Alternate cover edition of ASIN B00HWFLY9C

The fallen have trespassed into Heaven for the first time in eternity. Prepared for battle, Michaela and her Archangels open Heaven’s gates to confront the fallen. Only, Michaela’s Archangels—her brothers and sisters in Heaven—betray her. And when the fallen attack the sanctuary in the skies through the gates Michaela inadvertently left open, the holy angels accuse Michaela of planning the invasion.

One simple mistake with a thousand consequences.

Dragged to Earth by an Archangel turned fallen, Michaela will do anything to return to Heaven and save it. In her fervor, she kills the Archangel—something no angel has ever done before. Wingless, without any hope, Michaela welcomes death when an unlikely human ally, Clark, finds her. With the help of Clark and Gabriel, an innocent Archangel whose friendship deepens into something far more torrid and unexpected on Earth, Michaela must prove the holy angels have their own plan for Heaven, and it is one that may prove to be the End of the Days.

It may be too late to save herself, but Michaela is the only one who knows the truth about the holy angels. If she fails, she may never be able to return to Heaven. But even that may be a hopeless dream.

Props and an extra star to the author for some relatively good writing, though there were a few too many clichés for it to be sustained (think beautiful eyes, bad descriptions and the like).

Unfortunately, I wasn't convinced by anything else. The plot seemed fine enough, but nothing else convinced me. The way the angels acted and spoke, how they looked and what they did: they were just humans with wings, which was deliberate to make the plot work, but for me it just couldn't work.

Received an ARC from the author in exchange of an honest review... thanks for the book, Megan! :)

It was good. Loved that Michael and Gabriel exchange place. I mean, most Angel books I read Gabriel is a girl and Michael is a boy. In this one, Michael is Michaela. And Gabriel is the boy.

It's just that most of the time, Michaela is so undecided. I get that she was betrayed by her angels. That she lost all of it. I understand that she was so tired of it all, of the war, of being a leader.. but, I do not think that means she get to whine every damn time. So yes, I love that there is Clark to get her on the right track. I love that he doesn't waver. That is what Michaela needed. A real friend, who would stand up against you if you are about to make a mistake or you stray from your path.

Honestly? This book is somehow about miscommunication. If only those Archangels didn't just speculate, of trying to right things on their own, the things happened in here would never happen. Or at least it is not so big of a problem. If only they talked to Michaela, especially Cassie instead of listening to Lucifer, they'd avoid those soul problem.

Cassie should know better than to listen to a fallen like Lucifer. :/ And also, Gabriel... I dunno, but I want him to break out of there without having a deal with Lucifer. That is just plain stupid. No, I'd rather he tries to escape instead of that solution he came up with.

Betrayal, Loyalty, Trust, Greed, Keeping Faith... These are the issues in this book. They are in chaos. I wished they think for a minute of the repercussions of their actions first. Doubt is never a good thing. But it could be resolved by TALKING.

It was a good book, I like Angel books. So this is pretty okay for me.

Please bare with me as I have never written a review before, but for this book I MUST! I was a lucky giveaway winner on Facebook and received an ARC copy of The Hunted One. So it isn't out yet but WOW!!!

I absolutely love and recommend this book to everyone!!!!

From the first paragraph I was in love. Meg painted the absolute most amazing picture of Heaven right off the bat, and she continues to paint pictures throughout the entire book. Everything is so descriptive. It is so easy to imagine that you are actually watching everything take place. From Michaela's ghostly image to her human-like form; you are witnessing her change.

The non-stop action from the start and all the way to the end is just crazy good. Meg's ability to keep the action flowing throughout the entire read, until now, has been non-existent in any of the hundred's of books I have read. Yes, there are some books that are action packed, but nothing compares to The Hunted Once. She is truly gifted!!!!!!

The Hunted One is so detailed that it makes your imagination run in overdrive as every scene is played out right in front of you.

Great work Meg! I am so excited for The Lost One. Congratulations on your first book getting ready for publishing, and good luck with The Lost One. I will be one of the first to buy it!!! Guaranteed!

Truthfully, I almost didn't continue after the slow start and the angel concept wasn't working for me. However, I stuck with it and it turned out to be a really good book. Longer review next year (OK, next month).

