After Hamas’s brutal massacre against Israel in October 2023, the Mossad goes after the terrorist group’s leaders wherever they are. When one of Israel’s targeted killings occurs on Turkey’s soil, that country’s president promises severe retaliation. Now Nir Tavor’s team is in a race against time, alliances, and deadly threats to stop this attack from the skies that could annihilate Israel’s gas fields and destroy their economy.
Amir Tsarfati was born in Israel and has lived there most of his life. Since fulfilling his mandatory service in the Israeli Defense Force, he has continued as a major in the IDF Reserve. Amir has been a tour guide in Israel for the last twenty years, and served as chief tour guide of Sar El Tours and CEO of Sar El Tours and Conferences. In 2001, he became founder and president of Behold Israel – a non-profit organization which provides worldwide real-time access to reliable sources of news and information about Israel from within the powerful context of Bible history and prophecy.
Amir is married to Miriam, and together they have four children. His home overlooks the valley of Megiddo (Armageddon) which is a constant reminder of the call that the Lord has placed on him to teach from the Bible what God’s plans are for the end of times.
I enjoyed this book. While I was not expecting the ending, it still ended on a solid note in my opinion. It held my interest from start to finish; the authors tactfully incorporate current events (the October 7th attack) to help the reader understand the horrors experienced by victims on that horrific day while telling "their" story.
I enjoyed the book. I have enjoyed how the focus of this series is on Israel and not the United States, how it looks at world events from a perspective that is so different than that of America. It's a unique perspective that I have not encountered very much, but it has been eye-opening in some respects. In any case, I am glad I read this book, and I could see myself reading it again.
It definitely helps if you have read the previous Nir Tavor books, especially in knowing the depth of the relationship between Nir and Nicole. That being said, the book can also be read as a standalone. There is a lot of action, humor between the team members, personalities, sad views of actual horrible events (like Oct 7, 2024 in Israel), and imagining future events in Israel. I think we get a fairly accurate glimpse of what it must look like in the planning room of Israeli teams seeking to protect and save their country and it's people. Parts of the book are based on actual events and other parts are events that have not happened, but could happen. We can see in the Middle East many of the very things they've written about coming to pass. While I was reading it, I had to remind myself I was reading a fiction book and not a news report of true events. I have to say, the ending was not expected and I won't say more about it. I highly respect Amir Tsarfati - the co-author, and I tend to imagine Nir as looking and sounding a lot like a younger Amir, who was in the military as a younger man.
The final instalment in this engrossing series starts with a heart wrenching bang! We get to experience the horrors of the October 7 attack and the authors manage it both delicately and with accuracy.
Nir Tavor and his Kidon team are tasked with hunting down the leaders of that horrific event which takes them to various locales. This was written well and kept me on my toes with anticipation.
The story then got a bit sluggish as Israeli's leaders strategise about what's next. Which of their particular enemies will launch the next attack, on what, where and how? It's fascinating to read but slowed down some of the movement of the story.
The action picks up again in the last third of the book when the team spends more time considering one particular nation, their leader being the one that reflects the title of the book. In addition, Nicole Le Roux, Nir's love interest, and Mossad analyst, sometime international model speculates about end times.
The end of the book and series is especially surprising. I'm not sure it was done well, but I'm only one reader. The Author's note at the back is both fascinating and enlightening and great knowing these two authors have more to come with a new series.
Another EXCELLENT Nir Tavor Mossad thriller. A fictional story based on current world events and Biblical prophecy, I just couldn't put it down. Again I was captivated by the adventure and extensive knowledge given through the story. I just absolutely love the group dynamic at CARL, its comedic relief in an otherwise intense adventure is such a joy and I love getting to see what happens next with the members. The ending of this book was also a huge surprise - I'm totally getting the follow-on when it's released.
The writing was good. The characters were even better. This book had a compassionate but absolutely heart-wrenching perspective on the Oct. 7 events in Israel. If I remember right, I think I might have even cried. The plot itself? Great…until the author threw the Rapture in as the ending. Right before our beloved, but unbelieving, main character is finally about to talk to his also reader-beloved believing girlfriend about salvation. Then poof! She’s gone. That really ruined the book for me; it seemed like a writer’s easy way out.
Two stars instead of one because I liked it up until then.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Tsarfati is an Israeli citizen and previously served as a major in the Israeli Defense Forces. Though his writing is particularly focused upon the nation of Israel, it truly covers matters of global concern. He has written many best-selling nonfiction books and this is book four in a series of novels co-written with Steve Yohn, an American pastor. Their goal for these novels has been to deliver an exciting story, and incorporate Biblical and geopolitical truth to give the books a higher purpose.
