Kingdom. Family. Love. Which will shatter? Which can she save?
Air may not pummel, scorch, and drown like the other elemental magics, but with Arabella wielding it, it might be the strongest power.
When the Queen reveals the heir to her throne will be determined by a competition rather than birthright, the first born Prince of Earth’s rage quakes the palace, and Arabella feels the shock to her bones.
Trials between four siblings—four elements—are bound to be quite the show. Enough to distract from escalating problems throughout the continent.
Arabella will already have a new title soon, but her betrothal does not change the fact that she must compete. If the crown would let her have more moments that ignite her skin and send her heart racing with Tomas, this would be the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s his dark hair and blue eyes that pool heat in her belly.
Alas, if she wins, she’ll spend the rest of her life facing everything she can’t have.
Princess of Air is the spicy first book in the Elements of Royalty epic fantasy romance series. This whirlwind adventure is perfect for lovers of snarky heroines, gripping tension, and steamy desire.
Natalie has a bookcase with a ladder and is on a texting level relationship with her local indie bookstore owner, so her life had peaked. But then she quit drinking coffee and alcohol so she can still be miserable enough to write books.
Natalie's journey through genres is a dance of witty banter and captivating narratives. Her young adult dystopian series, Falling & Uprising, is a TikTok star. Her repertoire spans from the intricate realms of science fiction and fantasy, where her name is synonymous with imaginative escapism, to the heartfelt and humorous lanes of contemporary romantic comedy, set to debut in 2025 under the pseudonym Natalie Acosta.
The Princess of Air by Natalia Cammaratta is an exciting Fantasy/Romantasy that seems to be the first in a series as the ending is left open. Arabella, the Princess of Air, and her three siblings share powers that one belonged to their mother, the Queen. Each sibling draws strength in an elemental magic; Earth, Air, Water and Fire. When the Queen's power is nearly completely gone and her kids are coming into their full powers, she announces that there will be a trial between the four siblings to see who takes control of the monarchy as the new King or Queen. As with any change of power, there is weakness, and a neighboring city takes advantage by trying to overthrow the siblings. Is it enough to bring the siblings back together? Rating: 2 ★ Age range: 18+ Spice: 1/5 Genre: Fantasy romance My review: Spoiler free
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Plot/setting:
The plot was decent but I thought that everything was dragged out and when it came to the trials, it felt as if it lasted all of five minutes. The ending seemed rushed but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I also loved both of the possible love interests, Tomas and Jamys but it broke my heart to see the fate of one of them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Writing:
The writing is simple and easy to get into, but it's as though I'm reading a textbook. It's mediocre to say the least and that sometimes made me disinterested in the story to the point that I considered DNFing the book.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overall thoughts:
I think that this is a great book that many will enjoy but it personally wasn't for me although that's probably because I haven't exactly read any books about royals and lords, etc. However, I am absolutely going to continue the series when the other books are published since I did enjoy Arabella's story despite the flaws I observed.
Thank you to BookSirens for providing me with my first ever ARC! All opinions are wholly mine.
Thank you Netgalley and Author Natalie Camarratta for this early arc copy for an Honest review.
I DNF this around page 100.
I truly tried to give this my best shot but It just wasn't for me but that doesn't mean you cant try it.
I still fully support this author and would love to try something else by her
this book was a regal hunger games.
my personal thoughts ~this felt like a history book to me ~ I couldn't get into it. I never wanted to pick it up ~ it felt like hunger games which just isn't my vibes
Thank you to NetGalley and Bees & Honey for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I had so much fun reading this! It felt like Avatar the Last Airbender and Bridgerton came together, had children, then proceeded to make their kids compete for the throne in a Throne of Glass style competition.
The writing was simplistic in the best way possible. It didn't feel like word vomit to throw as much information in as possible in an attempt at world building, which I feel a lot of first books in series end up doing. The chapters were short, easy to read, and very easy to accidentally stay up until 3AM reading.
The dialogue at times was a little stiff, and there were a few things that might have benefitted from a bit more explanation, but none of that impacted the story or reading experience negatively.
I loved most of the characters, this was definitely a more character driven story. The royal family, their sibling dynamic, and their elemental powers reflecting their personalities was MWAH!!!! No notes!!!!