Thank you Meg for providing me ARC for this. :)
Hooking, thrilling, awesome, exciting, wonderful, action paced, good pace and what not. This book has everything to make you in love with it. I love angels, anything and everything about them and its lovely to read books about angels yet so different from others. This book was no exception So unique and brilliant that You will not want to stop. I know I read slowly because reality sucks sometimes.
This book is about a belief you held for long, about a leader who took hard decisions, its about betrayal, about love and about following orders. This is the first book I must say where I read about Michaela and Gabriel... Them as a leader. Micheala is betrayed by her own team and now she must do something so that she could go back to Heaven . But what will happen when you know that things weren't like you always thought? Its time when you start thinking of your decisions. There are secrets that will leave you ofcourse shocked because you would have never thought it would happen. It was a rollercoster ride for me !!
This is Michaela that I have in my mind :)

Holy cow.
This definitely puts a new view in perspective on how to view angels. Even they aren't so pure.
First off, one of the things I truly adored about this book was how fresh the plot and ideas in this book were. I have never read anything that came close to this before, and I love to read books that are against the norm plot. I also loved our main characters, even if they aren't human they have traits about them that helped me connect with them as a reader. Michaela was definitely stubborn and thick headed at times, but you had to love her. Clark was just too funny and a real loyal friend, which I definitely like since most everyone in this book would had, and did, turned on her in a second. Throw in some romance, a great sense of humor from our pink haired protagonist, crazy angels, the devil himself and just about any other holy (and unholy) creatures you can think of and you've got this magnificent book right here. With just the right amount of great plot twists (because let's be honest if there are too many I will get very lost) every now and then that kept me on my toes, I was in reader heaven (I feel silly for even using that phrase now).
Meg has definitely crafted a book that has ended up in my list of favorites right from the beginning, with great characters and an amazing plot... Well, I can't wait for book 2!! And I might go crazy if I don't get my hands on it soon.

I was given this book as an ARC and asked to provide an honest review.

Meg has created a fantastic novel in the first book of her series. I've never read this genre before, though I find the re-telling of the mythos of angels and heaven very interesting. From the first pages, the story is fast paced and grabs your interest. It is very hard to put down once you start so make sure you plan accordingly. Every character is layered and complex. I love the characters, especially Michaela and Gabriel. Their relationship is appealling and a great aspect of the book. Their flaws make you root for them even more.

Meg excells at visual details, especially in the opening scene and the depiction of heaven. She also crafted a great story and the mysteries and intrigue in this book is what will keep you engaged. It is apparent how much research Meg put into crafting her vision of heaven and I applaud what she has done here. The gender swap on the traditional depicition of the Archangel Michael is a genius move and I dont think anything here would upset those of a religious preference.

I am more than pleased with this first installment in the series and look forward to finishing the series. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book when it becomes available. You will thoroughly enjoy it.

Meg Collett has written a book that is full of mystery and intrigue that creates a very exciting atmosphere for the reader. I personally found this book very enticing and had to keep reading once I started.

The plot is well developed and constantly evolving with each chapter. it is very easy to read The Hunted One as there is a flow in the book that keeps everything connected.

Michaela as the main character of the book is a very strong character who's personality I found myself drawn to more and more as I read on. Seeing how Michaela deals with everything that happens to her in the book, makes her an even more enticing character to follow.

The scenes that are set in this book are easy to picture in your mind, so that you can't help but feeling that you are involved in the story as it is developing.

Overall The Hunted One is a well written, engaging and exciting book that I will be highly recommending that others read, because I know I will be reading this book again.

I just want to say congratulations and well done to Meg Collett for this fantastic book and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the series develops with eager anticipation.

What a phenomenal debut! Collett has a wild imagination and she grants readers free access to let go of reality and immerse themselves into the first book of The End of Days series. Her world building is spot-on and the eclectic array of characters are animated, well-developed and strong. The unique storyline will captivate bookworms of all genres and many will agree it's tough to put down once they get started. Michaela, our heroine is the front runner who steals the show and she seems to come to life with every flick of the page. Action-packed and heaven sent!

