"GOLD, GUTS, AND GROG," Part Four Holy vengeance can be a real headache, but it's so much worse when it's coming from a fifteen foot tall lady troll who's just lost her dad. In this blood-splattered issue, the Rat Queens find out that every action has some sort of hilariously brutal consequence!

"Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all god's creatures for profit. It's also a darkly comedic sass-and-sorcery series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief."
If that description doesn't do anything for you, GTFO, because this badass comic series is for true fantasy/DnD fans.
Heroines with varying strengths and flaws instead of the typical extremes of "good over-the-top-cleavage model" and "evil over-the-top-cleavage model", heroines who get their asses kicked and have to manage to heal themselves instead of shrugging off stabs and arrow wounds like so many other comics/manga, a diverse caste with diverse body sizes (including black people and an Asian chick, for real), an intriguing story full of humor, and great full-color art complete this package. I couldn't ask for more.
Some of the negative reviews I've read are from people who just didn't get the fantasy/DnD references -- such as races, classes, gods, or lame-ass guys summoning lame-ass tentacles -- so it's just a matter of knowing what genre you're getting into here.
And to all the haters of this series, I defer to Hannah ~
Humor, Quests, Drinking, Hang Overs & Attitude - not the typical sword and sandal, AD&D or fantasy trope in Rat Queens. This is rebellion, riot grrl, bar crawl with swords and sorcery. Hank Moody would be impressed with the party prowess of these adventurers. Wiebe makes fantasy foul mouthed and 100 proof. Image comics has another hit on racks and it's definitely not those non-drinking age. Enjoy with a chaser!
Let me start with I love the Rat Queens! This is one of my new favorite comics! All of the girls are likeable (if swearing, fighting, crazy girls are your thing) and I couldn't tell you who was my favorite cause I seriously like them all. Each issue is funny, gory, and a little nerdy (+5 on attack rolls against dudes named Gary) These comics are amazing and I can't wait for them all!
Fracking brilliant! I loved how many consecutive pages of solid pummeling that happened this issue. Now I just wanna know what's left for The Four Daves... and yes, shut the fuck up Gary!
