Aliens have come to earth in search of one thing... Females. Alita has spent the majority of the invasion hiding away from aliens and humans alike, disguising herself as a boy to evade detection. Things turn south when a particular alien lands in her survivors camp along with human cultists determined to stop the aliens and prevent them from completing their mission at all costs, even if it means killing any girls they come across. Alita is left with only two choices when she's discovered, run or fight.
I enjoyed the 1st book more than the 2nd. I might read the 3rd book just because it's a prequel to the 1st book, but I had a difficult time finishing the First to Rise. Some other reviews say it's an alternate universe from the 1st and 3rd book, but in my experience alternate universe stories collid with other universes with the same characters so you end up with doubles of the same characters in 1 story. First to Rise did not have any over laps with Last to Fall it was it's own separate universe in it's own separate book. None of the characters with the same names magically teleported from the 1st book to the 2nd, creating the usual alternate universe circumstances. It was more like the author reused/recycled all the characters, creatures, and planets of the 1st book and made a totally different story with them. The book was well written, but I don't care for recycling characters, it makes it feel unoriginal to me. I paid for the points to read the whole book so I will probably finish the book, but from various book summaries I've noticed a lot of authors on Galatea recycle their characters and I really don't like that unoriginality when I read so I'll be dropping the whole app after I'm done with the Last to Fall triology even if I don't go to the 3rd book.
Loved this book! Enjoyed the fact that it was just a different version or way the story was but still kept the key points the same. Never thought I’d be addicted to this series as much as I am! Great read, love the juicy details and all the excitement that happens. This author makes the book and easy read all while keeping your attention the entire time.
This book is an alternative universe to Last to Fall, and to be honest I actually like it better. The bonus scene were a great addition to the story. I definitely recommend this book if you like scoff and aliens
LOVED this book so much - it was an alternative story to how Azereil and Alita meet and I did prefer the first book just because they had more of a “meeting/ together through convenience” type relationship where they learned about each other and you could read how they slowly realised they love each other, whereas this book kinda rushed that and went straight into “I like her and want her to be my wife” type shi without actually going all the way if u get me.😏 So it wasn’t rushed rushed. It just didn’t have the slow build up the first book did.
{so the first book’s plot was more centred around romance and how they learned from eachother}
However the ending of this book I liked more- the first books ending felt rushed and like it had to all quickly tie together whereas this one felt well timed and fit together better with the pace of the story.
{The plot of the second book (this one) was more focused on the enemy humans and their plans- and how the details in the first like 10 chapters became crucial to the ending plot reveal near the end}
i’ve seen the reviews and read through the 1st Chapter, and decided to just not read the book honestly i thought book 2 would continue the story of book 1 but no 💔 i really wanna know more about Az and Alita’s story… not a completely different universe :( i really enjoyed book 1 despite the long waiting time, and i am disappointed with book 2
I think the slow burn was dragged so much and their relationship ended up to be annoying when they got together which made me think to dnf when it returned back to the story line