Absolutely the most amazing read EVER. This story is so captivating I couldn’t put it down. Michaela’s character is strong, determined and then caring all at the same time. The detail of this book is transforming. You think you know a character and then they surprise you, breath taking. Twist and turns in the plot keep you on the edge. You must read this book. “I received an early copy of this from the author. Release date is January 17, 2014

First things first! I was a bit apprehensive about reading this one. I have NEVER read an angel book before and this is not a genre I usually read in. With that being said... Meg Collett and THE HUNTED ONE has me freaking HOOKED! I gave this Book a STRONG 4.5 STARS!

Heaven, Hell, Earth, Archangels, Michaela, Gabriel, Lust and Deals with the Devil. This book has it all!

For the first time since Lucifer had his wings ripped from his body and was thrown from heaven as punishment he has returned. Michaela, General of heaven walked out the gates to confront the Fallen and protect Heaven from the enemy! She then realizes it was a trap. She made a huge mistake and left heaven's gates open. She soon realizes that her holy angels at her side and protectors of heaven had been seduced by Lucifer and his evil ways. They had set her up. They had turned on her. They broke her. Literally!

The Aethere were proclaiming that Michaela fell along with her holy angels and let Lucifer and the fallen into the gates purposefully. They decided the only way to protect Heaven was that they take charge. The hunt was on! Everything isn't what it seemed in this story of Heaven and Hell!

I LOVE the way this story was written. Michaela is the female general and Gabriel is the male counterpart. It will having you rooting for the good and praying for the end of the evil!! There will be times you will want to slap the crap out of Clark and throat punch The Aethere! And by the time you turn the last page you will be emailing Meg and begging her to get the editing done on the second book in this series THE LOST ONE!

To anyone that has NOT read an angel book I highly recommend you start with this one!!! And to anyone that has read angel books before I suggest you end with this one! I freaking loved this book and cannot wait to find out if it will be The End Of Days for Heaven, Hell and Earth!!

I loved this book!! Once I started it I couldn't put it down. For this being Meg Collett's first book she Hit it out of the park!
Michaela Is an amazing Character. She is the kind of angel that learns, sometimes following the rules is not always a good thing. Sometimes you have to follow your heart. She's flawed, but strong. . She's fighting for her home and her family. How far would you go If your loved ones were under attack? How far would you go to right a wrong? Gabriel is her rock, and is her best Friend, Clark is her new Friend that helps her deal with the Betrayal and both men help her in different ways. Each of Meg's characters is as well developed as her protagonist, with flaws and virtues, goals to reach and adversity to face.Weather you like books about Angels or not This book will be worth the read I can not wait for the next in the series..

I was an early beta reader for this book. It's typically not something I normally read, but I was intrigued by the blurb. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. It was well written with interesting, dynamic characters and a solid plot that was original to the "fall angel" sub genre. It's not a typical romance novel, and thankfully had enough action to keep a guy like me interested. I would recommend this book to readers. It definitely has me hooked to continue reading the series.

AMAZING! I was uber hesitant to read this book because of the angelic characters and religiousness. But it seemed as religiously neutral as it could have been and it was very exciting! Very well written, I had to copy down a few sentences because I absolutely LOVED the way they were phrased!! It's a great mix of violence and girlyness. And I am so excited for the next one!!

The storyline of this was great, but the writing didn't pull me in. I'm a huge Supernatural fan, so the thought of reading something pertaining to Archangels and a war coming for Lucifer to invade and take over Heaven sounded great. I think with some writing development, this story could really take off and find itself with many more readers.

The Hunted One is the first book in author Meg Collette’s End of Days Series and one that piqued my interest immediately after reading the synopsis. It seemed like a new sort of twist on the whole Heaven and Hell story….well, it was….and it was awesome.

Archangel Michaela has been serving as General to the Archangels since the beginning of her existence. It was all she had ever known. She was charged with keeping things in line and balanced between Heaven, Earth and Hell. She was part of the elite force in Heaven and had her friends and fellow Archangels by her side. It was a job she performed with the utmost sincerity and respect. She thought she had done everything right until she found herself on the other end of horrible deceit and conspiracy. Deceit and conspiracy at the hands of her fellow Archangels…her friends. Suddenly, everything she had thought to be pure and true was tainted and she finds herself without her friends, without her wings, and without a clue on what to do next. She knows she has to do what she can to fight the forces of evil and save both Heaven and Earth but the problem now is that she is just Michaela….not the General Archangel. The remaining forces in Heaven are after, wanting revenge, and the forces in hell want to assure that she is destroyed as well. Her only hope is Clark, a human and part of a family line trusted to help the heavenly inhabitants. Will she have what it takes to regain the trust of Heaven, bring down the forces of Hell and save the human race? That’s a whole lot of burden to carry….

