An alien warrior's fated mate may unlock a rut that could just as well kill him as save him.
Both broken from their past, meeting each other could be their second chance at a love worth fighting for.
When Renee, a late 40's mother of two grown daughters, joins the human exchange program, H.E.T., she had no expectations for joining a study on human attraction to aliens. She was well past her biological clock telling her to breed, and she needed the distance from Earth to figure out what to do with her future.
It wasn't until she boarded her shuttle, found her eldest daughter lied about her study abroad program being on Earth, and her internship was under an alien general that Renee couldn't seem to tear her eyes from. He was smart, strong, and her body betrayed her for the first time since she was a teenager, but she was keeping a secret too that she might let destroy her second chance at love.
General Sou-el fought for everything he had, from his title to his very life when he was a spawnling. He had all but given up on having to fight again for a mate, as he was not a warrior of brute strength, but of the mind. He honored his goddess with research to benefit the tribe, as his glands were damaged beyond saving.
At least, he thought so, until he met a human participant in his research studies that has him seeing blue, and experiencing a rut he never thought he was capable of. She was his to claim, if only there wasn't a chasm of doubt between them and a future commander who's taken an interest in finding a human mate.
They will each have to fight their inner demons to win a love that could last a lifetime.

Should I read in order? I do think you’ll get a better sense of the world building and alien culture if you read in order (and the Necia Alien Warrior series and Treasures of Trillume series are kind of intertwined)
Basic plot: Renee takes the chance to leave her marriage and grown children and join the human exchange program to participate in a study regarding attraction between aliens and humans
Give this a try if you want: - science fiction romance - this takes place in a futuristic Earth where alien contact has been made and there are human exchange programs to foster relationships between aliens and humans. - mostly space/alien setting - higher technology - married heroine with 2 kids – her marriage is basically platonic and they are best friends but not in a passionate love with each - heroine in her 40s (46?) - alien hero / human heroine - fated mates - alien vampire vibes - an immersive alien culture and human/alien research plot - medium steam – 2-3 scenes (I combined a few scenes into one long scene since they were close together) including exhibitionism, blood play, knotting and some bondage aspects.
Ages: - Heroine is 46, didn’t catch hero
First line: “I think this is the best fucking decision you’ve made in the last ten years,” my best friend, Holden, said with a smack to my back, jarring my balance.
My thoughts: I really loved this addition to Robert’s Necia Alien Warrior series! This one is character focused and takes place on a space ship with plenty of opportunity for close proximity.
I think Robert is doing something refreshing with her aliens – the world is complex and immersive, the technology fun and futuristic, and the mating culture takes center stage with these exhibition friendly space vampires 😆
I loved how both of our mains came with unique issues they were overcoming. Our hero, Sou-el, isn’t quite the prime specimen of his species. Having damaged enzymes has made him settle for being a researcher, not a warrior, and not finding a mate. And Renee is trying to figure out what to do with her life now that she realizes she has a friend only and not a husband. She worries about trusting her heart and body with attraction. But when these two meet, it is so perfect and steamy and your heart just soars for their connection to each other.
I really enjoyed how character focused this one was! Some of her books (more the Treasures of Trillume series) can be more complex with political factors coming into play so I really loved just being able to fall into these two as a love story.

