Writing: basic | Plot: fictionalized 'She's All That' | Ending: ight, time to go
SYNOPSIS
Quiet shy Hannah decides she wants to become a 'hot girl', so she lowkey blackmails the town hottie into being her hot girl coach.
MY OPINION
Okay so within the first couple of pages I had committed to putting aside the facts she uses the phrase 'hot girl' 37 times (once every 10 pages) and that Wyatt calls her a bookworm 129 (yep) times so I could enjoy this book. I accepted the writing was basic, but the 'She's All That Vibes' convinced me to lean into the corny, Hallmark fun of it all.
I won't say it was a mistake but I will say that things went zero to woah nelly. It's not a spoiler because even a hamster knows these two are gonna end up together so Ima just say it: Wyatt went from Mr. Here For A Good Time, Not A Long Time to Mr. Marry Me and Birth Me 8 Sons after having a nurse ask if his wife is pregnant. At the time of this out-of-pocket question from the nurse, they weren't even DATING. He had single finger banged her a handful (har har) times, but that's it. Then suddenly someone describes Hannah as his knocked up spouse and all he can hear are wedding bells???? It reminded me of in SATC when Charlotte plants the idea of marriage in that rich guy's head and he just rolls with it.
Also, these characters should've been 23 years old MAX. I'm 30 and I've done some whack ass things in my life but there was no way Hannah was my age. She acted like she recently escaped a cult or time travelled from 1767. It was very odd. I wasn't a huge fan of Wyatt either; he was giving Edward Cullen with commitment issues. And I know this is just a 'silly lil romance' but could we have done at least one Google for the surf competition aspect? You're drinking beers and then rocking up to the beach? K.
Anyways, if you're looking for a low-angst, mindless, Hallmark read with a guaranteed HEA, give this one a whirl. The first half was fine, and there was genuinely some kikiki moments, but then it just went a bit west.... FOR ME.
PROS AND CONS
Pros: She's All That Vibes but a bit more 'woke' (lol), easy to read, some good banter and humour throughout, Hannah's character growth was measured and well flushed out
Cons: went 0-100 after the second half, characters were too immature for their age, never want to hear the word 'bookworm' or the phrase 'hot girl' ever again

So cute omg
I love when the male leads are good people that want to help the female leads with no ulterior motive. And he was also so down bad for her, the “your pregnant wife” scene was the best. (Dont worry this isn’t a pregnancy trope book)
I like that this didn’t turn into the typical “makeover” book/film where they change the girl entirely from personality to physical appearance to make her feel like she has some sort of “value” or for the male lead to just then start to be attracted to them. In this one wyatt just helped hannah show what she already was and help her be braver.
I adored Hannah’s development and how we got to see page by page how her confidence went up. And also that Wyatt also learned throughout the process and they both grew with eachother.
I would say in many books we get to see characters develop, relationships bloom and chemistry but many times we dont get actual proof that those “happy endings” are longterm. But in this one i feel like we got to see a strong base for their relationship

Stephanie Archer does it again! With her 30th birthday approaching, Hannah looks around her life and decides that she is going to change. She is determined to step out of her shell and become someone her mom would be proud of; her goals are to fall in love, become a “hot girl”, and save her failing book shop. In order to complete her goals, Hannah enlists the help of Wyatt, the local hot surfer. Wyatt agrees to help Hannah if she manages his social media platforms, as he is hoping to go pro and looking for surfing sponsorships. Wyatt pushes Hannah out of her comfort zone and in turn, Hannah does the same for Wyatt. The two develop a fast friendship that turns to more as Wyatt watches Hannah go on dates and realizes he wants to be the one going out with her.
Hannah and Wyatt were made for each other! I loved how Wyatt brought Hannah out of her shell and encouraged her to be her true self when she thought she needed to change. He showed her that who she wanted to be was already herself; and that she just needed to stop holding back. I also loved how in the end, the both of them were able to acknowledge they were afraid of falling in love but that they wanted to be brave together. I can’t stress how healthy and sweet they were; the two just made a perfect pair. Add in the small town setting, summer vibes, and Stephanie Archers’ light hearted plot, and you have an all-around great book.

hannah is a very introverted, somewhat reclusive bookworm who has a life crisis before her 30th birthday and realizes she needs to shake things up if she’s ever going to meet someone or live a life she actually enjoys. cue her asking her bff’s brother-in-law who’s very confident for a little bit of dating and life help.
OH MY GODDDD wyatt was the most thoughtful, protective, funny, golden retriever-y hero i’ve read in a minute. he was SO cute and thought hannah was perfect as is but just wanted her to be herself. i can’t, i’m obsessed with him.
hannah had her moments towards the end but i loved her character growth and the way she knew just how to push wyatt’s buttons.
i can’t recommend this series enough for a genuinely funny series of romcoms with incredible banter and such good characters.

