Having finished his stay in the royal capital for now, Tenma returns to Sagan with a team of powerful companions to challenge the dungeon once again. But this time, Sagan’s dungeons are teeming with more formidable monsters than ever before. He and his party find themselves in trouble when a monster creeps up from the depths, overwhelming even Valley Wind! To add to the chaos, they receive a visit from the king, who just loves surprises...
Tenma’s journey reaches new heights (and depths!) as the Dungeon Revenge arc begins!
I get that this is supposed to be a slice of life story but this is quite frankly teetering on what is tolerable.
This story isn't necessarily bad but it is definitely a huge ripoff at $8. Imagine every filler episode of an anime you ever skipped and forget them. This is the last few books of this story.
This book also focuses a lot of time on food which is funny because literally everything other than the few pages where the horse gets upgraded is incredibly forgettable. If the story for the last few books was a flavor it would be wet cardboard.
Also the comedy is certainly something. I'm not unfamiliar with light novel/manga/anime humor but this story has so much of it, it hurts. I honestly am still mad about the reunion with tenma's grandpa (in book 2 or 3 I dunno it's all a messy blur), his only surviving family member, what could have been a slightly cliche but welcome and wholesome reunion instead ended up with his grandpa fall into a literal pile of poop and then tenma insulting him. I digress.
This story eschews any possible emotional investment for not very funny and sometimes inappropriate comedy that doesn't feel like it fits at all.
Short answer you are literally missing nothing by not buying this. I don't honestly recommend it unless you hate the thought of not spending $8 for no reason.