Full break down on what my ratings above mean here: Overall: How I felt about it everything considered! Readability: How ‘readable’ was the book? Did I fly through it? Did I have to tell myself to pick it back up repeatedly? Were any passages confusing? (I will probably score like (1) is literally unreadable due to formatting/typing errors, etc (2) There were lots of errors that made it difficult to read OR It was extremely confusing and I had to reread passages to make sense of it OR I disliked it so much I had to bribe myself to keep reading (3) I didn’t really want to keep reading and would have preferred to abandon the read and start something else OR some minor continuity issues/confusion (4) I liked it fine, maybe a minor error or 2. I was happy to pick it up when I had time. (5) I never wanted to put this down. I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it. I hid in the bathroom from my kids to read. I threw inappropriate food at my children for dinner so I could read instead.) Feels: Totally subjective to each person but did the book give me any tingles? Any butterflies? Did it rip my heart out (in a good way?) Emotional depth: How well do I feel I know the characters at the end? How much did I feel their emotions throughout the story? Sexual tension: Again, subjective, but how strong was the wanting and longing to me between the characters? A book might have strong sexual tension without a single touch. Romance: Was there romance? Did romantic things happen? This can be actions/words/thoughts of the characters and again is subjective. Sensuality: This is how the intimate scenes are written. Kisses and sexual scenes – how sensual were they? Were they on the mechanical side? Was there emotional pull tied in? Were the details explicit or flowery? These are subjective but generally (1) too short to get a good judgement (2) not all what I'm looking for - very vague or flowery prose (3) either not explicit enough or not enough emotional pull (too mechanical/physically descriptive without the emotions) (4) what I love in a scene (5) absolute perfection - perfect balance of emotional longing and explicit descriptions Sex Scene Length: How long the bedroom scenes are (generally (1) is 1-3 sentences (2) is a few paragraphs to a page-ish (3) is about average, a few pages (4) more well developed scenes, quite a few pages with descriptions (4) the majority of the book takes place in the bedroom. This is always hard to tell for me on audio! Steam Scale: Generally, each flame is a scene. If scenes are super close together I sometimes combine them. If a scene is super short or so vague I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t count it. There’s some levels of grey but generally the number of flames is how many sex scenes there are (I max out at 5 so I’ll put a + after if there’s more than that)
”Goddess help me," he said under his breath. "I'll bathe you, Human Renee, I had already said I would be honored to do so as a way of amends for my misjudgment. Though I'm unpracticed, I do not wish for your tiny human heart to thunder any louder."

I love a good old alien abduction romance, but this gem was such a nice change!
At 46 years old, Renee has no ticking biological clock to worry about. After 20 years of marriage to her best friend and two grown daughters ready to spread their own wings, she wonders what to do with her future. Why not join a Human Exchange Trade program for a research study on human attraction to aliens? Maybe she will finally find some excitement in her life…
Well hello there, General Sou-El.
There is my favourite fated mates trope but it is looked at from a more scientific angle. The whole experiment led by Commander Tensel was very interesting and it set this book apart. Can your body recognize your supposed mate when robbed of your senses? Or your body can lie?
Renee deserved to find her own happiness, not settle for a husband that simply existed. Sou-El was the kind of male she needed in her life and I definitely wouldn’t have minded one of my own too 😇
- Middle aged couple (fmc is 46) - Consent is sexy - Rutting/Heat - She has never orgasmed (Dude no wonder you need a new man girl) - Stretchmarks (I feel seen) - Exhibitionism/Voyeurism - Knotting - Mating mark - True mate/Soulmate - Space vampires! (Can't believe I missed that before)
Renee feels lost in her marriage. So she enters the HET to give herself the space and time she needs to figure out what exactly is wrong with her. Is she broken? She should feel something for her husband right? Or maybe the excitement and butterflies are just things in stories. Sou-el is actually broken, his glands are defective and damaged so much he isn't like other warriors. At least until he meets Renee...
Renee might be my favorite female in this series, she's older, she's got her full grown kids, her body tells the story of her life including baby fat that never melted away and stretchmarks that makes me feel seen. She's imperfectly perfect in the exact way she needs to be. Plus she sums up my feelings in more than half my relationships throughout my life. I should *feel* more. Why isn't there more? She leaves to find out if maybe she's crazy in thinking there should be more or maybe she is broken (she's not, she just settled too early and too safely). It's the anthem for so many women who married their high school boyfriend because it was safe. Only she gets to go to space and find a giant sexy spiky alien who is ridged for her pleasure.
This has all the things I love about this series, but adds in the fact that this couple is just in it for themselves. There isn't a hope for babies or some crazy life-altering path that needs to be taken (not really anyways). It's just two people who thought they were broken finding each other and finding out that maybe they aren't so broken. Don't we all feel like that sometimes? It is a lovely feel and makes this book that much more special for this series.
As always, it ties into the rest of the series and the other, so to fully appreciate it you have to read the others. The beauty of the series.
Sky Robert outdone herself ! A soul-gripping tale of two damaged souls looking for more in their lifes. Sou-el and Renee's story goes straight to the heart, they will have to go through doubts, insecurities, trials, deception, another male's claim, pain and almost death ,all with the unmistakable talent of Sky Robert! I highly recomend!