DNf at 59% (end of Chapter 18).
As I’ve gotten older, I’m less into the makeover trope, but I thought I’d give this one a chance based on a Reddit recommendation.
In the end, a lot of the writing just felt juvenile and forced to me.
* The French friend introduced in the first scene? Totally unbelievable and felt like a prop. That was not a great way to start off the book.
* The tiny town was super diverse and woke… but not in a natural way, I felt like the author was checking boxes and hitting me over the head with it.
* Hannah went from selling like 2 books a day to selling hundreds of books at the farmers market in one shot? (She and Liya both picked out 50 books, and then they had to run back to the bookstore to grab “basically anything” multiple times).
* In my experience, readers often love browsing tiny hole in the wall bookstores… and there are so many bookstores that own the fact that they don’t spend time on their appearance. That also seemed like a pretty good fit in a tiny coastal tourist town. I was finding it hard to buy into the plot’s whole premise of a struggling business that was **only** held back by Hannah’s father’s stubbornness.
* Where is Hannah getting her money from if she’s been not paying herself and chipping in her personal money to cover operating expenses? She does not feel like a woman on a budget. And it doesn’t sound like she had any jobs prior to the bookstore?
* The FMC and MMC did not feel like they were turning 30… I definitely got the vibe that they were in their early 20s. (But maybe that’s the point? And why the FMC is having such an identity crisis in the first place?)
* The book was marketed to me as a slow burn, but it doesn’t really match my preferred definition. We didn’t get to see much of their relationship develop, we were basically shown a few surf lessons and chats during the day. They also hooked up pretty seriously by 50% (within what felt like 2 weeks of meeting). To me that’s maybe a medium burn, and made the relationship feel much more centered around physical attraction then actually having a relationship. But I have pretty specific things I’m looking for in my slow burns! Lol
* The last straw was when they came back to town from the camping trip :( So cringe. I couldn’t keep reading after that.

this was SO much better than the first book. the smut was (somewhat) good, the progression of their story believable, the mcs spent a lot of time in nature, the fmc had a little life makeover time as she got out of her shell (dont ask me why i love makeovers sm), and there was no mmc self proclaiming to be a genius all the time (emmett pls fucking take notes). I enjoyed it.
their domestic moments and the way he communicated? fire. i liked this blond more than his dark haired brother in the last book, that should tell you how amazing Wyatt is (comparatively)
this book too wasn't immune to the author's weird writing quirks tho. i want to get on my knees and beg her to stop using the phrase "panty-melting." yes I'm being dramatic and it was used only twice maybe but still, the cringe was too much to bear. many times in their povs, you go like are these like 30 y/os thinking like this??? bec my girl is 30 and calls her pussy "lady parts" like 😃 if i hear the words "bookworm," "lips rolling," "lazy smile," "nostrils flaring," again it'll be WAY too soon.

Started out cute and funny and then the h is a 30 year old acting like she’s 14 how do you as a grown woman go up to a man and ask them to teach you how to be a “hot girl” so so embarrassing whatever happened to shame? to dignity?
Having to use your savings to pay your employee and what does she decide to do about it? Ask someone to teach her how to be a hot girl… LMFAO. Grown woman be a grown up and either fire your employee because you can’t pay her, sell your bookstore or for the love of god stand up to your father.
Side eyeing rn. The last book was kinda mid and unrealistic at times but cute covers idk LOL we’ll see how this goes.

on the menu tonight is friends-to-lovers, cozy small coastal town, self discovery, the most secondhand embarrassment inducing moment i've ever read (that poor missing hiker...iykyk), and the pinterest-y remodel of a failing indie bookstore. i absolutely loved every second.