I always love stories surrounding Heaven and Hell and always enjoy reading each author’s unique spin on things. In this story, author Collette has given a darker side to characters we normally think of as good and it was exciting to read from the very first few pages. Michaela has been an upstanding member of Heaven and has never really had anything unsavory happen to her in all her years. Well, that poor gal was in for a really rude awakening. From the beginning she has so many obstacles to overcome and I was worried for her the entire book. She is being framed for some serious heavenly crimes and is being held responsible for unspeakable acts all thanks to her so-called friends. She finds help and friendship in Clark and I adored him! He is part of a bloodline of heavenly helpers, if you will, and really wants nothing to do with any of it. But, in the end, not only does he help Michaela when anyone else would walk away, he does it with bluntness and honesty. He had me laughing at the most inappropriate times because he said exactly what anyone would…even if it was a bit frank. He may win as my favorite character.

Now, I can’t give too much away here as to why Michaela was framed by her friends and what their end goal is but trust me when I say, there were more than a few “whoa” moments had when I was reading. This tale is woven beautifully with pieces of the puzzle slowly falling into place until the end. Oh, and the end? Michaela gives one hell of a kick ass speech, which leads me to believe she will be on a path for revenge in the next book in the series (which I can’t wait to read!). Watch out, Team Evil….Michaela’s coming for you!

Thank you, Meg, for your unique spin on the good and the bad, Heaven and Hell….I enjoyed every minute and can’t wait for more!

'The Hunted One' is an exciting and enchanting first novel in a fresh New Adult fantasy/paranormal series. The book follows main character, Michaela, who is an Archangel in Heaven, until she is betrayed by fellow Archangels and thrown to Earth - stripped of her wings and powers. Those who betrayed Michaela and Heaven accuse Michaela of being the one who let the fallen angels inside of Heaven, causing an ethereal war. Although Michaela is forced to stay on Earth without her wings, she vows to do everything in her power to return to Heaven and reveal the truth about what happened, along with what she believes is the holy angel's own plan to take over Heaven and begin the End of Days. Along with her Archangel friend, Gabriel, who was also banished to Earth, and Clark - a human devoted to protecting the angels - the three will stop at nothing until the truth is revealed and everything restored to it's rightful place.

Although there are tons of books out there that are about angels and fallen angels, this one is a serious breath of fresh air into the genre, as well as pushing it even further by being a New Adult title. I loved the concept of the story and devoured every single detail that the author gave me about all the angels - holy and fallen - and about their histories, the end of days, Heaven, and everything else that the book centers around. I couldn't get enough of all the vivid descriptions and intricate details throughout the book and I really hope that we get more of the same in the next installment. Michaela is a kick-ass main character for the book. She's an Archangel and is basically in charge of keeping Heaven safe. When she gets betrayed by her fellow Archangels - those she loved and considered family - she has to gather her determination, strength, will, and intelligence in order to figure out the truth and find a way back to Heaven. Although she's such a strong lead character, she does have faults - which only seem to amplify the longer she's on Earth. I liked seeing her flaws because it made her feel more realistic and I could easily identify with her. The other two main characters in the story are Gabriel - a fellow Archangel banished to Earth, and Clark - a descendant of Enoch whose duty is to protect the angels. The three make a strange team at first, but they work together well and form a great dynamic. The story is actually told from varying viewpoints - those of Michaela, Gabriel, and Clark - which I believe adds a whole new level to the book. The reader gets to see into the minds and hearts of each of these characters in an intimate way that wouldn't be possible otherwise. The plot was full of action and even some romance along the way. There was a lot going on, but I didn't feel overwhelmed or confused at all. The pace was quick and I found myself eagerly reading to find out what was going to happen next. I have to admit that I definitely liked watching the relationship between Michaela and Gabriel change and grow - it was an added bonus to an already awesome story line. I highly recommend this book to fans of fantasy and paranormal, as well as those who enjoy angel and New Adult fiction. I'm already eagerly awaiting the next book in the series to be released!