A heartwarming fated mates alien romance that will have you squealing. Renee is 46 with grown daughters and a husband *gasp* (ok not really they are going their own ways) and General Sou-el, a vampire like alien warrior with a rocking body and a huge... yeah. Renee joins a Human Exchange Trade program to study human attraction to aliens and she gets more than she could ever hope for. Insta lust with a sweet slow burn. Low heat but high intimacy which honestly was perfect for this story. A unique journey of finding yourself and taking what you want without hesitation. Blood bonds and hair braiding and GAHHHH just so much sweetness wrapped up in these pages. I loved this.
When Renee, at the age of 46 with two grown daughters, lets her daughter Becky convince her to sign up for a “study abroad” program, she was totally blindsided to find it was instead a study about human and interspecies' relationships! In the two decades of her marriage, Renee had never felt true passion. Meeting the alien General Sou-el, along with immediate attraction, she admired his intelligence, strength, and the fact that just looking at him had her body responding as if she was still a teenager! (Amazing what the right male can do about that lifeless passion!) The General has given up on finding a mate for himself as he relies on his wits and not a warrior’s brute strength for battle. He figured that, with his damaged body, incapable of going into rut, it was too late anyway for him to mate and he was better off just continuing as a researcher; but the human female has brought on all the signs that indicate his body is both willing and able to do the deed!
Before he could claim her, another officer on the ship, newly appointed Commander Tensel, is looking for a human mate and is interested in claiming Renee. Will the General lose his chance trying to claim his mate in battle? Will Renee be able to find where he is through his blood, proving they are mates – as long as she had blindly chosen his vial of blood and not Tensel’s? Will Fate lead her to the one who has awakened all of her senses in a way she had never experienced, a true mate in all ways and the one she loves? Grab your copy and find out their fate . . . even though everyone there will be watching their mating if she finds him!
What an amazing book this was and the journey of discovery that both our main characters went on was perfect, one never thought he would get the chance to have a mate and the other wanted more from her loveless marriage. Renee Grady is looking for more than the loveless marriage she has with her husband Tyler so she joins the Human Exchange Program that's on the Planet Trillume in the Blue District and she is hoping to feel love and pleasure for once in her life and although she loves her husband but she wants more and is he happy about not really but he wants to see her happy and with her Daughters Becky and Laurel and her best friend Holden support she is excited but her mother thinks she is throwing away he life for nothing. General Sou-el is a Psychologist and is running the trial and he has a human named Becky as his new trainee but when he meets her he see’s her with an older female partner and hopes this wont be a distraction for her and the job. Renee has just learned her daughter Becky is also traveling to Trillume and she is shocked but excited as well and when they just ran into her New Boss General Sou-el she realizes how is the sexiest alien she has ever seen and would love to have a piece of him in her bed and her pheromones sets him off and it’s the first time his Epul hasn’t caused him pain at her touch and learns she is Becky Mother Renee and now he wonder could she really be the one for him because he is damaged. When his Commander learns that she has sent him into Rut he is very interested in her as well. There is so much more to this fabulous book that will have you glued to the pages and is a definitely a must read.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Renee embarks on a life changing journey after her children become grown women and finally faces the fact that she does love her husband but is not in love with him. She signs up for a Human Exchange Program to be part of a research project examining the compatibility between humans and other species while hoping she can find out if she is broken or just hasn't found her "one". I have read other works by this author and ate them up just as fast as this one but I did find this one was missing the connections between the characters. I really didn't root for any outcome as I did with the first book which was a bit disappointing. The story felt a bit rushed in parts and I had to reread some passages to make sense of them. This will not stop me from reading any other works by this author. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Renee (h46) embarks on a journey of self-discovery by joining a Human Exchange Trade program after feeling trapped in her loveless marriage on Earth. Despite having grown children and a husband who is more of a friend than a lover, Renee seeks something more fulfilling. On the spaceship, she encounters General Sou-el (H), a Necian warrior who grapples with his own insecurities and physical limitations. Despite initial doubts and societal expectations, an undeniable connection forms between them. As Renee and Sou-el navigate their burgeoning relationship, they confront personal demons and societal norms that threaten to tear them apart. Renee questions her worth and desires, while Sou-el struggles with feelings of inadequacy due to his damaged glands. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, finding solace and passion in each other's arms. Hot and steamy midlife alien-human romance of Renee and Sou-el confronting their own vulnerabilities and insecurities to embrace the possibility of a future together.
I love these books. Excellent world building, lots of twists and turns, good characterisation and wonderful romance. The political background of the different species always makes for an interesting read as you never know how it is going to impact on the storyline. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Be aware that while this can be read as a stand alone, reading the rest of the stories set in this universe does enhance the experience. Therefore I strongly recommend reading them all. Of course then you will undoubtedly be as hooked as I am.
