Puck Me #3

Logan

One thing about me -- I don't do relationships.

There's only one love for me and that's hockey. Playing for the Sunnyvale Hawks hockey team is my life.

I don't have time for clingy girlfriends, salacious stories, and drama that could destroy my NHL future. One-night stands and no strings attached is how I roll. However, I've somehow found myself caught up in everything I've tried to avoid. One fight during a game, a drunken night at a bar, and a hook-up that should have remained hidden have all ultimately changed my entire life.

I'll do anything to achieve my hockey dreams -- and staying out of trouble is the key to that success. I've got to fix my mistakes and that means staying away from the coach's wild and reckless daughter. She’s wild, carefree, and sexy as sin. I should stay away from her – but I don’t have the strength to do it.

I just hope the coach doesn’t tell me to Puck Off once he learns that I’m secretly dating his daughter.

Ashlynn

In my father's eyes, I've always come second to hockey.

As a kid, I grew to the despise the sport that took my father away from me. Now that I'm in college, he has forced me to attend Sunnyvale University, the same school where he coaches the Sunnyvale Hawks Hockey team. All I have to do is stay out of trouble and not embarrass my father.

However, I love trouble, and trouble loves me. Now, after a hot one-night stand, I quickly realize the guy who I can’t get out of my head, also plays for my father as a Sunnyvale Hawk. Getting involved with one of his star players may be the perfect recipe for disaster, but it's also my chance to have some fun and maybe fall in love.

A longtime escapist into books, M.A. Lee began writing cozy mysteries and romances when other sources of that gold ran out. The gold nuggets of Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, Andre Norton, Phyllis A. Whitney, and Elizabeth Peters inspired her to write her own nuggets, even if they're only pyrite.

Look for the Into Death series, set after World War I, and the other books in the Hearts in Hazard series.

Favorite Books of all Time:
Mary Stewart's My Brother Michael.
Mary Stewart's This Rough Magic.
Georgette Heyer's Venetia.
Ellis Peters' The Virgin in Ice.
Andre Norton's Year of the Unicorn

Authors that I will recommend beyond the influences and the favorites: Dorothy L. Sayers. Tony Hillerman. Tamara Leigh. Patricia Briggs. Lindsay Buroker. Linnea Sinclair. W.R. Gingell. Agatha Christie. C.J. Cherryh.

Ashlynn is a party girl whose parents are least worried about her until she gets roped into a scandal. They ship her to her father's town where he is a coach of the hockey team in a college. In the same college is the hot tempered hockey star who can't seem to stay out of trouble and media attention. When after a bad night, they both meet as strangers in a bar and hook up, they are shocked to find out the true identity of each other.

I hate it when authors take cliches so seriously that even the thoughts and dialogues of the characters are very cliched and cringey.

The first chapter was fine; I was intrigued by Ashlynn, but then came the second chapter and I lost my interest. Logan's point of view was not really good. The writing in his point of view was not great. There was overuse of words. I swear I saw "yelled", "roared", "winks" too many times..

Also, the characters turned from zero to one eighty in a span of few sentences. Like when Logan promises himself he won't screw up again in the second chapter and proceeds to do the same in the next chapter. The character development was too sudden and inconsistent. I also felt they had no real personality. They were being pushed around by people and just went with the flow. After the first few chapters, I almost DNFed it, but I still completed it.

I felt like the whole book was the same way. No real personality development and subpar writing style. I especially hated the scene where Logan told his friends and Topher that it was a mistake with Ashlynn when in the previous chapters he was trying hard to convince her to get on with him when she said the same thing.

Though the concept was nice, I think the writing, plot and the characters need more of an improvement.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. We are back at Sunnyvale University. Logan Blake is the bad boy of the group. He has garnered himself quite the reputation and is going to need more than good looks to get him out of this mess. After making yet another mistake, Logan goes out by himself for a little pity party. This mistake might be the one that ends his promising career. On top of that, he disappointed his mentor and friend, Topher. While out he meets Ashlynn Towers. Ashlynn is new to Sunnyvale University. They spend a wonderful night with each other and thought that would be that. Imagine their surprise when Logan walks into his hockey coach's office and finds Ashlynn sitting there.