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Michaela is the general and leader of the Archangels and of Heaven. One day the Fallen dared to approach the gates of Heaven and Michaela made a mistake she will regret the rest of her life. Leaving the gates of Heaven open, the angels fall under attack from the Fallen, but the worst is yet to come when her own Archangels betray her. Stripped of everything she loves, she's left for dead.
A descendent from a group tasked with helping angels on Earth discovers her. Clark keeps her hidden from the rest of the group when she's labeled as a murdering traitor. The problem is it's true.
Michaela tries to clear the name of the innocent Archangels who were punished for a crime they didn't commit. As she and Clark unravel the truth of what's really going on, they uncover the sinister truth of the act behind Michaela's Archangels betrayal. Now, they must not only fight to save themselves, but everything they hold dear as enemies on all sides close in on them. Nothing is as it seems and nothing will ever be the same again.
Loved it! The book was amazing. Right away, I was pulled in with this new perspective of angels and Heaven and Hell. This book was unlike any other angel story I’ve ever read and provided a unique and exciting look at the world of angels and Heaven and Hell.
The characters were so real and raw. I could see their emotions and felt their struggles and pain.
Michaela was a flawed character. She may be the General and leader of Archangels, but she soon discovers her mistakes and finds humanity in the midst of her struggles on Earth.
Clark was a solid character trying to do what he thinks is right. He stumbles and falls, but ultimately he sticks to what he believes, making him a strong supporting character.
Gabriel was Michaela's other half so to speak. He becomes tortured and hurt because he cares so deeply for Michaela. Their relationship was strained, but it's clear they care for each other.
The Hunted One was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, lies and nonstop action leaving me on the edge of my seat and reading into the wee hours of the morning. This is a book you will not want to put down. I can't wait till the next installment, The Lost One.
I recommend this book for any dark paranormal fantasy lovers who enjoy reading about heartfelt characters who are flawed and genuine with heart-pounding action and sprinkles of romance that leave you begging for more. If you like books about angels with a little dark perspective you'll love this. Fans of Gena Showalter's Angels of The Dark Series are sure to enjoy this.
I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. I easily give this book 5 fangs.

I give this book 3.5 stars(would have given 4 stars if it picked up sooner)

I was giving this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book starts off REALLY slow for me but I'm glad that I stuck it out it is one of the best angel books I have read in a while. I love how Meg changed things up in her story like with the angel Michael is usually a guy but in this book he is a she ( Michaela), and Gabriel is a boy (love it). The story is about how Michaela has been betrayed, and how she fights to clear her name and save those she loves.
Michaela really gets the raw end of the deal in almost everything in this book. She just keeps getting knocked down. What really surprised me was how Mag made Michaela so emotional she brakes down a lot and at one time she completely shuts down. For a angel I kind of find that hard to believe but then again she is on Earth now and not in heaven. Gabriel in this book really rubbed me the wrong way! He is her other half the one created with her and he does nothing but put her down and it hurts her to her very soul. ( I wanted to kick his ass by the end of the book!!) At the end of the book Gabriel and Michaela kind of face off and let me tell you I was cheering Michaela on! I hated how all of the angels love to blame her for her mistakes even though she has protected them for so long.
Now on to my favorite character Clark :) He is part of a group of humans that work with the angels. He is the one that finds Michaela when she falls. He becomes her best friend. I love the stuff that comes out of his mouth lol he makes me laugh. Clark is there for Michaela even if he is scared and wants to run a way but he stands with her and shows her what it means to be a real friend. Everyone needs a friend like Clark he brings her up but also calls her on shit when he thinks she is giving in. He is there for her no matter what she decides to do.
What really burns my butt is that none of the other angels will get up off there butts and look into whats going on they just follow blindly. I mean come on aren't angels suppose to be all knowing and stuff. And what angel would take the word of Lucifer!!! (you really shouldn't be a archangel if you believe the great deceiver) I am really hoping there is going to be another book after this and the way it ended I would say that that's whats going to happen. I can't wait to see what other things are in store for Michaela and Clark. There is more I could talk about but I don't want to give to much away all you dear reader need to know is that this book is awesome.