Another alien romance knocked out of the park by Sky Robert. I love the world this author has created & enjoy reading the books in this series. A woman who has never been loved & cared for the way she should have been decides to “go find herself” by going into the Alien Exchange Program. An alien who is smart & capable, but “not good enough” to be a full-fledged warrior finds his mate & it changes his body. The path to finally get to the point of being able to mate is rocky, but satisfying. once they get there, she trusts the mate bond & finally feels seen, heard, respected and loved. I loved the ending & how Sky brought in the earth characters. If you like alien romances, I recommend any of the books in this series. If you start at the beginning of the series, you’ll have more background for each book as they build on top of each other, but it’s not necessary. Each book can be read as a standalone.

I didn't think she could write better than the last book I read of hers, but I was wrong! She did amazing on this one! I loved that there was more story to this one beyond just the chemistry between the two main characters. You can feel they truly care for one another and it's not just told to you, it's shown throughout the story. It takes a little while for the really hot s*x scenes to hit but ohhh there's some fire there! 🔥 It's definitely not your typical alien romance, or at least ones I've read. This one was a little different and different is good (in this case). If you like alien romances at all, definitely give this a try! Her books are all stand alone and end happily. I did recieve this as an ARC but these opinions are my own.
We did it!!! We reached 50 reviews in launch month with a 4.6 star average and I can't be more excited to see more alien lovers dive in!! Thank you!

"Take what you want, Pulsunne, I am yours," he demanded, but it was the first time someone had demanded I take from them, and not give them something from myself. It was the most precious gift for him to want the focus to be whatever I wanted it to be. - Her Alien Warrior
I chose to read and review this book. I enjoyed reading this book. I found it interesting and Renee is very real. I feel that at some point we feel or know someone who feels like her until we reach ourselves. I liked the interactions between her and the General. I liked the plot line.
Renee has been married 20 years and has two daughters. But she's decided she needs space (no pun intended). She's leaving earth to go to another planet. She hopes to find herself and what she truly wants. She discovers that one of her daughters is going also but as a therapist trainee. General Sou-el is on board the ship taking Renee and her daughter to Trillume. He tells Becky that he will be her liason on board ship. Renee has taken umbrage with something he said and is on a warpath. He tries to explain but to her it's the same stuff he said before. Then he mentions he has enzymes are so low that he has had no interaction with a female. He is surprised that she reacts to his. So is she. But he smells so good. When he approaches her in his species way she reacts to his closeness. Basically she wants him. He thinks she's allergic to him. Then his sister starts her match making with him and Renee. OH that is all he needs to make his day. So what's going to happen now? Will the two of them figure out what's going on? Will he get past his inferiority complex of not being enough? Will she get past the how can i be reacting like this when I didn't react like this to my own husband? Miscommunications and lack of knowledge into species lives is a sure fire way to not get what you want! Add to that embarrassment in her reactions and you have the exact formula for miscommunication. A fantastic story to read. And maybe to learn from also.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I may not be 40 something or a mother but I really connected with Renee’s uncertainty about trusting her body with her feelings. She’s right. Bodies lie. But some things transcend the will of the body, like things that are known in the heart, doesn’t make it any easier to trust and I totally understand the heartbreak or numbness a body can cause a person. I may not know all encompassing love but I do know illness and disease also make the body lie and make us distrust our own instincts. I have been vindicated, I was sick. I won’t get into it but finding a name to a long term illness is a blessing. So watching Renee’s heartbreak play in my mind as I read was bittersweet- I felt her pain, her triumph, her uncertainty. That distrust that’s built up over years of gaslighting yourself that this is fine, it’s all fine, when you’re just settling into what’s easy instead of the burning curiosity that’s life. I haven’t stepped into my own life as heavily as she dies but living through her, for a moment, I feel like I have and that’s a wonderful thing to behold. Thank you Sky Roberts for making me cry for all the right reasons. You did amazing!