The four books follow a group of Mossad agents working to prevent terrorist attacks upon Israel and other nations in the Middle East. There is plenty of action and the continuing story line draws from historical and current political developments in the region. This fourth novel has the added element of tragedy, using the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack as the launch point for the story. These chapters deal with it in an appropriate way, but the horror of the real events dwarfs what the novel can portray.
When I ordered the book, I didn’t know the background for the title, assuming it was a reference to a fictional terrorist. Actually, it comes from a very fitting historical reference to the nation of Turkey.
The fictional tale is a page turner, as the Mossad agents and IDF deal with the evil acts of Turkey, Russia, Iran, and Hamas (who are increasingly linked in current events, too). My reading pace picked up further when I saw the fictional storyline was going to highlight an upcoming event described in Bible end times prophecy, the war of Ezekiel chapter 38.
Ezekiel chapter 38 tells us of this coming attack on Israel by a group of countries led by Turkey, Russia, and Iran. The prophecy tells us the who, what, where and why of this war, but doesn’t give us the “when.” The Bible tells how the war ends (Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 describe a supernatural intercession by God), but that does not preclude heroic efforts by real-life equivalents of agent Nir Tavor.
I recommend “The Sick Man’s Rage” for readers who seek relevant reading in the action/thriller genre. Be sure you read the forepart and the Authors’ Note.
The Sick Man's Rage by Amir Tsarfati and Steve Yohn is an eye-opening, fast-paced story taking place in Israel at the time of Hamas's brutal massacre against Israel in October 2023.
The story is fast-paced, yet like any well-told military story, there is a human side threaded throughout. One that lets us get to know the characters, care about them, then, for some, mourn their loss. There is friendly humor, joking, practical jokes, favorite junk foods...never kale, and other human aspects that keep readers grounded in reality. There is also the military jargon that demonstrates this situation really happened to real people.
The authors hold nothing back but attempt to find ways to present this story, even in graphic portions from a perspective that can be understood. The author's note tells how these authors agonized with finding the best way to paint a telling of rape and massacre. Soldiers killing their own people. Cities destroyed. The sorrow of a Middle East conflict.
We are told the Sick Man is a name used to refer to a country. This you will see when you read the book.
I highly recommend this book for its strength in going beyond a news article. It tells of people, their lives, their losses, their hopes, and their strength.
Tsarfati wraps up the series in style, and with a shocking surprise. Nir and Nicole maintain their relationship, in spite of the distance between them. The story starts off relating the horrible events of October 7th. The Kidon team respond as always, but face setbacks that would put any lesser intelligence operators at a loss. The story seems to keep real-to-life pace with the socio-political climate in the mideast. Russia is disclosed as the wizard behind the curtain and their role, just as in present day wartime strategies being played out by the enemies of Israel.
I like that Tsarfati makes several more Texas references in the book, as well as some references to popular films and song lyrics. Nicole pleads with Nir to accept Christ and Nir knows that is the one thing that would keep them from ever being together as a couple. She never gives up on him though, even to the end of the story.
The narrator is perfect and the CARL team personalities are easy to recognize as the writer keeps them consistent and even develops them further.
I don't think it's possible to say enough good things about this book. I've read everyone in this series and I will read anything Tsarfati and Yohn put out in the future. They're just that good. Tsarfati has a gift for taking complex geopolitical situations and breaking them down into a compelling story that is easy to follow while staying true to biblical prophecy. And the characters are so relatable and real that I actually grieve with and for them as the action unfolds. Starting this story with the Oct 7th massacre set a heavy tone, but Tsarfati is able to weave in moments of lightness through a quirky cast of characters. The action is intense but woven in between moments where we can catch our breath while gaining new insight and understanding into the nation of Israel and God's chosen people. But most powerful of all is the way everything written lines up with the truth of God's word. The only thing I don't like is that I'll have to wait for the next one to come out.
I have finished “The Sick Man’s Rage” by Amir Tsarfati and Steve Yohn. This is the fourth book in the Nir Tavor Mossad series of thrillers.
I know this is unusual for me, but I don’t really know how to rate this one. It is very well-written. There were many historical details woven into the story. The gospel is presented in a straightforward way that is appropriate to the story. The characters are relatable. All of this is good. But to tell the truth, I’m just not that fond of fight scenes (which abound) and international politics, both of which are central to the story. The ending was…abrupt. For this reason I’m having difficulty with the rating. A good book that I didn’t much like because it just wasn’t my thing? Hmmm…I guess I’ll give it four stars on the strength of the writing and the overall story.
I think this is the best novel of theirs yet. The plot is well constructed and the historical geo-political information, necessary, is seamlessly interwoven with the story. Some of the exploits may appear unbelievable, but we know what the Israelis are capable of. And the abuse the human body can take when well trained and conditioned is more than we could imagine. Marcus Lutrell's Lone Survivor taught me that. I am disappointed with one important element of the novel, however, which I don't want to name as don't want to add any spoilers. That is what makes this a 4 star, rather than 5, review.