Meanwhile, Arabella's two love interests.... They were both written very well and honestly I couldn't figure out who she was going to go for. I felt like one of them didn't really deserve her, while the other deserved so so sooooo much more than what he got.
My main complaint is probably where that love interest's story ended up. Plot wise? It made sense and I'm sure we'll learn more in the next book. Emotionally? Not. Cool. :(
I will 100% be reading the next book. The world building and magic system were top notch, so I'm excited to see where book 2 goes. :)
A magical book filled with adventure, family rivalry and forbidden love that will leave your heart aching. The last pages of this book were perfect and they left me wanting to read the next book RIGHT AWAY, but I have to wait.
The following will contain spoilers.
I never knew I wanted Air as a power over Water, Fire and Earth, but this story showcases so perfectly exactly what can be done with Air, and now I’m left so confused because I don’t know which power I would choose.
I didn’t find this book predictable, which is super important to me. I feel like nowadays there’s so many books that are not exciting or intriguing simply because you know exactly where the story will lead. I did guess that Ara would eventually end up being Queen, buuuut I couldn’t possibly guess as to how! Also, when Jamys died I gasped so freaking loud. That came out of nowhere.
I did find that the pacing was a little odd at times, especially when they kept moving from place to another, but besides that, I really enjoyed this book!
I really enjoyed Princess of Air! The banter and witty remarks from all the siblings drew me in quickly!
I love the powers came from the elements and that they were split between siblings. It made it different than other books and loved how this really focused on the royal family and their relationships.
The main character Ara I really connected with and loved everything about her! Her two love interests I enjoyed as well. I did gravitate more towards one more than the other but was crushed at the same time that she didn’t put much effort into one of them and also how it ended really surprised me and wish it could’ve taken a different turn somehow.
I am 100% happy with who she ends up with and want more of them and hope there will be another book for them in the series!
I saw there will be a book more focus on Marcus one of the siblings and can see his being intriguing too as I feel we got the least amount on him in this book.
I will 100% be continuing this series as I loved the characters and elemental magic. I can’t wait to see where the series goes!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bees & Honey for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book is a great kickoff to a new romantasy series! The magic system, with each sibling controlling different elements, totally captivated me, especially Arabella and her mastery over air. Arabella’s wit, sarcasm, and inner strength made her such a compelling protagonist amidst the backdrop of a kingdom in turmoil and a challenging competition for the throne. And the twists and turns of her romantic entanglements kept me hooked until the very end. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.
I honestly enjoyed this book. I rate honestly, unlike some people (Megan) who give five stars to make people like her. I don't need anyone to like me I live in Canada. Who's gonna find me up here?
Back to the book. The magic system was fun! Sibling rivalry. A bit of mystery. Trials. Some romantasy. And twists even I didn't guess and I am a good guesser. Like seriously impressed by the twists.
The character banter is sassy the way I like it. I even laughed carrots out my nose. Warning don't read during eating.
I only give 5 stars to books I really like. And I can’t help it if I only pick good books to read. I just have a good picker. Unlike people who choose to live in Canada.
Anyways. This book had me hooked from the very first line. I love books that give me intermittent world building instead of info dumping on me in the beginning and slowing the pacing down.
The magic system is so fun. And it was giving me Avatar vibes with the merry band of absolute misfits with elemental powers that are the Exos siblings.
I almost deducted a star for Natalie’s inability to pick the right love interest, but apparently I just fall for the wrong men. No matter who you fall in love with, your heart will be ripped out a time or two. Full of adventure, love, betrayal and sibling rivalry, this book is ready to be your next 5 star romantasy.
Though this was an intriguing concept, the pacing of the story made it difficult to follow and stay connected. In my opinion, there were too many questions left unanswered by the end for me to truly say I enjoyed the story. Do I regret reading it? Absolutely not. Would I choose to read it again? Probably a pass.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you Netgalley for an e-ARC of this book. It was a good read but for some reason I felt the pace a little too low for me. It felt like the story was all over the place though.
I don't even know where to start to describe how much I loved this story. It was simply amazing.