*Review based on an ARC copy from www.booknerdtours.com in exchange for an honest review*

I think we are all familiar with the Archangels, the Guardians of Heaven. Well, Meg Collett has taken that worn out story line and added her own fresh twist to the mix. In this story, Michael is a girl.

Michaela is the General over her fellow Archangels and through a series of unfortunate yet planned events, her brothers turn on her. When the Fallen attack heaven, Michaela is cast out for presumably allowing the invasion. She kills one of her own, looses her wings and is condemned to the mortal world where she finds the one thing she shouldn't have.. her humanity.

Michaela is forced to team up with the humans, particularly Clark, and the Nephilim if she has a chance of saving her home, Heaven. Along the way she discovers so much about herself as well as her preconceived notions of right and wrong. While Michaela is not human, she possess human qualities that make her a unique and likeable character in this story. Stubborn and strong willed, she will stop at nothing to save her home and her family, and earn her way back into Heaven.

This book was an action packed, slightly dark, dramatic, romantic and seriously engaging read. Very well written heroine who is supposed to be perfection personified, and yet, her flaws turn her into something so much more. Collett did a bang up job taking angels, demons, heaven, hell and everything in between and turning it upside down then sideways. Always keeping the reader on their toes, thinking you know what to expect, and pleasantly surprised with the differences.

This is a must read for fans of romantic dramas, paranormal, angels and anyone that is looking for something vividly different than the norm. I'm giving it 4/5 stars because angst and miscommunication always rub me the wrong way, and there was an abundance of both these qualities in this story. It was more of an overall itch than anything, and definitely didn't weigh the story down, but it could have been delivered in a smaller dose. Aside from that this was a fantastic read.

I won this book, from a giveaway that the author Meg Collett, had going on. This book was on my TBR for a while. Thank you, Meg!
For certain reasons, I am very picky about books that are about angels. But I knew from the moment I read the blurb, I would love it! And I was right! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!! I have a top 20 list of books, that I LOVE and will forever have a place in my heart, this book is on that list!!!!! So HAPPY that it will be a series! I NEED MORE!
First we meet Michaela, who is a very powerful angel. When something happens to heaven, Michaela, has to be to protect it, which means that sometimes mistakes happen, and Michaela makes a mistake(or did she? Hehehe) she has to pay the price for something that is not in her control. Of course, Michaela the most prettiest angel, has to have that special someone who is connected with her, that guy is, or should I say that angel is Gabriel. Not going to lie, Gabriel sounded HOT! The protector, do anything for Michaela, even if that means that he has suffer, big time!
Since Michaela was brought to earth by one of the Archangels, she is saved by Clark! Forget about Gabriel, I want more CLARK! Lucky, Michaela gets to have Clark help her, and even though he can’t fight like Michaela can, Clark is one BADASS guy! He is not afraid, he does have his own issues (I mean, who doesn’t?) you can’t help but to love him!
For this being Meg Collett’s for first book, she did a wonderful job! Her writing will suck you in, and you won’t want to leave! If you like books that capture your attention from the beginning, then this the book for you!

When you get ready to start this book, be sure you have cleared your schedule. That’s because once you start reading, you’re not going to want to put it down. Right from the beginning, I was completely captivated and pulled in to this intricately detailed world that the author has created-and every turn of a page drew me in deeper.

The characters are extremely well developed with every single one of them contributing something to the story, and all of them-including the fallen-raptly held my attention. You really feel for the characters, especially the Archangel (and Heaven’s General) Michaela who fights to do what is right, no matter what has happened to her, and no matter the consequences to herself. She is good through and through, even if at times she might seem to do things that contradict that.

The character of Clark, a human, is an interesting one and it’s quite satisfying watching his journey from being a virtual outcast in the Descendants to best friend of a supposedly disgraced Archangel. He becomes a strong character, dependable and loyal.

And then there’s Gabriel. Sigh- and swoon-worthy, this powerful and devoted Archangel will capture your heart with his complete commitment to Michaela, consistently displaying strength of character and his love.

A roller coaster ride the whole way through, The Hunted One has action, romance, an amazing world, an astounding cast of characters and a storyline that will keep you engaged the whole way through—and begging for more once you’re done. 5 simply stunning stars for a book that has easily earned its way onto my top recommendations list!

