BDSM, D/s, Cum Inflation, Male Chastity Device, Praise, Fluid Excess, Size Difference, Fisting, Daddy, Degradation, Exhibitionism, Edging, Marking, Daisy Chain, DVP, Pierced Genitals, Objectification, Bondage/Rope, Primal Play, Pegging, Breeding, DP, Knotting, Humiliation

If omegaverse and kink are your thing then this book is what you are looking for. Despite the author stating this book is "80% smut and 20% vibes," it is 100% of both smut and vibes! The plot is very enjoyable, you're rooting for Vee the whole time in both her personal and work life. The characters are very endearing with their own self doubts and confidence issues, take out the smut and it's a sweet story I'd still enjoy reading but the smut is top shelf! I thought I might not care for the switch FMC and the submissive Alpha but holy hell it was still just as hot as Heat Clinic!

"Shh. Toys don't participate, boy." "They get used and then put away when their owner's done playing with them"

I'm very impressed with Alexis. This is nearly a 650 page book on kindle and I was pretty much hooked the entire time. I read somewhere that it's tagged as 80% smut and that's the truth. With a why choose, it's really easy to hit a high percentage number of smut/romance, but it felt right, with the book being so long and an omegaverse, it wasn't only smut and there was a lot of growth in the four main characters, Veronica(Vee), Jamie, Anthony, and Brenden.

What is an omegaverse? Alexis goes over the basics at the beginning of the book, making sure their audience understands what they are getting into as it can be a shocker to some.

Starting with Chapter 1, "Someone has to take care of you since you're too busy taking care of everyone else to do it yourself. Make sure you eat a vegetable every once in a while", this immediately kicks in and sets the scene of who Veronica is, if you've ever been an overworked, under cared for person.

I was very worried getting into about how Jamie was perceived. At first, it seems like he is ill or very much younger than the 36 he's claimed to be, but throughout the book Alexis makes it a heartwarming story about a 'sweet, loyal, caring' Jamie that 'takes direction well, but you have to be very clear of he doesn't always get it.'

Brenden is my favorite. I can't get over the cute, sexy, dad that he is and the mass amount of knowledge he has from just living life. And I mean... it doesn't hurt that he has a knot and knots (if you know what I mean - read the damn book).

Now Anthony... He was the one I was on the fence about the entire time. I couldn't figure out if he was pushy in a good way or an inappropriate way. I understand that he's a Beta and needs to try and pave his way into a pack that has two alphas, but sometimes it was almost a step to far... but was it? I don't know, I'm not Vee and by the end of the book, Vee was in love with them, so is it for me to say? He's very much a 'who did this to you' and "I'll throw your bleeding enemies at your feet so you can stomp them into the dirt" which is so hot.

Overall, I'm sold. I'm going to go back and read the 'first' which is Heat Clinic.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ✨✨✨✨✨

I have so been looking forward to this book since Ms. Osborne‘s omegaverse book Heat Clinic released, and I was not disappointed in the least! I absolutely loved everything about this book. The characters, the chemistry, the spice, the story, was all great. I really loved watching the relationship between the characters grow throughout the story, and I particularly liked watching Veronica and Brendan grow as characters and as pack mates. They both really seemed to come into their own. Despite this book being quite “meaty” in terms of length, I was not ready for it to end, and I wished I could have stayed just a little longer with the characters and to see what comes next and how it all plays out.

It occurred to me that one of the reasons why so many of the omega verse books are so long is that the seggs scenes are similar to the battle scenes in other kinds of epic fantasy. I usually skip the battle scenes, though.

I think the main premise of this one is that the main characters each act outside of their expected dynamic. So there’s an alpha who’s very submissive; there’s an omega who’s very dominant, etc. There’s mob stuff, assault stuff, finding a pack stuff.

Very cute. Very spicy. Very long. Free on KU

Rut Bar was amazing!

Rut Bar, book 2 in the series Heatverse by Alexis B. Osborne &@alexis.b.osborne is a newish author for me.

Well, it wasn't a fluke! This book was just as amazing as the first one! I loved reading about Veronica, Jamie (Alpha), Anthony (Beta) & Brendan (Alpha) so much! A female Omega that is a Domme, an Alpha that is a sub, a switch & a Dom. 🥵 if you like BD$M, Omegaverse, RH & an amazing storyline, then this book is for you!

DNF at 70%. I liked the premise of this initially and the characters were promising but then got kind of less likeable as I went along. At 70% some stuff happens that just felt immature and silly and I just couldn’t bring myself to care anymore. Not for me! Might check out the other ones because I’ve seen a few people say the others in this series are better but I’ll probably hold off for now.

I absolutely loved how the typical pack dynamics went out the window in the most beautiful way in this. From a grumpy beta who's more like an alpha to the sunshine alpha who's more like an omega and let's not forget Vee or Brennan who aren't your typical meek omega or in charge alpha either.

Jamie has my whole heart and needs protected at all costs.

Waaay too many sex scenes for my tastes, though. I skipped over like 2/3rds of them cuz I got bored.