Wonderful writing and world building! It's very uncommon to read a story in which a middle-aged woman gets a second chance at love with a hot alien who is also a little advanced in years. Renee got married to her best friend and spent 20 years raising two daughters, yet she felt like something was missing. This character is very likeable and easy to relate to. She travels to Trillume to find herself when she meets Sou-el, a sweet vampiric alien who seems to be her fated mate. I love how their story resolves and especially how Renee's daughters completely support her. There are some unpredictable elements in this entertaining story, which also features instalust, adventure, action, romance, humour, and lots of steam. Once I started reading the book, I could not put it down. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend that you read the previous books to get maximum enjoyment out of it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
“This is what mates are, two truths recognizing each other."
“I held her through the rest of the rotation, wishing that I had been born worthy of claiming such a gift.”
Heartwarming, hot, and engrossing read about Renee who is married with two grown children but unfulfilled in her marriage, which is devoid of passion. She reaches for the stars literally by joining a research study on compatibility between humans and aliens. General Sou-el is head of research and while he has studied to be a Necia Warrior, he has childhood injuries that make him suited to act in a non warrior role.
While there is instant attraction, their story isn’t so smooth and there are trials and tribulations to conquer before they can have their HEA. Spy-el is an admirable male and will move heaven and earth to get his mate. I will say Renee being still married gave me some pause but that detail adds to the storyline in a meaningful way. This is a GREAT series but this can be read as a standalone.
This is the first book I have read by the author. I really enjoyed it. I was not a fan of Commander Tensel and I hope in his book. His person makes his life very difficult. Now back to Renee and Sou-el, they are just too cute. Two people who think they are broken, finding out together that they are not. Absolutely Priceless! I enjoyed how the story ended. It's wonderful to see how much Sou-el cares for Renee and is doing to make her new life as enjoyable as possible. From Renee, always being the caretaker. To now be in a relationship, that is one of equal consideration is beautiful! I really want a book on William. I need to know what happens. It's sad to think that people who are already in relationships were chosen for the study. Also, I really want to know what happens with Rokva and Olben.
Another unputdownable imaginative tale in the Tillume universe, this story gives us a little more background on the exchange program and the goals of some of the key players. I loved how relatable our MFC was! Renee is a mid-forties woman who has spent her adult years holding together a marriage and raising a family - and completely losing her sense of self in the process. It was also nice to have a MMC like Sou-el who had to overcome so much to get to where he is today but is still flawed and vulnerable despite his successes. Her Alien Warrior is thoroughly engaging read, and an excellent addition to the series!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This is a must read for me. I’m thrilled this 2nd book and it hit me right in the feels. I related the the mfc as being the same age and as always being the giver you want feel that passion, to be cherished and to be appreciated where as a lot of times we tend to get lost in the shuffle and put your self last. We get to see her journey to self discovery and see her grow and find that inner strength that was always was there hidden inside. Our mmc sweet dominant who will do anything for her who could ask for more. All I can say is sign me up. lol I can’t wait to see Tensel get his story and have his mate turn his world turn his world upside down….
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Renee reaches a point in her life where she starts to wonder….is this all there is? She’s not exactly unhappy, just…..empty. She needs to find herself so she joins an exchange program. It’s there that she meets General Sou-el who heads up a section of the research and they are drawn to each other. And this is where the problems start.
This is book 2 in this Alien Warriors series. It was yet another good read by this author and a decent length to enjoy. I especially enjoyed the fact that Renee is an older woman. Being one, myself, it is always nice to see characters close in age. :D I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this story. A woman who is trying to find herself a male who is not quit like the others of his Tribe. What they go through is different than some. It seems to be just what they needed though. I cried a few times to. Loved the story. I hope we will be invited for their Mating party. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A lovely story of two broken individuals finding each other and forging a future. Renee is looking for something after raising her daughters. Sou-el believes he is damaged beyond repair. Loved their story. Received a free copy.
This book was refreshing. Not your standard ive been abducted, sold at slave auction etc. This actually has back story, world building and the characters are great. I really enjoyed this book. Look forward to the next.
I have to say that, although I love some good alien smut, this is my first read by this author. I was SO invested from the get go. The storyline is quick paced and the characters are thoughtfully written. The ending gave me all the feels in my squishy heart. Im very interested to see what becomes of several supporting characters in the future. If you like rut, fated mates, or fancy alien peen check this one out!
I was waiting for the next adventure in the trilliune universe and it did not disappoint. I loved the older character finding herself in an alien world. And the Commander Seo-el having his challenges from birth. So good 😊
You will not be disappointed! This story covered all the bases! It got you in the feels, it is hot, it is sweet, it's yummy! I couldn't put it down, I totally loved it.