Adventure and action can be found from beginning to end. From the horrific terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023 to the Mossad's attempts to defeat the enemies and bring justice, this book's plot is a series of twist and turns that makes the reader wonder what will happen next. Also, the love story between Nir Tavor and Nicole Le Roux intensifies as Nicole uses Old Testament scriptures from the book of Ezekiel to try and show Nir that the end of days are near, and he needs Jesus. The book's ending will leave you speechless and eagerly anticipating the next book.
I love learning a little more about Israel in every book. This one was emotional for me as it began with the tragedy of October 7, 2023. While respectful, it had to portray the truth, which was difficult to read and remember. Of course, it brought reality into the story, because people are dying at the hands of brutal men. I felt the loss of previous characters whom I enjoyed.
I'm curious if there will be another book in the series and I am a bit at a loss on how it would progress.
These books help me to remember to Pray for Jerusalem.
OH FOLKS! READY FOR TRUE EXCITEMENT ABOUT THINGS TO COME! A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF REDEMPTION
I enjoyed the whole book,,wishing it was 2longer...it shows how all the different offices of intelligence have to work together....and be in great shape mentally and physically and emotionally. Thanks to Amir and Steve...take a rest...life is short. God bless you all..and your families and friends.
I have enjoyed reading this series, A Nir Tavor Mossad Thriller. The beginning was have to read, but it is a clear picture of what the people of Israel face everyday. When we see how the countries of Ezekiel 38 are coming together, we need to make sure all our friends and family know what lies ahead. I am looking forward to see how Nir Tavor works things out in the next series. I will recommend this series to all who coming into our library who like a great thriller to read.
This is my favorite Nir Tavor Mossad series book!! The writing was much better in this book and I have definitely seen an improvement since the first book and would highly recommend the series though it is not for everyone. Still following Nicole and Nir, while reading this book I would forget I was reading and would see this as if it were a movie that was playing. I enjoyed this read and will be looking forward to the next Nir Tavor series.
5 Stars ⭐️
*****Spoiler Dialogue Below*******
Nir and Nicole hadn’t had any opportunity to talk again since that afternoon in his office. That broke her heart. No one could know the time when Jesus would return, but by all accounts, the time was short….she couldn’t help feeling an emptiness in her heart knowing that Nir wouldn’t be there with her.
*Lord, please protect Nir. Watch over him and his team…Bring Nir back home so we can talk. He belongs to You, and I trust You completely with him. Please, in Your time, bring him into Your kingdom.*
—————— I enjoyed reading this book as I related Nicole and have come to understand how Nicole felt when she wanted to save someone she cared about dearly, but also knew that only God can save them and change their heart.
The story gripped me all the way through. You wonder what is fact and what is fiction. The truth of scripture is necessary to understand what God is doing. Thank you for the explanations and how important it is to know this in the salvation plan for man. The sudden ending is confronting.
Although this is fiction, the book reads, as if it were happening in current times. The first few chapters alone are eye-opening. If you are interested in events happening in the Middle East and in Israel you will find this book your time. Although part of a series, you can read it without being in order.
This book was a little different from the others before it. Lots of action, again, but this book ended with a cliff-hanger, which was the rapture of the church. And Amir was left behind. Really, another great installment in Amir's series and I am really looking forward to the next book, which begins a Tribulation series.
Amir and Steve again wove current events into a plausible, fast paced story. Without spoiling the plot, the end has a massive twist that really made me realise that it is all about Jesus. A must read.
I loved this book. The whole series helped me to understand and explained the players in the Middle East. To put into perspective what is happening in real time as compared to Biblical Prophecy in a novel formal.
As always this book in the sequel did not disappoint. Could not put it down and now I wish I hadn’t read it in 3 days. I plan to go back and read the whole series again. If you are new to the series, please read the books in order. You won’t be disappointed ❤️
Excellent book, riveting as usual. Series ended with an unusual twist - removing Nicole out of Nir’s life. Super exciting book, absolutely recommended how it is described how Mossad engages their enemies (allies conform the prophecy of Ezekiel 38).
I love all the books in this series but this is the best. Although I kind of guessed what would happen, with all the breadcrumbs dropped throughout the series, the ending was mind-blowing and beautifully executed.
Absolutely excellent! The reader really connects with these characters. I was stunned be the way the story ended and then I realized it was because it is based on truth that we haven’t yet experienced but it is clearly foretold! Maranatha!
Another brilliant installment, linking Biblical prophecy with modern day - both real and possible - events. Thanks to both the authors getting this published during difficult times. Looking forward to the next one in 2026.
I love everything about the book except for how the ending happened. I feel like he could have had the same things happen at the end, just have at least reworded it so that it ends the story a little better and isn't quite as much of a hanging story.
