One morning two boats leave a city in the East. A fishing boat is crewed by father and son refugees. A sailboat by an American surgeon. In two days a storm and a misunderstanding will bring them together with deadly consequences.Told by Webb Chiles, five time circumnavigator who knows the sea as few ever have, in the style that has caused him to be called "the greatest living writer in the sailing world."Also included in this edition are three short "Last Born", a radical solution to over population; "Saint Stylites of Las Vegas", an impulse to modern sainthood; and "Sailing to Africa", a voyage that takes an unexpected turn. The common theme is men on the edge of human experience, where Webb Chiles has lived as a sailor and artist for decades.

Well written, but very very sad. All of the stories are linked by loss and grief.
