Christ...

I should have known what I was letting myself in for after reading one of the authors other novellas, Fertile Fields. Somehow, it slipped my mind. I needed more time to recuperate from that one, before reading this.

Four Hispanic college students: Robby, Diana, Jorge and Misti, enter unknown territory when they go on a road-trip from San Antonio to Californa. They are pulled over by a (fake) small town sheriff, who accuses them of being illegal immigrants, they're cuffed - and driven to a location up in the mountains/hills where there's a small town, unlike any other.

Each of them gets sold to some of the residents of this small community. Robby is taken to someone known as, Doc. I visualised the 'Doc' as a cross between the surgeon in the 'Re-animator' movie, the chef on the Muppet Show - and Dr Frankenstein. He's got some of the most craziest experiments and projects in the pipeline - and its going take a while for me to eradicate those images from my mind; especially with what happens to Angela, one of the Doc's guests' who has been held captive for quite a while. This is worth reading just for that scene. Doc, and his 'barn of horrors' is the highlight of the book.

Diana is taken to Roy and his nephew, Scooter, who waste no time in having some fun with her. There's another person being held in their abode, Tina, who ends up doing a doozy of a pole-dance - doozy being the operative word.

Jorge is given to a small elderly woman, Gilda, who has the sexual appetite of a T-Rex.

And Misti becomes the property of Buck. I'm not sure what to say about what happens to Misti; except, it's not good. Well, it's not good for any of them - come to think of it.

What motivates the people in this small town, to do what they do? Well, we get a little insight as to why they do these horrific acts.

Each of the main characters go through some of the most torturous acts you can imagine. That being said, some of it was strangely amusing.

This is one hell of a gore-fest, with more fluids flying around in the first half of this novella, than you'll see at an annual porn convention - I'm guessing.

In summation: an over-the-top extreme horror novella, that doesn't shy away from the blood, guts and gore. It's not that realistic: because the human body can only take so much, before it goes into automatic shutdown. The victims seemed to last longer than I would have expected; considering the excruciating pain that was inflicted upon them. Plus, the dialogue was a bit silly at times. There's a sequel 'Return to Hell, Texas' - that I'll check out, sometime, to see how the story pans out.

Hell, Texas would be the degenerate progeny if The Human Centipede and Tusk had a love child. This book is an amalgam of all the evil and inhumane things in the world. Holy shit.

I’m used to reading/watching splatterpunk genre and torture porn movies so I’m not bothered by depraved acts and sadistic compulsions in a book but still, this whole experience was rather demoralising as a woman.

Jorge, Misti, Diana and Robby were college students driving through Texas on a roadtrip, they were pulled over by Sheriff Cutter, handcuffed and sold to the residents of Hell, Texas. It was a nightmare no waking up from.

This is an OK book. If you are prepared to have night terrors after reading this, then help yourself.

You're just driving along with friends when you suddenly get pulled over for no reason and taken to a town in the middle of nowhere. Your life is suddenly not your own and you have just arrived to hell on earth. A very twisted story...can you survive? Not for the faint of heart or those with queasy stomachs.

This was a short fast paced read. Welcome to Hell Texas where a group of sociopaths decided to take revenge to another level . You have the Dr. who turns humans into atrocities, the old lady who loves to watch/commit vile sex acts, the uncle who likes to buy his nephew new toys. This book was violent and gory from the get go. I highly recommend to those who like extreme books. Be warned of extreme violence, rape , racism and pure fuckery !

I like my gore with a good plot. There is some plot here, but it is rushed. I didn't give one hoot about any of people in the book. Not even the victims because they died soon as we learned their name. I will pass on the other books in this series.

An absolutely fantastic introduction to the work of Tim Miller.

This story has everything for horror fans; gore, shocks, suspense. It also has a brilliant story which takes place over the course of a couple of days but manages to make the reader feel like they have known the characters for much longer.

Totally unbelievable in parts, but that just added to the surrealism of the book.

I really enjoyed this and can't wait to read more from Tim Miller.

What a ride!
I liked this book.
I think what makes it stand out from the extreme horror crowd, is that is builds a certain empathy for the victims.
I actually found myself hoping they could get out alive, when usually I'm just ready for the bloodbath.
The whole Robbie thing was a little far fetched for my liking and the ending just didn't really wash with me.
But this is fiction and it was a pretty cool idea.
But overall, I really enjoyed it.
I'm starting to really like this author.

Four young Hispanic-Americans enter a town with a grudge against Hispanics, and are horribly abused. A violent and bizarre story, decently written, although the characters were somewhat superficial. Still, I enjoyed it as I enjoy most of Mr. Miller's stories.