Princess of Air is a romantasy revolving around Arabella, who is able to control air, and her siblings who control the other elements. Trials will determine who will be the next heir of Alchos and this showcases how the elemental magic works in this world. Natalie does a very good job at describing the magic system, which is easy to follow but also very exquisite at the same time.
"Magic isn't a gift given to us to play with - it's a tool we must use to aid and guide Alchos."
Ara also tries to gain trust from the kingdom due to some suspicious events in the kingdom. However, she also has personal problems to deal with. Will she do what's best for her kingdom and marry her betrothed, Jamys, or will she follow her heart and come clean about her affair with Tomas? Ara does have a surprising ally in all her battles; her element. During the book, we learn how Ara controls air and it's almost unlimited possibilities. But what really surprised me, is how air also helps her in times of uncertainty.
"Giving up control in some situations can be rather liberating."
I was hooked on this story from the first page and I cannot wait for the next book in this series. The world building was amazing and really contributed to this. Since it was so well written, I could really feel the internal struggles, but also the strength of the sibling dynamics. I'm in awe of Natalie and the way she went about this story. I genuinely felt like I were part of it and I have to know what is going to happen next. It's an amazing first book of a new series, in which you'll ride an emotional rollercoaster. I highly recommend this book to anyone, it is like a breath of fresh air.
A major thank you to NetGalley and Bees & Honey for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED this book! I received an ARC from Netgalley, and I was so excited to read it. It did not disappoint. There was magic, action, and of course romance.
This book will make you cheer for the MCs while also breaking your heart over a death that occurs.
The Princess of Air follows fun and exciting magical powers held by four siblings, each possessing a power of natural elements passed down from their mother; Earth, Fire, Water and Air. The Queen, their mother, decides to host trials to see who will become King/Queen of the kingdom. As the trials proceed, many elements in our main characters life, Arabella, become complicated and she has more on her plate than just going against her siblings for the throne.
This story takes an exciting turn, including elements of arranged marriages, forbidden relationships and sibling bonds being explored. The story kept me reading on, and I am very excited to continue the story in future books. The love interest plot was exciting to read, and kept me up late wanting to read on. The ending of the story allowed for more to be explored in future books, which I will definitely be picking up to read!
Thank you NetGalley and Bees & Honey Publishing for allowing me an early readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Princess of Air is a beautifully written, whimsical opener to the world of the Elements of Royalty series. It focuses on Princess of Air, Arabella, whose 3 siblings each wield one of the other elements. Arabella herself is a well rounded, likeable and witty character. She’s very sweet and devotes herself to her family, friends and kingdom. The air that she wields is written as more of a friend than a power she controls, constantly settling her when needed and saving her when she falls. It is a lovely relationship to read and I’m intrigued and excited to read how the other 3 siblings interact with their own elements. Just like the air, we as readers desperately want to see her rise up each time she fails - truly the mark of a good character!
Arabella and her 4 siblings have a genuine and realistic connection that helps embrace you in the wonderful world the author has created. Every little detail written in, whether it be the witty sibling banter or a small extra description of the village, pulls you further and further into this enticing story. One thing that elevates the book is the romance Arabella has. She finds two deserving and lovely partners to possibly pair with and for the majority of the book I found myself unsure of who to root for as they were both so sweet. Arabella faces this same turmoil, torn between duty and passion, but eventually picks the best option (I’m defo biassed)
What sets this book apart from the rest is the world building that made this world a wonderful dream but also so very lived in it felt as comfortable as your own home. Even the characters who do things that you don’t like are so very realistic and relatable in their reasoning or emotions that you totally understand why they do the things they do. However the antagonists are written equally well, tying the story with a lovely little bow that clears up the books individual mystery but leaves much story to be told in the future!
All in all, a beautiful story that I’ve already recommended to people and I highly anticipate the second instalment. I loved it!
"Princess of Air" by Natalie Cammaratta deserves a solid 5-star rating in my book! This romantasy tale follows a princess endowed with powerful air magic as she competes against her siblings for the throne. Filled with witty banter, sibling rivalry, royalty, trials, love triangles, forbidden romance, and arranged marriages, this book kept me thoroughly engaged from start to finish.