From the moment I picked this book up, I was hooked. I stayed up late every night just to finish one more chapter. It took monumental effort to refrain from contacting Meg to demand (or beg) that she finish the next book and send it my way asap.

Michaela is the kind of angel a girl can look up to. She’s flawed, but strong. A woman I can identify with. I don’t want to spoil it by giving away too many details, so let me just say this. She’s fighting for her home and her family. What would you do to save that which is most precious to you? How far would you go? We may not be angels like her, but thanks to the skill of Mrs. Collett, Michaela is more than just a character in a book, she’s a person just like you or me. Each of Meg’s characters is as well developed as her protagonist, with flaws and virtues, goals to reach and adversity to face.

In The Hunted One, Meg has created a vivid world and opens the door wide so we can see it. Expertly paced, the action moves along nicely, not at all bogged down by setting or back story. As a writer, I have a bad habit of editing as I read, but with this book that was impossible to do. I lost myself in the pure and simple joy of reading the story crafted by a writer who has earned her place among my list of favorites with The Hunted One.

I purchased this book after reading a review about it on the Literary Connoisseur blog. Between her recommendation and "meeting" the author on her Facebook page, I knew I needed to give it a try. And for 99 cents how could i not!

I've never read any of the fallen angel genre, this was my first. I really didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by a well thought out storyline and some wonderful characters. Some of the previous reviewers said this book had a slow start, however I never felt that. The beginning developed the characters and provided us motivation and background - the ways authors get us hooked on their characters and invested in what happens to them next. I found myself thinking about the book as soon as I woke up and wondering about how they were going to get over this obstacle or defeat that evil character.

Overall, I really enjoyed Michaela, the main character, and her struggles. She's complex, but likeable. Even though you can understand the POV of those who fight against her. She's not a perfect angel. But she is good and that keeps the reader rooting for her.

I look forward to the next book in this series and can't wait to see what is in store for these angels and their human helpers.

The book starts dramatic, yet at a very slow pace. This is an unusual and immensely clever elaborated way of starting a series. This unusual combination of important events and the slow pace might take a while to get used to. From then on, you feel the urge to continue reading, accompanying Michaela. The question of who to trust is ever-present. Michaela is the hunted one, urgently seeking the truth. This book might shake your concept of Angels, Heaven and Hell. Michaela and all other characters are portrayed with their strengths and weaknesses, neither glorified nor demonized. Meet Michaela, Gabriel, Clark, and the other characters and decide if you agree with me. I will not tell you more. This would spoil the fun of reading this book yourself.

With this first volume of the End of Days series, Meg Collett proves that action does also work in slow motion, her book never loses its flow. As a reader, you need the slower place in order to comprehend the whole picture of The Hunted One – perhaps you do not see that at first – however, you get used to it pretty fast.

Love it! It starts off with significant events happening right away. In fact that would be only criticism. It almost went so fast into these dramatic moments that I hadn't gotten to know the characters well enough to feel as much anger or emotion for the characters. But I got over that about 30 pages in and started to love the characters then. Micheala, is the female main character, and it's grueling to go along with her on this quest to save heaven, to save earth and she has to do it even after everyone in her life has turned their back on her and believed the lies spread by those who betrayed her. She is an amazing woman, well archangel actually. But she's also becoming more and more human while on earth, and she is dealing with emotions and trying to hold it together just as anyone would. However, I must say, this book is even better because of the supporting character, her kind of human friend, Clark. He is sarcastic, ridiculous, hilarious and is the reason this book comes together so well. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series!

A friend recommended this one to me. It is very well written but wow is it dark.

Hmm. In this, round 1, of good vs evil, I came away not knowing who the goods guys are exactly. Ok, main character, check. Sidekick, check. But just about every other represented faction is a bit murky or definitely bad guys.

I like my dark tales full of suffering to have some silver lining. There's a balance to be had, y'know? At the end of this book, I'm really stretching for that silver lining. At the end if this, I felt like the outlook was grim with a side of, oh crap.

That said, the writing itself is very good and this is only book 1. Characters are well developed, the plot is tight and not very predictable. The twists made sense but I didn't see them coming from a mile away. Overall, it's a good book. I just didn't personally connect with to the story.