Surfing, bookworms, romance. All the boxes ticked. Super cute, super fleshed out, and had those specific moments that really hit home.
the ONLY thing I didn't like was how often Wyatt used 'bookworm'. it was very over the top and I feel that nicknames are fun every so often (like how the 'professor' was used)

it's so typical of me to give it 2 stars but the thing is, in the start i was actually really liking it. i was hopeful this would turn around the genre for me. the sudden personality change in the name of character development threw me off. i preferred the shy, introverted hannah bc at least she had thoughts and ideals. later she became a goofy smiling 24/7 "hot" girl. i stg the words 'grinning', 'narrowed', and 'clench' bore holes in my skull. wyatt surprised me in the start, he was the perfect person to help hannah. but when he suddenly became a possessive alpha hole at 70% What was that??!? that's not wyatt. also the name is not moanable, no matter how hard you try. and you tried.
all in all, i would rec this to the usual genre readers. the tension in the first 40% was niceee. maybe stop there.

This is an angry 1* review. If this hadn’t been recommended and raved about so much I’d give it a 2 star rating, but seriously this book is overhyped. I really tried to keep reading because I heard the spicy scenes were 🥵 but even reading up to 16%, while skimming, was hard enough.
Major pet peeves found:
- The French character… FFS could this be more stereotypical and unrealistic. I don’t know what kind of non-native speakers you guys come across, but never in my life have I or someone else inserted random expressions of our native languages while speaking English. It’s cringey, weird and just not done!
- How many freaking times is he gonna call her “bookworm”?? Ffs that was way too much
- Why is the dude talking about Pride and Prejudice as if it’s something so mysterious?? Isn’t this a fucking classic you need to learn about in school? Have you never seen a screen adaptation on TV??
- The whole thing was way too meta for me. I feel I can’t read any more books featuring main characters that are authors, bookshop owners, or really into books. I can’t quite explain it, but I can’t stand it most of the time.
- The characters are so bland and immature…

You know when you read a romance novel with a HEA but you don’t think the couple will make it in the long run? I think Wyatt and Hannah will make it. I loved them together and how they support one another. I love their bedroom talk 🥵.

the premise sounded cute, but this was so corny (and not in a good way).
(-) every time this FL talked about being a hot girl i could only think of jamie brewer in AHS saying "i want to be a pretty girl!"
(-) the beginning was way too rushed, and the subsequent relationship development was poor as a consequence. it was obvious the author just wanted to get to "the good part," because the first few chapters—which should have been setting the stage—were quick and clumsily done. the FL and ML went from being virtual strangers to being horny BFFs in the blink of an eye. they didn't actually act on those feelings until like the 50% mark, but i still wish they had gotten to know each other more slowly at the beginning... preferably without being all hot and bothered over each other. friends to lovers is so good when it's done right!!

apparently, this FL's mother only spoke in fake-deep quotes, because every time the FL mentioned something that her mother had said, it was the most god-awfully corny thing i'd ever heard in my life. it made the story feel so fake and forced.
in this author's defense, i feel like every author in this genre writes dead loved ones in this way, so i can't say this is a unique issue. it just bothers me and takes me out of the story; i would encourage writers to talk to someone who has actually lost a loved one and ask what they remember about them. i can almost guarantee the things they remember aren't going to be fake-deep one liners.

(-) the beginning was way too rushed, and the subsequent relationship development was poor as a consequence. it was obvious the author just wanted to get to "the good part," because the first few chapters—which should have been setting the stage—were quick and clumsily done. the FL and ML went from being virtual strangers to being horny BFFs in the blink of an eye. they didn't actually act on those feelings until like the 50% mark, but i still wish they had gotten to know each other more slowly at the beginning... preferably without being all hot and bothered over each other. friends to lovers is so good when it's done right!!

This was rough. I cant. The entire permise of this book is her asking a guy to “teach her how to be a hot girl”. No bro, just no. And as if hearing this once isn’t bad enough, “hot girl” is repeated 36 times in this book🤠 36 FREAKING TIMES DO U UNDERSTAND
anywho that and the fact that teaching her to be “a hot gril” consisted of teaching her how to surf and ask out gay and married men 🤡