While I'm not typically a huge romantasy reader, this story had me completely hooked. It evoked vibes reminiscent of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," but with a twist—here, the lead characters are siblings vying for the crown, adding an intriguing dynamic to the narrative.
The synopsis perfectly captures the essence of the book, teasing the fierce competition among the elemental siblings while hinting at the tantalizing romance and complex relationships that unfold throughout the story. Arabella's journey is one filled with tension, passion, and the weight of responsibility as she navigates the trials of royalty and love.
Prepare to be swept away on an emotional rollercoaster ride with Princess of Air. From the very first page, readers are enveloped in the heartwarming bond of sibling camaraderie that feels so genuine, it's as if you're right there beside the characters, experiencing their laughter, tears, and triumphs. But what sets this novel apart is the beautifully woven secret romance, simmering beneath the surface, adding layers of intrigue and passion that will leave you breathless.
As the story unfolds, we witness the evolution of the main character, Arabella, in a way that is both captivating and deeply relatable. Every emotion, every struggle, every moment of growth is palpable, as if the author has reached into your soul and pulled out your own experiences. From moments of heartache to bursts of joy, you'll feel it all as if it were happening to you.
But perhaps what makes this book truly remarkable is its ability to transport readers into the heart of the story, allowing them to not just observe, but to fully immerse themselves in the world created by the author. Whether it's through the vivid descriptions of the setting or the richly drawn characters that leap off the page, you'll find yourself completely engrossed from beginning to end.
In the end, it’s more than just a novel—it's an experience. It's a journey of love, loss, and self-discovery that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page. So buckle up and get ready for a ride you won't soon forget.
Thank you Bees & Honey and NetGalley for providing this ARC!
This was an exciting and simple fantasy book that led the main character through both fun and difficult challenges throughout the story.
I was so hooked at the beginning of this book: the magic system, the fun MC and family dynamics and world building was really well done! The writing was simple, fun and cheeky and with the short chapters it was a great combination. Though the book didn’t seem very high stakes as most things felt like they were fixed quickly with not much danger? This didn't have any negative effect though, it was light and breezy (pun very much intended)
The characters and most importantly the family dynamic was fun, I’m intrigued to find out more about each sibling as the series continues but I would have loved just a little more understanding between the 4 of them as there was this strange sibling rivalry during the trials (understandably) that felt like there was more going on than what we were being presented with and I think it would have been fun to explore.
The love interests though… it was fun at the beginning, made things exciting and risky but the more it dragged on, the more i felt like neither of the two were good love interests. I felt like because you are trying to explore two options, it never gave me enough to root for either of them. And the ending for one of them felt so… anticlimactic? and not what I was expecting but in a negative way :( that character deserved so much more and it made me a little confused finishing the rest of the book after. There was a point early on where I could guess who Arabella was going to end up with but the way it happened just didn’t hit right. Though, I liked the glimpses we got of them before the main events of the story took place, I think the two of them would have benefited from more of these moments where we understand why they love each other but I couldn’t get behind it for a lot of the story.
The magic system was so fun to read! Ara’s air powers were done really well for the most part! I loved all the ways the author was able to use air to Ara’s advantage. The only thing that would throw me off was the whole flying aspect, this may be because I just found it hard at times to picture but it would just be a little jarring to read, though there were some cute moments! The world building was good, but I think there is so much more to explore with the Gods and magic and I hope to see it in the next ones!
Plot wise, the mix of the trials, romance and the odd things happening around the kingdom and how that unfolds in the last quarter of the book was simultaneously exciting but also felt a little out of place because i felt like it all happened so fast and new magic was involved, it almost felt like a different story, the end ‘battle’ was also a little lacklustre (?) to me. The epilogue left me wanting more though so definitely wanting to read the next one and explore the other siblings too!
If you want a fun, simple and good introduction to a new fantasy series to get into, I would recommend this to someone who enjoys a royal setting with a challenging trial aspect that plays into family dynamics!
Great book! It is full of whimsical elemental magic, friendly sibling rivalry and love, and witty banter. You are immediately thrown into action and the story line evolves at a steady clip. World building takes place throughout the book, which I enjoyed compared to many fantasy books where the first 100+ pages are spent explaining the world and characters.