Ashlynn is the coach's daughter. She is running away from a few mistakes of her own. She is ready to try to make a go of things and leave that life behind her. Logan and Ashlynn are put together to help Logan's image. What was supposed to be one night turns into a secret tryst. Neither Logan or Ashlynn can afford to mess up again. Logan knows that these interactions could mess up things for his future but he just cannot stay away. Will the secrets come out and destroy everything they are working so hard to achieve? I am really enjoying the series. I can't wait to see how Topher falls.

Ashlynn has been sent to live with dad by her mom & stepfather to stop her wild life in Miami. Her dad, the college hockey coach, has arranged her college admission & private dorm room. Her dad has also arranged for her to have a job with Public Relations for the team. She decides to go have a drink after getting settled in and meets Logan, the goalie for the college hockey team. She doesn't know who he is, and Logan doesn't know that her dad is his coach. They have a one-night stand in her dorm room, and he is gone when she wakes up. Surprise, surprise when Logan arrives for a meeting to repair his reputation after a fight after the team win 2 nights earlier, when he meets the coach's daughter, Ashlynn, since he never knew that the coach had a daughter. Logan wants to see her again. Will they attempt to see each other more? Will they be able to do it without being caught? Ticking timebomb?.

Ashlynn has gotten herself shipped off to varsity and work at the small university where her dad coaches the hockey team after one too many wild nights partying with friends.

And Logan is benched after his wild night partying after a win for their team.

When they get thrown together by Ashlynn's Dad, and his coach, attraction starts, and they actually end up growing up and developing some maturity together.

This is a fun quick read if you enjoy new adult stories and can deal with kids having to develop a bit through the story. There are definitely times you wanna grab them and knock some sense into them.

I love how Ashlynn & Logan meet (at a bar after a particularly rough day for very different reasons) and the next day find out how they will be in each other’s lives going forward. These two share a common person in their lives (Ashlynn’s dad is Logan’s coach) who they feel won’t support them, especially since their relationship is so new and undefined. So they started a secret relationship where they took the time together to know each other. I loved reading about their stolen moments together!

I loved how Logan consistently put Ashlynn first and even though Ashlynn hadn’t shared much about her past how he kept showing up for her unconditionally.

I really enjoyed this book and hope you do too.

Loved Ashlynn and Logan.

Ashlynn has just moved to Sunnyvale because she's become to much for her mom and her stepdad. So now that she's her and starting college, she doesn't know what to think.

Logan's just gotten into another fight. So he's out drinking his feelings when he meets the cute girl. Only he gets the surprise of her being his coaches daughter.

They both realize that they have more feelings for each other and want to try for more. But will coach get in their way or will he give them his blessing?.

Star player and coaches daughter...let the game begin

Puck Off is the third book in the Puck Me Series. I have enjoyed this series and this story about Ashlynn Towers and Logan Cohen is a solid addition to it. The story finds about a relationship that develops between one of the star players and the coaches daughter. So can anyone say forbidden and more than a few secrets. These two could be doomed or could shot the winning goal....it just depends on what they decide they are willing to do.

This book is a quick and delightful romantic read. While the plot may be predictable, it doesn't detract from the book's charm as a relaxing and fun escape. Perfect for those looking for a lighthearted romance to breeze through, this book proves to be an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Ideal for a cozy afternoon or a peaceful break from the daily grind.

Party Girl Antics

Not only does Logan get disciplined by his hockey coach for unbecoming behavior but it turns out he slept with the coach's daughter Ashlynn. Lighthearted and fun to read, I found it to be charming once Logan and Ashlynn found their footing with each other.

Coaches Daughter

The ending of this felt a little rushed. I loved the storyline and the characters and wish the end would have matched the pace of the rest of the book