4,5 💫 | Con este libro confirmo lo mucho que amo leer romance y a esta autora por escribirlo 💓.
Sabía que me iba a gustar, pero no tenía idea de fuera a convertirse en uno de mis romances favoritos del 2025. Porque sí, esta autora SABE escribir romance, sabe hacerte suspirar por EL protagonista y hacerte desear ser LA protagonista.
Wyatt y Hannah, los amooo. Es que eran tan lindos y tiernos. Me encantan los friends to lovers y este no fue la excepción. De hecho, ahora es uno de mis preferidos 🤭💞. En ningún momento se me hizo lento ni aburrido, todo está perfectamente equilibrado.
Por su puesto, la trama principal es el romance, pero también seguimos el viaje de Hannah, que esta apunto de cumplir sus 30 y se da cuenta que su vida no es exactamente como se ve en un futuro. Entonces entra Wyatt, a quien le pide ayuda o "chantajea" para convertirla en una chica sexy, alguien que no le importe lo que digan los demás, que vaya por lo que quiere, que esta bien equivocarse y avergonzarce un poco...
La manera en que llegan al trato es super chistosa, desde ahí sabía que el libro iba a ser una comedia andante ¡y lo fue! Algo que me gusta mucho de un romance estilo small town es cuando el pueblo está involucrado y crean chismes (de los buenos) y hacen toda la historia más divertida, lo cual sí pasa aquí y me tenía riendo en voz alta 😂 ¿Tiene escenas cringe? Claro, pero es parte del encanto 😌.
Me encantaron todas las bromas, los chistes, la manera en que Hannah iba tomando confianza en si misma y como Wyatt le decía lo orgulloso que estaba de ella sin importar lo pequeño o grande que fuera el logro 💞.
Chicas, este hombre era tan bello. Era protector, comunicativo, gracioso, coqueto, no le importaba lo que dijeran los demás y un toque (o mucho) sin vergüenza 😂💖. JAMÁS fue un imbécil o grosero con Hannah (lo mínimo, duh). No le faltó el respeto ni se burlo de ella cuando le hacia preguntas sobre sexo. De hecho, en una parte, él se siente orgulloso de que ella le tenga la confianza para hablar de esos temas.
Lo que me lleva a las clases de surf. Nadie me dijo que unas clases de surf podían ser tan tiernas 🤧💕. Después de las clases se quedaban flotando por ahí mientras veían el cielo y hablaban (mi talasofobia entró al chat jskjaja).
Osea, para Wyatt lo más importante era el surf y mientras más tiempo pasaba con Hannah, más la iba comparando con el mar weyyy, SU COSA PREFERIDA EN EL MUNDO 😭💗. Él sabía que tenía que practicar porque pronto sería la competencia de surf donde el fue aceptado, pero prefería pasar sus mañanas junto con Hannah en sus clases de surf.
Tengo que mencionar el magnífico apodo que Wyatt le puso a Hannah: bookworn.
Tan tiernooooo 💕.
Las escenas spicy también me gustaron mucho, I lovet 🛐. Ambos fueron muy hot. 10/10.
Y, lamentablemente, sí tiene ruptura en el tercer acto, pero debo decir que incluso eso me gustó. La autora lo llevo bien. Era necesario. Y como la sentimental que soy, o porque tal vez conecté mucho con los personajes, solté algunas lágrimas.
La nota de la autora me encantó, dirigida para lectoras de romance. El mensaje de este libro es claro: las cosas no son tontas porque a las mujeres les guste. Ejemplo: los libros de romance. ❤️🩹. No tenemos porque sentirnos mal con nosotras mismas ni permitir que otros nos hagan sentir mal solo por nuestros gustos (en general).
Conclusión: Stephanie Archer es de mis autoras de romance favoritas y la amo, que nunca deje de escribir 🫶.