Arabella is quick on her feet, compassionate, and looks out for those around her all while being a little rebellious. Her internal conflicts are so human, it is impossible not to relate to her. We watch as she grows into herself throughout the book and as she weighs the importance of the priorities she thinks she should have for the good of the kingdom vs. what she wants deep down—which ends up being even better for the kingdom.
The love interests take you through a whirlwind of emotions and the plot twists keep you on your toes! I pride myself on being good at predicting some of the unlikely events in books and I did not predict a SINGLE one!
Stylistically the one thing that did throw me off a bit was the dialogue. The book makes a point about how familiar and casual the royals and family friends are with each other, but the dialogue was very formal, verging on stiff. I still loved the book, it just took a little getting used to.
There were a few questions left unanswered, so I look forward to reading the next books in the series!
This one is WONDERFUL!!! I can't shut up about it!!
They're four siblings and all of them have magic!! earth, air, water and fire. This is so COOL 🤝🏽✨💘.
This is a romance book however I found myself craving the siblings trails like crazy. Remarkable the way Natalie describe their magic and the things they can do with it. Also I loved their relationship, is not perfect but it's real 💖. And at the end, the important thing is who is with you in the worst moments and these siblings support each other.
And let me talk about something I freaking loved: Ara (princess of air) magic is air, however the author described her air magic not like something Ara can manipulate but as a friend. Air is with Ara as friend and Ara is with the Air as friend too. It was super lovely how always the air helped her even when Ara didn't realise it or didn't want to 😭.
I'm not lying when I'm telling you I couldn't put this book down. I only rest some hours with four chapters left because I didn't want to finish it.
One more thing: I LOVE FANTASY BOOKS and these one is a cherry 🍒.
Thanks to BookSirens and Natalie Cammaratta for providing this Arc.
Summary: Princess of Air is a captivating fantasy romance about magic, rising tension between kingdoms, and a trial between siblings for a crown. Think Avatar (the last airbender, not the blue people) vibes but make it royal with sibling rivalry, a kingdom on the precipice of war, and a steamy love triangle that'll have you locked in like a midday soap opera.
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this one! There was rich character development, and I loved the focus on elemental magic (Earth, Fire, Air, Water). Pace and flow were good, although the plot was a bit predictable. Romance was steamy with just the right amount of tension and drama. Loved the rep for strong female lead in this one as well, and the who-dunnit side plot added some extra pizzaz to the story. Overall, it was a cozy, enjoyable read, and I would recommend it for anyone who likes immersive fantasy, elemental magic, and a story with some steam but not too spicy.
Princess of Air Review Genre: Romantasy Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️
I was hooked from the first page. 4 royal siblings, each with an elemental power, have to compete in trials to determine who is fit to rule their kingdom, Alchos. This story follows Arabella’s POV, who controls air and is battling between what she wants and her family duty. Arabella’s character development is really well done. I felt connected to Ara and really liked her strength and witty personality. She knew what she wanted and has a strong sense of self. Of course, all my favourite fantasy novels have romance and this one is without exception. The romance in this story is perfect. It is a slow burn with twists and turns that kept me enticed. There were some surprises that shocked me as there had been no lead up to it. They left me with more questions which I am sure will be answered in the next books. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series, Elements of Royalty, so I can continue this magical story and get to know the other siblings better.
-forbidden lovers -love triangle -close family but with rivalry -adventure -magic
This was a great start to an exciting & easy to follow new romantasy series! I really enjoyed the magic system with different elements controlled by each of the four siblings, and I especially liked the MC Arabella and all that she could do with her power over air. Not only was she powerful and compassionate, but also very witty & sarcastic. Things get interesting when the siblings learn they are to compete in a tournament for the title of heir to the throne, while also dealing with unrest & disappearances in the kingdom.
There’s a sort of love triangle situation between Arabella, a childhood friend, and the prince of a neighboring kingdom. Although Arabella’s choice wasn’t surprising, I was definitely shocked by how certain things turned out. The love interest won me over by the end and Arabella’s story was wrapped up nicely while also leaving things open for the next book.
