The second book in a fun new series about two sisters who love ballet!
Sylvie and Bonnie are sisters who love to dance, but Sylvie is too young for ballet school. One day, Sylvie follows Bonnie to class and can't help peeping her head in! Miss Trisha sees her. "Can you point your toes?" she asks.
With her sister's encouragement, Sylvie steps into the spotlight and proves herself a dedicated ballerina ready for lessons. Sylvie earns a spot in Miss Amy's ballet class, and Bonnie congratulates her with a present--her own leotard and tights!

Ballet Sisters: The Newest Dancer, written by Jan Ormerod. This is a story about two sisters, Bonnie and Sylvie who love to dance. Bonnie is already in a class and Sylvie wants to join her sister in learning ballet. Bonnie and Sylvie share a very special sisterly bond. They love to do everything together. Sylvie wants to follow in her sisters footsteps. At home they practice dancing together.
An excellent book that is easy to read; it’s enjoyable, full of curiosity, excitement, and has a wonderful ending. Any child age 4 to 6 would enjoy reading this book or having the book read to them.
Little sister Sylvie has longingly watched her sister Bonnie go to ballet class. Finally it is her turn. With clear, simple illustrations of diverse dancers and two to four lines of print per page, this is a great title for any dance enthusiast, boy or girl, who is learning to read. (There is one boy dancer in class.) The book has three titled sections, which give the reader the feel of a chapter book. Jan Omerod has written and illustrated numerous books for children, including a previous title featuring the sisters, Duckling And The Swan (Ballet Sisters).
Cute story about a little girl who is just starting to take ballet lessons and the older sister who encourages her. It's a good follow-on to the book The Duckling And The Swan, and shows a close relationship between the sisters. We enjoyed reading this book together.
I can't be objective about this one--after all, I dance and I have two daughters who dance. I just loved this book. Little girls who want to dance will love it too, and Jan Ormerod really captures the feel of dance class with her picture.
"Ballet Sisters: The Newest Dancer" by Jan Ormerod is a sweet story about two sisters who take ballet. The story outlines simple ballet techniques while illustrating the friendship between Sylvie and Bonnie.
Ran across this scanning the early reader section for new books for Natalie. Natalie and I both enjoyed it. Nice artwork. Accurate details about starting dance lessons, including peeking in at older sister's class and the excitement of getting the outfit.
I like reading this simple, well-done book to my children. The authors really captures the sisters' traits, I see the same traits at home lots, especially the dress up pictures!