First off, The Wrong Mr. Right is one of those cartoon covers that hides some majorly hot steam inside, so head's up. Secondly, these characters hit me right in the heart and caused some tears to be shed along their path to their HEA. Hannah (h) and Wyatt (H) are opposites in a small town who each have their own vulnerabilities and flaws holding them back, sometimes without them realizing the extent. Hannah manages her family's bookstore, which is failing because her father is hung up on the past since her mom died. Wyatt has a surf shop and dreams about going pro, but also panics at leaving his hometown. Hannah approaches Wyatt with a plan to become a "hot girl" to break herself out of her self-contained shell and Wyatt agrees, finding ways to challenge and nudge her along. All while these two fall into friendship and then into love. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither were virgins (H had been a manwhore who had ONS but no scenes of him with ow on page and h had only had one disappointing in the sack boyfriend - I know this isn't some of my friends' favorite set ups but there were only a few mentions of Wyatt's past and it never made Hannah feel bad).
I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like Hannah, she starts off so meek and yet also resistance to change despite wanting it desperately. I also wasn't sure about Wyatt's methods because his initial assignments for her at first seem designed to humiliate her, but the core of why he's asking her to do them is strengthening. I laughed a lot at these two and I swooned hard over Wyatt as he began to see Hannah in a different way. I loved that she grew as a person without changing herself, she simply became braver and more comfortable with herself and what she wanted. The relationship and steam are slow build/burn and I loved them together. Wyatt's also into praise and very focused on her pleasure esp with her poor experiences. I also loved that Wyatt is protective and gets jealous over Hannah, even when he had asked her to put herself out there with other guys before he was sure about his interest.
The changes that Hannah implements, regarding herself and her bookstore, are gradual. Wyatt's support and the positive feedback from others in the town were amazing. However, she's also hiding the bookstore changes from her father and I felt so much anxiety about when that other shoe would drop. Same level of anxiety with what would happen between her and Wyatt because the plan is he'd be headed off to compete on a pro level and she'd be in the same place. Wyatt's also always had a laissez-faire attitude about life, caused by an event, yet they're both falling in love and the town is falling in love with them as a couple. Wyatt's family, Hannah's friends and co-worker, and the rest of the town made for lovely side characters. Lots of hilarious moments along the way with them, along with encouraging and sweet ones.
Of course Hannah's dad finds out about the bookstore and of course she and Wyatt have to face the question of what happens next. So much emotion and my heart hurt for them both. Then Ms. Archer pieced it back together. The story ends with an epilogue a couple months later and them headed towards their HEA. I closed my kindle with this big swell of happy. It should also be noted that this is a very romance book-positive story that also has some diversity with its characters and support of women. I would absolutely recommend this story.

I was really enjoying this book and planned on giving it 4-4.5 stars, until the third act conflict hit. I felt like Hannah acted like a child when she’s almost thirty years old. Even the way she spoke to her dad blew my mind. & the way she acted with Wyatt? It hurt. I really enjoyed her character up until that point.
I liked Wyatt, but I felt like he didn’t notice her until she started changing her appearance. He said he thought she was “cute” but didn’t feel any sexual chemistry towards her until after she made changes to her looks. I just feel like if you have to change yourself for someone to like you then it’s a disservice to yourself.
I really liked the authors acknowledgement though, and I’m excited to read Holdens story since he gives off that grump energy

Книга ну дуже мила 🔥 Якщо хочете перезавантажитися після невдалих або складних книжок, то це саме то 😍🤩 Читала раніше першу книгу з цієї серії - вона мені не зайшла абсолютно, а тут і Ханна - просто неймовірна мила дитина зі своїми планами і мріями, і Вайят - амбіційний молодий хлопчина ❤️🎉 Дуже сподобалося, що ніхто з них не приніс в жертву свою кар'єру або сім'ю заради іншого, домовилися🙏🏻Все було максимально органічно, тільки кінцівочка знатно набридла, вона повторюється в усіх книжках, не тільки у Стефані Арчер, ну то ладно, переживемо 🙈😽

I risk repeating everything I said in my review of That Kind of Guy, but to me, Stephanie Archer's writing is near perfect. If you imagine an audio board labelled with different writing elements, everything is dialled to the perfect degree. I love pining, and it's cranked all the way up in this. I don't love overly-shy, doormat heroines. Luckily, Hannah's shyness is placed right in the middle. And so forth. Truly, this book was everything I ever could've asked for. As I've mentioned before, I love the setting of this series, the progressive cast of characters, and the author's writing style. In this novel specifically, I really loved both Hannah and Wyatt as main characters. I found that their dynamic felt incredibly natural, and I loved that even though she's shy, Hannah was quippy and stood up for herself. I also love the trope of the male main character not having too many close friends until he meets the female main character, whom he then spends all his time with. The pacing of Hannah and Wyatt forming a friendship and slowing becoming lovers was incredibly good. The initial slow burn was well done, and I loved how obsessed Wyatt was with Hannah. I could just list every minute plot point and joke from this book to say how much I loved it, but I'd rather just encourage you to read it yourself. Criminally underrated!