I think this was a good first installment of a series, and I enjoy the premise of each sibling holds power over a certain element. I’m not sure what the plan is for the rest of the series, but with the ending it almost seems as if each book is going to focus on a sibling, and if so, I love that! Because I felt like the big part of Arabella’s story was told— especially with that unexpected turn of events. I felt bad about it but in the end it really was for the best plot wise. I am curious what happened though and wonder if it will be answered in later books! I don’t exactly agree with what happened only because one deserved better.
Overall, I liked the romantic plot— a little bit of a love triangle but kind of also not. It had a hunger games element to it with the siblings needing to fight it out for the crown. I would have loved more focus on those battles and I enjoyed it enough to read the next novels to see how this progresses!
"Princess of Air" by Natalie Cammaratta is an enchanting read that masterfully explores the complexities of power, family, and forbidden love. The first book in the Elements of Royalty series introduces Arabella, the sassy and powerful Princess of Air, who must compete with her siblings for the throne.
The book starts off fairly slow in the first third, but it really hits its stride after that point. The story is rich with tension and steamy desire, especially as Arabella navigates a love triangle involving her best friend's brother and her arranged marriage. The magical competition and authentic relationships kept me hooked from start to finish. Natalie’s beautiful writing brings this vibrant world to life. I highly recommend adding this to your TBR!
Thank you, MTMC Tours and Natalie Cammaratta, for providing me with a review copy. All opinions are unbiased and my own. 🖤
I loved the idea for this book, the elemental magic, the forbidden love, the trials were all brilliant and there were some really unique ideas within the book. Whilst at times Arabella was annoying, it made her real and relatable. I loved some of the other characters (Nina & Tomas) whilst some of them came across selfish and annoying (Rylan), they all had depth and it’s easy to see how they will go on to have their own books.
The reason this wasn’t a four star read for me was that sometimes the writing felt a little messy and rushed. I found it hard to keep up with what was real life vs what was a flash back especially at the start of the book and in other parts the sentence structure didn’t seem to flow very well.
I would definitely considered reading the rest of the series, it was a light and easy read (not stressful like some fantasy books are) and think it will keep getting better and better!
Thank you netgalley and bees & honey for the gifted arc in exchange for an honest review.
Dnf 25%
I loved the premise of this book and was really looking forward to it. I really love books with royalty and/or elemental magic, so I was drawn to this story.
Unfortunately, this is a Dnf for me. I found the execution lacking and I cannot get into this book. The plot is pretty flat and I was quite bored while reading this. The pacing is kind of all over the place with the random and, imo, unnecessary flashbacks. At 25%, I think I should have a good understanding of where the story may be going or at least see some plot happening, but that’s not the case here.
I really do not like any of the characters either. I cannot say if they go through any development, but I’m not invested enough to find out. Arabella is really annoying with this love triangle. One of the interests clearly doesn’t care about her and the other she is just leading on. I’m not a big fan of that. I found the dynamic between the siblings to be really immature, considering they are supposed to be competing to literally rule a kingdom.
This is something minor for me, but I think the marketing of this book should be reworked as well. This is NOT a spicy book. It’s closed door and reads more like YA. Again, spice doesn’t matter to me and I enjoy YA, but it’s misleading for those who may not enjoy those things.
These are just my honest opinions and just because it’s not for me, doesn’t mean it won’t be for you!
** I received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review **
An interesting world within which only a few people are believed to have magic. What an interesting concept to have the main 'powerful' element being air which is usually portrayed as the weakest or least exciting, the author sure made this one exciting. I appreciated the character development although sometimes I was pulling my hair out at how clueless the main character was before she got to that development, but, that may be what makes this book so hard to stop reading. There is a young adult theme with this book but it's like it is trying to be adult, so be aware of some mild spicy scenes being explained.
I’m not a huge romance lover so if you are going to give me romance you better balance the story out with something else. This book brought it with a world full of magic and conflict that all perfectly intertwined with the romance.
There are so many magic systems out there and this elements system is a first for me. I truly enjoyed it.
On top of that as a pretty avid reader I think it’s hard to fool me but this book had twists and turns that even threw me for a loop.
All and all it was a great read and I can’t wait for book 2.
Thanks to the Author for a chance to be an ARC reader.
