In the introduction, United Methodist Pastor and Author David Alexander describes his book The Deep End by saying,
"These chapters contain my reflections on some of the more difficult questions that I believe every person of faith must wrestle with at some point in their journey. They are questions I have grappled with in my own journey. In my work as a pastor, these are questions that people ask me all the time. And while the whole notion of pursuing these questions can be a bit unsettling, I'm convinced that this pursuit is precisely what propels us further on our journey."
If you have ever felt like the process of finding faith feels like you are losing faith, The Deep End is the book for you.
David Alexander is a United Methodist Pastor currently serving in the Central Texas Area. David's passion is teaching and is thrilled to now bring that enthusiasm to his first book, The Deep End.
In the introduction, David describes the theme of that work in this way.

David and his family currently reside in Mansfield, Texas.
This novel would make a great small group workbook. I found myself thinking about the questions posed in each section and could see this being great for the purpose of getting the conversation started. The book is easy to read and doesn’t dwell on topics for too long. I did however find myself wanting more of the anecdotal stories and historical references but that was because I was one-on-one with the words on the page. I feel like that desire could be supplemented with a group study and discussion. The writing and the thought provoking nature of it has me planning to revisit this every few years.
As I read this book, I felt the story in many ways was aimed directly at me. Rev. Alexander emphasizes that we should trust in God completely and let go of doing things our way. As a child I took swimming lessons too many times to count but I never learned to swim. I was afraid of the water. Even though I attended church every Sunday, and youth meetings also, it never occurred to me that I was not putting my trust in The Lord to keep me from drowning. Thank you David Alexander for sharing your story. I highly recommend this book!....Lorraine Brandon
